OK so my HTC one won't turn on won't charge led doesn't even glow ..the problem started when I downloaded kaspersky i doubt it is their fault and I couldn't prove it was their app but now my phone doesn't even start or charge I'm so worried and I have held the power button for like 5 minutes !!!! ..it started with qpps crashing randomly like the messenger the text messenger app the Google play music then it sort of soft reset rebooted and said android is upgrading I uninstalled kaspersky and then tried to clear my phones cache with 1 tap cleaner I think but while it was scanning it froze again literally the problem started like 3 hours ago..and well it froze I tried to hold the power button to power off and it didn't for a long time then it finally did and I couldn't get it back on .....help!!!! Any ideas ????

I actually just did a warranty exchange due to a HTC one that would not charge. Do verify there is nothing in the USB port. Even small lint can keep charger from making contact. With charger connected hold power button for up to a minute see if light changes then.
With phone off, fully charge, then see if you can boot into bootloader while holding volume down when powering on. Do this with no cable attached and continue to hold volume down until hboot. Once in hboot, volume down to factory reset and click power to select. If you dont see factory reset you may be in fastboot mode, if so volume down to bootloader and power to select, then factory reset This will erase your phone. If software is to blame for the issues this will fix it.
Lol...from my observation..this problem getting bigger..i also just had the same problm..my case battery were drain completely..i try to charge for 2 days straight..still no led light...its going to htc center soon..
Mine is only 1 month and 10 days old!!

So my htc one running cm10.1 died and now wont charge or boot. ive left it charging for a while and nothing no led or splash screen when i hold the power button, also the charger doesnt get hot so i assume no current is passing thru it to the phone, ive tried other chargers and cables and nothing also tried plugging it in nothing works. I dont have insurance on it so thats not much of a option. any other suggestions im having a similar issue to whats in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257448

anyone know anything else to try?
Weird, I would let it sit for a few hours to make sure the battery is completely dead. I bootlooped mine a while ago and even holding down power wouldn't make it reboot. After letting it sit, try a different charger see if the LED light starts blinking when you plug it in. It should stop after a few min turn solid, I would wait at least 10+ min then boot the phone into bootloader to hit recovery to restore a nandroid.

it's power volume up to reboot, you've probably already tried
Had a problem with no charging after rooting, though I think it had more to do with my car charger. Contacted HTC and they suggested holding volume and power buttons simultaneously for two minutes to re-calibrate the battery. My phone is charging again and no more issues since I tried that. Worth a try.

The bright light thing worked for me. I was in a similar situation after my phone shut down during an OTG transfer. I tried everything and nothing worked. I figured I had nothing to lose, so I held it directly over a 100 watt light bulb and it booted right up.

I've tried with no luck, and while were at it just because you can get it to come back on with such a peculiar method we must ask ourselves how many times we would be ok with doing that to bring our phone back to life? there must be an answer to all of this somewhere but its kind of hard to pull any logs off and device that is 100% bricked.
Okay guys so I know that there are a ton of threads discussing the issue of not being able to power down the Captivate. What I haven't seen are alternative solutions. Like if I broke the power button off the mobo would this tear my phone up completely or would it stop the phone from thinking it was constantly being stuck. I did the key test and didn't see it as stuck or being pressed yet when I remove and insert my battery it turns on. Is there anything else I can do other than paying money I don't have to fix it? I tried the CRC cleaning method like six times and nothing. Please try and think of other ways to fix this. I have MANUALLY remapped the Volume Up button to be the power button and when I select power down it starts to power down then vibrates and freezes. Also if the phone is plugged in I can get it to power down to the battery charging screen yet when I unplug it, it powers on. I know you guys are extremely smart so I'm sure we can find a fix to the freezing when powering down without shipping our phones off.

The crc method works most of the time for me. One of my Cappys the crc didnt work on and since it was a spare I wasn't gentle with it. I took the mainboard out of the phone and holding it I smacked the exposed button on the corner of a table a few times and haven't had an issue since....and yeah, it's pretty easy to rip it off too if you just want to break connection....On an old board, since the button is so small I just ripped off the button and soldered small wires to the contacts and attached an external button...looked funny but it worked....

Also, when I use the crc, I take out the mainboard and use the crc straw extension to push in the button and spray like that so it can really get inside the button casing. Then I tap the button rapidly off a table or a wood block....good luck, I know it's a pain...

