Ill take this with a microSD card any time.

Yes, also try to not adb to your device too often and do not charge in the car. Same goes for the headset jack, it is best to stick a "Pluggy" in it and leave it alone.
Other than that, this is much more compact than my otg cable and drive. I will be ordering one, thanks for pointing it out.
This will make life easier for business travel! Thank you for sharing!

The finish is in fact a little mediocre(paint) and the mold seems to be just a tad crooked and the cap is a ***** to get back on.But over all it does what it said it would do... Can't get my Kingsington 64GB micro SD to work but I remember having issues with it in my Note 2 before I sold it as well so it may be damaged..If you get a 64GB card to work please give me a heads up.
EDIT: Nevermind,got 64GB working!
You do need to keep an eye on your USB port. A few people have actually wrecked theirs from normal use. Mine is getting looser by the week, with more and more play in it.
I would recommend using this sparingly.

We get it.But its a damn port and i'm going to plug things into it when need be..Its wants to be plugged :victory: ..If ya know how to plug things in normal and not like a manic beast I think we will be ok.In all honesty this thing plugs in way smoother than any of my charging cables.
I'm waiting in mine. Well be good for when I'm done foreclosing a few movies. Time to check the mail.

No, this is the one that was released at launch, this is the one that also causes the non-responsive screen issues on the Incredible.
I'm a bit peeved Incredible isn't getting any fancy docks like the Moto Droid got, and Seidio cancelled there desk/car/innotraveler docks.
why aren't they more readily available?

That i couldn't say because i have no idea
i just know that Verizon has done a poor job at marketing/supporting this phone. not only did they botch the launch there not even trying to get accessory support nor are they marketing it as much as they are Moto Droid
They r said to vamp up the marketing once the phone is back n stock. I have a friend who is a regional manager at vzw and he says as soon as they start shipping again the are going to have a huge push for this phone. He already has new window posters and a stock pile of t shirts for when try start shipping again. No point in advertising something that u don't have to sell n the first place right?

I have this dock and its great! Like that it has the belt clip detachment. Yes you do have to take your case off to use it though but that takes all of 5 seconds. I havent experienced the grounding issues in this dock at all, think that was with those cheap universal styrofoam ones.
My wife has a Captivate and as I hold it side by side with my Focus it looks like head phone and micro usb ports are in the exact same position. So this makes me wonder if this dock will work on the Focus??
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECR-D981BEGSTA
This looks like it would. I found it for around 20 bucks online, maybe it is worth the try.
I'm not sure I would want mine in landscape mode, just because of all those incompatible screen layouts.
yes
By works if you mean does it charge your phone then the answer is yes. I dont think it does anything else. I haven't tried anything else though. Will check when I get home and report back.
Yeah I am wondering if it lines up and charges the phone.
Also, does this dock have the ability to connect to your PC via USB or is it hardwired with an AC adapter?
according to samsung, it is not *guaranteed* to work, and, to answer your question, it looks like there is a microusb slot on the back of it so you probably can connect it to the pc
I saw in the picture on Samsung's website that it looks like it has a micro usb slot, but in the Amazon review people were complaining that you could not connect it to a PC. Now that could be because they did not realize that they could use a micro usb cable instead of an AC adapter but i was not sure.
I guess for $30 it is not that big of a deal if it does not work for me they way I hope.
Thanks
Has anyone tried it yet?
It looks like the Captivate/Vibrant **** has the microUSB port in the right place, but not the Epic.
USB is USB, so as long as the physical location is correct, I can think of no reaso it wouldn't work.
Has anyone actually tried the Vibrant or Captivate dock yet to see if it fits

I thought I got lucky and got a N7 without any problems but it looks like my micro USB port is defective! The plug only works if I lightly push it down, the contacts inside aren't connecting properly. I've attached a picture showing how I had to rig it to get it to charge.
Interesting. Mine has been on charge for 5 hours and it still won't switch on or give any charging notifications. I've already requested a refund from google, but if this works I'll at least be able to spend the £15 play credit on books!
when come out of the package, there is a clear tape/wrap around the plug, did you remove that? I didn't bother to remove mine and I find the usb plug to be pretty tight.. tighter than all other devices I've owned..
Odd, if anything my USB port/cable are tighter than any other device I own.

