Manufacturer defect - Sprint HTC One (M7)

So my phones been acting up the touch screen becomes none responsive, can't type on the browser sometimes. Type one letter than 2 letters show up. Things will randomly start opening. Is that a manufacturer defect? No cracks on screen, some minor bruises
Could I call retention:?

Did you drop it recently? It might loosen the connectors inside if you did, then you need to go to a corp store with tech and get it fixed.

Newton Rings on LG Optimus Black Touchscreen

Hi,
I notice that when I touch the screen I see strange colors- like rainbow bubbles under the screen.
Is it normal or not? if you touch your screen, do you also see like rainbow distortions on it - like oil spots? (newton rings)
Do you suggest me to ignore it or take it to LG and ask them to replace/fix it?(my phone is 7 months old)
that is a normal thing, but you shouldn't be pressing like that the screen :/
it's Liquid Cristal Display = LCD so it is normal to see those colors when screen is pressed, but stop pushing it XD you can damage the screen

Lol, thanks for the information, I thought this way but wasn't sure.
but what if I also see those strange colors even when I press not very strong on the screen but normal+ ? Should I take my phone to repair? (it's free for me, lol)
I think so, it might be a defective LCD, and if its free you should do it... I mean it's somehow normal [because of the liquid cristal] but if that happens whit normal pressure then is not that normal...
Maybe the gorilla glass (the one you touch, not the LCD) is softer/looser than normal and not rigid enough... I noticed a softer/thinner Gorilla Glass on the Black than other devices.. Quite annoying sometimes, it makes the device feel fragile or cheap XD

Did someone also notice that when applying little pressure to the screen, like an oil spot appears and in some spots the screen feels flexible when touching it a bit stronger?
It looks like this: (It happens only when I touch the screen a bit stronger than normal)

Mm it does happen but not that large and when it happens it gets back to normal quite instantly.. Could be a counterfeit OB lol... I always knew that the Gorilla Glass was not normal on OBs.. you should go to an LG service or somwthing like this to get it checked.. It shouldn't be like that, at least wheb applying a small pressure

Ok, thanks for replying, now I know that my OB is not the only one with this defect.
I already sent my OB to repair when it had other problems in the screen and they didn't replace it with a new OB
now I'm going to send it again to my Cell provider and I'll ask them to replace my defective OB under LG's manufacturer Warranty.
Any ideas how to convince them to replace my defective OB with a new one and not only replace the digitizer or lcd screen?

Hi,
I found the specific name of this phenomenon: newton rings
there are many threads in XDA about this phenomenon but no one about OB.
It appears only when I touch the screen, (maybe it's because I always keep my phone in the pocket.)
It looks like that:
Is my LG Optimus Black defective or it's normal?

It's important to me to know if my device is defective or is it a normal phenomenon with OB?

This is only what I think, but to be honest I feel that's not normal, I mean even if I press really hard my phone's screen it doesn't look like that not even close to that, I think you should send it to techs

[NEW POSSIBLE ISSUE] Screen Flex

DO NOT complicate this with the screen separation issue, my device does not have this issue.
When on a black screen when pressing the devices screen, it does not have to be hard just medium, the screen will flex causing the display below to ripple. It reminds me of the HTC One X screen flex issue at the top ends of the device where it was curved.
I have made a video showing my findings, I know at times it looks like I'm pressing extremely hard on the screen, I'm not its just because I was on a soft surface and so the device pushed into the bed.
Oh and your probably better watching it in full screen, just watched it embedded on here myself and it's hard to see
It's a TOUCH screen not a PRESS screen. Be gentle... you meanie!
I saw what you meant once in that video, but it did look like you pressed pretty hard. I tried to replicate it to no avail. Sorry.

I know I know, honestly though I promise you I was not pressing hard. Honest truth I noticed this issue because I held the device with one hand, and I was NOT pushing hard.
I've noticed this minor issue on mine, but on the left hand side of the screen. Doesn't bother me too much.
It probably happens because your device has the screen lift too? or the screws are loose.
As before I did the washer trick my screen also did this on the left side only, it was spongy too, once I did the washer trick it didn't do it again. :good:

Yeah I don't really see it as an issue, as long as my device works that's all I'm bothered about and I mainly use my iPad anyway.

