sony Xperia z1 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if the new xperia z1 will fit in the xperia z charging dock?

New dock for Z1 is model number DK31
Dock for Z is model number DK30
I am guessing there are two models for a reason.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

No, it won't.
I have the XZ dock and fits the Z perfectly with no additional space.
The Z1 is slightly taller and I think a bit thicker.

Definitely won't fit. Pins are in a totally different position for a start, and then the phone is also longer too.

The pins thingy on the phone does look a bit different dont you think so?

hey guys
does anyone know if the xperia z1 charging dock is the same as the z ultra charging dock? i want to order it online with my white xperia z1, both the docks look the same, but the z1 dock is currently not for sale but the z ultra is... so be really keen to see if anyone knows anything about the two
thanks in advance

Not the same, Sony indicate on the website if something can be used be more than one model.

Did anyone see a review where it showed the notification LED? Its the only thing I did not like on the Z since its too small in my opinion. I'll probably get the z1 if it's bigger
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 4

It's smaller.. As in thin, but a bit wider. I'd say the Z LED notification light would be easier to spot.

edit: that picture is not the z1, which phone is that? (sony logo is turned upside down - thats a bottom led, z1 got it on top)
might be the same LED though.

I have the XZU dock and as far as I know it will fit the Z1- the docks come with inserts for different sized phones or charging with cover on etc, it may not be an exact fit for the Z1 but the magnetic interface is the same so with a little fine adjustment I'm sure it would not be difficult to modify and fit snugly
When you put the phone in the dock the connector lifts up from the bottom of the insert using a magnet and attaches onto the phone interface, I am sure you could easily make your own attachment using a rubber strip or similar to what ever size you want, I will be using my ZU dock with my Z1

lol nevermind, i thought the gray part above the LED was the display on that picture, but in fact the display is yellow on that first picture? Also the table(?) where it's on on the second picture is yellow. kinda confusing

It's a very very good LCD. Better than XZ but not quite as good as HTC One nor Optimus G2 IPS on some very select aspects like viewing angles.
Comparing it to SGs4 Super-amoled is trickier tough as they are vastly diferent technologies and the fact that YOU like exagerated and extremely overpowering color saturation of AMOLED tech doesn't mean it's a better screen
Atm i think nothing beats LG optimus G2 Super-IPS, it's just a truly amazing screen in all aspects, miles ahead of AMOLED.
Z1 screen is fine tough.

Xperia TX and Nexus 4 screen comparison

In case some are still wondering how the Xperia TX screen (VA panel????) goes against a Nexus 4 with an IPS panel, here are the comparisons.
- Both phones have screen protectors, although the Nexus 4 is using its factory sticker, the difference in colour isn't going to go anywhere for anyone to notice.
- Both are set at maximum brightness with adaptive lighting off.
- Xperia TX has Mobile Bravia Engine on...to be honest, I didn't see a difference ON or OFF
- And perhaps you can suggest your own pictures to be used as comparisons if you think the sample Sony images are "somehow biased" on the TX...

}
As you can see here, the Xperia TX is more vibrant and colours are over-saturated. The Nexus 4 shows a slight bluish/yellow tint (shown as blue in this pic...unfortunately) and when put in direct comparison against the TX, it feels under-saturated.
Although the blacks seem to be better on the TX, there is just a SLIGHT sacrifice on the details.
The whites are more natural on the TX, whereas the Nexus 4 shows a slight blue tint.
Both displays are very nice and it would be quite hard to judge which one is "better".
Viewing angles, without a doubt, the TX lost this one and I would automatically know that even without comparing.
As shown, the Nexus 4 retains its colours and clarity even at an extreme viewing angle.
Whereas the Xperia TX, everything starts to fade away.
I guess if you're self-concious and don't want other people beside you to look at your phone...the Xperia TX is for you? LOL
Let's use a different picture.
Once again, the Xperia TX looks like it has better colours thanks to its over-saturation...whereas the Nexus 4 feels under-saturated with a slight tint of blue.
Again, despite having better whites and blacks on the TX, it fails to retain some of the detail...in this case, the Nexus 4 shows it.
Viewing angles, again...no need to compare.
So does this answer the people who are doubting the TX's screen? I personally think it's a great looking screen...minus the over-saturated colours.

