So my Mic stopped working on my One. I called up sprint customer service they told me to go to my nearest sprint store to have it fixed by a technition or approved for a replacement. Well the store had no technition on site, and didn't know when they would have one availible. Frustrated now I called sprint back and was pretty much told too bad. I was pretty pissed at this point, coming from Verizon I never encountered service like this. After two days of bugging these people I finally got a "manager" to approve a replacement. I was told to pay $50 online while I was on the phone and did so. The woman said I would have a email with my tracking info ect. in it. The email never came so I called back this morning, they told me they were sorry they couldn't send it out. I'd have to go to a store and get it checked out by a technician. So I'm back where I started and disgusted with Sprint at this point. I am waiting for someone to call me back to deal with the situation. If someone could give me some pointers with dealing with these idiots I would appreciate it.

Well that actually sucks. I've always had amazing customer service at sprint. When my one had camera issues I went and they ordered me a new one.

Ask for retentions on the phone and explain your problem.

Other problems aside, when searching their stores on their website, they actually list the service if they have technician or not, so you can save your trip not going to a store without tech.

If that is the case then you should call care back and file a formal complaint about that. They are required to have a tech for all service hours posted online and instore. You can most likely get a small service credit as well.

Although the employees tend to be clueless around here they get the job done. That's a really bad situation you are in and I hope the best for you.
Corporate stores are like that. I hear complaints about this on a daily basis (sorry to any corporate store employees here). I hear the worst story and feel bad that these stores are what's representing this company. But trust me there are better stores out there. Some third party (preferred) locations have some of the highest customer satisfaction rates of all 4 carriers. The website does not list some of these locations. Their entire team are certified techs by sprint. Doesn't matter what time you go in. Sure a lot of the "techs" including some in the company I work for are idiots. We can't all be like me but seriously your situation should not be as difficult as sprint is making it for you. You have to be very specific with most customer care reps. Most of them are trained robots. They read a script and completely ignore what you are trying to tell them. They have selective hearing. That goes for all customer care experiences. All carriers. Cable companies, ect. Retention is usually the best department to speak to. They have more of a personality and are there to keep you from canceling and such. Also the only department you should ever talk to about earliy upgrades. That's another thing, if you ever need an upgrade never just call sprint and ask. Call sprint and ask to be immediately transferred to retentions. Again back to being trained robots, they will only see your current upgrade and telling you "I'm sorry you are not upgrade eligible till **/****" then act stupid if you ask them to do it early lol
Sorry.. that was also my mini rant about sprint lol

This is the atmosphere that I encounter @ our Sprint Corporate Store too. Problem is that it's the only approved repair store in my town..
I think what it amounts to is most generally the store front salespeople know very little about the phones. Therefore feel threatened or something when someone knows more than them... The key strategy that has helped me was to find a salesperson that will let me talk to a technician, instead of dealing with a store front salesperson that don't know DISH about this phone..
Shouldn't have to be, but it seems to be a trending effect in a types of electronic retail...
SPRINT SHOULD TAKE AN EVALUATION OF THEIR CORPORATE STORE SALES PERSONNEL GIVING THEM A TEST ON THEIR PRODUCTS...

I've seen people post that the newer model Captivates have working GPS. I was wondering if I contacted At&t about this, would they swap my phone to a newer model Captivate. I have the release date 1006 model and on stock 2.1 my GPS never worked.
Also, those who have successfully swapped their phones please tell me what you did. Thanks!
Considering that At&t has the worst customer service out of every company, I would assume that unless you want to pay off your early contract termination fee than no unfortunately.
I had a problem that my data connection was dropping all the time. I called att, stressed the fact that I don't have a home phone, so my cell phone is my only phone. My new captivate was overnighted to my home. Ironically the new phone had the same issue, turned out to be a bad SIM card.
With GPS being something of a "known issue" I don't know if they will swap for GPS issues.
Fact of the matter is att has never let me down customer service wise. That isn't to say I've never had issues, but I've never had an issue not be resolved to my satisfaction.