I used mine no problem with the button pulled off of it. I turned it on one of two ways. Either with a failed jig I made that wasn't quite enough resistance to put it into download mode, but when I inserted it it would just power on the phone, or I would use a cable I made for dock mode which would also power on the phone.....As far as actually freezing when powering down, I have only seen that on one of my phones running gamerz rom. Usually when the button is stuck it just restarts after you power it off, but for me with gamerz rom, it instead was just locking up and the screen would stay on till a battery pull, or holding volume buttons and power button for about 5 seconds.(actually I just held the volume buttons since the power was stuck on).
In short though, if you pull the battery and put it back in and the phone boots up on its own, it is definitely the button stuck on.
Yes mine is stuck on and I want it to stop so I guess I'm ripping the button off haha

lol before you rip it off, you may as well try hitting the button against something a few times to see if it helps....you would be better off with a power button than trying methods through the usb to power it on from a powered down state. Besides, to rip it off means you gotta take out the main board anyway, so it may be worth a shot.....If you do just rip it off the board, you can find a thread here on resister values to make a usb dongle that will turn the phone on.
Just saw your other thread about a jig so you have the resistors and probably the thread too....If you have any doubt about resistors and about any other electrical components I recommend an app called electrodroid. it has a free version and is very handy in helping with resistor values and the color coding.
I can CONFIRM that taking out the main board and CAREFULLY prying the power button off or using small pliers DOES stop the phone from freezing on power down and I ALSO found out that my Download mode three button combo now works!!! So if you're in a pinch for money and your power button is stuck in the ON position and need to flash back to stock or need download mode to work. This is a great temporary fix. Then when you get the cash just order your button and have someone that's good at Soldering solder it on for ya.

Hi I really need help with my HTC one,
I came back to it while it was charging, and the screen was on displaying dialog box saying that the phone will restart in one second. I barely had time to read the text but the phone went to a full black screen with both the back button and the home button flashing. Now these two buttons are constantly flashing even though I'm not holding any of the volume or power buttons down.
So both buttons have been flashing for over an hour now and they keep going. I've tried holding down the power button nothing happens. I tried holding down the volume keys nothing happens. Power and volume down...nothing.
I need some help thanks

Sounds maybe like a hardware problem? Try holding down power button while holding the phone directly under a bright light for around 30secs. If that doesn't work try power and volume down together, again under a bright light until your bootloader screen appears.

Bright light helped,
Power button managed to get the HTC quietly brilliant screen, but then goes to black screen and back to that htc screen again and again...
Power and volume down gets me to bootloader screen but within a few seconds I get back to the same looping htc screen...

Stock, not rooted,
How would I know if I'm in recovery...? So most likely I would guess that I wasn't, unless I am now since fiddling around the bootloader screen (like I said, on that screen I have about two seconds where I can move up or down but then I don't have time to select an option and the phone goes to the HTC screen...)

You probably weren't in recovery. Did you get the phone new or used? If your bootloader screen says **LOCKED** at the top of the screen and you got it new, if it were me I'd take it back to where I got it.

How did you end up getting this fixed. I'm just getting this same problem and I have no clue how to fix it.
I have HTC One I bought it from ebay, the problem is not turning on and not charging either, it did try to turn on once when it was plugged in to my PC but screen showed up for brief moment and vibrated but disappeared after that.
When I plug the phone to PC it is trying to load the driver and also show up as Android 1.0 in device manager (see attached), and also PC making noise same as when we plug some thing in USB.
I tried to hold volume + power and PC making noise like something detecting but nothing showing up in my computer.
I really appreciate if someone can help me to narrow down the problem.
Thanks

When you hold power button for more than 8-10 secs, is the notification light(it will be in the upper speaker) turning on atleast?
anyway, it sounds like a manufacture defect, i would recommend you to return it in HTC service center ASAP and get a replacement to avoid any future issues.

I cannot send as a warranty replacement since I don`t know the history of the phone.

Correct me if I m wrong, if there 8s any problem in mobo it woun't show up on PC as an android device. So I think its software messed up.

Have you tried a different USB Cable? Different USB port?
Install HTC Sync, then uninstall it, but keep the drivers when it asks.
Hold Power and Volume Up at the same time, can take anywhere up to 1 min.
Post back if you get anything.
Yesterday I booted into recovery mode two times
1st time I tried factory reset nothing happened
2nd time I tried ruu, and it get to point where ruu tried to reboot and after that nothing
And I was not able to boot it again.
They way it got into recovery I hold it volume down + power
But after two bootup red light started flashing agin as before.
Any gelp will be appreciated.

well...this kinda ruined my night yesterday...I went to a concert yesterday around 8 and my phone had 70% and I was checking facebook or something like that and without no notification or warning it froze and turned off on me. I figured it was a normal freeze..and I attempted to turn it back on and nothing happened. Went to my car to try to charge it and nothing. Not even a charging light. A day has passed after the concert was over (could not take pictures, thanks htc..) and now the "dead battery symbol" comes up and the orange light keeps BLINKING..to my understanding it means that it is not charging? What could it be..anybody could help me out .maybe a soft reset? no charging it for a couple of minutes?
Anything would help. Thanks..:crying:

You should be able to hard reset (not factory reset) with just power and volume up, hold for 15 secs. That's how I got out of a broken recovery screen.
