Try setting the CDMA network mode using *#*#4636#*#*. Also, double check your APNs. If still not working there are a couple of things you can try:
Method 1:
1) Download this working Sprint APN xml file here(click on download button at the top)
2) Download and install "APN Backup & Restore" from the Google Play Store to your phone.
3) Convert the "APN Backup & Restore" into a system app by either using Titanium Backup, or simply use Root Explorer/ES File Explorer (root enable it) to move the APK from /data/app to /system/app.
4) Reboot the phone.
5) Launch the app, click on menu, then click on "Disable ICS Check".
6) In the main app menu, click on "Backup APNs". This will create a directory called "ApnBackupRestore" in your /mnt/sdcard.
7) Copy the xml file from step 1 to the /mnt/sdcard/ApnBackupRestore folder.
8) Go back to the main app menu, click on "Delete APNs" and confirm it.
9) Go back to the main app menu, click on "Restore APNs".
10) Choose the file you downloaded from step 1 and confirm it.
11) Reboot your phone.
12) Done.
If this method doesn't work, there is another one you can try. Let me know.

It says "Unfortunately APNs cannot be restored or deleted on this device because Android 4.0+ does not allow 3rd party apps to write APN settings".....This is getting quite annoying and I just got this damn phone.

Hmm...it might be an HTC RW security setting that's preventing it from storing the APN from the XML file. In any case, it's easy enough to change them manually. Here are the working settings that the XML file would have stored for you. Create this as a separate APN alongside your current working APN and name it MMS, and also add these into your selected APN as well:
MMSC: http://mms.sprintpcs.com
MMS PROXY: 68.28.31.7
MMS PORT: 80
TYPE: Default,MMS
Try doing a ##786 reset which will clear out everything & re provision the phone. Make sure you do it in a good signal area. If that doesn't work I would run an ruu, then do the same thing again. If that doesn't work it might be borked. You will need your MSL, just call Sprint and ask nice. If you get a CSR, don't argue just say ok thanks for checking hang up and try again. Shouldn't take more than a few trys. I have been getting in the habit of getting the MSL when I activate the phone just so I have it.

This is a pretty easy process. I went in to Root Explorer - dbdata - databases - com.android.providers.settings, copied settings.db to my sd card, edited it on my pc with a db editor changed 0 to a 1 next to non market apps. Copied it back to the original directory, rebooted and installed a non market app.
Please use caution. If you want to make sure the db save properly open it on your sd card before you copy and replace the original. It should open up as a readable table. If it opens up in a txt editor its corrupt. This permanently enables non market apps. You can not toggle it on and off.
I will try and post pictures soon.

Does it mean th after this you are able to install any 3rd party application with no restrictions?
Thanks
You can actually do it through firefox too. There's a firefox addon called 'SQLite manager' that you can use to edit the file, if you don't want to download a separate program.
Root Explorer is the pay program on the market? Any free alternitives?
Are you just trying to install non-market apps on the Captivate? If so, then just download the usb driver for the Captivate and then Droid Explorer (may also need SDK installed; not sure). With Droid Explorer, you can easily load non-market apps within seconds. Good solution for a non tech guy like me.
Being brand spanking new to Android, still have question. I like very specific instructions.
Do you download files to whatever directory you want to make and put the files in? Then is there an option to select, and do install? My background is WinMO, so on that you can just use a file explorer and double click or tap, and it installs.

So if I installed "PDAnet" for tethering it will work after rooting?

PDA Net will work without rooting. Just put your phone on airplane mode and enable wifi. Go to the market and download it. Once it is downloaded you can turn off airplane mode and you're good to go.

So... Thank you so much for this info. I downloaded your file and put it into the correct DIR and have non market apps installing with no problem. However I can not get Titanium backup to work correctly. =/ When I try to restore an app it says installing and I have to force close titanium to get it to stop. Probably about half the apps I try and do this for install the other backups do not. Is any one else having any issues like this or know how to fix it?

Where did you see the number to change? Mine just looks like a bunch of gibberish
When into this dir dbdata - databases - com.android.providers.settings and cant find any files. Using linda
I used this DB editor instead
http://sqlitestudio.one.pl/index.rvt
connect to the settings.db file, on the left side click Tables, and then click Secure. It will show a grid on the right with _id, name, value etc. Click the Data tab, in the search box type market. And there should be only one value that shows up as "install_nonmarket_apps". Set the value to one. Refersh it and then copy it back to your phone.

