Hi Guys,
I was thinking about buying a Samsung Ativ S because my Android device isn't working correctly.
But there is one point which makes me thinking about staying with Android.
Therefore i wanted to ask, if there is a Swiftkey equivalent on WP?
Or is the WP keyboard also capable of adapting the predictions to the words i often type, even if i type some words in an uncommon way?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
It's quite capable of adapting to the words you type, although if the word is not in its dictionary (which is quite comprehensive, in my experience) you will need to add it manually (easily done). Correct the word (or undo an auto-correction) a few times and it will quickly learn. With that said, I don't know Swiftkey (and the keyboard can not *currently* be changed, although the ATIV S is the WP8 model that we're closest to achieving that with). It's quite possible that there are specific features of Swiftkey that you're looking for which WP8 does not provide.
Thanks for your answer. The cool thing in using Swiftkey is that if you are typing a word it is predicting the next word without typing the first letter.
Is it the same in WP?
And another question, does the WP messaging app convert a SMS to MMS after having more than 480 (three SMS) characters typed in, because that is a thing which, in my opinion is weird "feature" in a time in which nearly everyone does have a flatrate in sending SMS?
Cheers
The WP8 keyboard will offer auto-complete options for the next word based on what you've typed so far, yes. You need to manually select them - no just hitting Space, Space, Space to type the next three words - but it's very easy to do.
I don't know what the threshold is (I don't write long SMS very often, and for people who don't have unlimited SMS I use chat) but WP8 will combine sufficiently long multi-SMS messages into a single MMS, yes.

I'm not sure why it does this, but after a while, my text messaging starts lagging.
I'll finish a sentence, and it'll still be typing it. And sometimes it just takes about 2 seconds before it starts typing anything.
Is this the drivers related issue?
No Its NOT a driver issue.
If you look around you would find all you need to do is....
DISABLE XT9!!!
THis helps with Keyboard lag.
Also, If you click reply then flip open your keyboard. Sometimes you just have to wait. Remember this is a small little 400MHz processor. Not a Intel Duo Core Chip.
Alright
What exactly is XT9? As you can probably tell, im somewhat of a n00b. :/
If someone could help me with my lagging txts, and if someone could give me some link or info on how to hold a SMS Log (I cant find any legit links online) that would be supreme!

"T9, that old friend who makes mobile messaging slightly less frustrating, has made a big resurgence at this year's 3GSM with an extreme new look and attitude. T9 developer Tegic just announced a partnership with Samsung, who will use the new XT9 system in some of their upcoming devices. XT9 takes all the magic of regular T9 and turns it up a notch by adding stylus support, next-letter prediction and regional error correction, which compensates for users with fat thumbs mashing the wrong key on tiny QWERTY keyboards. Even more exciting, Tegic announced that they are working on XT9 2.0, which will incorporate speech recognition capabilities and Chinese handwriting recognition, to complement the handful of languages and special characters already supported." Okay, so now that I know what XT9 is, lol how do I disable it?
I cant even find it in the FileExplorer program that my certain ROM runs.
AND still.., what program can I use to keep the logs of my Text Messages

Try searching first. See what you come up with.
I looked up the XT9 on my search drive and found nothing... what should I do?
search the forums
i'll start you off with
"disablext9.cab"
Does anyone know how to tell the XT9 keyboard to allow me to enter the second letter in a word as a capital without having to manually put the keyboard into shift-lock all the time?
It's pretty annoying when wanting to enter two or 3 character initials e.g. XP and the damned keyboard will insist on Xp even though I hit shift followed by P - it doesn't even offer XP in the word list which at least would be an acceptable option.
I know I could add them to the dictionary, but that's just a pain considering I'm not always entering common ones that I would use again.
i discover some version can some version cant....
me using I9000DXJG4 i can...
Hey guys,
I found an app which allows you to type text messages like on an old Nokia cellphone (except T9).
You can download it for free and without any ads from the marketplace: http://windowsphone.com/s?appid=a01a764e-265d-418b-b7e6-802936a692e0
The app is just great. It would be awesome if you could make something to introduce it in the system of the phone, so when you want to write an email or type an web adress you can change from full qwerty to this 1-9
Great job
So happy of hearing that someone still cares about alphanumeric keyboard, I was desperate because I couldn't find any alternative to QWERTY. If you'll be able to include T9 I think that your app would be perfect to text sms quickly with one hand
however I wanted to suggest something like that:
I've noticed that in settings(system)/keyboard, are already available 12-key (alphanumeric) keyboards for some languages (chinese, japanese, korean). I was wondering if it was possible to modify them in a simple way to obtain a full-system integrated keypad with T9 too =)
Btw. In your app, you cannot write numbers 2 and 0.
Nice
Just tried and rated it - nice little app, it's easy to get nostalgic using it
I can confirm the little bug about entering 0 and 2 of the previous poster, doesn't work right now.
Why not add an icon/function to paste the text to the clipboard? It's easy to do in the program, just 1 line of code, and like this one can also use the written text for e-mail, Twitter apps etc.
By the way, you gave the link to the US Marketplace. The app is probably available world wide; if you give the "deep link" as indicated in the details about the app on create.msdn.com the link will lead people directly to their particular, possibly non-US marketplace.
Hi
I've recently got myself a Motorola Razr i running Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and am very keen to find a really good T9-style alpha-numeric keypad because I can't get on with full size QWERTY keyboards on small devices.
I've looked at all the different options on Play but I have a question regarding the built-in keyboard options on this device/OS:
If I lock the phone with a PIN a really nice T9 keypad comes up to unlock the phone yet this is not available in other aspects of the OS such as messaging.
Does anyone know why this is, please, and is there any way to make it available elsewhere?
Thanks,
Paul

