I bought a customized moto X on Motorola's website. It is an At&T phone without contract.
I paid $13 online for the unlocking service and received an unlocked code and the phone is sim unlocked.
Problem: I created a new straight talk APN setting , phone calls and text are working, BUT NO MMS AND DATA. I contacted straight talk many times and they sent me several APN settings , none of them worked.
I did a little research online, the problem might be caused by the two built-in att APNs coming with the phone. The sad thing is it cannot be deleted!
Further researches revealed in order to delete the att APNs the phone needs to be rooted. But rooting a ATT moto X requires a UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER! As of now only. SPRINT , VERIZON AND US CELLULAR HAVE UNLOCKABLE moto X , rooting cannot be done for my Att moto X ! I am desperate , please help, folks !!!

Ok well your main issue I unfortunately cannot help with but I can at least clear you of one misunderstanding that you seem to have.
Root does not require an unlocked bootloader. In fact root for AT&T is coming very soon.
Now, I don't know if rooting is even your best option, but if it is all you have to do is wait a couple days.

Straight talk tech support sent me another email containing a new APN setting and it is still not working, the emails says they did some adjustment from their end....not working ....
I just hope the AT&T root comes out quickly ......
But thanks for your post though

By the way, i was finally able to get the data and MMS work!!
Now it shows 4g LTE, I run the speed test on straight talk SIM, speeds is pretty steady, around 10M down and 2-3M up.

yes! can you please post how you got it working? i'm thinking about doing this too. thanks!
Yeah are there any tips anyone has? I just activated a AT&T moto X on Straight Talk and stupidly did the update so I can't root right now, Texting/Phone works but not MMS, I'm assuming because of the APNs that you can't delete?
Edit: see below reply.
wait seriously? you can't completely set up an apn without root on the at&t version? is this for real? i just bought a used one to use on ST, and i'm not sure i'm buying it but unfortunately won't know til i get my phone in a few days. can people with at&t moto x's on ST chime in?

Update! I went back and verified and I had actually messed up the APN, once I made it the correct settings and rebooted, I was able to SEND mms but not receive it. Then I woke up this morning, and now that is working as well. I did not root and still have the stock apn's in my phone, I just 'selected' the ST one.
I just got my moto x on ST today with the ATT LTE sim... no data/no mms... cant root cause of update.. if you guys have data working, howd you do it? My APN Below

mine worked fine as soon as i put in the new APN. looking at yours, the first thing i see is you have a port when you shouldn't. not sure otherwise. try adding a new APN and only put in values for what ST now gives with the tfdata setting (port is MMS port).
if that doesn't work, how old is your SIM? you may need the old settings to get it working.. they switched over to the new one sometime in the last few months and left everyone to figure it out but it seems that SIMs purchased after a particular, mysterious date need the tfdata one.
also, if you're just getting it set up today you might try waiting another day or so. i've jumped back and forth a few times and i know at least once or twice it's taken a day or so for MMS to catch up.

Note it looks like I edited my post after you replied. Meant port, not proxy - but leave MMS port. Also, you may need to wait a good day or so for everything to "take" with the new SIM after porting.

Yes it should. I've had to wait the better part of a day before for MMS to start working correctly, but can't remember the same for data (although it could be true). Did you reboot and all that jazz? Not to dumb it down too much for you, but did you remember to select the "bubble" next to the APN name after you saved it? I've almost missed that before. Other than that, I guess you'll have to wait 24 hours and call Straight Talk - they won't tell you anything other than "wait 24 hours" if you call before then.
edit: and can you make/receive calls as-is at least?

yep, i have the bubble selected on the apn screen and rebooted several times. I can call and recieve sms but no mms/data. Only other thing I wanted to try and can't is deleting the factory APNs, but can't with no root.
EDIT: I can see the "4G" symbol in the status bar, but never get connected.

