Hi:
I just updated to 4.2 and now can't download from the playstore. There are updates available but whenever I try, I get the following error:
Update for xxx could not be downloaded due to an error. Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])
Pretty fundamental problem. Any ideas?
Tom
I have the same exact problem.

same here!
Me too. Already cleared cache and data of the play store app.
I've tried clearing cache and data from the Google Play Store in Apps as well as a force stop but no luck. I did the same with Google Play Services but still no luck. I've seen websites that recommend deleting your account and then adding it back in but I don't know if it's a good idea with the N7
Tom
I can confirm that deleting your Google account and re-adding it solves the problem.

Worked for me too. No reboot necessary.
That commonly happens for stopping and clearing data of Google Framework services. Also break Push Notifications in some cases.
Fixes:
1. Clear data and cache of Play Store or
2. Remove and re add Google account and worst scenario
3. Factory Reset

no re-install needed.
when you remove your Google account it warns you will "remove contacts, messages, and other data from the phone", but it is not as bad as it sounds because it is NOT your personal data, files, pics, vids, etc it is ONLY the Google synced data like contacts, messages, etc that YOU WILL get back when you re-add the Google account and re-sync.
TL;DR removing your Google sync account and re-adding it results in NOTHING lost and fixed the problem for me

I've had this issue numerous times with the play store not just on 4.2 update, a good set of steps to follow to recover from this and most other store and sync issues:
1. Tap Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
2. Go to "All"
3. Scroll down to 'Google Play Store', 'Google Services Framework' and 'Google Play Services' and complete the following three steps for each:
Click on 'Force Close'
Click on 'Clear Data'
Click on 'Uninstall Updates'
4. Go into your Google account and disable all the sync options so nothing is ticked.
5. Reboot your device now, do not run any of the applications.
6. Re-enable all your sync options under your Google account
7. Re-Boot again, now you can go and try the Play store and let everything sync back up, should all be 'hey ho pip and dandy'.
I know deleting your account and re-enabling solves it, but I think it's always helpful to have different ideas and options
Hi,
I was doing a favour for someone who asked me to root their Kindle and install the Play Store.
I did this and I tested it with my own gmail account and everything is working perfect. However, now I want to give them back their tablet, but I can't see where I can remove my account/logout from the Play Store. Obviously, giving them back the tablet with my account logged in is out of the question.
I tried going into Applications and clearing the app's data. I also tried wiping the data in Titanium Backup. Neither worked.
Can anyone help me here?
Thanks.
Do you have 2-Step Verification enabled in your Gmail account? You could try revoking access to the device from your account management page I think.
No, I don't have 2 step verification.
Would it be worth my time to enable it just so this persons Play Store won't log me in? Surely there must be a way I can remove the Play Store, reinstall it, and let them log in?
When I was installing it initially, the steps told me to log in, and then continue with further steps where it upgrades the Play Store to the latest version and does some other stuff. If I could delay those steps, or put them into a shell script to be run from the terminal once this person logged in, then I suppose that would be good too.
Thanks.
Had this problem on a cheap tablet that I got play store on for a friend, add another account (theirs) then you can remove yours

Hi,
Thanks but that doesnt work either. The problem is that the actual "Accounts and Sync" menu isnt in the settings. The only indication I have of my account is in the Play Store app, when you go into Menu and Accounts. Its related to the locked down version of the Kindle OS I think.
It looks like I might have to wipe the whole tablet and put on a custom ROM.
Actually. I think I figured out a way of doing this.
I had my gmail account setup to use the Play Store, and had Gmail synced apparently. Then I added a second account but I hadnt opened the Gmail app yet. When I did, it asked me to setup sync for my second account since it was the first time I'd opened Gmail since I added the 2nd one. This gives a link to the default Android "Accounts & Sync" menu, in the form of a button at the bottom of the app.
I was able to go in there and delete my 2 accounts. So it seems we can get into the Accounts menu through a back door in Gmail!
PS, I tried it again to add the 2 accounts and make sure I could reproduce it, but it just went to my Gmail inbox and showed me my emails for my first account. Then I pressed the drop down menu up the top left of the app and it showed my 2 inboxes. I clicked the 2nd one and it then gave me the sync menu buttons again and I could reproduce it, ie delete both my accounts.
Now if only I could get the menu/nav bar to stay on when I don't unlock it straight away after a reboot, then I'd be done!
How did you you added a second account?
Hi, I'm exactly in this same situation.

