I'm running the CM10.1 8/12 nightly on emmc. I have Google keyboard installed and set as default, but this also effects the android keyboard.
After a fresh install everything works fine for a day or two and then without warning the swipe trail will no longer show while swiping in portrait mode, but continues to work in landscape. I also can't see alternate keys such as è or ñ in portrait once this happens.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm also having this problem. For me, the swiping works in both portrait and landscape, but I cannot see the swipe trail at all. Trust me, this is more annoying than it sounds. Anyone have any suggestions??

I am not having the problem with gesture typing. I did freeze the android keyboard and maybe you can try that.

I can't seem to be able to find a satisfactory solution for setting the screen orientation.
Personally I don't really like to use the g-sensor for screen orientation. It doesn't seem sensitive enough and there is that delay before it rotates. Also, when holding the Diamond in my lap or resting on a table, it lies too flat for the sensor to rotate the screen. Actually, even when I hold the diamond straight up and tilt it, Opera doesn't always rotate. Sometimes shaking it a bit does the trick, but not always. Maybe I have a bad g-sensor, but I'd still prefer other solutions.
I think what would suit me best is to have a hardware button to toggle between portrait and landscape. I have tried mapping the call button using tweak 21, but it's not working with all apps, at least not with Opera (build 1938).
I'm curious about bepes Gnes, where you can pre-define screen orientation for different apps. However, AFAIK, Gnes only comes with bepes ROM and there's no CAB. Gnes could work well for me, as I always use apps where I input text (SMS, e-mail, Notes) in landscape to be able to use the wider full qwerty keyboard. Opera is trickier, as I would like to be able to change orientation there.
Are there any other options?
How have you solved this?
First, enable landscape mode using the registry tweak.
Then map the long press call button to landscape as a manual toggle button.
Works well for me.

Do you mean that this works well for you, even in Opera?
If so, what ROM and what Opera build are you using?
Any input on this would be appreciated.
Just a simple question if anyone is willing to help
How do I keep my phone on landscape all the time?
I have tried going to "settings -> align screen -> landscape" but everytime i close my keyboard goes back to portrait mode . Some say it's due to "clear type" i turned that off and still keeps going back to portrait [I do lot of texting]
So if anyone has any ideas and would like to pass on plz 'n thanks
If you rotate the screen in closed-keyboard(portrait) to landscape,it keeps all the time in LS mode all the time after(keyboard in/out doesn't matter).. You can do it using mortscript,SPB PocketPlus or in a different way.
I have got a opera mobile 9.7 beta and when you rotate screen on landscape with this software and press home button, your screen will be still on landscape
// It is some BUG of opera, but you can use it

And also i found program called GSen ot rotates your touch pro !
If you have sk tools (probably even the free version), use the shortcut manager to create a landscape mode shortcut, then copy it into \windows\startup. You should be good to go.

In changeScreen you have the choise which orientation you want to use by default. And you can make exceptions. For example, I hate it when bubble breaker starts a new game when I tilt my phone to far, so I've set it up in a way it only uses portrait.

hehe im trying to do the exact opposite
I want tf3d to be in portrait all the time, regardless of keyboard in or out.
If i figure out how, ill let you know because it should be easy then to convert to landscape only.

any luck bud?
Nope sorry
I had another thread going and their were a few suggestons but it didnt make any difference.
why not just use screenchanger 2.8 and set default only 2 the landscape of your choice (dont know if ur right or left handed)???
if u chose "enable" and "run on startup" wouldnt that fix everything w/o out using some stupid glich?
all the programs that i have used like gsen etc, dont override the keyboard slide. It seems to have some hardwired switch which overrides all of those programs and forces landscape, and then back to portrait when you slide it back in.
Hello.
I asked this already 100x,but I got no answer,so I try again.
Is there a way to disable automatic rotation when sliding the keyboard out?
I hate it.
If I need,I can do it manually(maybe 1% of the time I need landscape) and the rotation is unwanted slowdown.
Can someone modify the sensor driver or show me another way,how to achieve this please?
I'll be soooooo lucky then.
Thanks.
?
How do you use the keyboard if the screen is not in landscape mode ?
I doubt there's a know method, because you're maybe the only person in the word who don't want the landscape mode when using the keyboard..