Hey guys I just switched from captivate to Gnote, and trying to setup the data network here.
I had the original 3g plan with att, and I read on gsmarena that this phone supports LTE 700 which is what att is using right now.
So I am just wondering, is this phone capable of using the att 4g? do I need to get a new sim from them in order to get on the 4g network?
Thank you very much in advance!
LTE version or hspa version
did you buy the Korean Note that supports LTE or have a regular HSPA note. the regular note only supports the AT&T hspa and needs an 4g apn.

In short, GSMarena got it sorely wrong. The internationally available version of the Note, with the Exynos chipset, most certainly does not support LTE in any shape or form. It should also be mentioned that Verizon also uses 700MHZ LTE as well, but both AT&T and VZW use totally different blocks within that spectrum space anyway. So, I would find it strange that GSMarena may possibly claim that not only does the Note have support for 700MHZ LTE, but also every possible carrier block therein. Seems unlikely to me...
There are however carrier specific versions of the Note based off a completely different Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset designed to work on very specific LTE networks in other parts of Asia (mainly in Korea), and AT&T is rumored to have commissioned Samsung to build them their own specific LTE version of the Note as well. HOWEVER, I would fervently recommend AGAINST buying any kind of device commissioned and built specifically for any particular carrier. ALWAYS buy unlocked devices. By buying unlocked equipment, you are taking power away from the carrier that they would otherwise have over you when it comes to your consumer choice. Not to mention all the benefits and the freedoms you should enjoy by owning your own equipment, free of any carrier imposed limitations, bloatware *ahem*CarrierIQ*ahem*, and whatever other diabolical things carriers will inevitably do to our precious equipment.
Anyway, I'm getting side-tracked here...
To get your Note fully functional, and running optimally on AT&T, it's not quite as simple as just popping your SIM card in and off you go...
The three basic things you need to do are as follows:
1. Make sure you have the correct account provisioning.
2. Configure and use the correct APN('s).
3. Disable Fast Dormancy.
I'll cover these in more detail below, but first of all I need to clarify something: the Note supports 21mbit HSPA+, which if you want to call that 4G, OK fine. Personally I try to avoid marketing catch-phrases like "3G" and "4G" altogether, so henceforth I shall refer to the Note's mobile connectivity by what it actually is: HSPA+
Now, before you're able to fully take advantage of HSPA+, you'll need to make sure that your account is properly provisioned for that feature, otherwise you'll run into a virtual speed limit which will keep your device from reaching its full speed potential. So, in order to check that you have the correct provisioning on your account, you should call in to customer service and make sure you're on a proper 4G (not LTE 4G either!) plan. Ask them if you have the correct SOC code. In my case (grandfathered unlimited data user), my SOC code should be "HSDPB." If you're on a tiered plan, it'll be something else. Either way, you need to be on a 4G plan of some sort.
"Ok, how do I do that then?"
Easy. Go to you local store and get the IMEI from a similar Samsung device (from a connectivity standpoint anyway), like an Infuse 4G, or a non-LTE Galaxy S2. From the dialer, enter in *#06#, and the IMEI should show up. Make a note of that number (hehehe). You can probably find another IMEI on the internet, too, but either way you need that. When you call in to AT&T customer support, just tell the rep that you've upgraded your device to a *insert name of device from which you got the IMEI* that you bought on eBay or something, and you want to make sure that you're on the correct plan. Provide them that IMEI, and now your account should be provisioned for HSPA+ (YAY! WOO!).
Now that that's out of the way, you need to configure your APN or APN's if you're using more than one (this only usually applies if you're grandfathered into an older plan). Go to Settings => Wireless and network => Mobile networks => Access Point Names. From here, tap the menu button and select "New APN."
Populate the fields as follows (Case sensitive!):
Name: Doesn't matter, you can call this whatever you want.
APN: Phone
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>

Authentication type: <none set>
APN type: internet + mms (if you're on a tiered plan) or just internet (if you're on a legacy grandfathered plan).
This APN info above is for achieving the highest possible speeds over HSPA+
The next APN generally offers slower data speeds, but depending on your area may not be any different in terms of speed after all. This is the old legacy Cingular APN, and you need to input these settings if you're on a grandfathered legacy plan, otherwise you may not be able to send/receive MMS properly.

