Hi All
Back in July, I used to own an Ativ S, before I spotted the HTC One, after jumping ship to the One for 2 months, due to missing calls because of low ringer volume on the S and drawn by the Boomsound speakers, screen and lovely camera, I finally came back to WP8 as Android was just too messy for me and it never changes. Anyway, back in July.. my old Ativ S sync'd music and playlists great with WMP12 (Win7x64), no issues. I have about 15GB of music I like to carry round, so no good on internal storage.
However, now after returning to an unlocked UK Ativ S, v.8.0.10327.77, on the SD Card.. my music duplicates tracks (2 of everything) and the playlists are there, but with 0 songs in them, yet it all sync's perfectly when sync'd with the internal 16GB phone storage.. Im suing a 32GB Class 6 Samsung SD Card.
When I tried to sync using the WP desktop program, some tracks copied but most reported errors.
Anyone else seeing this or any suggestions
Thanks

Hi Folks,
thanks for a great discussions on this forum, it helped me a lot in some issues!
I have had a good idea of having a "universal" device since my first pda. And I thought I would get one with Diamond, but unfortunately... The issue is that am trying to use Diamond as a GPS device and a memory unit at the same in my car... I have an MP3 car radio with USB (incl. power supply), so what I am trying to get is:
-> Running GPS inside Diamond (e.g. Navigon)
-> Running car radio (supplying Diamond with power)
-> Car radio reads Diamond's internal flash memory over USB
Until now I only managed that Diamond's GPS running and getting power over USB (-> selected ActiveSync after plugging in the USB cable into car radio) OR Diamond's internal memory serving MP3s for my car audio and charging itself over USB.
So my question: Is it theoretically possbile to get what I want?
I know, setting Diamond as internal memory demounts the flash for external USB device and makes it unavailable for internal applications... And ActiveSync will never work with the car audio... And there is not enough space to place GPS maps into ROM... But probably you have some ideas or tweaks of apps, which could help me???
So what I tried was:
1. Creating two memory patritions my SD-card with my old XDA mini S and demounting them with WM5torage. It didn't work with mini S as WM5torage recognised only one created partition. It also didn't work with Diamond as I could not create two partitions on it (for several reasons).
2. I tried to find an extra soft app, which would "extend" ROM emulating it by using the space of the internal memory. Didn't work.
3. Use different USB modes...
So do you have an idea?
Thanks and regards,
schroschy

I've got the same kind of car radio... but I don't see any chance to get what you (and I) want. so get yourself a usb-memory-stick (with even more than 4 gb) or a second diamond
Anrgy...
Argh... I'm so f**king angry!
'Cause HTC Diamond Pro, which comes out in a couple of weeks, got 512 MB ROM and an external miniSD card slot - just enough to place a map of Germany or enough mp3's / ogg's on each sigle partition!
Bastards...
EDIT: But there MUST be a workaround! I can't believe it doesn't work! I heard Micro$oft is working on an alternative product to ActiveSync... Maybe it'll help us...
Any further suggestions?
a new radio...
i thought about a new radio with bluetooth. so you can play music with the diamond and use tomtom at the same time and hear both (music and commands) through the speakers in your car...
it's cheaper than buying a pro
there was an app for older pdas that would allow you to present the storage as a disk , i think you could also still access it from the pda
@cookie: you guess you mean WM5torage... i tried this one, it didn't work with xda mini s (qtek 9100). and it does not work with wm6.1 anyway...
@Herr_Knigge: i though about it... what you mean is basically using diamond's internal media player and transmitting audio via bluetooth, don't you? i will try it out next time at the media store and will share my experiences...
thus, if anyone has a good workaround / tweak / app to solve the problem - you are welcome
I'm curious about why you're so determined to get this to work... is it so that you don't have to buy a car charger kit?
Seriously, you can get a 4GB flash drive for peanuts
@Davey101:
well sure you can get an SD for peanuts, but hangig around with your sd-card plus cardreader plus all this chargers etc. is what i hate... why can't i have everything in one device???
