[Q] Remove Unlock flag without ADB, using just Fastboot - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone
Been running through the hoops on this one. I, along with several others on the board, appear to be having faulty usb ports. whether or not it is hardware is undetermined, but returning to stock by flashing a RUU hasn't fixed it. I can access the phone via fastboot, but not via adb. When the phone is on, the bottom port is useless. If it does notice somehting plugged in, it immediately goes into car modec and says i have the wrong adapter.... mind numbing.
Is there any way to remove the unlock flag from the bootloader via fastboot?
thanks guys

you need s-off to be able to get back "locked" flag..

Can't Root - "searching for the phone" please help

psouza's one-click root is not working for me. when i try to run it, it says "searching for the phone" and hangs.
I just got a replacement from Verizon and i notice it is XT862. Does this matter?
I have the proper drivers installed, I have Debugging enabled, and it USB is set to Charge Only. Not using the original usb cable bc I don't have it (does this really make a difference??) but i have tried numerous different cables.
When I go into adb and type adb devices, it says list of devices is attached, and there are no entries. It seems my phone is not being recognized, despite the f
Any ideas???
Did you try mass storage or pc mode?
I had that issue with my USB cable. I used the one with my device and it didn't come up. I went grab another USB cable in the house and it worked.
yeah, tried them. Didn't mention that cause if I understand correctly, it should be in charge only.
thanks for the help!
I hope you figure something out good luck
Edit: have you tried running command prompt as administrator?
yeah. same result.
I read in another thread that you were required to us the cable that came with the phone for it to be detected. But also, I used a BlackBerry branded cable to do it on mine, and it worked.
come to think of it, i think i used a blackberry cable to root my first d3. will give it a shot and report back.
why the heck would it matter what cable you use? Though it doesn't make sense to me, it appears that the cable is indeed important.

Download the USB and Charging Drivers off of Motorolas website, make sure your phone connects to USB mass storage after you do this, then switch to charging mode.
It took a blackberry cable *and* reinstall of the moto drivers, but im up and running and rooted. now, to figure out how to get my other d3 to stop bootlooping...
glad to hear that you were able to root sorry about the bootloop though, have you tried using the SBF file to flash your rom back to stock to attempt again? i'm just getting into the d3 mod scene so i can't provide links to files or anything other than what i was told to do in response to questions i had and unfortunately that was one of them lol,
I had to use the cord that came with my phone. For some reason Motorola is bad about not using standards. For example there was an old 355 flip phone that is a Motorola I used to have and it wouldn't charge with anything but a Moto charger. It may be the same port but not the same compatibility. Thankfully it will accept a charge from any microUSB source.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Doesn't your phone have to have "USB Debugging" enabled as well?
USB Debugging enabled + choose Charge Only mode. That should do it.

Yeah, I was able to flash the SBF. It was really exhausted and couldn't figure it out when I originally posted, but after a nights sleep, I was able to do it just fine.
Before I send my phone back to verizon, I was wondering - Is my phone still rooted after I flashed the SBF? I would ordinarily just run an app that checks, but i can't get past that annoying "activate your phone" screen.

uhm, what are you talking about exactly?
my keyboard is broken so they sent me a replacement. It was during the process that I was trying to unroot the one thats going back to verizon that I softbricked it.
I have fixed it. Now I want to know if the phone is still rooted or not. And the radios have been totally fine the whole time.

[FIXED Fast help needed about downgrading

Hi there,
I was downgrading using RUU to gain S-OFF, but during the RUU process there was an error that the USB was disconnected. I did not touch the phone so nothing moved.
Anyway, phone is laying here with a black screen and silver HTC letters, does not respond to Power Off or something similar, still connecten to PC.
What should I do? There is no charging light.
EDIT: Fixed.

How did you fix it? I had a problem downgrading using RUU.
Well the phone was just laying there with silver HTC letters, I was afraid to take out the USB cable but eventually I just changed the USB cable and restarted the RUU.
Error code was 170.

Error Code 170 is USB Connection error. That could be an issue with drivers (although probably not), USB Cable, USB port, Phone Port. Please check that all of these are fully functional.
@zzkonzz: Was there a specific error code for your issue?

No Error codes,RUU reboots my phone then just hangs on sending animated dots. Have now tried for an hour. My bootloader seems half broken. I cannot go forward with revolutionary.exe and I cannot go back to unlock bootloader or flash recovery.
I can run the nonverbose script and I have tried using all possible configurations, then attempting RUU and revolutionary. no luck.
Shame, I was enjoying tweaking my phone with just root and cwm recovery. Why did I make the jump to Soff?
I am sure there is a solution out there, I just have to find it.

[Q] Htc Warranty Problem..help!

Hey guys,
Ok so I've had my HTC One from launch (Australia) for just under a year.
It is still under warranty for at least another week (or another year if its two years I'm not sure, but anyway) so a few days ago my phone just decided to stop charging.
My device is rooted running Cyanogenmod 11 nightlies with TWRP.
The only way I can charge the device is to go into the bootloader > fastboot > powerdown (while device is plugged into ac) and once it shuts down it will start charging (so I know this isn't a hardware problem because it can charge).
Of course in order for me to claim warranty I need the device to appear unrooted so in order for me to remove the "tampered", "unlocked", and (soon to be) "relocked" messages I need to turn S-Off. To turn S-Off I need to use something like Rumrunner but I can only do this via adb. The problem is that even after installing countless drivers for adb my phone just won't connect to my PC (I think because the phone's usb port is mucked up), windows just reports that the device has malfunctioned and I can't adb into the device to do this.
I have managed to get connectivity happening by making my phone an ftp server and pushing files (roms) to it via ftp however I can't find something like rumrunner (to S-off) that I can use on the phone and not through adb. Is there I way I can S-Off without adb?
Can anyone help me out? Thanks for all suggestions.

[Q] Going back to stock without USB access

No longer have the device. Thanks for looking
I know on old/past devices, there was always a stock image that could be pushed to the device and loaded from the bootloader. I am looking for a similar solution for the HTC One. I cannot connect to the device via USB, so all the current outlined methods of using fastboot are a no-go for me. [RUU, fastboot, etc.] The phone is being sent in for warranty repair [not for the USB issue oddly enough, forgot to mention it], so i wanted to revert to stock.
Currently: Rooted, S-ON, HTC Unlocked Bootloader.
History of device: Fell in the ocean during his summer. After a bunch of flaky behavior, stabilized with only USB not working [but charges]. The phone started to loose SIM connection, so warranty exchange requested. [I know I will likely be charged, as the water-sticker is probably red, but wanted to try and revert the device anyway]
I can ADB via TCP/IP, but fastboot I know cannot do the same. Any way to revert or should I just ship it off and accept the inevitable
Thanks guys!

[Q] Softbricked, can't get into recovery,HELP with $$!! NYC

Hey guys,
Long story short.
I have a htc one m7 tmobile version
Flashed Kitkat with S-on (really stupid)
phone rooted
bootloader unlocked
S-On
Now softbricked, can't get into recovery, is able to get in bootloader, phone keeps rebooting.
Tried factory reset, no success
tried adb/fastboot, my pc wasn't able to detect the phone, no device listed
tried all in one flash tool, trying to reflash recovery, no success either cuz phone not found
when usb was plugged in, 'fastboot usb' shows up on phone's screen, but no real communication established. Windows' notification bar shows htc phone unplugged even though it's plugged in.
I guess usb debugging is off, but i don't know how to enable it
anyone had similar problem, any help will be appreciated
any NYC member here, i'm willing to pay 50 bucks for fixing this, sorry i'm poor, that's all i can afford T_T
Thanks in advance!!