Congratulations! You should have now successfully set up both your account and your APN's properly for making your Note fully functional on AT&T! You should now at the very least be able to get onto the internet and browse etc. Pat yourself on the back!
But wait! There's more!
You still have to disable a feature on your Note called Fast Dormancy. Fortunately, this is really quick and easy to do. But first, what the hell is that, and why do I have to disable it? Well without getting all technical, simply put, it's a feature which allows a device to very quickly switch from an idle data state to UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ and back to idle again, and generally work more efficiently, thus improving performance, and saving battery life. Problem is, in order for this feature to work, BOTH the device and the network that device is on need to support it. Unfortunately, AT&T does not currently support Fast Dormancy. As a result, by having fast dormancy enabled on your device, it'll have the complete opposite effect than what it was intended to have. Basically, your battery life will suck more, data connections will be erratic, slow, and unreliable, and you're basically wasting data overhead on a feature that, for AT&T, just doesn't exist. Disable it, and your Note will fly like it was intended.
To disable Fast Dormancy, from your dialer, enter in *#*#9900#*#*
This should pull up your SysDump menu. There, close to the bottom it should indicate your current Fast Dormancy state, enabled by default. Select that option, and it should indicate that Fast Dormancy is disabled. Exit and enjoy! Reboot the phone for good measure though. You generally don't have to, but sometimes it irons out any issues that may arise.
Hope this all helps! Enjoy your Note on AT&T!!
P.S. Hey Moderators!! Can we by any chance get this tutorial posted up as a sticky? Seems to be the best way to consolidate for AT&T users. Thanks!

Gotcha. Wouldn't surprise me that the pta APN wouldn't have worked, because if I'm not mistaken, I believe that's the LTE only APN anyway.
Great post !
Thx for the 4-1-1!!! This was great. However, one question, i got the skyrocket for Xmas, I put the sim in and used the 'pta' APN i found on this site. Is that OK? im gettting download speeds ~2 - 2.5. Is that what the non-LTE apn speeds are like? or should i change the IEMI number with ATT as you described and get a regular 4g plan (non LTE)? thx again

Honestly, I doubt you'll need to change your plan as such. However, I would avoid using the pta APN, mainly because it's monitored and regulated much more heavily than the other two I listed above. From what I read a few months ago on the Skyrocket forums, people on the pta APN were running into issues where they were getting throttled pretty badly, and in some cases, even if they weren't throttled, some websites were simply blocked outright. The solution was to fall back to the older APN's. Now I don't know if the issues with the pta APN have been fixed or not, but I would still avoid it on principle.
As for your average speeds on HSPA+, my understanding is that the Skyrocket falls back to 21mbit HSPA+ anyway when LTE is unavailable, so I would assume that your account provisions should already be set up to take full advantage of that on your Note. That being the case, yes, the speeds you are seeing are consistent with average/normal HSPA+ performance.
Feel free to read the link in my comment about 4 posts ago to understand a little more about what kinds of speeds to expect based on a number of environmental factors.
Thanks so much for this info. This needs a sticky!
After trying both APN's listed in this thread, im not able to fully receive MMS messages. I get a message with a download button, but the pic will not dl after touching the button.
I came from a skyrocket, in an LTE area, then used a cheap samsung gophone for a week (what misery!) while waiting on my GNote. I looked under message settings, and do have a retrival phone number, and checked "automatically download". Text mesaaging works fine. Any advice?

Get rid of all the MMS info in the wap.cingular APN, and set up a new APN with that info and call it "AT&T MMS" or something like that. When you set the type to MMS only, that APN will remain active always (no green button next to it) and you should receive MMS normally.

