Someone should leak 4.2.2. - Sprint HTC One (M7)

So it is pretty clear to me that Sprint was sent 4.2.2 to start to test before the plug was pulled and they were told to wait for 4.3. You know it, I know it, Sprint knows it.
So while we wait for 4.3 I think that someone who knows someone's neighbor's sister's ex-boyfriend that babysits for a Sprint tester should do their best to get a hold of the unfinished 4.2.2 and release it to the masses.
Thank you and good day.

I'm gonna go ahead and go with, you know nothing about the process of which HTC and Sprint use to test together. I would say that they probably never got it, and Jason MacKenzie mentioned that they were skipping 4.2.2 long after the decision was officially made.

Wow, what a waste of a thread.

Ha plus there is a 4.2.2 Rom already... Rage

hawks 4.2.2 rom is awesome, I have no issues at all and in fact i find it very fast with great battery life. it is really well put together. I dont have 4g so I cant speak for that but everything else is working no problems.

Funny to see these threads like; "where is 4.2.2?" or "why have US Carriers not released 4.2.2?
With a couple of minutes on Google Search, 4.2 had below have Java Script security flaws that concerns Google; hence the reason they pushed 4.3 out quickly. Why would HTC US Carriers spend any time 4.2?

So basically, to satisfy your flashing fancy, you want someone to intentionally breach an organization's opsec and potentially put someone's job in danger? Nice.

You guys are really jaded and unnecessarily serious around here. Coming from an S2 and S3 I have seen tons of leaks on Sprint. Granted this is HTC and not Samsung, but still. There is plenty of reason to think that there is a 4.2.2 build specifically for Sprint somewhere out there.
There are ways to leak things and keep your job, apparently, or leaks would not exist.

Agreed. Two years ago I bought the Nexus S 4G from Sprint thinking I wouldn't have to rely on Sprint for OTA updates but I was wrong. OTA updates consistently came months after their GSM counterparts so I ended up rooting the device and installing CM and then Slim which in retrospect was the best decision I ever made while owning that phone. Hopefully as time goes by we will get more choice and variety in terms of custom roms for the ONE although with the Galaxy 4 shipping with 4.2.2 I have to imagine HTC will be sending out an update soon so it can better go head-to-head with its biggest competitor.
i dont think thats fair. When i had my S2 we always got the updates before any of the other carriers in the us.
I just got off the s2, updates sucked. Thankfully the guys here got rooted leaks for us. I think jellybean it's dropped a month ago. I'm really waiting on AOSP for this

Not to mention, HTC already has Android 4.3 from Google, and they've been testing it. With as big of a Saving Grace this phone needs to be for HTC, I would assume they would get this out as quickly as possible. We'll see 4.2.2 soon, but I think we'll see 4.3 sooner than later.

No, certain members just happen to know someone who tests lets say Samsung's test builds for a certain device, so they have it sent to them by their source and then leak it. There's no leakedromsforsprintphoneblog.com or anything.

Knowing Sprint we won't get this update for 6 months after it is officially released internationally. Android handset manufacturers need to take a cue from Apple and tell them that they have no say in updates other than makeing sure they are compatible with the radios on a particular device for their network. If Apple can do it so can they, or does apple hold a patent on that.

My point is that the carriers hold up updates period. Doesn't matter which carrier it is. Sprint may be faster than other carriers I won't deny that, but they still delay them for what ever reason. I am not hating on sprint alone, they are all guilty of it. I realize they need to test the software on their particular network but that doesn't always justify the length of delay. But thanks for playing.

Just a heads up I downloaded the android revolution 4.2.2 that was released in the International ONE forum and it has a sprint folder in it with sprint libs, etc so you guys may want to check it out. It also has t-mobile and at&t folder too so i guess he's for one fully compatible zip. Dev is a beast. Also the zip is about 1 GB...all the separate carrier stuff bumped it up a bit.
Try at your own risk.....
EDIT...I checked out his install script and he got the right partition numbers for flashing on the sprint one.
I wouldn't say the carriers "hold" the updates. Lots of testing is needed to insure a good product on their network.

Keep in mind several factors:
A. HTC might not even push their updates to American carriers until they're done with international versions, due to customizations carriers require here.
B. Different modems and signal bands require additional development and testing time.
C. The testing of a device is actually quite lengthy, because the last thing a carrier (and HTC) wants is some incompatibility causing interference with towers or something. This is why the FCC checks these devices btw.
My friend on T-Mobile is getting the update OTA right now as I type this... c'mon Sprint!

