bootloader unlocked itself? - Sony Xperia ZR

hello everyone.
i bought my phone from china, arrived yestarday all jolly good, it came with 4.2.2 rooted and bootloader locked (i presume because BE was working, i never bothered checking).
the shinese version it came with was bloated with baidu and chinese stuff so i decided to flash it with a new rom.
followed the guide to get a rooted 4.2.2, first i installed HK version of fw 310, installed cwm flashed system rom etc...
everything worked perfectly fine and now i have a clean original rooted with cwm 4.2.2 firmware.
BUT i discovered BE is gone and when i go to *#*#service#*#* it sais my bootloader is unlocked! although i never did anything to unlock it!
now, i did do a TA backup before i flashed the new rom and backup went fine, but when i try to relock it goes through the proccess, sais everything went fine but nothing happens.... BE is still gone and service menu still sais i have unlocked bootloader...
EDIT:
i had a cwm backup from the original rom, i restored it, bootloader is not unlocked there, BE is gone... the first time i used it it was there.
tried to restore TA to that state which is the one i took the TA backup in and nothing happens...

On configuration (Service menu) does it says Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes? or it says Bootloader unlocked: Yes?

Bootloader unlocked: Yes
I'm thinking now mybe the seller sold it to me unlocked in the first place :/
a little bummer, but since the only lost is BE in pictures gallery (BE for videos still works) it's no big loss.
for pictures it's better to see them how they really are, for videos BE is actually cool, it improves them.

[Q] Unlock bootloader and camera question

Hi guys I'm considering to purchase the Z1 beocz I lose my precious Xperia S a week ago :crying: (very very sad, really love it)
As I'm those type who will definitely root the device and probably unlock it some time later, I really care about the camera problem.
I read the the DoomLord thread which told us to backup the "TA" thing before unlocking the bootloader, so we can restore it and have the camera working again.
May I ask what the "TA" actually is?? how can I backup that thing??
So after I retore it, is the bootloader still unlocked??
If i screw up the TA thing, can I relock the bootloader and save the camera by the official repair function in Sony Update Service??
Sorry I'm noobish but plz explain these things to me thank you!!
BTW, are there something i should consider before i buy the phone?? Is it the right time to buy it??
thank you
Its a partition on the device called trim area.
There is a thread about backing it up and its very easy to do.
If you do not have a TA backup then relocking the bootloader will NOT fix the camera.
Also, do not restore someone elses TA it will hard brick your phone

How if I repair the phone with update service after relocking the BL?
And after I restore the TA, is the bootloader still unlocked??
I'm wondering if there's possible to keep both bootloader unlocked and the 20mp camera working...

Restoring TA relocks the bootloader
There is no way to have an unlocked bootloader and working stock camera
I'm getting a little confused!
After rooting + custom recovery + custom ROM, can I restore my TA to get the camera back? Obviously would like to keep root and the custom ROM.

Depends on whether the custom ROM requires an unlocked bootloader. Some custom ROMs don't need your bootloader to be unlocked. So that means you can still have root + custom recovery (which don't need unlocked bootloader) + custom ROM, and your bootloader is still unlocked and your camera is still working.
But if the custom ROM requires an unlocked bootloader, then restoring the TA will result in the bootloader being relocked, which means your ROM no longer working.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Basically you can only use roms based on official firmware for now (and have a working camera) afaik. All the roms in the original development area (based on AOSP, custom kernels) required unlocked bootloader and as a result have a non-working camera.

[Q] restore ta with broken screen no root?

Dear xda
I need my phone to be repaired, they will not repair it is i have mij BU unlocked.
Today while in the Phonehouse (while waiting on my buddy with i-phone troubles) my xZ1 dropt, screen down on the floor.
Screen was cracked, from the right to left (down and up).
Screen is not responsing.
I have my ta bakup, and a copie of the orriginal softwhare it had when i made the backup.
I flashed stock FW only to discover/remember i have to give root rights to restore TA. I cant even unlock my screen.
does someone know a solution?
The only thing I can think of is flash kernel (like doomlord) and then restore an cwm back-up from someone with the given rootrights (for ADB I supose?) and usb-debugging on.
Will this work?
If Yes...
Is someone willing to sent me a back-up? ( is wich I can restore TA and then restore clean .534)
Please Help
My suggestion is to flash a cmw recovery so that you can use the volume keys to navigate.
Then flash a pre rooted rom and use a mouse via a usbotg cable.
Gain root, restore YOUR ta, then flash a stock ftf.
You should be able to claim on warenty then

did it, worke like a sharm (restored my old ackup, started sixaxis with usbotg mouse so I could use a mouse while pluged in pc, restored ta, restored FW.
can I check somewhere if it worked?
flashtool says my BLis loked
dial
*#*#7378423#*#*
goto service info/configuration.
It should say
bootloader unlock allowed: yes
then your bootloader is locked
if it says
bootloader unlocked: yes
then it is still unlocked.
But if flashtool says its locked, then its locked.
FYI, I returned my bootloader unlocked phone to Vodafone for a replacement screen, they just sent me a new one with no questions asked

[Q] Relock bootloader - warranty

If I received unlock code from Sony, unlocked phone via official way, than relocked bootloader and restored TA is there any way that service will detect if bootloader is relocked?

I think sony is only able to see especially if your request code!! but the operator does not see it because he lacks experience lool he does not know the word bootloader!
why this issue ??