Hi,
Can someone please shed some light on my problem.
I ordered an Atrix HD from eBay, thinking it was unlocked but later found out from the buyer it was locked. No big deal I thought since I was going to use it on Straight Talk's AT&T compatible sim and ST said phone DOES NOT need to be unlocked for features/service to work.
Well, right out of the box with an activated ST sim I started up the phone, never got to the "sim card unlock" screen as I thought I was going to get though I inserted a "foreign carrier" sim, but rather went straight to Home Screen. I made a call, sent a text . . . all good. However, internet and mms not working. I cannot connect to the internet at all. Phone doesn't even make an attempt, no error messages, just a plain "no internet connection" message the second I press anything that needs an internet connection.
Spoke to ST for hours trying different APN settings, nothing works! Used wi-fi to download app "tweakker", tried those APN settings as well, still no internet. ST has no other solutions for me. They are clueless. I once again asked, could it be because the phone is LOCKED? And once again they assured me it should not make a difference since they use AT&T towers. I tried using an app called APN Backup and restore, but I cannot use it on my phone though it is running ICS 4.0.4 and no "3rd party changes allowed" popps up.
My phone has the AT&T APN settings as default and are locked I can't delete or edit them. I CAN however create new APN's which I have multiple times, saved them, booted up and selected them. They are still there after a reboot but still the phone seems not to even recognize them being there.
I even tried a factory reset, thinking it may solve the problem but to no avail. :crying:
Today I contacted Motorola. After 2 hrs on the phone with them, still back to squar one. They had "NO IDEA" as to why I couldn't connect and why my phone couldn't accept the new APN's. So Straight Talk couldn't help me, Motorla said, "send us the phone and we can see if there is something wrong with it and you can have it back within 3-4 weeks(!!) or "learn to live" with the phone as is!"
So, after a lot of reading through online forums, searching for answers, I am left to wonder if my phone is acting the way it is because it is not an UNLOCKED PHONE. (Could the solution really be that simple???)
The people I have read who have an Atrix HD with other carriers besides AT&T seems to have no problem with their phones. However, it doesn't say if they bought unlocked versions or not.
I am now turning to this forum as my last cry for help. Can someone PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS FOR ME???
** Do I need to unlock this phone (I have no issues ordering an unlock code and getting a T-mobile sim to do this) in order for the internet to work?
** Is the phone not recognizing the APN's because the phone is technically locked? (Even though Straight Talk says their service should work on a locked phone).
** If I do get a T-mobile sim and try to unlock the phone, will I get the "sim unlock code" screen, because it sure isn't popping up when I insert my ST sim.
(What good is an unlock code if I can't get to the "unlock code" window?)
Any answers are appreciated.
Thanks!
My phone's info:

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply . . .
I will try to unlock it as soon as my T-mobile micro sim arrived. I am surprised that you didn't have to enter any APN settings for T-mobile though. Why is that? I thought that you always have to adjust the settings for the specifc network you are using. Did your internet work right away? Did you get the "sim unlock code" screen when you first popped in the T-mobile sim? Just curious so that I know what to expect when I get my own T-mobile sim.
I have really bad reception where I live and unfortunatelly it is only At&t's towers I get any bars with , thus I am stuck with either full price AT&T or Straight Talk since they use AT&T towers.
Thanks again. I appreciate your reply.