@Herr_Kringe:
i had a small BT-test in the media store on firday. it worked fine (with some minor interruptions when loading) with sony mex bt 5000. however, i am not sure about the sound quality. sony supported special audio-streaming-mode and i started diamond's bluetooth-headset-mode... so i guess it was all mono sound. thus you can tweak it to joint stereo in diamond's regestry...
another thing i'm worried about using BT is the volume level. since the audio player is running in diamond and not in the car audio device, loudness maximization inside diamond could cause some distortions. and i am not sure if there is any sound wave normalization / limiting inside the bluetooth interface. i will do some more tests this week.
PS! another cool thing was that navigation speech was also heard in car radio over bluetooth there was kind of a loundess controller between player and navigation, so the player turned down the level to hear the navigation speech
Alright, simply put: I want to use my Tilt to replace my old MP3 player.
I installed PocketPlayer and got an 8 gig MicroSD card. Filled the card about half-full with music, and plugged it in.
This is the weird thing. The first time I put it in, PocketPlayer recognizes all the files (1200 or so), and they play without issue.
The problem is, if I exit the program and try again later, only about 60 files are still in the library.
When I check the card with File Explorer, I only see those files. If I take the card out and open it on my PC, everything's still in there.
So my question is, why is it that my Tilt isn't able to keep all these files available to me?
Any suggestions or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.
i would try not to place all the files in 1 dir but put them in sub dirs if you dont already to see if it makes a difference
never had the issue myself but my lib is a tree struct with artist->album->tracks
hmm, I personally use media player so i have my db or artists/geners/albums etc
My card is 4gb with a boat load of songs on it, have you tried using a diffrent player to confirm its not pocket thats not causing the problem ?
do the files disapear from you another(total commander/etc) file explorer within windows mobile as well ?
um my 2c's
I have 1.4G of music on mine, in appropriate directories, and it's okay with Pocket Player.
However, I find that Pocket Player uses a lot of battery playing them. I don't know if it's because I have them in ogg format or what, but the Tilt gets quite warm when playing for a while and the battery drop is pretty high, although I haven't actually measured it yet. I should do that tomorrow.
I haven't had any problems w/ TCPMP & my 8 gb card. I have all my music in storage card\my music\'artist names', and all the playlist files saved in my music
the htc audio manager is good no problems when using it with 8gb card. but the repeat function doesnt work does anyone have the same problem???
I use Mortplayer (Freeware) which is better than any commercial app out there. I have lots of MP3's on my 8gb card and always reads my library. It can also display album art. It also has presets and extra Bass etc etc. Try it out.
Does your Tilt go boooom?
Okay, re-organizing the music into directories worked.
Now I'm faced with the problem of getting an effective way to listen to it.
I have a good set of headphones, but the USB-headphone adapter is another story.
I don't like the fact that the adapters make it so that the microphone doesn't work. What's the best solution for an adapter? Or should I just give up and go Bluetooth?

I personally like the Motorola S9 bluetooth headset. It all depends on the style you like but they sound pretty good. For bluetooth, it also depends on how much you'll be listening to it between charges.
I use the Plantronics convertible headset. Without the earbud it you can listen or make calls like a standard bluetooth. With the earbud you get stereo sound. The fit is dependant on your ears, though. They give you several options, including isolating buds, but you have to find what fits your ear best. Sound is great, and the bud make stereo convenient. I keep the bud in my pocket, so it is always available.
I use the latest Pocketplayer without a proble and like that the new version supports bluetooth control button like next song and play/pause. I still use TCMP to play my videos and with those two you cant go worng.
Hello, dear people who happen upon this thread,
I just bought a Sony Xperia Z, I used to have a GS3. On both of these phones I seem to have trouble with the playlists.
I created some playlists with foobar2k (format .m3u). In most of these playlists, there are songs with Japanese tags. I put the playlists on my phone, but strangely enough only the songs without a Japanese title tag get displayed. I can find the songs on the phone, they are just not in the playlist.
I first thought it was because the GS3 doesn't support Japanese, but I'm having the exact same problem on my Xperia Z. It works fine if I add them manually on the phone itself, but I'm kiiiiinda reluctant to add 3000+ songs to playlists manually.
