Hi guys! I just bought a used xperia z and it is updated to 244 version. I want to get rid of the carrier lock because I have no idea what carrier it is, and when putting my sim in the phone it just tells me "emergency calls only".
So, I have read about rooting and unlocking bootloader etc. What I have not figured out is witch of these actually unlocks the sim
I have no warranty so I don't care at all about that. Is it a good idea to root and unlock?
The problem is that when entering service menu and looking at SIM lock its like this:
[] Network 0
[] Network subset 0
[] Service provider 0
[] Corporate 0
[] SIM 0
Am i screwed or is it possible anyway?
I also got stuck at flashtool because my windows8 64bit has issues with usb drivers. I think I need a windows7 32 system to do it right?
PS. I can also buy the unlock code but if I read correctly because it now says 0 tries left that is no longer an option!?
My handset is SIM unlocked and the SIM lock section looks exactly like yours.
Perhaps try another SIM in the phone.
FYI, neither rooting or unlocking the bootloader affect the status of the SIM lock in any way.

I have tried 2 different SIM cards from different carriers. So what is the suggestion to do now? If neither rooting or unlocking bootloader will do the magic?
Hm, the guys over at htccode say they can unlock for 50dollars even though it says 0 tries left. Does it sound legit?

i believe that your phone is network blocked.
that phone will never get network whatever simcard you use. it will only work if the imei is changed(its impossible), or use the phone in another country(it will not be network blocked in that country).
edit: and probably the phone is allready sim unlocked!
Yeah that is what I believe to. Seems it is stolen so its blocked. Trying to get money back from the guy, otherwise I will sell it to someone outside sweden Thanks

I was planning on giving my uncle my ace and unfortunately when I put his sim in and try to connect to Rogers APN it says I'm unable to register on to the network. I put my sim in from my One V and it worked on that phone. I'm assuming it's carrier locked, how exactly can it be fixed if at all. Thanks.

the phone is locked. you need to get an unlock code. look on ebay or your local craigslist. you should be able to get it done for under $20

I've heard that cellunlocker.net works. It costs some money, but from what I've heard, it sounds pretty good!
Why I thought this wasn't the case is that my phone never asks for a code to be unlocked like these sites say, so I'm a little confused as to whether my phone is locked or unlocked.

There's probably a hidden menu that you have to access. I think if you get your code, specific for your device, they should give you clear instructions on how to get there... But they probably won't do it until you pay for it . I'll try and search around and see what I can find.

Alrighty! Here is the thread that you might be looking for. It's a bunch of hidden menus, and one of them might be the one you are looking for....

However, I still don't know how to unlock the phone haha Sorry about that part, just giving a few suggestions

I think u should edit ur apn configuration and use rogers setting.. may be u can find the rogers setting in their web..
You didn't specify which ROM the Ace was running. If its a stock Samsung ROM, I'd expect it to ask for a code, but with CM7 or 9, it won't since those build lack some libraries to perform the actual unlock.
To get your code look into the bml5 method.

Was your old sim card on a different network from where you got this phone from? If so speak to your carrier
This is the code you need to input when you stick a sim in a new phone. Some sims have this code some dont. You can add one or change the code as you wish. The existing code will either be something you set, or something the operator set on the sim. Have a loom at the operator docs. Sometimes these are defaulted to 1234 or 0000. Dont enter it wrong too many times or you'll lock the sim. You need the PUK code to unlock a sim for which the wrong sim pin has been entered too many times.
Other poss is that the Z1 is not sim free and is thus asking for an unlock code to allow you to use s sim from another network. There's a thread on here somewhere regarding what to type into the dialer to get to the service menu. The service menu will tell you whats locked.

no sir, it's the same network
Then go to your network provider and ask for another sim card, it should be free

Hey everyone.
I am having a real problem with my Sony Xperia T. I have searched forums and google to find a solution and nothing. Also this website is probably best when it comes to sorting out android problems. My Sony Xperia T (I think) is now hard locked. O2 (UK) sent me an unlock code which did not work and now I get the following within the service info > sim lock:
[X] network 0
[] network subnet 0
[] Service Provider 0
[] Corporate 0
[] SIM 0
I think this status means its still locked and I cant use an unlock code anymore.
Also I can't unlock the bootloader because I get the following:
Rooting Status:
Bootloader unlock allowed = No
If anyone could help I'd appreciate it even if someone can point me in the right direction
Thanks again,
Regards David
Normally the phone gives you 10 attempts. Did you use all 10? Looks like you may be stuck.
Also, not surprised about the Bootloader unlock allowed = no. A lot of our phones (that came from a carrier) have this status and there is currently no way to make the bootloader unlockable.
It first came up as only 5 attempts and trusting the code I've used them all up.
Yeah I agree a lot of Sony Xperia's have the bootloader set to 'no' currently haven't a clue what to do

I wonder....if the 5 attempts were used by you on that code they provided (and it is certain that you were typing the code correctly), could the carrier be persuaded to replace or repair the unit for you?