I dont't think so, because you can request the code and never use it. Restoring TA brings the phone back to state like it was never unlocked. Nobody can tell if you unlocked bootloader or not. If you relock bootloader via flashtool instead via restoring TA backup, then they can tell you relocked it because your DRM keys will be missing. You are safe.
merci

But if I did these steps:
1 Relock bootloader via flashtool
2 Repair via PC Companion
3 Install root and restore TA Partition
4 Install official firmware from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/stock-xperia-z-c6603-10-5-0-230-central-t2759584
Is there ANY chance they will detect it?

No is the simple answer.
I don't know if they have the tools to check such things, but they most probably will only check if official fw == 1 &if bootloader lcoked == 1.
I normal language: They will only check if you have official fw and if your bootloader is locked.
ok
is it normal that the "TA backup" is 160 kilobytes? i did a backup sometime ago.. but 160kb is not really much.. i thought it would be 800mb or something

Sim card and camera did not work

Hello you highly appreciated fellow z3 compact owners.
With wonderful, yet little confusing guides (followed several guides) I managed to have unlocked, rooted ViperX Concept Beta 2099.
Since everything went fine, I decided to try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/unlocked-update-conceptmm-root-recovery-t3291722
That didn't go so smoothly and sim card/camera stopped working. I think something went wrong on relock/unlock phase. :cyclops:
After flashing other ROM:s to test if they would rescue me I ended up without root and Flashtool saying that my phone can not be unlocked. As a last result I restored my TA backup and YES that saved my day.
Now I'm on locked 4.4.4 with root but without TWRP and Service info/rooting status on phone says: Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
My question is: what next?
I still would like to have consept MarshMallow + root + TWRP
Should I try again: [Unlocked][HOW-TO] Update ConceptMM + root + recovery + restore DRM functions
PS. Fastboot won't flash TWRP, command denied or something like that. Is it because the phone is locked?

Help - OTA Update gave me a brick

Hey XDA,
I was rooted, unlocked and TWRP'd on I think 6.4? I realized I wanted to go back to locked and stock after seeing some of the security stuff come out. I used SPFT to flash the 6.1 Prime Rom, and everything was working great. Phone booted no problem, and seemed to work fine. I then tried to use the Wireless Update to update the phone. It looked liked it downloaded fine, but now I'm in a reboot loop, and recovery does absolutely nothing but reboot loop as well. I CAN get the phone into Fastboot mode, but fastboot flash recovery gives me a "failed to get permission" error.
I ran a getvar all, and here is what I have:
unlocked: yes
secure: yes
kernel 1k
bootloader: version-preloader 0.0.00
Version: 0.5
I've tried the SPFT tools again, but it gives me ERROR: S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL.
ANY clue what I can try next to just get the dang thing to be bootable? I don't care root or recovery or what, I just want a working phone, and I'm running out of ideas.
Thanks!

don't panic. everything is as is should be in your situation.
you see when you did getvar all , it said
secure: yes.
that means it only wants to boot signed and secured partitions. Just get into fastboot and do "oem unlock".
you really cant (safely) relock the bootloader. If your boot loader was relock now, you wold be in a perminent boot loop condition not able to recover.
But you can save it with "oem unlock" from where you at now.
You rock. I thought since it said unlocked I didn't need to do it again, but that did the trick. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the phone. I wouldn't mind keeping root, but I want the B12 update.

The dirtycow thing was only needed to get to the unlocked point. He is already there, so his only issue should be the lack of sp flash tool. Until/ if he does the bootloader rollback.
Shouldn't be problem with the modded v7 to roll back either.
Because in order to install the modded version , you need to be unlocked and twrp anyway, right.?

I presume he flashed factory original 6.1 from Colton's site.
I thought flashing original rom with SPFT should result in safely relocked bootloader, why not?
What if he relocked bootloader with 'fastboot oem relock' command after flashing 6.1 but before taking 7.4.2 OTA update? This would also leave him with:
unlocked: yes
secure: yes?
There must be some way to bring phone to original factory state with bootloader locked (meaning unlocked: no secure: yes).
BLU support also cannot do this?

There is and I did it few times while testing my unlock script. Bit the chances of making a brick were so very high I cannot recommend doing it.
There are two other partitions that store the unlock state and they need to restored to really relock bootloader.
OEM relock does not work properly

Can you tell what steps you did to relock?
I really want to bring device to original factory state because encryption does not work when bootloader is unlocked. I did first dirty cow method on original 6.6 ROM (one with newer preloader), then rolled back booloader, installed 6.1 from ColtonDRG site with SPFT and finally installed vampireinfo's 7.4.2 thru TWRP.
However when I encrypted phone, in settings it says encrypted but I can browse device on PC without entering PIN.
On factory state encrypted device (with locked bootloader) I was not able to this

This will brick your phone, if you are not careful, and also if you are carefull. You can browse for help in encryption with unlocked bootloader before doing this, I'm sure there is a solution.
If you replace Seccfg.bin and Secro.bin from a backup from before unlocking bootloader you should be set to locked but I do not know of your phone will boot. You will be doing g that at your own risk.
But if you download the repair solution under the hidden tag(click to show content) in the roll back thread.
In that file it will restore you to 6.1 and it will be locked bootloader. I do not know about keeping v7 and relocked
