Alternate Bands for the Smarwatch 2.... - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Many of you are receiving the smartwatch 2 with your Z1 to be shipped at a later date. This is the silicone strap version, and I was wondering where we may be able to purchase the stainless steel black band. Also does anyone know the specifications of the bad so that maybe we might be able to purchase a non Sony branded strap (save some money)?

You can use any standard 24mm strap. Says so on Sony website so must be true!

White OEM Nexus S Cover

Anyone know where I can get one?
I want one too. The new Canadian Nexus S white back cover is different. It's texturized and doesn't leave fingerprints.

White Nexus S !
count me in on the search. Would like to have one too. =)
Have you guys seen the AT&T version of Nexus S?
Its in ALL white (including the side bezel) and the only part that's black is the screen.
Yah but I think the white side bezel makes it look more like a cheap rubber cover. They made the best combo on the european ones, covering only the back and the buttons in white.
I'be emailed Negri Electronics asking but they haven't got back to me yet. I doubt I'm the only one who had asked
Count me in too! =)

I won't call them fakes, but just non original items, sometime they are not available as OEM just yet, so a good third party, if it fits, it's good enough for me.
Anyway, I buy most of my phone spares and accessories from china, so i know what to look for.
Anyone interested please pm me, I'm going on thursday, I will not entertain anyone without a pm, if they are available I will pm you back.

[Q] Demo Units?

So, I was scouring eBay for a white "case" for my phone, I have the titanium one and I wanted to convert it to the white one, and I found a guy selling the "demo" units, those phones that are just a shell with a fake screen.
I was wondering if anyone knew if those were truly shells, in other words, could I buy one of those, and use it to replace my battery door/front bezel on my AtrixHD.
Thanks!
I don't think you can...in other words those are not real shells...

Yea, I went ahead an ordered one, I figured worst comes to worst it's an $11 piece of plastic!
In my experience "almost" all of the demo units I've ever bought weren't casings.
But I'm guessing you'll confirm when you get your order.

[SOLVED] A REAL charger port actually made by Samsung?

UPDATE: parts4repair.com sells fully working parts!
I have recently replaced the DC In (charger port) board, and as many have experienced, I am having severe degradation of cellular reception.
Obviously the 'OEM' part that I have purchased isn't a real OEM, of this wouldn't be happening.
I am now posting this thread in hope that I can be directed to a seller in the United States that has ACTUAL Samsung factory parts, so I can fix this phone properly.
If you don't have an answer to where I could buy either (1) an actual Samsung part for a reasonable price or (2) a non Samsung part that won't degrade my cellular quality, then please don't respond.
Thank you
call several service centres of samsung if they have the part, and how it costs.
Or order from parts4repair.com, I think noone has had a broken one from there as of yet.

Im in the USA. Would that shop ship here?
I have ordered this part from TWO separate people now, each shipped from China. Both of them i lose 1/2 of my cellular reception.
I wouldn't even care about losing reception, but here where my house is in Los Angeles Suburb, I barely get reception, so before with the original part I had only 1-2 bars. Now, i struggle just to get any reception. (0 bars)
I just want a REAL samsung part. its like pulling my teeth trying to find one
Even if a company or a member claims that they'll give you an original part, you'll never be sure of it until you test it in your device and get your old reception quality.
So I assume that it would be easier (but sadly more expensive) to get it repaired by Samsung.

I would be willing to consider that, but unfortunately Samsung USA refuses to repair any non-US phones. I just got off the phone with them a couple hours ago.
I just ordered 3 more boards from all different people via amazon.com... Hopefully one of them will be OK...luckily they are only $7-8 each... One is called 'refurbished' so hopefully it will be a part pulled from a device instead of a new Chinese manufacture. Otherwise I don't know what to do at this point.

I hate this policy.
But since yesterday when I read about the "new" trick with regional limited devices Samsung became a no-go-company for me.
I need to switch without limitations between Thai and German Sim cards for our Samsung devices. Samsung doesn't want this anymore. So I do not want Samsung anymore.
Luckily I switched already to the Nexus 7 and I am very happy with it until now (big screen, no bloat, 1-day-battery life without any restrictions, fast, and now with a bluetooth keyboard and fitting cover it is nearly perfect).
Good luck with your orders.

Yeah I had to deal with so many replacements... And when this one came it just worked.
Be Sure to take the white part off BOTH sides of the sticky conductive tape so that it adheres to the METAL PART of the phone frame when you install it...
I had to deal with no reception for over a month but now I'm good as new again.

Yes. It comes with the tape.
You can try something in the meantime but it probably won't work, but some report it does. Take the tape from the original and put it in the same place on the replacement.

Well, if you live in a country that sells the version with the removable back and battery, that explains that. Here in the US, it is not available through LG. The only parts available through a 3rd party are the screen and digitizers. I've never had to buy parts from LG before. I'm basing my comment on my experience with motorola. The back is not meant to be user removable or replaceable. Motorola will not provide the parts. You have to go through a 3rd party. At least, that's how it was when I reached out to them.

You're missing the point. Of course it can be opened. It's not supposed to be by the average consumer, which is why some of these companies don't sell parts to the average consumer. Doing it yourself voids the warranty because you are not supposed to do it. Only a technician is supposed to in order to keep the wareanty intact.

That's great that they provide the part. I didn't know that. I was basing my answer on previous experiences from another manufacturer who provided a very similar product.
As for voiding the warranty, that will depend on the manufacturer. Here is the reason why LG could refuse to warranty the device.
1) Defects or damages resulting from use of the product in other than it's normal and customary manner.
It doesn't matter how easy it is to remove the back cover. It was not designed to be consumer removable. Therefore, removing it is altering or using a device in a way that it was not intended. Even if your issue has nothing to do with you removing the back cover, if LG were to find out, they could technically void your warranty citing that it has been tampered with.
I'm not saying they will do that, just that they could. I deal with consumer electronics warranty issues almost daily. I've seen warranties denied for similarly ridiculous reasons.

Rooting shouldn't really be unsafe or anything, but at the moment I don't think it'll work, as the Z1S is on 4.3 after all, and I don't think that Vroot will work with it now. As for roms, I would advise against flashing anything at the moment.

Unfortunately we will likely face a bootloader that cannot be unlocked.
However, if it can I am very curious as to how you go about this.
I absolutely hate taking updates... still haven't taken an update from months ago on my Nexus 7 because I will lose root. It was very difficult to unlock and root my nexus 7, considerably more than rooting my old carrier tied motorola handset, which I didn't expect at all considering I'd used all the same tools to flash and root before.

I think it may have been more that my desktop wasn't properly recognizing the device. Had to jump through all sorts of hoops to get it to work last February. But it's unlocked and rooted now... with an outdated OS. I currently don't have internet service at home. I'll tackle the update and re-root when I've got a nice fast connection.
Would taking the update affect ever re-lock the bootloader?

I am aware it has the same screen, I was referring to the Z1S being taller than the C6903, regardless of screen size.
And what would a metal frame have to do with bending? Obviously if you apply so much force that you bend the device, then you're already damaging it, whether it has a metal or a plastic frame...

Best smartphone I have ever had, literally. Though if I'd been on the market right now I'd have had the Z1 Compact.
Only thing bad with it would be the screen quality (no issues head on, but tilt it and colours start to wash out) and maybe the loudspeaker being a bit tinny/quiet (product of the waterproofing would be my guess).