There's no such thing as "only sold in Asia" if I can get this phone here in Canada through grey-market.
True. I ordered my TX (with the good screen) online, and it came to the USA within a week. Also, penta band is awesome. 3G/4G (nonLTE) works on all bands.

I bought my TX from a Sony store in Australia so it's sold here, even Vodafone stock it. I also have a Nexus and it's screen is much better.
your TX cover looks AWESOME! where did you get it from???
But how does the TX screen compare with the Xperia T LT30a have you compared ?

Didnt you post this some time ago in another thread?
Atleast I've seen the screenshots in another thread wich I also responded to.
Anyways. These screenshots made me want to buy the Nexus 4.
The Xperia TX images looks horrible. Oversaturated to oblivion if you ask me.
Are there any settings you adjusted, or is this actually default ?
I think the Nexus 4 screen looks way better than the Xperia TX.
This is MY opinion tho.
Those pictures don't make me want to buy a Nexus maybe if you showed me a screen that was some where in the middle of the two of them I would choose that one The nexus is slightly doll and the TX looks like a tv sometimes does when you turn the color up to high in the settings.

This surprises me. I have a Xperia T and the LG Nexus 4 and was comparing the screens today. My summary is simple, the T shows deeper blacks whereas they look a bit grey on the Nexus, whites are much better on the Nexus, nice and bright whilst they have a grey-ish tint on the T, colours look better on the T though, more vibrant.
Also, the Nexus screen looks brighter but in a glowy sort of way whereby the outer edges of icons look a bit odd and indistinct. The T's screen is flatter but crisper.

No, I'm pretty sure no one compared a TX with a N4 before. People right now are only focused on the Z and how it will compare with the other top dogs at the moment.
Both phones are 100% brightness as stated, with no 3rd party modifications done to affect the colour. The TX has Bravia Engine on, but I stated that I see no difference on or off so I left it on.
The Nexus 4's IPS screen is not calibrated well, therefore the colours are fairly under-saturated and does not represent what I think is the full potential of this display. There are PLENTY of users that state that the Nexus 4's screen looks dull and have used an app to correct the colour to their liking.
The TX does show over-saturated colours, as I have repeatedly have said. Personally, I think the display has some good colour reproduction and it's not overdone like the Samsung GS3. The LG's IPS is nice too as it's actually fairly neutral, but I personally find it dull if I were to compare it with my iPhone 4.

Black thing on Camera?

Please could someone tell me what this is and how to get rid of it? it just occured today and it's not software fault as I have re-flashed to stock rom and its still the same? So you're saying that there is no dirt on your rug? Look at the images you posted, the black dots are in exactly the same place on the rug in both of them.
If there was a problem with the sensor or lens, surely the black dot would appear in the same place on every image.

If you Google the problem you will find some people also have the same problem with their phones.

They each got their added bonuses I think. With the black one ya get the nice feel of that soft touch like the nexus 7, which helps with grip. The white one has a nice contrast look between the black n white, but it's white back is slick and I'm afraid I'll drop it without a case.

I hate the white speaker. Always makes me think I have a notification and why is the notification light on the bottom of the phone? I always pick up my phone upside down since all the other phones have the notification light at the top. So weird. Maybe I'll sharpie the speaker...
That's exactly why I went through the headache of returning my white one and waiting 3 weeks for a black one to arrive. If I had to look at that white speaker one more day, I was going to hurl. LOVE the white back, but after I put a case on, all I had to was the nasty white speaker to look at. It also too drove me insane thinking it was the notification light.

That looks quite neat. Another more durable possibility could be these oil paint based Sharpies
http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Paint...ffice-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1385141303&sr=1-23
I believe that the Nexus logo is created out of ceramic pieces and those markers are supposed to work on glass, so it should be fine.
Very nice. Will definitely have to give this a try.
And yes I thought thread was a hey look I changed my white ear piece to black. Which I actually like a lot. Don't know why people hate on it.

Am I the only one that randomly get a notification to properly seal my back cover to make sure it's water tight?
Also, can somebody post a picture of the inside of the back door? I wanted to compare it to my rubber seal as mine looks like it's at a different angle in one spot than the rest and wanted to make sure it's made that way and it's not a lemon,

get exactly the same, its as closed as its going to get but keeps popping up about closing the back properly when I turn the phone on.
I don't think there's actually any correlation to the physical condition of the back. I think it's just a cover-your-ass thing by Samsung.