How the heck do you do this? I have Droid Explorer installed but not BusyBox. I have Windows 7 and can't figure out how to get BusyBox on my phone. I have rooted the phone but that's about it. in Droid Explorer when I connect to my phone it shows nothing!
I am running a (rooted) KL7 (Bought from Amazon - German? ) and I am getting an error with the Market when I try to purchase an app. "An error occurred. Please try again". I live in the US - is this an issue with the region?
How can I attempt to fix this? I did find I could by the app from another device, such as my Verizon Nexus, and it would then recognize the purchase on the Note and then allow me to download it, but I would prefer to be able to buy directly on the Note if at all possible.
Thanks, please advise.

Please tell us the ROM(Custom/Stock etc) you are on.
Many users in certain region face this problem.
Easiest fix is to copy an older vending.apk to your system/apps
Cheers
Root, download "Market Enabler" in the market and make sure it's identifying you as in the USA.
Did not work
Thanks, but Market Enabler did not work. I was already rooted, so I tried selecting T-Mobile USA and AT&T USA, but neither seem to work.
I guess the next step is to try a vending.apk from an older build as the earlier poster suggested?
Thanks, please advise.

Yeah it works.Dont install it like a normal apk.Do this.
1.Clear market data.Cache and stuff.
2.Go to a root explorer and browse to /system/app (note: you need a root explorer and mount /system as writable)
3. Here you will find a vending.apk. Take a backup of it. Now copy the vending.apk i provided earlier into this folder.
Once you have overwritten the file reboot and give it a try.

Do you have an older rom where you were able to buy apps?
That way you can extract the vending.apk from the older rom and inject it into the newer one(i.e. /system/app).
Another thing i would like to ask is do you have the correct CSC installed on your device?
Further as a last resort also make sure to delete/clear cache data for the market.
Hope that helps.

CSC is Country sale code. It contains region specific info like network etc.
Look at this link to identify the correct CSC code for your region. -->http://www.box23.org/pub/7500/misc/html/lettercodes.htm (Look at the 3-letter section under "Samsung Official Letter Code").
Once you have identified your correct CSC go to dialer and type this : *#272*{your imei number goes here}# (excluding the curly braces of course).
Amongst the list select your correct CSC that you had identified in the earlier step and press "Install" (Note: This will reset stuff and you will need to reconfigure stuff).
Also make sure that you have flashed a MULTI-CSC ROM or else you may not be able to see your regional CSC.
In case that happens don't worry do this:
1. Get hold of an old ROM update package. Open it up and browse to /system/csc
2. Copy your regional CSC folders from that archive to your phone SD card.
3. Dive into a root explorer on the phone (make sure 'system' is mounted as writable) and copy those folders you have in Step-2 to your phones /system/csc
4. Dial *#272*{your imei number goes here}# and install your CSC.
Hope that helped.
Cheers.

You are welcome my friend.
I would suggest you try this.
1. Change the CSC to your particular region.
2. Go to Settings--Manage Applications and select 'Market' and clear cache data and stuff.
3. Try to buy apps
4. If step 3 fails then i would suggest you replace the vending.apk in your /system/app
Hope your issue gets resolved.
Edit: Attached is an older version of market. I suggest you give this a shot first(replace it in /system/app)

So what happened is that update 5.11.401.10 rolled out today, so I went ahead and started installing the update but I didn't have enough time since I was going out to work so I cancelled the update and decided to start again once I reach the office... But when I tried to restart the update in the office I kept getting a massage saying that update is corrupted, so i restarted the phone, cleared the update cach but I still same problem.
I read somewhere that the only way to solve this is by a phone rest, and since my phone isn't rooted I cant manually go and delete the system update folder..
So is there a way to fix this..
Flash your nandroid backup & then you can start fresh.

It wont be in the download folder yet as you didn't finish downloading it, it will be somewhere like data/local/tmp, must be a temp folder somewhere until its completed, im surprised it doesn't give you the option to redownload if its informing you the download is corrupt.
If you don't have a nandroid from a previous Rom, you can't do one now. A nandroid is a "copy" of a Rom. Doing one now will save the screwed up Rom.
When you get your phone back working correctly, then make a nandroid. I update my nandroid at least once a week. I keep 2 nandroids on my SD card and delete the oldest after making a new one.
As far as the download folder not displaying the OTA file, do you see anything in that file?

