Notification about closing back properly - Galaxy S 5 General

Am I the only one that randomly get a notification to properly seal my back cover to make sure it's water tight?
Also, can somebody post a picture of the inside of the back door? I wanted to compare it to my rubber seal as mine looks like it's at a different angle in one spot than the rest and wanted to make sure it's made that way and it's not a lemon,

get exactly the same, its as closed as its going to get but keeps popping up about closing the back properly when I turn the phone on.

I don't think there's actually any correlation to the physical condition of the back. I think it's just a cover-your-ass thing by Samsung.

The prompt comes up after every reboot even if it's sealed properly. It's just a reminder. Just click the box not to remind you again

Nope, not the only one -- I believe every S5 model does this. As someone said above, it's Samsung covering their ass so they can't be blamed if you get it water damaged. I get a warning every time I reboot, every time I unplug charger, and most times I pop off the back. I also don't see any box that says don't show again. I wish I did
Here's the picture of the inside of my S5's back cover -- SM-G900A model:

Hmm, after taking another closer look at mine...I notice that same thing in about the same spot. It may not be apparent in the picture I posted due to the lighting and resizing it, but here's the full-res shot: http://i.imgur.com/oOoRfAW.jpg
Now I'm hoping this is normal and doesn't affect the water resistance lol. Even with it that way, I honestly don't see how it would affect the resistance.

Yeah i see. I guess its just less apparent than my black back

Ya, but weirdly, the first day i didnt get any notification, it only started the second day when i actually remembered it was IP67 and wanted to see how, it then that i removed the cover and got the first notification. So i'm pretty sure there is a sensor to detect if it was opened

Hi,
seems to me, as if it is designed that way. I'm waiting for my S5 to be delivered, but looking at photos like this one:
(Picture from "theguardian dot com/technology/2014/apr/11/samsung-galaxy-s5-review-android")
It looks to me like the rubber seal changes its path to accommodate for the little space, comparable to the space left at the bottom for the battery-remove-hole. Their rubber seal has your phenomenon too, so I'd say it is normal.
Greetings,
Zuujin

I'm not sure, I can only say we have been on holiday this week and it has been TORRENTIAL rain all week.
But my phone hasn't got that wet at all?!?!?
Also when we returned to our apartment each night it was VERY VERY warm in there. I'm not sure if that's caused the issue or not.
Anyway, I'll ring HTC tomorrow.

I was doing a clutch replacement on my car last Feb and I accidentally got brake cleaner on the back of my G1. If anyone felt or has/had a G1 will know the back has a rubber feel to it almost like the Nexus One. The cleaner was only on for a few seconds and the result was exactly what your picture is showing. It caused it to wrinkle and bubble up. I peeled it away and ended up buying a new cover.
yep, brake cleaner'll do that lol
had you tried to clean the trackball at some point recently?
if so, what did you use so i dont use it lol
I noticed a small raised area on my bottom cover that could be the start of something similar. Did you get a reply from HTC?

I haven'y been able to contact them yet due to the Easter break.
I will be doing it first thing Tuesday.
Hopefully they'll repair it under warranty because to be honest I ave no idea whats happened.
Okay.

They also didn't ask for a CC to charge against.
Fingers crossed.

I tried taking a photo of it, but it's near impossible to capture. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I didn't look for it after reading the OPs post. If it progresses I'll take one and contact HTC. Right now if I run my fingernail lightly across the front where the bottom half meets the metal frame I can feel a bump on the "teflon." Also when held up to the light and viewed at the proper angle I can see a very small line or crack.
If I posted the photos I doubt many people would be able to see it. Hopefully it stays this way and if it gets worse HTC will fix it.
Update:
Phone was collected Wednesday at 3:30pm.
They rung today to say it had been repaired and had passed final test and will be shipped either today or monday!
Not a bad service at all.
I'm presuming because of the speed they will send a replacement.

Supposedly it's military grade stuff so I bet it wouldn't even affect it. At the very least, I guarantee the effects of what the OP posted would at least be minimized greatly, if not prevented entirely.