Hmm, well the screen doesn't appear to be raised ANYWHERE and I only just got it yesterday (14th August).
My second/current one does this. But only on the left side. If you press on the black bezel around the screen on the bottom third. You'll get the ripple. Nowhere else though. And you have to press it pretty hard. It's not an issue.
No screen lift on this one. Screen lift was replaced by this ripple. That's actually how I noticed it, checking my new one for seperation, and spongy feel. Which it doesn't have.
Isn't this just a trait of LCD screens?
My One X has the same thing and has a Super LCD screen.

LCD is the screen itself, it is a trait however the bezel and glass should stop this from happening, because obviously if this happens a lot, then device is going to be damaged

Yeah. If you see ripples, you are applying excessive pressure to the screen. This is standard for any LCD, not an issue.

Well said. Not an issue.
Yeah, I'm saying that because my old laptops did the same thing when you touched the screen. Not a issue...
Phones have Glass over the screen. You don't actually touch the LCD. You have the LCD, then the digitizer, then the glass. So I think this is because the LCD is too close to the digitizer because of the screw issue. I had screen separation issues on the left side and this ripple. I made some "washers" using some medication foil packaging (3x) and not only did it fix the screen issue, but the screws are nice and tight (fixes squeaks) and pulls the screen down away from the digitizer so you don't get this effect.
Mine USED to do this (mostly on the left side) but now it doesn't after I put in those "washers". The bottom left is more sensitive still but requires lots of pressure still. If you press hard enough on the screen the LCD will still ripple.
RMA and chill.
I'm sorry but these threads are getting tiring now.

Mine is mainly on the left side as well, its actually quire hard to recreate it on the right, though its possible. I'd just like to assure readers that I am not using excessive force on the screen at all, not even close. As I said, I can recreate this just by holding the tablet with one hand!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
wow, this has to be the biggest non issue for the nexus. it's a LCD if you press that hard of course the screen will ripple. yes the top is glass, but the nexus 7 screen uses a new process with less layers of glass to minimize thickness.
Do you have a laptop or lcd monitor? Press on the screen and see what happens.
OP you are pushing way too hard to simulate normal usage. The screen is covered in thin glass not bullet proof glass and if you push to hard it will flex and distort the black light and cause ripples.
Seriously this is a non issue.

Yeh I got ripples if pushing to hard but had the common sense to understand this is not a fault its LDC my old omnia phone does it.

HAVE ANYONE FOUND A FIX!?!?!?!

Decided to exchange my Nexus 7

People are generally much more prone to complain when their purchase has some issues, while those who have perfect devices are unlikely to post their experiences. To balance that out, I decided to make this post.
My N7 had a very slight screen lift, and I thought I'll just keep it just in case my replacement unit is worse than my current one. After about 3 weeks, I decided to exchange my device, hoping there will be less production issues. Boy am I happy with that decision. Aside from the screen lift, the buttons on the right side always bothered me because it felt too recessed (hard to press). I thought it was just how the device was designed so I never thought much about it. The buttons on my new unit feels just perfect. Very snappy, easy to press, but not too sensitive. Oh, and no screen lift on the new device.
I really feel bad for those who have exchanged their device more than once or twice.
Expecting my first replacement tomorrow death pixels.

I hate saying this but I bought 2 Nexus 7 to swap out parts and make one perfect one. They both had different issues like screen lift, hard to press buttons and missing screws.