4.3

Is anyone else kind of annoyed about these other phones that are skipping 4.2.2 and going straight to 4.3? I know there won't be any major differences but I feel like we bought the latest and greatest but are getting shafted. Last rumor that circulated said the update for 4.4.2 was going to be around 01/24/14 +/- so if I was a betting man I'd say it is a minor update to fix the issues with the 12/18 update. That and the HTC site that they say provides "real time updates" on OTA development says sprint is still in the integration phase of the 4.4.2 update (certification through carriers and google would need to go pretty fast to make it out by wednesday). I wouldn't put too much trust in HTC elevate though, the entire site seems to be a "pat HTC on the back" community.

It's interesting to see they keep doing this type of small updates instead of go for the big deal. Unless they are addressing some serious problems(like security issues,) they should test the heck out of their one release and make it solid, instead of pushing one and the other just trying to fix the bugs in the fix they just released. it's a PR nightmare to me for these kind of activities.

I joined elevate by follow a link from here, and found it little use. I can't find any valuable information, but just a bunch of people discussing pointlessly. Anyways, HTC is a phone manufacturer, not like LG or SS with all the material, parts, a lot others. So I doubt they can come up with anything revolutionary. They have better software functions, that's true.

Just hang in there. Original reports about the update were for tomorrow. It is possible Sprint Jumped the gun on this one and released notes early.
Here it says the update should roll out today http://m.androidcentral.com/sprint-s-htc-one-gets-some-bugfixes

Sprints roll out began today...

In the official capacity we are now last. Right on schedule VZW.
I bet just to troll us, they announce it tomorrow but the release will be at the end of the month
Not sure why everyone is all fired up about it. Not like 4.4 is much different than 4.2
They didn't even give us art.

Such as? Maybe I'm ignorant and the signs are right in front of me, but I haven't seen anything that makes me excited to receive it.
I'm aware once the radio sources are dropped and they are put to work a bit then the sod and random reboot issues should be taken care of, but that's about all I've seen being said.

Have you ran the "leaked" VZW KK build?
Kitkat is a whole different world,Completely Night and Day. Amazingly smooth, its lightening fast and extremely stable.
Art or not, this is a legitimate huge performance step forward.

Nah, I haven't played around with it yet. Honestly Ive never had any issues with the stock speed. Once animations are turned off.
Guess its one of those gotta try it to understand it thing. Coming from my last phone being the first gen droid RAZR, I've never sat back and wished my g2 had more speed.

its alot nicer for animations, snappier, the whole kitkat look to the notification bar, fine tuning under the hood, tap and pay, cloud printing. give it a go
We probably won't see an update till after the g3 and s5 are released.

I suspected qtr1 was out of the picture when the drop date of the m8 was announced. Vzw doesn't like to have anything current impede the new baby.

Yeah I said that on another site and someone said updates don't affect phone sales... when the average consumer doesn't know of updates and Verizon and OEMs market "latest android software" many people will want it.

HTC one Max on verizon got updated and yet we're still waiting. :banghead:

It's so......awesome that the phone that was never displayed in a store gets the latest update. How can anyone want the g3 when LG cares little to get phones updated.
Htc obviously did something to convince VZW to update their stuff yet the g flex is rocking 4.2.2 and the same with ours.

I don't think it's LG in this instance. I think it's Verizon, and I think it has more to do with the m8 launch than it does with whether or not the update is ready. They don't like to have anything mess with the new revenue stream.

Agreed... Think about it: would the company make more money by keeping everyone's android system slick and up-to-date, or by enticing those with outdated devices to pine over the newest phone, with the NEWEST OS? Having worked customer service for a VZW contractor in the past, I personally know that making their customers happy (with no direct profit) is at the bottom of their list.

Bluetooth LTE will be nice to have. I've been waiting for it so I can connect to my Garmin watch and do live tracking. I need at least Android 4.3 to do this. (which VZW skipped )
I can't believe Verizon still hasn't pushed 4.4 update,this is ridiculous :banghead:

I've given up hope. Its the usual state of mind one arrives at when dealing with VZW. You go though denial, anger and rage (quite a lot of rage) before reaching acceptance

You are not far off the mark. It is also possible that they are not going to update the phone to 4.4.2. Just because LG stated they would be for all variants does not mean Verizon will do it. I came from an LG revolution which at point LG said would get ICS, needless to say that phone is still only running 2.3.6. We guessed that VZW cancelled the update. LG support stated that it was working on a upgrade and that it was in testing and then nothing...
I hope I am not reliving things again. If I am, at least the base phone and stock OS are really good.

I don't think so because there's already a stock leak build that works 100 percent. I think they're just waiting and they're gonna merge the knock code in and release it as one build rather than releasing 2 separate ones