Wow . . so you are saying you just popped in your ST sim and you were up an running just like that? Why isn't that working for me???
Can I ask when you purchased yours? Was it before they came out with the OS upgrade? You are the first person that I came accross that have a locked phone like myself with ST service. But yours is working! So what the heck is wrong with my phone? At first I thought it was not working because the phone being LOCKED but now that I see yours was working fine I am starting to wonder if it is MY phone that has a problem. Or could it be a corrupt sim that is not connecting with the towers? When I asked ST that question they said if the sim wasn't working correctly I wouldn't be able to make calls either, so they stand by their card. hmm.... If you have those settings I appreciate it:
This is what I have tried so far:
The standard APN settings that come with the sim card:
Name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: http:mmsc.cingular.com (with // after http
MMSProxy: 66.209.11.33 (also tried mms2.tracfone.com)
MMS Port: 80
I also searched the internet for a tons of other options, leaving proxy blank, inserting "default, etc" under APN type . . . I tried A LOT and still nothing..
Using the app "Tweakker" I got these settings which I also tried with no luck:
They require two APNs
Internet:
Name : Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MMC: 410
APN Type: default,*
For MMS:
Name: Straight Talk MMS
APN: att.mvno
MMSC: http:mmsc.cingular.com (with // after http
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MMC: 410
APN Type: mms
So . . .if you have anything different . . .please share so that I can try your version.
Thanks for your help!

Hi ,
I will actually be using Straight Talk on this phone but in order to unlock it I ordered a T-mobile sim so that I can get to the "sim unlock code" screen since just inserting my ST sim doesn't bring up that screen. You DO NOT need to unlock the phone if you're using the Straight Talk AT&T SIM.
You just need the correct settings.

Thanks . . I gave it a try rebooted and still nothing! I left all othe fields blank as per your settings and my phone don't have the "APN roaming protocol: IPv4. Instead I have a grey/shaded out "APN enable/disable that is checked for enable" I can't control that option. It is just there.
Thanks for settings but I am still looking for something that will work on mine.

Hello,
I have a Samsung i896 Captivate, which was originally with Rogers. I purchased it from a cell store second hand and unlocked. I am with Virgin Mobile. I have spoken to them about my issue that the MMS will not download. They say they're down loading but then never finish and eventually expire. Even as I added the APN according to the instructions from VIrgin, nothing has changed. Still not down loading MMS. They say that because the phone was not originally with Virgin they can't do anything about it. Is there anything I can do to get my MMS downloading even with my unlocked phone??? Please help and thank you for reading.

When you entered your APN, did you delete all the others first?
Being unlocked doesn't change much other than you can use it on any carrier. Did you check with them to see if they locked your MMS?
Also, MMS can only be downloaded on data (can't use wifi).

Thank you for your reply BWolf56! So I haven't checked with Rogers to see if they lock their MMS as they are not my carrier. (they were the original phone owners carrier) If I call them do you think they'll assist me even if I am not thier client?
When I entered the APN there were no previous APN entered so none to delete.
I turned off the Wifi and then turned my phone on and off, just to see if that made a difference...I don't even know what to expect will happen if I do find a fix. Will my pending (NOT expired) MMS be able to be down loaded?
Would you have any other suggestions as to how to fix this problem? I really want to receive these messages before they expire and am getting kind of desperate. Thanks again.

Locked MMS would come from your current carrier so you would have to ask them.
Although, if you were on Wifi this entire time, it's normal it didn't work. As I mentioned earlier, you need to be on your data (3G/H) to download MMS. You should be able to redownload the pending ones, just hold over the MMS and hit redownload.

Out of curiosity, did you set two APN's? By the looks of it, there are two for Virgin - one for default and one for mms. I had the worst time doing a Rogers apn setup and eventually had to go to the default one and put default,text,mms,...etc for the type. Virgin might work the same. If you already have figured your problem out, then sorry for a late reply.

There should be 2 APNs indeed: Rogers' look like this:
Main APN:
Name: Roger #1
APN: internet.com
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Leave everything else as is.
MMS APN:
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
APN type: mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
Leave everything else as is.
There's also a LTE one and couple others but aren't needed on our phone.
So yeah, Virgin should have something similar to those. And of course, gotta be on data (3G)
Let's hope that's all it is, I couldn't help but notice that the reference was "APN" instead of "APN's". I'm just finishing work on a Captivate and happen to have a Virgin acct so I'll try it shortly and see
Oh my. I am so sorry, I didnt even get close to trying my virgin acct on the captivate I was working on. The customer was hovering to get it back, so sorry for misleading. How did you make out ElleJay? did you finally get your unit going?