Would anyone know what the problem could be? Is it the phone or is it foobar?
Thank you for taking a look at my silly problem, any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I tried transferring the tracks via USB, but in the end it took over 2 hours and at about 2/3rd through it said there was an error in the operation, saying the device didn't respond anymore. Phone works fine though.
I took a look at the tracks that were already transferred, but still no tracks with Japanese title tags in the playlists, even though they are on the phone. I'm really at my wit's end here.
I installed Media Go today, and I managed to transfer one of the playlists without problems (i.e. the Japanese songs are there and are displayed on the phone). When I try to transfer the other ones to the phone I get an error message: "Due to device limitations with international characters in playlists, the track 'music\03 歴代の桜師.mp3' was removed from playlist '狐の工作室' after transfer. Time: 2013/06/06 21:30:00 Code: 0x00000000
I really don't know why I was able to transfer the first playlist flawlessly, but it keeps deleting the Japanese entries for the next ones... I'm starting to get really desperate here.
UPDATE: I just contacted a Sony representative through chat, and during the chat it suddenly... started working? I now have all playlists complete on my phone, including the Japanese tracks... Nor me or the Sony representative have any idea how. I did the same thing as I always did, just... suddenly it worked. Very strange. Anyone has any idea why?
I replaced my UK Ativ S 2 days ago, however, now with GDR2 and lack of support and apps from Samsung, Im not sure if I should switch to a Lumia 920 and could do with some advice from the community.
My reasons are:
- Ativ S has an awful speaker with very low ringer and text message volumes, I sometimes miss calls.
- Since GDR2, my music/playlist syncing on SD Card is broken (2 or 3 tracks repeated, empty playlist), but is ok on the Phone storage.
- Camera is OK but sometimes blurry, so not an amazing Cam.
- AMOLED screen is a bit over saturated and unreadable in sunlight.
However, what Ive read about Lumia 920s, even after GDR2 update (Are these still true as of GDR2)..
Nokia music is still broken.. same issues as Im having above with the ativ sd card.
the 920 still randomly shuts down and crashes on basic tasks like phone calls and music sync.
Phone signal and wifi drops out randomly.
Sudden battery drains.
Im attracted to the Nokia because it has 32GB onboard , which is enough for me, useful Nokia apps, great sound and louder ringer volumes - apparently.
Great camera.. and of course, looks lovely.
I do love WP8, the best OS in a long time, I just cant decide whether to stick on Ativ S or 920.
Thanks
I'd stick with it. The only interop-unlocked device at the moment is the ATIV S, so I'd hold out until either a larger physical WP device releases e.g. the Lumia 1520? or a different device gets hacked.
For put music corect use a Windows phone app disponible in windows 8/ 8 Pro!

????.. Don't quite understand what you mean..
Decided to stick on Ativ S... I sold the one I had.. and bought a brand new sealed one on eBay.. Scan Computers in the UK are selling an Unlocked batch off for £190 (inc P&P), now Sync'ing playlists to SD is working fine, so unless theres been an update, then I mustve had a faulty device.
Thankfully all sorted
Back to loving the Ativ S.. I just wish Samsung would Support it
Hi guys,
Im having real trouble getting music onto my Ativ S. I either sync it with Jriver or copy direct to the SD Card and it doubles up all of the tracks. Sometimes it triples or quadruples the track list. I then delete everything to start again but the tracks all stay listed on the phone. Is there a way to refresh the list? I dont want to blank the phone yet again.
I have searched but cant find any thing on this. Its so bad I had to go on holiday and had no music. Ironic that my old Android devices sync better with my Windows 8 desktop than my Windows 8 phone does!
I cant find any other decent music app in the store either. I really like my Ativ S but I also really like music. Will have to go back to Android just to have Poweramp back.
PS. I also tried by ditching the SD and just using the onboard memory, same issue. It all doubled again. Also photos seem to randomly double but that I can cope with.
It's a known issue, but should have been fixed in GDR2. Is your phone up to date? GDR2 should have been available for some weeks now.