You're keeping it, in this state? RMA is your friend
This sucks! I need to be able to use this device daily for work. It's replaced an older one I've gotten rid of. Will Google send a new one first?
try replace a cable first?? Use one from your phone and see how's the fitment first. Could be just the cable.
I have noticed that the one that shipped works fine, but I have another one with a longer cord (so it can sit on my desk and charge it's a long way to the floor) and that one slips out unless it's sitting on the desk I can't use it or the plug will fall out.
Mine seems to be the tightest fit of any device yet but I have left the plastic on the tip.
If you have to rig it like that it more then likely has a bad solder joint meaning it the charging port needs to be re-soldered back down to the phone, or the port may need to be replaced because one or more of the legs has broken off of the back of the port, or one or more of the pins inside the front of the port is bent out of place.

My USB port has become loose after a week of general use and charging. Going to contact Google for repair / replacement I think. Not the first device I have had this problem on - although I doubt like my Alienware they will send an engineer out to fix it on site (now that is service).
Ive got this problem now too. GOing to return it tonight and hopefully get a new one.
Had to return mine also
I had to return my micro USB plug also ,,, but Nexus sent another
in about a week ... called them for info on how ,,, and they
sent info to email ..
I understand completely, I wish someone would tell me a simpler method than resoldering the port. I'm nowhere inclined to do this myself being as I have no clue how to even begin how to solder anything. I have to use 2 rubber bands, an 8 inch strip of clear duct tape, a bottle of hair gel to add weight, and my microwave to hold it all in place.. =| HELP??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am having some very frustrating problems with my 8GB Nexus7, mainly in that the USB-OTG using stick mount (rooted etc.) just will NOT pick up any drives! I have had a flicker of hope with one but it mounts and dismounts immediately and only after a clean wipe/re-flash. I have tried three different cables and 4 thumb drives to NO avail!
If someone else has experienced this or has an idea how to identify/solve the problem I would be most appreciative.

1. Are the drives formatted as FAT32?
2. Are you sure that the cables you are using are USB-OTG and not a standard micro to standard USB cable?
3. If you have OTA Rootkeeper installed, did you re-root is temp unrooted?
4. Mount and umount can occur if not enough power is going to power the device (see #2).

2. Well I purchased them from amazon advertised as USB-OTG cables. One of them works with my other device (SGS3). The other did when it came in the post yesterday but now it won't...

I had to install StickMount (from google play) to get mine to work. It needs root access.
After ordering two of the non cable OTG connectors I found that I wasn't getting any joy, until I modified the moulding at the Micro end.
Reading this thread made me realise that my Micro USB connector was bottoming on the bezel, so , got the old Stanley knife out and cut the moulding away so it had a forty five degree angle on it, and it connected. The angle doesn't really make much difference, but just make sure that the moulding does not bottom on the bezel, which effectively shortens the reach. It worked for me, so might be worth trying provided you haven't paid big bucks out.
Big THANKS to BADGERED for giving me the idea.
Love my N7, so much more useful than the Ipad I had.

for $3 plus change shipped, I would recommend right angle connector over straight one since it doesn't protrude too much outside of the case, and just looks cleaner with a phone without anything sticking out; also helps so you don't knock it out. With Sandisk Cruzer you can't even see usb drive, just a little flashing led dot.
I wonder if there is any flash drive will directly mount on micro-USB port.

Not *exactly* but its pretty close, its basically just an otg adapter with a normal drive. One of the benefits of having a dedicated microusb drive would be the size, it woild be able to be smaller that the 'normal' usb drives, much thinner.

I already use a otg adapter. Just for transfering files to a flash drive. I was just wondering if there was a microusb drive I could plug directly into the phone, negating the need for an adapter. Not looking to connect multiple items or hdmi or whatever and connecting an external power supply is just inconvenient, unless I understood it wrong? What benefits do a 11 pin off other than faster connection on multiple items?

Thanks. Keep a micro sd card in it and that's what the OP wanted. I do like the right angle design of the kickstarter a bit better, but the one you linked is available now and cheaper.

YEs thats pretty much what I was after, was just looking to see if there was a dedicated product that would take better care if the space and manage to make a smaller unit. Im gonne give that one a go, £3.77 free delivery plus a sd card, I have a spare 8gb to try it with

Thinking about giving it a go too. If I switch my camera to a microSD card, it will make swapping pictures much easier.