i had a similar problem a few months back and sporadically since. i talked to rogers and was advised to go into apn type and edit it to say - internet, mms instead or default, supl, mms
try it and exit then go back in and make sure it stuck. for some reason it takes more than one try sometimes.
hope that helps
Remember, they bought with rogers as original, but are trying to setup virgin...but yeah, the overall consencus is that they may be missing an apn setting and "of course, gotta be on data (3g)" lol. Now just more concerned as to whether its up and running.
i been a straight talk customer for a long time. then eventually went to the 60 dollar go phone plan for LTE. not that LTE is vailable for straight talk i switched back to save a few pennies. anyone else on straight talk . there MMS sends but is never received by the other person. or sending one to yourself. sometimes it works sometimes it does. not. i never had this problem before. i tried old and new apn settins. it seems to work when it wants too is is a touch wiz bug . or is it straight talk
Pretty sure it's straight talk.

never had these issues before. ever. i wonder if a bad sim can do this.
calling all straight talk users. with new sim LTE.
i installed new sim card. as i posted earlier. data works perfect LTE works its just mms sometimes sends and sometimes does not. i noticed when i delete the apn and reinsert it. mms will work once or twice. i also noticed if i toggle between. the locked AT&T apn and the straight talk one it will work for a short while. do you think the locked AT&T apn is trying to take over newly inserted settings? i never had this issue on any phones i ever owned
does anyone know if unlocking the phone will unlock the locked apn?
I am also having the same issues with ST and my Sony ION. Last Friday was working with my apn settings and didnt notice how low my battery had gotten. I was trying various settings I saw posted. The best I could get was ability to send a pic but never the ability to recieve one. Worst yet in the whole process my battery had gotten very low and during a reboot it would not light up or even recieve a charge! To say the least I was very distressed. Tried the hard reboot PWR + VOL DOWN no luck. Just dead all the way. To sum up this story it was Tuesday at lunch when I tried to charge it once again and I got the red dot charge light going again. I was happy to see some action. And a while later I could turn it on once again. I suppose the battery had to die all the way to get itself unlocked. The Straight Talk kit I bought at Wal Mart had an extra full size sim and I used an old HTC phone to get by after transfering to that sim card with ST over the phone. Now I need another micro sim for my ION as they are one time use only. Tonight I pulled out my adapter/micro sim out of the ION and inserted the full size sim and it worked! Seems that it may be hard to get it back out one day but who cares its working right now. When I find vpn settings that work good for this reigon of the US (Florida) I will post them here too. Maybe some of this info can be of use to someone else going through the same hassles as me. Thanks for reading!
After using straight talk for 7 months I gave my Sony ION to my brother and I got the HTC One M7 for a buck and added to my girlfriends family plan account.
The bottom line with straight talk bring your own phone and toss in the sim is after trying all the different APNs I never got a single one to work here in South Florida, USA So I am convinced that AT&T sells sub-standard service to Straight Talk and you get what you pay for. I told my brother to get the sim unlock code and try T Mobiles network as the ION is on their list for accepted devices.
I will get the last APN settings and post them here. I found some settings that improved my data speeds and used high priority. Another thing is when you change your APN setting with a good working one you will always get good service for a while until their servers start messing with your service. So if you notice your service sucks. Switch back and then forth again between 2 different sets of APN settings. This will throw ATT off for a while. Good luck!

Has anyone in the US bought this phone? AT&T can't activate because they don't have the right (size I guess) SIM for this phone thus couldn't activate.

That's BS. I slapped my nano SIM into my US XZ1C with no problems. The phone then asked to search online for the APN information. It downloaded it all with zero effort on my part and everything worked 100%. I've had this SIM card since at least the Z3 time. Go to another store, have them replace whatever SIM you have now with a nano SIM, go home and install it on your phone. Don't give them any explanation for anything. You need to replace your SIM with a nano SIM and that's it. You'll get signal automatically, but not data. Just Google AT&T APN settings and enter them if your phone doesn't offer to download them during the initial setup. I get LTE all over town, although it shows the 4G icon instead. I can send/receive SMS, MMS, and calls normally.