The right side of my screen is a lot warmer looking than the left, and it drives me crazy when there's a white background such as a webpage or book.
I missed the Staples return window so I suppose I need to call Asus, just kind of dreading talking to them.
I've considered keeping it but I know I'd be a lot happier if the screen was consistent. (Whites look a lot whiter on the left half of the screen)

Nexus 4 - Defect rate

My initial Nexus 4 has a small hole in the centre of the backlight through which light escapes when viewed from any sort of angle. It's quite distracting, so I've elected to send it back. I've only seen one other user with this defect.
Half the threads on this forum are about problems people are having, and each seems to have a respectable number of vocal sufferers. But people come here because they have these problems, and it's tough to determine how the average customer is making out.
I'm mostly curious because I have no idea what to expect of the replacement I receive. Glue blotches? Who knows.
I wonder what the actual % is. Poll up top for those interested.
I have the speaker problem but i can not hear it. My buddy's N4 has it has well. He said he thinks his is worst on his phone. Because i can not hear it i do not think there is a problem. Over all i have been very happy with the phone. I can't wait for Franco to get his so we can get some better kernels.
These results will always be obscured. People that don't have a reason to complain usually won't make a thread saying" hey got my phone today, works as expected"
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I'm the only person I've seen posting with my defect -- the camera LED doesn't work, no flash, no flashlight. I'm obviously getting a replacement, shipped today.
Mine has a yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen. Replacement was shipped out today
My Nexus 4 locks up in deep sleep (while charging usually). In order to restart the phone, I have to hit Power + Vol Down which shows me the charging animation, afterwhich I can hit power to start the phone. I've already wiped the phone and flashed the stock 4.2 image from Google, and uninstalled any applications known to be incompatible. Seems to be a hardware issue so I requested an RMA.
Mine acted odd but, sometimes when I have a notification, I can't wake the device's screen forcing me to do a power cycle.
To the guy above me, to reset the device all you need to hold is the power button...

Had a speck of dust stuck between the screen and the display. It was super annoying at first because there was a glue "halo" around it, which dried up and it ended up looking like a huge dead pixel.
Replacement arrived fine, but I have had a problem with both phones rebooting constantly when pushing them. It's starting to really piss me off.
Anyone else notice the vibration function is off sometimes. At time its feels great like it should, but other times it feels a little too strong, like it's a little loose.
Overall I'm really happy with the phone; everything is perfect.

When you come to a forum about hardware you will have a high rate of people who have faults, that is natural as people come to ask. You can only find out for yourself and luckily the consumer is protected by law for the first 30 days or whatever they have to decide they aren't happy with it.
The build quality does look quite shocking though.
Hope they don't pass all the replacement directly to LG like what they did on Galaxy Nexus after receiving too many replacement call.

Maybe a faulty device or software issue, I remember I had the same issue 1 month back in my XPERIA SP when kept on flat (not table something soft like pillow or bed) touch din't used to work getting a replacement fixed it but after a while it came back but the latest firmware update on SP had fixed that issue, so I highly doubt it is firmware issue still chances are there that it can be hardware related.

I'm pretty sure this is how capacitive touchscreens work. They need your other hand or fingers touching another part of the phone to register touches accurately.
Handsets like the HTC Sensation had contact points between the shell and phone to connect them. if these contacts got dirty the touch screen acted up!
Only other thing I can think of is a screen protector, though I have one installed and the lightest touches respond fine.

Actually, laying it flat on a table just makes the problem happen more often. I get this annoying issue once or twice daily while normally holding my phone either while walking, sitting, or sleeping.. The last software update made it occur less frequently than before, and I tried rebooting my phone this one time that the issue was persisting and wouldn't go away, and the reboot fixed it for almost a whole day. I'm almost sure this is a software issue, but if it is, I don't know why it only happens with some phones (or maybe others don't notice it as it happens quite rarely? I notice it especially when I'm swype typing..)

Went to the shop, and the guy told me they can take it in, and send it to the tech department, but since they need to replicate the issue themselves to be able to replace a phone, and seeing as how this issue only happens once or twice a day with my phone (regardless of being on a flat surface or not) he said they'll prolly send it back saying there's nothing wrong with it.. Told me to wait for future updates, and if it still ain't fixed by then, to sell my phone and buy something other than the Z1. Lol.

I have the same issue and its not about laying it because i get it sometimes when using the phone in one hand or on move and it makes it only sometimes not always.
