I am not sure about the TA partition. I guess vroot has nothing to do with TA partition.

I did. Now I'm rooted and on 4.2.2. Follow the instructions on the thread. It works very well.
hmm after receiving my device the first thing I did was to update it to 4.2.2 (fw 2.67). Unfortunately I had to downgrade to .310 for being able to gain root with doomlord's toolkit. VRoot doesn't work for me as for an unknown reason it keeps loading like it doesn't detect the device. However unlockroot detects it, but can't get shell root.
Another strange thing is that flashtool always returns that USB debug is OFF although it's ON and well set (connectivity etc..), but I'm still able to flash despite that.
Now the question is, will the root survive to an update...

I rooted my .67 firmware using Vroot and worked perfectly.
This is how i connected my device:
1. USB Debugging on
2. Connection mode (MSC) (from settings->xperia->usb connectivity)
3. Also exit Sony PC Companion before rooting.
Look here for image instructions:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434453
BTW you have to manually install BusyBox after rooting w/ Vroot.

I noticed that you are using Vroot 1.6. A user on another thread for ZR reported that the phone is not detected in the Vroot 1.6.
You should try the new v1.7. And I did it on Win 8.
I was just trying to be as informative and through as I can.

Hello
Flashtool can be downloaded on the Flashtool Homepage (on Installation tab)
As Flashtool was originally developped for X10, you can find a lot of information on the Original X10 Flashtool thread
Major new feature : Fastboot toolbox for 2011 line devices.
Major update for 0.6.8.0 : Ability to now install CWM from Flashtool on locked bootloader.
Fastboot now works fine under linux
Please post fastboot issues here in this thread
If ever you want to setup an eclipse environment for Flashtool, you can check this thread
Flashtool does not recognize the decrypted FW.
I downloaded the decryptd FW for the Arc - extracted the files and copied it to the firmware folder of the flashtool (with Folder inside and without folder inside (.sin files directly to "firmware" folder)).
Started flashtool, pushed Flash, but no FW is available. Maybe I have to convert the .sin files in one .ftf file, but how?
Good initiative
Will follow this thread closely and hope for it being completely rooted before release

Good news about flashing
Succesfully flashed by Decrypted ROM (without root...)
Guys why don't you try something to root the ARC like the nexus s phone?
i think they are at the same ver2.3.2
Maybe it will help looking at nexus s dev forum?
i would like to root it as i just brought mine today.
its a generic ver. with no branding of telco.
Nexus S was not rooted. It was security unlocked. Same will be done with XPERIA Arc.

But that doesn't mean it that it will take eternities, or will it? I think about getting the Arc and rooting is not a must, but would be really nice to have for such things as SetCPU...
How much has to be done to enable rooting for it, or will it all be solved by unlocking the bootloader?
i think since the bootloader is now unlockable (& mine is already unlocked ) it would be much appreciated to have recovery compiled for our handsets..
has any1 a clue how to do so?
Question for people that that have created a FTF file.
What loader did you use? If you select the arc, I notice it just hangs. However, if you use the X10 loader it completely very quickly.
Thanks
do we need to unlock the bootloader if we flash the SE rom?
we unlock the bootloader doesn't want the se rom.
Has anyone here decrypted ROM from their phone. I did the SEUS update and placed two files into a folder and decrypted them with FlashTool then when it tried to package it up it get stuck here
"Adding loader.sin to the bundle" and this happens when I select the ARC option but if I do the X10 it goes through.
Any hints?
EDIT:
Attached is the LT15 missing from Loaders folder in Flash Tool for make Bundling available for arc decrypted file.

Why are you trying to flash an older software version? 244 is the latest software version available and is much more stable than 423.
Anyway, if you really want to do so, follow this guide - How to flash stock roms with Flashtool

If you were following this guide to root 244 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405, then all that would change is the kernel, not the software version. That is why your phone still reported 244 as the software version after you had flashed the 423 kernel.

If you are on .136 you can't root directly with apps like Vroot or 360. The only way to root your phone is the method of NUT here: Root 4.3
The method is for Locked Bootlader so you will not lose anything, even the Warranty, just read carefully and follow the instructions.
Is this correct?

There is no other ways and,
Flashtool is an Application to flash FTFs.
XZDual Recovery is a Recovery and have to be flashed on Z1.
FW .290 is a Firmware like .136.
..and Yes, you missing stuff, all is on XDA, just search.
Again, if you want Rooted .136 you have to follow and read carefully what to do on that thread.
If you don't want to have Rooted Phone but you just don't like bloatware on your phone then Flash a generic Unbranded FTF .136 via Flashtool and you are done.
Ok, I'll try that post.
Thanks for your help and patience.

There will be no direct Root because Google made Android more secure so if you want to root you have to start understand first what you have to do. Starting from here and watching the Video where all explain. You have just use Flashtool and downdrade to .534 then Root and make all the steps. Nobody will do it for you.

Getting lots of reboots now.......it's not looking good?

CRASHES & REBOOTING.......NOT OKAY! Maybe a heat issue.......while updating apps? took the back off seems to have helped?

Download root check app from store and check that you have proper root.. Kingroot by itself does not give proper root so use supersu-me app or similar to convert from king to su.. Even if you have full root, you can't remove sys-apps.. Some custom firmware allows you to but it's not advisable.. Gives bugs.

No bro, u just visit the link Bolydark posted here, follow the steps to replace Kinguser with supersu correctly and reboot. You will see that the king user is removed and you will be able to easily install SuperSu binaries in supersu app into ur fone. I hope it will improve ur battery backup again?.
Then u can easily install Nuts XZdualrecovery too.
How did u install xzdualrecovery?

Ok, here u go
1. Go to Nuts xzdual recovery site.
2. Search for "XZdualrecovery locked bootloader for zr installer. Zip" (make sure u download installer. Zip and not the flashable. Zip).
3. Extract the zip file in ur PC.
4. Enable usb debugging in ur fone from Settings>Developer options> usb debigging and connect ur fone to ur PC.
4. Now run install.bat file which is in that zip that u just extracted and follow the onscreen instructions.
And u r done

I didn't encountered such problem, u can just unroot it using kingroot only btw. I recommend u replace kingroot with SuperSu, its a better option.