Ok I'll do that. I'm moving from vzn to att and was trying to set up account over the phone. The rep first told me it was a 2G only phone and they don't support that. Then after I told him that his own website said the IMEI number was supported he came back with the SIM statement. I even said "it's just a nano SIM" what's special... Anyway useless to argue after some point. I'll just go to the store tomorrow.

have you looked at the APNs? this is most likely the issue.
this phone technically supports all ATT LTE bands.
you may also have to set your "Preferred Network type" to LTE preferred
I am still using my old AT&T SIM from years ago when it was originally a Micro SIM. Just carefully cut the SIM down to the appropriate size and it works fine. I have the UK version and have no issues so far.
As for the H+ only, it may be due to the IMEI not being recognized on the network carrier. I haven't experienced this issue, but from what I've read online, you can ask the AT&T rep to register your SIM using a phone's IMEI that is registered with AT&T. Not sure how that works, but it's what I've read on other forums from people with the same issue.
I've used APN settings on web and confirmed the SIM is compatible but still not getting LATE speed. Open signal testing in various locations at best are 5-6Mbps.

I believe I read somewhere that there is one band that is unavailable on the XZ1C in the United States. Could that perhaps be the band that covers the area or region that I am currently in?
I'm in college station, tx 77845
I'm really not sure what I'm looking for but found this site.
Texas, Brazos country

the only band i know of that has been in question is band 12. i think most ATT LTE takes place on band 17, which runs on almost the same frequency as band 12. this is likely not your issue, but i can dig a bit deeper. this mostly affects people using Tmobile, like myself.
i'm guessing you have one of the international variants?
that last link you sent was a dead end for me (your entries on that site did not carry over with the URL). what was it you saw on that site that was of potential value? you can send me a screenshot if you want

How would I tell? I double checked my order and confirmed it's "supposed" to be a US version and I don't have a fingerprint security option.
I doubt the resolution will be good enough to read, if not follow that link and apply filter Texas and Brazos country. It is a list of frequencies in my region. I don't know if it's of any real value or not just searching.
I really appreciate your help!
One last thing... My phone hasn't downloaded any at&t bloatware. Not even the myATT app. I don't know if that adds any clues

I can send/receive SMS, MMS, and calls normally.

sorry to bother, would you mind sharing the APN settings you have?
also, any other network settings that might affect connectivity? our friend in texas needs some help getting his LTE going.
ALSO... my XZ1C shows LTE when connected to it. are you positive you are operating on LTE? is there a chance you are connected to it but not using it? network speeds?
thanks in advance!
Just left AT&T again and no better.
There are two APN settings that are on my phone. (1.) ATT Nextgenphone
(2.) ATT HSPA+ ***this was renamed from simply ATT by the guy messing with my phone. Originally it was just ATT***
APN Settings
1. These APN settings result in no data connection what-so-ever
Name: ATT Nextgenphone
APN: nexgenphone
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMSPort: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: default,admin,mms,supl,hipri,internet
APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: none
2. This gets data (H) but at about 4 Gbps. Sometimes it bumps up to (H+) but never long enough to test speed.
Name: ATT HSPA+
APN: phone
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: not set
Password: not set
Server: not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net

APN Type: default,supl,mms,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4

Somewhere on the AT&T website there was detail referencing the 9th and 10th digit of the SIM being certain numbers. Whatever it was my SIM is compatible.
Looking for the specific langauge I happened back to this site and now I'm worried I've got no hope. Here is the link but I've attached a screenshot of the concerning statement.

Can anyone give an opinion on any of this? Thanks for all your help. I hope it prevents someone else from having the same problem.