It's actually a basic number pad.
I too highly dislike (hate actually) qwerty boards and I can highly recommend the (EvenBetter)NumberPad which I'm sure you've seen on the Store.
It was the first app I bought on buying the phone nearly 12 months ago and works pretty flawlessly, although for whatever reason there has been no update to it since July 2012 and the developer hasn't replied to previous emails I've sent.. As you've probably gathered there's a dearth of T9 keyboards and although I've tried some of the freebie ones since nothing comes close IMO.
My unlock screen isn't just a basic number pad - it has letters on the keys too.
Thanks for your thoughts on the other offerings out there. I have indeed seen the EvenBetter product on Play but was reluctant to spend money on something that might not have been any better than the free ones out there. In what way(s) is this one so much better than the free ones?
Thanks again for your response.
Is your phone retail or network? Curious as to why my unlock screen is just a number pad (not that it matters).
I can’t give a definitive answer as to why I find NumberPad better than the others I played around with as it’s a good ten months since I tried them and my memory won’t stretch back that far!, so let me say what I find so good about it.
The UI is simple, straightforward, and with everything you need to access on one screen: predictive text, ABC mode, add to dictionary, punctuation, numbers, caps lock, space, return, delete. Everything is perfectly sized and intuitive, and the only reason you’ll need to switch to the stock keyboard - accessed by a single button press - is if you want to insert any special characters.
Without it I would never have moved to Android (I had experienced it beforehand on a friends handset) as I detest qwerty boards on a phone, and to me its priceless.
I got my handset from a 3 store and was expecting it to be locked to that network but this is not the case. The 'System version' detail in the 'About phone' section makes reference to 'retail' if that answers your question.
Thanks for the additional feedback on the EvenBetter keypad. You obviously think it's worth spending money on so I'll give it some serious consideration.
Free keyboard app Multiling will give you either qwert kb or t9. I use its qwert kb with Light theme which looks like iphone kb and reduce my mistyping when compared with other themes..
WinRazri,
Have you discovered something on built-in T9 keyboard? I got Swype preinstalled on my "I", and now i study to use it but anyway miss so much easy to use T9 i have had on my SonyEricsson LwW.
As an alternative T9 on Play market i found Smart Keyboard Pro, but you got to pay for it a little and dispite of all its advantages it's not a built-in app((
I do not find smartphones to be as efficient as they could be. I hate typing on glass for one. And keyboard devices get treated with horrid internals.
But my Blackberry Classic propels forward. I go to use my note 4 and cringe. It's rich in all areas but input, Can't use swipe unless you have predictive text on and it constantly "auto" corrects my words and misspell and swipe is better but still not ideal.
either way I'm getting to a point I don't even want a "smart phone" anymore. If you disable predictive text you lose ability to swype......pathetic! I said **** not duck! Or is not on. Etc I hate auto correct I hate samsung I hate qualcomm I hate google I hate lollipops I hate milk chocolate (android m) I hate society...............

If you want to say **** instead of duck save it to the keyboard's dictionary.
Try Swiftkey. The prediction is very accurate, the only times it misses for me is when I mess up, overshooting or sloppy swiping. It's a learning prediction engine, so any 'mistakes' you believe it makes will quickly be fixed. I have used it so much that Swiftkey can pretty much predict entire sentences, with variations. Most of the time I just type the starting word, and Swiftkey magically gives 3 suggestions for the next word, which one of them is the correct one 95% of the time.
For 'custom' words that get changed to 'duck', all you have to do is set spacebar completion mode to 'always insert a space' (In advanced options). Once that is on, if you find a word that Swiftkey autocorrects incorrectly, all you have to do is manually type the word twice, completing the words with the spacebar. Swiftkey will learn the word and swiping will correctly use that word from then on, and even use it in suggestions.
Also, predictive text is kind of required in order to use swiping, otherwise I am sure you would quickly realize a lot of words would be hard to type, such as 'apple'.