I, too, have experienced good customer service from AT&T. It isn't the best, but it certainly wasn't bad. The worst part was the long wait times to talk to a human.

What the hell is this???
Ok, I just got off the phone with AT&T "Android" tech support... I restored my phone to stock and the lady had me do a factory reset. Then she had me download the Samsung GPS Restore app. It failed to lock, we tried some other things but indeed my GPS would not lock. She then deactivates my phone from the network and activates it again, but no lock. She talks to her superiors and they say it's not a phone issue? therefore the phone is not replaceable. I ask to speak to a manager or something and she transfers me to Warranty Resolutions. He takes all the info and says take the phone to a repair center and if they reproduce the issue they'll replace your phone. I'm like ok cool!
I download AT&T navi and try the 30 day trial just for the heck of it and low and behold the friggin' GPS LOCKS! So i truck on over to Google Maps and it friggin' locks as well! Within' 50 meters mind you but a lock without "use wireless networks" checked. I have NEVER gotten a lock on stock before today. Honestly I just wanted a newer model Captivate because my old v1006 model has issues with non captivate modems and I wanted to try those sweet 2.2.1 roms. I may not go to the repair center now b/c i don't want to walk in there and they're like what are you talking about it's locking fine!
Funny thing is the warranty guy said he's never heard of that issue before on a captivate, nor has anyone in that office. Maybe this problem did only affect a very small portion of these devices. Or everyone with the problem bought a new phone with in the 30 day trial.

I've spent years on the other end of the customer service line. For an evil credit card company. Ever since, when I call customer service I'm nice, friendly, and calm. Even when att screwed up my bill and charged me $400 in overages. I calmly explained what happened, that my rate plan was applied incorrectly (someone applied a plan with no mobile to mobile or night and weekend minutes), 10 minutes on the phone and it was taken care of. The charges refunded. The people that get the most help are the rational, calm, honest people. When I worked customer service I adjusted more fees for people that said they forgot to pay their bill than people that screamed and yelled that it was our fault it the post office.

So, I ordered my Nexus 4 like many others did the day they became available again recently and coudn't wait for it to get here. Immediately, out of the box, I was in love with the sleek design of my new handset. The next day, my new phone was the focus of many others attention and I almost felt like a spokesman for the phone, pitching it to everyone who raised a question about it. I was in complete ire.
Unfortunately, 18 hours after having the device and having above a 50% charge, my Nexus 4 powered itself off and became a brick. I panicked immediately and called the phone number given on the site and in the attached documentation. I had to call several times and was disconnected repeatedly. I spokke to attendants a couple times and they told me that if I got disconnected again, they could not call me back. Eventually, an hour later or so, I was able to talk to someone in support who had me try a few things to get the phone into recovery. None of this worked. This is when things went from bad to worse.
I was told that I would be transferred over to product return/replacement and of course was disconnected again. I tried again....and again.
I now made it through to product replacement was told that they would email me out the shipping label to return the phone back and that they would have to charge my account for the replacement in the meantime!!! So, Google basically wants me to fork out TWICE the money, so that I can wait to have them ship out another one and they won't refund my account until they inspect the original.
I'm not sure about how many of you can afford this, but I can't. I had saved for this phone and I had already arranged to sell my old phone. Basically, I'm screwed....So, I at least ask how long it will take to ship the replacement. I'm told 2-3 weeks, even if I'm a replacement!
I spoke to another supervisor to verify this, and that was their policy. I opted for a return over a refund and am sure that I will never purchase anything from Google again.
I would not to if that happened to me, if you stay in the android camp I dont know many companies that give good customer support its a major down fall. I think this is why some people are buying from retail stores so they can just get it replaced.
Its a shame the nexus 4 is the best android phone out right now in terms of design and speed. I can't believe they treated you like that can you complain to some consumer watch dog? Maybe get a free phone out of it lol

I had issues with the charger port on my phone last week. I called Google and didn't have any problems talking to someone in replacements.
I called last Saturday, the phone shipped Tuesday and I had the replacement Thursday. They did do an authorization on my credit card to insure I did have the funds available, in case they find the damage to be my fault but the authorization has already disappeared.
Overall it wasn't a bad experience

If you used a credit card with the play store then they don't charge you for the replacement, it's only a hold on the funds which just means you have less available credit but no charge. I this this is a good compromise for both the customers and Google.