Nope, not the only one -- I believe every S5 model does this. As someone said above, it's Samsung covering their ass so they can't be blamed if you get it water damaged. I get a warning every time I reboot, every time I unplug charger, and most times I pop off the back. I also don't see any box that says don't show again. I wish I did

Hmm, after taking another closer look at mine...I notice that same thing in about the same spot. It may not be apparent in the picture I posted due to the lighting and resizing it, but here's the full-res shot: http://i.imgur.com/oOoRfAW.jpg
Now I'm hoping this is normal and doesn't affect the water resistance lol. Even with it that way, I honestly don't see how it would affect the resistance.
Yeah i see. I guess its just less apparent than my black back

But you had to remove and replace the cover when putting the battery in, no?

Yes of course! I meant that I didn't touch or play with the rubber gasket

Ya, but weirdly, the first day i didnt get any notification, it only started the second day when i actually remembered it was IP67 and wanted to see how, it then that i removed the cover and got the first notification. So i'm pretty sure there is a sensor to detect if it was opened
Hi,
seems to me, as if it is designed that way. I'm waiting for my S5 to be delivered, but looking at photos like this one:
(Picture from "theguardian dot com/technology/2014/apr/11/samsung-galaxy-s5-review-android")
It looks to me like the rubber seal changes its path to accommodate for the little space, comparable to the space left at the bottom for the battery-remove-hole. Their rubber seal has your phenomenon too, so I'd say it is normal.
Greetings,
Zuujin

Rebuilding My Nexus 6

Hello world, I have the midnight blue nexus 6. I have had this device for awhile and over time its got dings and dents as well as a busted screen. I replaced the digitizer a few months back. Also replaced the mid frame and back battery cover to cloud white, got tired of the blue. This device us 2 yrs old and I'm starting to notice some issues with the device its self. No matter which ROM I run I have terrible lag and when I'm on the internet it just kicks me off. I believe its time to replace the logic board? Do you guys think putting in a new mother board will solve the problems?
Thanks

Did you ever replace the battery?
I got lagg, sudden shutdown, static noise etc etc due to a bad battery. Replacing the battery fixed it. Keep in mind to not buy refurbished ebay battery crap
No haven't replaced the battery yet. I have been looking at some battery's on Amazon. They have a battery called Newpower99 its compatible with the nexus 6. I think my device has the 3025mAh and the newpower99 battery is 3200mAh price is 45.25 I wonder if its worth it. Thank you for the suggestion I will start out with a new battery first then go from there.

I also got myself a custom back panel ^^

Sadly most colors are out of stock everywhere :/
I ordered some 2mm double sided sticky tape too just in case I need it for the back battery cover. I don't like using a hair dryer because I'm always afraid I'm gonna get the phone to hot. I need to order a heat gun that has a temp adjustment.

See what I mean. My device does stupid crap like this. It just acts like its got a mind of its on.

Yeah I saw those panels on eBay. I like the different colored ones. I have a red carbon fiber dbrand skin on mine.

@seahorsepip that battery is a little pricey. This is the one I bought. I hope its a good battery! Its rather cheap so that makes me think its not gonna be that great. Probably end up buying another battery just to be on the safe side..

I have no freaking clue as to why it posted those pictures 2x each lol..
Edit, there was 4 pictures instead of 2. I excited out of Tapatalk and when I opened the app back up the duplicate pics was gone.

I saw this picture on reddit: http://i.imgur.com/qpO8CQS.jpg
Seems he also colored the frame somehow.

When you replace the battery try to not break the flex cable going around it, I'm still waiting for a replacement wireless charging part because I did break that ribbon cable
I wonder how he colored the mid frame?

I'm unable to disable my lock screen pin. When I punch in the pin to disable it does nothing. When I got up this morning it would not let me remove the lock screen password. It just now let me remove it. This wouldn't be a battery issue would it?http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5885efb2d05a2/2017_01_23_06_53_09.mp4

That's very strange, there are pin removal zips, you can try that.
Are you running stock? It can be an issue after flashing mods?
But it's hard to say if it's battery related or not, I've had so many unexplainable weird bugs when my battery was dying...

If anyone is crazy enough: http://m.wikihow.com/Anodize-Aluminum
I don't know how else he would have colored it. It can't be a rusting process since aluminium rust is white.
