Hi there, I flashed my note from [4.1.2 JB]Ultimate N7000 LT4 JB 4.1.2 v6 to AllianceROM_JB XXLSZ_v3.
But after the install, i found out that the new Rom was a bit laggy for me, so i decided to restore to my previous Ultimate ROM.
I did not do a data/factory reset or wipe cache partition before choosing the Ultimate JB backup.
The phone now is restored to Ultimate JB, it does turn on and load pass the samsung logo but it will stuck on the first page, can't go to another page or select any app or do anything.
What should i do now? I can go to recovery mode.
Philz Touch 4 CWM base 6.0.3.1
Thanks for your help!

Does your backup have the preload partition included?
Most of custom roms use it to load system apps.
Did you wipe the phone before restoring?
If not try to format data, system and preload partitions with thé recouvert.
Then do a factory reset.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
What is preload partition?
I did not wipe my phone before restoring, i should have but i have forgotten to...
I can't do a factory reset because the screen will be stuck on the first page after a successful reboot.

OK. so after the factory reset.
I could restart the phone but the phone got stuck while setting up the phone, e.g. wifi password and google account.

Good new, your phone is fine. Try the folowing..
Enter recovery, do a factory reset and WITHOUT exiting from recovery, flash your backup.
If you have an option to clean the phone chose it, recovery asks you if you want to install a new rom, and then your phone will be ready to flash your backup.
If not you can do it manualy under the ''mount And storage'' menu.
Format only partitions named '' system'', ''data'', And '' preload''

This concerns my galaxy note n7000. I had a rooted checkrom v4 working on my note. I tried to install criskelorom v2 and got bootloops. I then tried to go back to stock via odin and flashed stock N7000 KL3 ROM which i had earlier used, I had to go to stock because after bootloop even recovery was not working. now after flashing stock i am getting a strange problem of the phone getting stuck at the welcome to gt-n7000 screen . "touch the android to begin" . nothing is happening after touching the android on the screen although i can change the language etc and even the pull down notification is also working but the phone is stuck at the initial stage. I have a nandroid backup of my initial checkrom in my internal sd card but cannot restore it before installing a rom with root and cwm. Kindly help . Thanks.
I'm having the exact problem. I'm hoping we can create a soft brick sticky thread. I walked away from my phone last night because I was getting frustrated.
My attempts to flash stock ROM via Odin resulted in the "not responding" message in windows. I can get to both CWM and download mode, however any ROM flashed via CWM results in the behavior described by the OP. fortunately I have access to another Samsung phone, so I can double check driver installation (although it worked for flashing previously).
I'm continuing a search through the forums to find some alternate methods for unbricking. Hope someone has an idea.
Thanks!
It seems that the stock roms i was trying to flash were nonwipe ones so i flashed xxla3 which is a wipe rom and was able to boot . I then flashed the earlier kl3 rom over this rom because kl3 is rootable. I then rooted and installed cwm booted into recovery and restored my earlier nandroid backup. I think the situation arises because the nonwipe rom was unable to clear the cache , user data etc
Thank you for the information. I had exactly the same problem. What did you use to root KL3 ?
Just wipe both cash and user data, and reboot.
reboot to recovery mode -> mount and storage -> format system, format cache, format data.
and do a factory reset and wipe cache.
problem should be solved cause that's what i did

Hi guys,
I believe this question has been asked multiple times, and i myself tried searching for answers from many various source to clarify my doubts, only to get more confused due to conflicting information.
Let's say now i am on a custom ROM. Before flashing the custom ROM, i made a backup of my stock touchwiz rom using cwm. However i want to revert back to the exact same state before flashing the custom ROM. What are the steps i need to do to restore the backup file?
1) Some sources mentioned just booting into cwm recovery, selecting "backup and restore" option, select "restore" and choosing the desired backup file will allow the phone to restore to the state prior to flashing.
2) Some other sources mentioned needing to wipe cache/wipe delvik cache/format system/format cache etc. first before i can restore the backup file.
So which is it?
Thank you!
Personally, I always choose option 2 if going to another rom. If restoring an earlier backup within the same rom i use option 1.
Don't know excact what the right thing to do is, but it never hurt to wipe cache / dalvik cache / system because you have it all backed up anyway. At least if you backup regulary. I back up regulary and delete the backups i don't want.

Thanks for the tip!
Is wiping cache/delvik cache sufficient in most cases?
Cos i saw a youtube video, where the guy did not wipe cache/delvik cache. instead, he formatted cache, data and system.