LOL! Brake fluid and brake cleaner can look at plastic and it will dissolve. I don't care what grade it is, I promise you it will not hold up to it.
I tried taking some photos under sunlight to capture what could be the start of this problem. They are more difficult to see in the photos than with the eye, so I'm not entirely crazy about this and I'm posting these photos in case this can be used as an early warning sign of a more serious problem for other users. As I mentioned before I probably wouldn't have noticed for quite some time if I hadn't read the OPs post. The darkened spot circled in the photos is raised and can be felt when running my finger along it. When viewed at the proper angle there also appears to be a small crease/crack on the bump.
I had kept my phone in a full phantomskinz before and have since moved to a flexible TPU style case, so there's very little chance of me having bumped it somewhere.
Possible reasons this could be happening? Heat? Moisture? I'm really not sure, but if it turns into a problem like the OPs it could be trouble. Anyone think I should just contact HTC or should I wait and see what becomes of it?

why on earth would they put that ugly logo on this
i would buy it if it comes without the logo
the logo looks to be a sticker. i will be attempting to remove that sticker and maybe head to the mall later this week and get a vinyl "NEXUS" or maybe just a "7". Also thought about maybe a CM10 or an AOSP. just not sure yet. i'll post pics tonight if it is just a sticker.

I just wanted something that I could use in addition to the shell if I were to want my Nexus to sit upright, or if I was just wanting to take it out with some additional piece of mind.
I had to bend the corner tabs a bit to get it to fit correctly, but it seems to be working alright. It's definitely snug inside this bookshell case. I wasn't too worried about having the Auto sleep functionality, but at least this shows that you can use this type of case in addition to the shell.

The back of the watch IS the screw. Each indentation along the circumference of the back is a notch, there is a tool that lines up with them used to remove the back. From there you can access what guts the watch has. Hopefully this is an academic question though,. If you are looking for a working watch, I would agree that a jeweler or watchmaker is the better place to start
Firstly, you need a vice, in which to hold this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MKCLOCKS-Wa...OQ6Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1357217598&sr=8-2
The watch is locked into it face down.
Then you need this to remove the securing ring on the back:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DIGIFLEX-Pr...JDBQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1357217548&sr=8-2
By the time you have bought it all, it is probably cheaper to take into a jewellers. He already has all this stuff, and can whip it off in a jiffy.

The early morning troll gets the worm!
Take a strong pair of scissors.
Place the points of the scissors into two opposing notches on the ring.
While holding the scissors down firmly, and the holding the watch still, turn the ring anticlockwise.
Be aware that you may:
A) Break the scissors.
B) Slip and score the watch back.
C) Slip and stick the scissors into your hand.
D) Slip and gouge a furrow across the dining table.
E) Slip and sever a pinky.
F) All of the above.
Throw it to the ground :sly:

You're making it more complicated than it need be. He needs to make an exploratory incision to ensure that it's the battery then make a ring of plastic explosive around the cover to blow it off.
Take the watch.

Seems pretty poor for a phone with an IP57 rating as this has never happened to me with any phone I've had and I work in some pretty dirty environments.

When you see black dock means you need to send to service center and claim new one as got people did before. There is no way to fix this problem ,maybe camera had enter some water and spoil that camera.
Definitely dust inside. I've had it, still get it.... Best fix is to give the phone a bang... Seriously. Or try and get out replaced...

Ha! Same situation here. In the IT field and hate when I have to grab my phone after working on some dirty workstations or cabling. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a plain plastic backplate as well

Here's my leather back...not that dirty. Stitching is a little dark. Only issue is the corners. You can zoom in on the pic and see what I'm talking about.

Haha the dirt is hiding in the shadows
As long as theres no physical damage to the back, no corners frayed Ill trade.

It would probably come out better if you took the leather back off and snapped a pic that way :good:

seriously, lexol will clean it off. this is what happens to full grain leather. it tends to absorbs oils and dirt.

Yours looks decent enough. I am willing to trade ya.
I just took off my goospery tpu which I always keep on it, to take a picture and notice something. Take a look, dust must have gotten in there. I carry my phone in my pocket.
With flash I couldn't really capture it.
Looks good pm me?