Mostly I am using keyboard for ICQ for really short messages.
Few words I want to write will take 3 seconds normally, but with rotation it takes 20.
It makes me no problem to write "Hi" when notrotated screen.
If you screen rotation back and forth takes 17 seconds,
then there's something wrong with your ROM...
Anyway, I'll try to make a little app for you, but I don't know if it's going to work...

Please don't solve this. I want to solve just a simple thing - rotation disable.
Simple

I have the perfect idea.....if you don't like or use landscape and you don't want the screen to rotate......DONT SLIDE OUT THE KEYBOARD.....lol.....i'm sure you know there is an on screen keyboard to use in portrait mode when you want to text or instant message. Pretty simple.
I do find it very weird that something like that would bother you, besides the fact that the rotation can lag at times. You should have got an Iphone or something without a keyboard.
I couldn't find any way to make Windows stay in portrait mode, BUT... when you're in landscape it will stay in it! I mean, screen won't change to portrait, when keyboard will be closed. So maybe you want to stay in landscape instead? I've written tiny app to change rotation back and forth...
1. I bought TP,because I USE keyboard(One more thing that leads me to upgrade from Himalaya)
2.Thanks,that I know. Maybe the driver has hardcoded the angle to rotate(270dgs) and I want to change this angle to zero(or in a better way to disable it completely),but don't know how.
I want to use portrait instead of landscape, because is much comfortable for me for 90% of time and apps. I can easily switch to ls by pressing a button.
I just noticed it now when I opened my browser to do a search, and it won't rotate. I have auto-rotate enabled in Settings -> Display, and Handcent has an auto-rotation setting that is also enabled.
I'm also using LauncherPro, and I disabled the auto-rotation there (but that only eliminates the rotation on the home screens). Not too sure what happened, anybody have any ideas?
//edit
It actually works, but only when I rotate it clock wise - when I first got it I've been rotating it counter-clock wise, is there an option to enable both ways, or is the new Froyo 2.2 only one direction?
strange, I'm not sure the problem but in Froyo my screen rotates both ways, in Eclair it only went so the soft buttons/trackball are on the right side

Yep I remember rotating both ways with Froyo when I first flashed Cyanogen 6.0. It's weird because when I open YouTube, it rotates counter-clockwise (track ball is on right side). When I open a Browser and try to rotate it counter-clockwise, no luck. But when I rotate it clockwise, it works!
No idea if I changed a setting or not (girlfriend was playing with it) so I can't provide much details on that. I've installed a couple of widgets (SwitchPro) but I'm sure that won't effect anything.
hi guys. I just installed cm 10.1 on my nook HD Plus. I like it so far but I have a few unanswered questions I hope some kind soul will help me with. first off how do you take a screenshot?
Is there a way to lock rotation?
next, in stock browser I seem to be having a problem that happens repeatedly where instead of scrolling with one finger I end up zooming in and out. this is very annoying. how can I disable the one finger zooming feature?
if anyone could recommend a good keyboard I can download that has a numbers row on top like Samsung's but it also must keep the microphone key as I use that frequently I would appreciate it.
I'm wondering also if there is a way to move the back, home and recent apps buttons over to one side or the other of the tablet screen

You need to set up screenshots in settings. Go to system and power menu.
And I recommend the Hackers Keyboard. It has a 5 row option with the numbers and microphone showing. I also has cursor keys so you can move the cursor around to correct mistakes.

Hackers Keyboard is very nice. It is taking some time to get use to it but i I think we are going to get along. Thanks for that and the screenshot.
Well after extensive searches and reading i have found the answer to all my qestions except the one finger scrolling. Tablet ui flash is great for the back, home and recents plus status bar. Rotation toggle is hidden deep in settings..