Any other things i should look out for or preventive measures i should take for restoring backup from cwm?
i have been reading of cases where restoration through cwm fails and they have to go through the whole process of re-rooting and flashing before being able to restore it
there is no need for wiping, the recovery does it on its own prior to restoring.

I wanted to update my 5830, so I flashed firmware via ODIN to the newest, all was good since I wanted to give my phone to my wife, and I needed to do factory reset... after that my phone stuck in bootloop, cant go more than samsung logo, sometimes animation, and its blinking and restarting again. What can I do? I performed new flash with new rom - all going good, but I'm trying to factory reset it again, and its bootlooping again...
can some1 help me back my phone to good condition with factory reset possibility?

I'v done this several times, by cwm and by stock recovery - same result. Finally I've installed branded rom and it's working perfectly to the moment I wanted to uninstall operator apps by titanium backup. Sometimes at the finishing of uninstall phone reboots... but working.

yeah n between uninstalling system apps system boots but thats not a problem as those apps which you wanna remove get removed even if your phone gets rebooted
Did you also wipe dalvik? Try to flash a stock (old) firmware via odin and do this steps.
1.reboot to recovery
2.wipe data /factory reset
3.wipe cache partition
4.reboot
İt has to boot normally in 2-3 minutes. İf doesnt tou gotta make a Jtag operation which you cannot do without the RiffBox.

You should flash a multi package firmware when rolling back from custom roms.XXKPH is one such rom, then you can flash latest update afterwards.Cache etc never matter for me

That it's normal, there're custom roms that come pre-configured (necessary for booting)... when you do the wipes you break that initial configuration (necessary for booting) and that's end in bootloop

does this loop happen to every ace user after wipes.
why intial configure break in just wipes.
i have to reflash the rom or restrore nandroid all the time after wipes.
is there any other permanent solution for this.

Yes... about this, could @Mardon inform you in a better way
Our ace hasn't much internal memory, neither official Samsung 4.x versions, also when you do a "wipe", you format partitions as; /system, /data... they contain important information for the boot, these information isn't permanent and is deleted after that so, then our Ace can't boot

I completely agree with what @Viper The Ripper said. Most custom roms comes with preconfigured boot settings some of which are installed in the data part too. These preconfigured boot files are usually installed during your first boot which is why the first boot of any custom rom takes some time. So as long as you do a Wipe Cache Partition, you will have no problems. But if you do a Wipe Data/ Factory Reset or Wipe Dalvik Cache, then it will delete the preconfigured boot setting files. So next time when you restart, your phone cannot complete the booting because of the missing files and hence your phone gets in a bootloop. You can still solve this by reinstalling the same rom again from the recoverymod so that it can again reinstall the preconfigued boot setting or restore a nandroid backup to restore the boot settings. Hope I helped

Hello Everybody, My phone is Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and I have an issue.I am the one who is changing rom constantly.I was using the rom named ''Xperiance-Ace-v4_Sky_Walker_Studios'' for a long time.Lately i loaded another rom, 2 hours after i used, The phone was closed by itself, I tried open phone again but it stayed at boot animation screen. After that, I thought that rom is spoilt, I tried other roms but they stayed at boot animation screen as well.I tried all of roms that i have but result was same.I thought that i should try the rom which i was using before all those problems started. So i flashed Xperiance-Ace-v4_Sky_Walker_Studios Rom.Bizarre but it worked. When it opened i have faced with some pop-up ''android upgrading 0/70'' when it finished (70/70) i was at homescreen and all of my apps that i downloaded when i was using this rom at old days was there. It was so weird, And all aplications started to stop itselves and i even havent touched any of them. Like ''Unfortunately Whatsapp has stopped'' ''Unfortunately contacts has stopped'' ''Unfortunately facebook has stopped'' finally they all stoped working and i tried open applications, No application opened even contacts.
Present state: Only one rom is working, Others staying at boot animation screen and the rom which is working actually not working, Only phone is opening, No application working
What is the Problem? What Should i do? I am waiting your answers, THANKS.

I suggest you install the stock rom using odin. It seems you have some corrupted files. Before flashing the stock rom, do Format Data/ Factory Reset, Format Cache Partitions, Mount & Storage> Format /system, Wipe Dalvik Cache and Wipe Battery Stats. Once you have flashed the stock rom, go to recovery mod and do Wipe Data/ Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition (otherwise bootloop might occur). After that install root and CWM from the recovery mod. Now you can install any other custom rom without any problem. Do post your results. Hope I Helped

Once you have installed CWM 5, do Format Data/ Factory Reset, Format Cache Partitions, Mount & Storage> Format /system, Wipe Dalvik Cache and Wipe Battery Stats.