Did you try the Google account from the settings menu. Tap on Google account then account name then remove. Then add new account.

Possible fix
When I downloaded Google Play onto my fire 10 HD I downloaded 4 apk (Google services framework, Google play services, Google account manager and Google play store)
Once I'd done that I mistakenly logged into Play on the wrong account.
When I went back to the home screen there was a 'Google setting' app icon there.
I tapped that icon and went to 'Google Account - info, security & personalisation', from there if you tap the small arrow at the end of the email address it gives you the option to use another account.
I added the other account and am now able to switch between email accounts.
Hope that helps.

This is quite easy and a two-minute task:
Open Plyastore on your PC/Laptop
Sign in to the play store using the same Gmail ID you want to remove from any device.
Once signed in Navigate to the setting by clicking on the Gear icon on the upper right corner of the screen.
Here you will find all the devices connected to your account.
Simply click and remove the device.
This will help you to remove the device or logout of the play store remotely.
This is the easiest and most effective way.
As @eoinzy & @Chotkach mentioned (Thank you)
1. Install Gmail app (Don't question it. Just do it)
Go to setting.
Manage account and here you can easily remove Play Store information.
[Q] Google account sync error - "Sync is currently experiencing problems..."
Hi guys,
I'm having issues with my Google account sync.
Google Play Music is causing my account to have a sync error.
I get the error message:
Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.
Click to collapse
And there is a sync icon with an exclamation point (!) by Google Play Music, when I press into my Google Account in Settings.
It's been like this for a few days now and I feel it's affecting my battery life, as the failed sync re-tries again and again.
Some forums have suggested disabling 2-step verification, removing the Google account and then adding it back, clearing app cache, etc.
I've done it all with no success.
For what it's worth, if I un-check the Google Play Music sync box and run the "Sync Now," sync all, their are no errors and the UI shows a successful sync icon.
I'm not sure what's going on here.
Thanks,

I just came across your post from a Google search and thought I would post my solution. This literally happened to me today out of nowhere(never had a problem before) and it totally stumped and frustrated me to no end. I tried cache reset, factory reset, all that bulls**t and it didn't work.
This is how I finally got sync to work:
>>login into your Google account from a web browser eg: google.com, play.google.com, wherever
>>in the upper right corner go to where it shows your profile info, click on your picture, and click Account
>>on the next screen click Security
>>where it says Account Permissions click View All
>>you have 2 choices: you can revoke access on everything you see or just extra devices. Personally, I had 4 Droid DNA's and 4 Nexus 7's listed from where I've done factory resets or ROM installs and I had to reauthorize my Google account. All I did was revoke access for the ones that said "no activity in the past 60 days". Within seconds Google Play was already auto-updating apps on my phone, I couldn't believe it.
This may not work for you but it's how I got it to work. Good luck.
Google looks to be having issues today so I would bet that's the problem

Just wondering if you anyone can confirm how "Huawei Contacts" can be disabled or removed without any issues. I have disabled it and tried alternative contacts apps like Exdialer, DW Contacts & Phone ....however, editing contacts or creating a new one does not work.
The reason I want to disable it as it may be one of cause of power drain on this phone. It has improved now after trying several issues like formatting sdcard, updating Google Play services, disabling other apps, etc.
Thanks,
B
Have you tried Gapps ? nandroid before ...and please report after
Thanks Vladi, I tend to disable all unnecessary Google apps even Google Play Having installed Google Contacts manually it works but forces you to save your contacts to the cloud (i.e. no local acount options). However, found a solution although not ideal - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fjsoft.mylocalaccount&hl=en (I use fjsoft Phone Manager in any way to install apps, etc). It also cannot import or export vcf file.
Thanks
Tried with Titanium?
How can I replace the huawei dialer with google app? and I want to use google contacts app as default as well.

i wonder how to import / sync google contact since on account & sync there is no Google Contacts options

You just have to install this 3 apks in this order, Google Contacts Sync, Google Contacts and Google Play Store. Don't forget to install Google Play Services if you need it.

