Hello together,
yesterday i decided to root my One and flashed the CVM recovery.
Now i woul like to know which is the best, smoothest and battery friendly custom Rom ?
GE or Sense ?
You have to try.
Mods don't like this type of thread because anyone have different idea.
For example for me is the ViperOne.
For you can be a GE based rom...
You have to try the rom that you like and see, if you don't like it, you can flash another rom

You ruin the best park by asking others. Try different ones see what you like. Just make sure you do a backup of your current Rom first!

Hi guys,
So ive reached the point where its time to put a rom other than the stock rom that im currently running. Now ive looked on the forums here and can see that there are several variations floating around. Really id like opinions on what is considered a stable rom to run. I dont use my phone for anything fancy, occasionally play a game, listen to music and all the obvious stuff. Any suggestions/ opinions would be most welcome.
Many thanks
Jim

Cyanogenmod 7.Just flash it and use it.
Emanon ROM would be suitable for you; it's the closest one to stock ROM.
CyanogenMod is a completely different ROM than stock ROM; and maybe you'll have some difficulties in adapting to its features and bugs (if any).

if u like the looks and interface of stock rom use emanon rom
and if u want a completely new rom with extra features go with cm7 rom
Thanks guys, have used cm rom in the past on my x10 mini pro. So it would seem the cm7 would be the way to go! Many thanks for the input guys. I am assuming odin is the best way forward with flashing a new rom?

custom ROMs for the galmin are not flashable via Odin. Only stock ROMs can be flashed through Odin. Mininum requirement for CM7 is 2.3.4.. If you have GB 2.3.4 then you can directly flash clockworkmod recovery.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15626837&postcount=2
Choose ROMs from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1314
Please do follow special instructions from the Devs.. Happy Flashing!
A click on the Thanks button would be much appreciated..
I'm sure someone will be able to answer this super easily.
I'm new to rooting and ROMs, I just rooted my 4x hd yesterday and after being blown away at how easy it was, I'm now considering flashing a rom.
I've read around that you can get things that let you select the rom you want on boot. I was wondering if I could do this with the stock rom and cyanogenmod?
Do I have to partition the internal storage or something?
Also I'm pretty sure when you flash a new rom you loose apps and other data but can someone confirm this for me please?
And one final question. What's your favourite stable rom for the 4x hd? If I am able to switch between ROMs like that, I might add another I want to get close to vanilla if I can.
I am on version 20a stock rom android 4.2

No, you're on v4.1.2 if you're running stock ROM. But you could have found all those answers by searching first.

Hi buddy you can try different custom roms for SSG3 mini one of them is Maclaw's CM10.1 you can check out the Dmod Rom too it's on version 6 by now, there are also pacman and AOKP custom roms as well as enox and benz rom, there are some other more roms but these are the most used by people around, (there isn't a paranoid rom until I know and unfortunately there isn't a MIUI rom either ) i'm personally using carmor rom that is based on Dmod rom v6 good luck trying out pal

Install a custom recovery, easiest way to install is by downloading goo.im (TWRP) or rom manager (CWM), just choose either one
then you can flash custom packages in recovery, and you might also want to flash the 3 button mod to enter recovery

already done installing a new custom rom i tried the [ROM][AROMA][DEODEX]DMod v6 its cool.. thanks all
CM10.1 and AOKP are very good but lacking the ability to record videos.. Dmod is my favourite stock based ROM but they're all worth trying.
My first custom ROM on this phone was benzrom, no problems there.
PAC ROM and paranoid android were a bit slow for my liking. Perhaps they're not as suited to this phones speed.
I'm currently using AOKP by maclaw studio and it is my favourite as its very smooth and light, and has good customization.

I haven't tried AOKP yet, how about recording videos on that rom? Is worth trying?

You can check out all the ROMs in the Android development section of the forum Good Luck!
With all the hype about the official sense 6 ota rolling out I've been considering reverting back to stock w/ root. The reason is I dont use many of the features that custom roms offer, I like how sense 6 looks and prefer it to be stock (no init.d support etc).
I dont care about features or performance, my only concern is battery life, so how does the stock rom compare to custom roms on the HTC One in terms of battery life?
stock

I would say stick to stock as much as possible because custom roms have bugs and u have to wait till devs finds any solutions

I find that quite interesting
you are on xda-developers but recommend staying stock... somewhat of a controversy there, no?
and stock doesn't have bugs?
I have to agree with slogger. I tried most of custom ROMs on xda and none of them can match my stock 4.4.2 in combination with Elemental kernel. I have perfectly smooth, fast phone and my battery lasts around 50 hours off charge with moderate use with CPU OCed to 2.05 GHz

Alright then I guess im going to run an RUU later. One thing though, how do you get a custom kernel to flash ontop of the stock rom?

The same way you flash a kernel on a custom rom. Flash it from custom recovery. Make sure that the kernel you want to use is Sense compatible

I read that that wont work, since the stock rom has a secure kernel. You would need an unsecure kernel in order to be able to write another on over it.
But ill give it a shot regardless.

I unlocked my bootloader and flashed Elemental right away, so I guess not
No you don't. The secure kernal affects for example deleting system apps or any bloat software that you don't want. It will be back after a reboot. You can flash anything in recovery no probs