That's the next step.
I'm hoping they replace the handset or at least fix it and I'm 100% i typed the right code in. I will keep this thread updated because I've seen a lot of Xperia's being hard locked and no solution!
Hi people, after spending hours and hours looking at the forum and google about my problem i decided to start this topic because i could not find the solution
the fact is: i have a z3c (D5803), buyed in amazon in a travel, then i get back to my country with my new phone, and when i arrived, i found that the phone never detects sims cards! already tried with several diferent sim's, roms, and have no luck
when i put a sim in the slot, the phone recognizes that a sim is inserted and then reboot, but after that, it boots and when it finishes booting, i can see the message "no sim card found"
phone has actually instaled this rom: 23.0.1.A.5.77 - Unbranded - GEL [Latin America] (1290-6916) (i am from Uruguay)
model D5803
SI 1290-0543
any ideas?
thanks in advance!
Any ideas?
Is the phone operator locked?
Did you flash that firmware from Latin America or it was already loaded?

unlocked version, also tryed latin american firmware unlocked and i have no luck
the fact is that the phone says "no sim card detected", instead of no service or no signal

Then the only explanation is that it's broken.
Return it to Amazon, they usually have a very good return service. I hope it works in country too

any way to test if sim card slot is broken? (it is really difficult to send back the phone to USA for warranty from here..)

You did everything you had to do.
Did you test the phone in USA before backing home?
Try to look inside the slot, maybe one of the six pins is bended...
Yes, I already tried putting a small paper between Sim card and Sim housing in order to push the Sim over the Sim pins of the phone, no success..
I could not test it in USA because I do not have a Sim, but it is hard for me that the Sim slot could be broken, I have never seen something similar before
Do you know any specialized place to ask?
Also tried putting the empty Sim card housing (just to see if phones reboot without Sim) and it does not reboot! So it means that in any way the phone detects the Sim, but it does not work

That's why the first idea was it could be operator-locked.
Open the phone dial pad and press *#*#7378423#*#*, then tap on Service info > Configuration
and read your "rooting status"
Usually operator-locked phones give "Bootloader unlock allowed: NO"

Then your hardware is broken. It's not software related at all
I suggest you contact Amazon and try to find a way to send the phone.
If you can't, then try with a Sony repair center, as the warranty should cover this kind of problems.
Good luck!
It is hard to believe for me that ir could be a hardware problem, I mean the phone works great! I could not imagine what can happen that could make this problem, any idea of a specialized place to ask?
any suggestions?
I have recently managed to install resurrection remix 5.0.2 on my Xperia SP and it works very well except for one major thing, sim card.
When I start my phone I will get a prompt to insert my pin. Nothing wrong here, if I insert incorrect pin I cannot unlock my sim card so it's detected correctly.
After that I will get another prompt to insert a pin, this time it's a little different and the problem with it is it doesn't work. If I input the same pin as I did before it will say "Request for unlocking network wasn't successful" so I can only cancel out of that which will leave my sim card locked.
When I tried to look into settingsI found that "Lock sim card" option was not checked and if I check it, it will ask my to enter my pin which again doesn't work.
I tried setenforce 0 in emulated terminal which did nothing.
Also I looked on internet for this problem with no solution I only remember reading about some script which maybe fixes this issue but I don't know where I saw it or if it actually works.

The script was necessary years ago for a similar problem. Rr502 doesn't need it.
This problem sounds so strange, defectuve hardware could be to blame.
1. Please test your sim in another mobile phone.
If it doesn't work in there too, get a replacement sim from your operator.
2. Start from scratch. Go back to stock rom, test your sim. If it doesn't work then, you have to replace your mainboard. (Get one with unlockable bootloader!)
3. If all your hardware is fine, do ALL stock updates. 207 was the last one as far as I remember. Then, install rr502 again. It should work now.

Thanks for replying. I think I know what the problem is now. My theory is because I installed carrier locked firmware (there were only 2 for my country both carrier locked I guess), my phone locked my network and I had no idea that could happen. So of course I typed in bunch of random codes and wasted all my tries, also had no idea that could happen. That's why I thought It was ROMs fault but it seems that I flashed incorrect firmware and now it's too late. If I go to service menu a go to sim info everything is ok except sim network. And there are 0 tries left. Well now I have different firmware that should work fine with every sim card but phone is locked and the only thing that I learned is if I want to unlock that network it will cost a lot of money. I don't know if there is any other way to unlock it but yeah, it seems that now I'm stuck.

In this case, you definitely need a new mainboard.
There is no hack, no trick, no whatever. New mainboard!