I agree, it was my loss. However, I'm no "noob" and am quite familiar with mobile technology. This was simply a case of a defective handset. I wish I had an experience with like some of you other responders have shared, however that was not the case for me. Yes, I will suffer some for not having a Nexus 4, but Google will suffer more with the loss of my business and the amount of times I will share my story.

Yes Google will suffer more. Love the self-contradicting sentences.
1. You said it's simply a case of defective handset. Who ever judges a company by a case of defective handset? By that standard, you can buy nothing because every company ships defective unit, and that's why we have warranty/replacement policy.
2. If it's simply a case of defective handset, I'm sure all the "other people" whom you are going to tell your story to, will believe in you completely and avoid Google in the future.
3. If you are quite familiar with mobile technology, you'll know all manufacturers have defective unit, and if you are following Nexus 4 news, you KNOW how Google's advance-replacement works (charge your card and refund once received your defective unit), and how bad Nexus 4 back-order is/was.
4. If you are quite familiar with mobile technology, I'm surprised you never registered an account here at XDA. Is Nexus 4 your first smartphone? First Android? If that's the case, don't say you are quite familiar with mobile technology.
Thank you for this informative post. I'm sure we will all mourn Google's loss.

I think providing that information would also help the community out, as it would give us a heads up on the potential risk(s) involved with a particular build. Also, I feel sad for your loss, I do not appreciate it when people aren't very supportive of their fellow Android users, I hope things work out well man.

What a **** move.
So, you purchased a unit and it turned out to be defective. They agreed to let you exchange it, but they needed to take a hold of $400 in your account in the meantime, so you won't do it?
So, instead of just complying, you're going to spread a bogus story that just shows your own ignorance whilst trying to make Google look like a bad business? Despicable. Absolutely despicable.
It is an advanced RMA, it's the best possible way to do an RMA IMO since there is no "turnaround" time however did you ask them if you could send your phone in first and once they receive it you can get a new one sent out? It'll take even longer but that is the way most companies do things...unfortunately.

Hardware can fail and it is more likely for it to happen in the first 24hrs than it is a year down the road, it sucks but this is far more believable to me than the "spontaneous back shattering" that some on this site are claiming.
Ok so about 3 weeks ago my son busted my fiances s4 screen. There was a big hoot and hollar about why do we let our son play with our expensive phone in that thread lol. So anyway assurion did not have the phone in stock so i sold her broken one on ebay and bought her another from the sprint store. I called assurion and canceled the claim and even recieved a comformation.
Well fiance gos out to bring my dog in the house and she sees a package from fedex on the hood of her car. She opens it and its a brand new galaxy s4. She calls me and tells me. So i say no big deal ill mail this back to assurion. Well i call them and tell them what happened. They get all my info and cant find anything in there system saying they shipped me a phone. They show a canceled claim thats it. I give her the fedex number showing it came from there address but she refuses to check it. She ask am i sure i didnt order one off the internet and i tell her id be pretty sure if i just bought a $600 phone.
So i then turn my attention to fedex. I call them and say hey you left a package with a $650 phone in it on the hood of my car in my driveway about 100ft away from my house. They call the driver and he says he didnt wana come to my house bc my dog was on a runner. So i give them some crap about leaving it there and that was that.
So now i have a phone sitting in my house that assurion has no information on. It required a signature but was never signed for. Has anyone ever had an experience like this?

If it showed up, you do not have to pay for it. You might want to do research, but I HAD HEARD SECOND HAND that back in the 70s, companies used to ship stuff to people, then ask them to pay for it if they didn't return it (think CD "clubs").
I learned this after I had a 2nd poweramp shipped to me . . . and I finally reluctantly returned it . . . THEN learned about the rule/law about not having to send stuff back. RESEARCH IT

My advice, since you've already taken the 'correct' steps to resolve this issue, is to keep the phone, still sealed up in the Fed-Ex box. Wait a billing cycle (or two) to see if any charges show up, or if Assurion contacts you again about the damaged device, and then take the appropriate action. If, after a few months, nothing further has been done/attempted by Sprint/Assurion, then I'd consider myself the owner of a new S4.