2. Remove the Oldest "TetheringProvision.apk" and "TetheringProvision.odex" in system/app and replace with "TetheringProvision.apk" in: system/app
check and set permission rw-r--r--
Pros: Work with another Carrier. :good:
Cons: Maybe not work well for at&t carrier, FC in ART Mode.
note: I'll post it in case someone needs it.

You do not use the apk directly. The regular tethering app runs the provision check app, which asks at&t if your account is allowed to tether, itself. This replacement version just always says to allow the tethering.

Hi Guys, I'm a noobe. I try to erase the Apps but it gives an Error, Do you have any other tip or any guide based on your experiences?
Yes, I rooted the phone with towolroot and it worked. The phone is an S5 G900a ATT version but it is in a different network than ATT, I'm based in Latin America. I have install superuser and it gives permission to ES explorer but it does not remove the app when I ask it to. Also I have try to replace it but I still have the same error.
Another noobe question, how do you give permission for rw-r--r--?
Thanks for the help.

I got an error trying to remove the files using ES Explorer also. I purchased Root Explorer in the past so I was able to use that to remove the old files, copy in the new one and change the permissions. To update the permissions I went into Root Explorer and long-pressed on the file and selected Permissions. You can then remove the write options.
Unfortunately when I try to turn on tethering I get the error message: "Unfortunately, TetheringProvision has stopped." Has anyone else seen this error? I'm running the SM-G900A on T-Mobile.

I just purchased an SM-G900A ATT s5 from ebay and I am getting that dang Hotspot not available error also.
I am using a Straight Talk ATT sim so the phone does work well everything EXCEPT the HotSpot!
I am assuming this is because it is not unlocked? I haven't rooted it yet, but am considering trying your fix.
My main question other than is it NOT rooted is will this fix work on the G900A? the type in your image is a 'S5 2828'.
Thanks in advance!
it working with movistar ecuador. thanks.

This procedure works perfectly with AT&T S5 (SM-G900A).
I am using an AT&T S3 on Net10 network and had been trying to figure out how to get rid of the stupid error message. This method works great for me.

2 Different scenarios
1. You will have a folder named oat and a file named SamsungCamera6.apk under /system/priv-app/SamsungCamera6 in that case backup the entire folder system/priv-app/samsungcamera6 to your sdcard , delete the apk and folder from /system/priv-app/SamsungCamera6, then copy the modified apk over to system/priv-app/Samsungcamera6/ renaming it to SamsungCamera6.apk
2. You will have a file named SamsungCamera6.apk under /system/priv-app/SamsungCamera6 in that case backup the apk to your sdcard , delete the apk from /system/priv-app/SamsungCamera6, then copy the modified apk over to system/priv-app/Samsungcamera6/ renaming it to SamsungCamera6.apk
Download at bottom of this post
(Name scheme is as stated)
D#-This is date swaped around
H#-This is the bitrate of Hyperlapse
S#-This stands for all slowmotion bitrate
After that set the permissions (id recommend checking the original apks permissions before u delete it)
Reboot, (see if the app even shows up), then try recording 4k, it's around 21 minute record time with stock internal storage, with the 256GB sdcard it should be much more

Just woke up. 3 minutes into the 10. Will report back in 7 minutes!
EDIT: I can confirm from testing it 2x that it does in fact still cut off at the 10minute mark. I'm going to wipe cache and try again in a bit

Go ahead and redownload the new link. It's now working.
It is still limited to 10 minutes for me. Even after deleting the folder, remaking it and placing the downloaded file in, wiping cache and rebooting

This one is doing that?
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_OscqsqMY0vcDRDSXlva3o1NU0
Doenload that link and see if it works. If it doesn't do the following:
1. Delete the samsungcamera folder under priv-app
2. Create a folder named SamsungCamera6 under system/app/
3. Copy that SamsungCamera6.apk i linked in this comment
4. Set permissions
5. Go into applications and clear data under camera
Now with a empty phone and no sdcard u should have around 20 min record time
Let me know if this works because it seems to be working for me (see photo below)
Still isnt working for me. Even after new folder, wip cache and camera data etc. When i get home from work ill try again

I had this problem the other day after a reboot but clearing dalvik cache (delete everything in the data/dalvik/ folder) brought it back. I think because i signed the apk incorrectly. This will be fixed soon. Only thing so far is to not reboot the phone.

That may be my problem then. Force of habit to make changes and wipe things and reboot. It still hasnt worked for me. Probably the culprit!