Looks like the sync adapter does take care of the syncing for the calendar, works for me after the sync status has completed. But you could always choose to install Google calendar from the playstore. Then open Zui calendar > settings > then change the default calendar to Google calendar.
I managed to sync the contacts, my only problem is, profile pics are not synced. I had one Rom installed from Franco, the Sync Adapter was preinstalled in this rom, sync was with Pics.
Now on zui 2.5, no chance to get the pics.

Mine stopped working after a couple weeks but I got it going again. Definitely a hassle, though.
A little background: After a lot of playing with Mokee 7.1.2 (CONSTANT hard freezes with blue LED making me miss my alarm the next morning), RR, AICP, etc. I decided to just try and make ZUI work for me between Magisk for root and Nova Launcher. I had brought up a clean install from QFIL flash of ZUI 2.5.335, flashed TWRP 3.1.0 (LR.Team version) to recovery, flashed 2.5.415 update zip, installed Google Play Store, Play Services, Contacts, and Contacts Storage from apkmirror.com and set about making it mine and disabling Chinese system apps and so on. Spent some time screwing with Safe Center (which thinks AdAway is a virus, but oh well), it was pretty livable. Only hard freezes if I use bluetooth with my car too long, which IS pretty annoying. But I've never had it freeze overnight and make me late for work, and hey, the camera Just Works, and U-Health is pretty cool.
Anyway, after about 3 weeks it was working pretty well for me, I miss some of the CAF/AOSP kind of things, but at least they're deploying security updates even if it's still Nougat 7.0 based. But then I noticed a week ago contacts stopped syncing. I could switch sync off & back on for Contacts but it wouldn't update. I tried wiping data for all the Google things and even deleting and re-adding Google accounts, but that just resulted in no more switch to tell it to sync Contacts. Dammit.
I DID get it working again today: I removed all the Google accounts from Settings, then uninstalled Google Play Store (com.android.vending), Google Contacts (com.google.android.contacts), and Google Contact Storage (com.google.android.syncadapters.contacts - I used Titanium Backup to uninstall the package since I bought that long ago), and deleted the updated Google Play Services apk from /data/apps (com.google.android.gms - use whatever file explorer with root access you like, I'm a fan of Mixplorer from XDA Labs but I'm sure ES File Explorer will work great). Rebooted. Gmail app doesn't know what to do with itself now.
I then reinstalled with Contacts 2.0.8, Contacts Storage 7.0 (API 24 target, woo; maybe this will work better than the newer 7.1+/API 25 target one that I tried before), Play Store 7.9.30, and Play Services 11.0.55 (240 version - Android 5.0+, ARM/ARM64 v8 abi, nodpi) from apkmirror.com and specifically made sure to give them all full permissions access instead of leaving it at the more paranoid "prompt" settings. I then was able to re-add my Google accounts and get Play store and Gmail and all the other Google apps to see them again with a little effort (basically had to re-do all the Google apps; Play Books, Play Music, Drive, Gmail, Calendar, etc.).
But contact sync seems to be working again, both for new contacts created through a computer web browser and created on the phone. I'm a little worried it's only temporary, I guess we'll see. But deleting Google accounts, full deleting 4 packages, and reinstalling with full permission access seemed to work.

How did you manage to sync contacts? And does anyone else have "ok google" greyed out?
I am on zui 2.5.435 st installed via QFIL, BL unocked, rooted Super SU. The sync initially worked but after a few days stopped working as well.
New setup works again. But if I click on "Refresh" in google calendar the Syncing does not stop. Do you have the same issue? There is something broken.
Why can't we just use openGAPPS?

What ever I try. The Sync will not work. I reinstalled the google accound many times. Deleted all google apps. Started with Contact app but whatever i try. It always says: This account already exists on your device. Somehow after installing Google Contacts Sync it downloaded 47 of the 1250 contacts to the phone. Its not visible in Google contacts. those contacts are the contacts I recently added in the last year. Online I see all my contacts. Why cant I find all other contacts on my phone? I even changed data restrictions. Set it on "no restriction" and cleared cash and all after deleting google account end tried all possible varieties of this.. Still no success in the Contact app.. Weird thing is that when I ask Google app verbally to call some of my contactst it works. So all the contacts are clearly still in my google acount and even linked to my voice command for dialing. Only the contact apps dont show them.. What is wrong here? Spend all night trying everythng. Nothing seems to work..