I think she was giving you a hint, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. And if the $150 does show up on your bill, you've got a $650 phone for $150.
had a similar incident back on tmo with the g2, it is currently sitting on my desk
also as teh father of a 2 year old, i happily let her play with phones (not my sgs4 though, she gets mommy's sgs3 ). there is so many learning apps and she is already so quick to learn how to navigate teh device. i wouldnt take that away from her for the world. screw everyone else and you raise your kids how you see fit
I've had this happen to me as well. Cancelled a claim on my Evo 3d, still received it with no record of it being sent. Gave it to my girl and was never charged

I'd research the laws, keep it in the box for a week of case they call, then I'd own it, root it then I'd call FedEx, and ask why the hell they left it on my car. And tell them you don't appreciate that very much.

Totally agree. My 5 year old has been playing on all my phones from the s3 to the note 2. Alot of cool apps for kids on the play store.

To those of you saying to just keep the phone.....correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't a replacement come pre-activated, meaning that it can only be used on the phone number that it was meant to be a replacement for? If so, it's still of no use unless to be sold as a bad ESN to be activated on another carrier such as Boost or similar.

I'm moving from a iPhone to a HTC One and I would like to know if their customer service has changed since 2010 (Heard very bad stuff about them back then). Are they good or is it still the same as 2010. I would like to get a rating from anyone here.

Its really comparable to apple care?
I haven't dealt with them (I sent my faulty phone back to my operator) but I have heard LOTS of bad things about them over here in Europe (England specifically).
Some people have sent their phone off 5-6 times, some have had to wait a month to get their phone back.
I think their customer service may be better/worse in different parts of the world.
They're no worse than the likes of Samsung but NO phone warranty is comparable to Apple Care. Coming from a 4s I was amazed at their service.
In saying that, I was very happy with how my operator dealt with the problem (Three).

This is what i'm talking about. That is whats stopping me from choosing the HTC one, But I want the build quality of the HTC one. I need more people to help me with this...
I dealt with them in July for a screen rpair(replacement) due to damage.
When we called, got right through to a person. Sent phone off and had it back in less than a week. There was a slight issue with the sim tray, but swapped it out at AT&T and all was good.
Also I've beenwaiting on my Google Play code from them, but once I emailed them I got responses back real quick on that. Still waiting on the code, but they said it would be a few weeks.

In terms of repair and actually talking with them on the phone - yes
In terms of obtaining a promotional item(ie $25 google play credit) not so much lol.
The main thing is if I had to choose all over again between the iPhone, S4 or the HTC One I would still choose the One.
Wife made the jump from iPhone 4S to One and has been much happier than with her iPhone.
As above, I love my One and wouldn't go back to iPhone unless they really really pulled something out of the bag. However, you will not get better than Apple support.
If all you care about is support (which is important to some people), then no other manufacturer will offer anything close to what Apple offer.
Me personally, even though Apple support is great I wanted the best phone for me and that was the HTC One.

iOS has just gotten to boring. I want the build quality of a iPhone and android. HTC would be the phone to go for me. Anyone else dealt with HTC before?
TBH there is nothing on the market comparable to Apple Care. I know of friends who have broken a device and walked into and out of a corporate store in 20minutes with a brand new phone, not a refurb. This goes from iPhones to iMacs.
That being said is it 'really' that important to you? If so then don't leave the apple hedge maze

Agree with what others are saying after coming from iPhone as they are boring the HTC One is a great phone but had a problem with it after 2weeks received it back after 9days and phone was damaged with chips taken out of phone and barely literally barely packaged.
So now have to go through the painful process of getting this sorted. It's a great phone but no other company would come close to apple care I've had phones changed there and then. I'm from UK by the way.
I'm pretty sure my One has blown the top speaker (again). This happened to a previous phone I had and I got it replaced, within the last few months even. Has anyone else had multiple One's blow speakers? Is this a common defect or am I just that unlucky?
I don't even use the speakers very often, so it's not like I've overused them or cranked the music/voice up on it to manage to blow them.
Happened to me twice. Sounds real crackling. Best buy replaced mine without hesitation

Sprint replaced mine once before, and should do so again, I was just curious if it's a common problem with these phones.

I have had mine for a while and have maxed out the volume for a time while listening to music and no issues yet. Not sure if certain types of music or audio boosts on certain tracks may change this. For example, I found a copy of a Lil Wayne cd that I can play on low volume and I can hear the bass boost in the track itself. I can hear the distortion from the low frequency. Fortunately I am not a Lil Wayne fan and will never have need to play it through my phones speakers.
Maybe you came across a track boosted as such and this contributed to the blown speakers? Just a thought .

It's certainly possible, but I so rarely even use the speakers that I doubt it. Usually it's lullabies playing if anything (this thing is great for that when you've got a baby). I didn't notice it until I put my dad on speakerphone Monday morning
I've had 3 different HTC ones get crackly speakers...from what I've read I'm probably in the "work in dusty/metal dust environment" group. Took about 1-2 months from new status to have issue each time...

Ah, maybe that's it. I do work in a machine shop at times during the day and have been known to go home with aluminum shavings in my pockets (ouch). The rest of the environment at work is essentially a clean room, so it's not coming from there.
If the dang phone wasn't such a pain to disassemble we would be painting them at work and I could have just gotten it fixed by one of our techs.
Hasn't happened to mine, regularly (daily) use the phone on 50-100% volume to listen to stuff in the shower while leaving the phone on the sink. I agree with the theory of it probably being some specific type of audio file type (boosted track?) messing with the speakers
They're getting another replacement, but said if I have to get a third phone they'll charge me $25. They never did that when I went through 7 different Evo Shift 4G's!

Yea it sux....it's part of the revised equipment service and repair program...used to be $4/month for me and kept getting replacements no problem whenever I had a problem.... Now they are raising the price on ESRP plans to $5/month and limit to 2-3 replacements per year and then $25 per device...imho it is BS because if device isn't working we the users/subscribers shouldn't be penalized for defective devices...another way to save on losses by Sprint and push towards dealing with manufacturer...which isn't too bad if it's a simple fix and otherwise phone is fine and you have a backup device for duration of repair.

TEP, as far as I know. Like $11/mo I think. It's also an advantage club line, or whatever they're calling employee hosted plans these days
I have had 3 replacments for the blown speaker issue. phone still under warranty so replaced free. now my 4th HTC ONE has the same issue again & the sprint store i previously went to said i have to go to a corporate location cause it an isolated issue so they couldnt do anything. i have yet to go. i think i will go today
My camera decided to stop working (no physical damage). I bought this phone in May 2013 with the $11/month insurance plan. What's the process of replacing it and how much does it cost?

I'm on my 3rd ONE in a few months. Local sprint store (not-corporate) has been extremely cool with getting me replacements. They had to order the first one, but the next one (yesterday) they had a re-furb in stock that they gave to me right on the spot. Barely any questions asked.

The quickest way to find out is just walk in and ask a worker or go to sprints website and do a search for locations...the non corporate ones will be named like "sprint by wireless company x"....there's corporate, premier sprint (non corporate but only sprint sales), and then the tier 2/3 multi carrier locations that have multiple brands in one location...

So non corporates can give me a refurb if they have it in stock? A month ago I walked into a corporate store and asked to file an insurance claim for another device and they just had me call assurion and talk to them myself.

Non corporates might happen to stock various phones for exchanges, not all...they have different procedures than corporate...at a non corporate store i worked at we had one or two of the common ones in stock for your situation and when you came in we did the exchange through your account and got your device for our stock and we handed you one we had....Hope that makes sense...saves hassle of waiting for the customer to get a device 3 days later...
