Hi, i wanna know if there is a way to but from AT&T the MOTO X without logo on back and unlocked, i mean, a long while ago when i purchased my first Android phone it was a HTC G1 from T-Mobile and it was unlocked, i'm from Argentina, so i got it to use with my carrires, so i was wondering if this is possible, cause here, just today MOTO X was announced only in white and black.
You can unlock the AT&T model yourself and scrape off the AT&T logo apparently, but it does not come that way

i think the at&t ones all have the logo. but i've heard it is not so hard to remove, my friend removed it easily from a "woven white back" one that he got from moto maker (he got the normal white back, but with 32GB and different color accents). you should be able to unlock it with an unlock code.
i guess you could also wait for t-mobile's edition to get motomaker in a few months as that one wont have any logos etc on it.
Rogers Moto X is the exact same model as AT&T. XT1058. Zero carrier branding, assembled in China (higher build quality according to some, my and my buddies samples are flawless). Cost to unlock is $8 online. You can also officially unlock the bootloader if you wish. Unfortunately that voids your warranty. Won't be any cheaper then dev edition though.

on ebay you can buy puerto rico models. same as the XT1058 from canada, unlockabale, no carrier apps, no branding. i'm getting one tommorrow in fact (returned my XT1053 super expensive t-mobile version that has a scrape and some plastic defects).
the one i got from ebay was black $540 ish unlocked from a puerto rican carrier called "claro wireless" but now i've noticed some white ones for $480 even....
Guys, i think i didn't express myself too well, but the thing is that i want to customize it, i wanna have a color custom MOTO X but without the AT&T logo, and if i can unlock it after it'll be great, but about remove it screatching it off, i'm not so sure about that, don't wanna ruin the device, it isn't gonna come out custom moto maker carrier free?

Not at this point, no. MotoMaker is still exclusive to AT&T at this point, so if you're wanting a MotoMaker device, it's going to be locked to AT&T and have their logo on the back. You can unlock it, as others have noted, and you can also potentially scrap the logo off, but at least right now, what you are looking to do isn't possible.

Supposedly it does. And should also have LTE support like any other xt1058.
Guess I'll find out soon
The ones from Puerto Rico do not support most of T-Mobile's areas for 3G/4G meaning you will likely be on 2G if you have TMobile.
Feasible to flash radio from TMo version? I'm pretty convinced that bands received is purely software controlled.

well the puerto rico ones support the same bands as the at&t / rogers ones.
if you live in a refarmed area, so basically any t-mobile city that has LTE at this point it seems like it should be fine.
i used an unlocked razr m which only supports at&t bands on gsm on t-mobile in LA and i never fell off hspa.

Thanks! Was thinking that if motomaker exclusive finishes off from AT&T also other carrires gonna put the logos on the back so i guess i'm gonna buy off contract custom one and then unlocked it! How much does it cost to unlock it? Anyone knows? A webpage to do this?

Hi, I am from Argentina too and I bought a AT&T customized Moto X in ebay. My phone is in my father's hands(he is vacation in US). The Ebay seller told me that I can unlock it with many pages like unlockunit or cellunlocker. I contacted those pages and they told me that they can unlocked many AT&T Moto X:
Soy de Argentina y compre el Moto X customizado en Ebay. El equipo ya esta en manos de mi viejo en USA, lo enviaron al hotel donde se hospeda en las vacaciones. El vendedor me dijo que el equipo se libera facilmente con unlock unit o cellunlocker, contacte las paginas y me afirmaron esto. Si queres mas info mandame un pm y lo charlamos

Should be no more than $15 US to unlock - look for a thread from a guy who bought an AT&T Moto X and was using it on T-Mobile, there's at least 2 unlocking services mentioned in that thread. I got mine unlocked directly from AT&T.
And yes, presumably MotoMaker will eventually be available to all the other carriers. When though? Who knows. I'd imagine as we get closer to the holiday season, to try and boost their profits.

Oh, ok then, thanks. I was considering getting the DE today, but I think I'll wait a little bit to see if T-Mobile gets customization any time soon. I don't really like the white back, really worried it would get disgusting after a while, and my Sprint contract goes through next month anyway.

Will probably get the GSM DE and if they release moto maker to the other carriers within 30 days I'll probably return it for a moto maker .
Anyone know if there are any radio differences between the GSM DE and T-mobile versions?

Unfortunately the only rumors I've heard have said November for Moto Maker on other carriers, so that would be more than 30 days. That might be a good idea for me when my contract is up next month though.
I found an XT1053 on eBay with a spanish user manual. Bought it assuming the bootloader would be unlockable on the motorola site but I was wrong. https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/87215 lists the supported devices but "Latin America" doesn't get too specific.
Anyone know how we can determine which devices can be bootloader unlocked? I'd hate to go through this again. Maybe I should have just spent the extra $100 for a t-mobile version... I sure do like the lack of carrier branding on this device.
A better way to answer would be:
All but Verizon and AT&T.

Sadly, it's not that simple. This is not an AT&T (XT1058) or Verizon (XT1060) but an XT1053. I believe it's a Nextel Moto X. It has a spanish manual, defaulted to spanish when setting it up, has an unused SIM card that says Nextel.
It was not able to be bootloader unlocked on the motorola site.

Cool. I thought I saw it with a T-Mobile logo on the back somewhere online but I could certainly be mistaken. There are no carrier apps installed on the T-Mobile version?
I think I'll just resell this one and buy the tmo or dev edition new straight from Motorola. Don't want to mess with eBay over and over trying to get one whose bootloader can be unlocked. I thought it was "not AT&T or Verizon" too but now I see that's not the case and it may just be a north american-centric view of the situation...

double check, but I'm 99% sure. they weren't even selling it in stores or on their own website as far as I know. no physical branding or software I'm pretty sure.
I tried looking at Ebay, Kijiji, and Craigslist but I can't find it anywhere other than on the Motorola website which sells it for 600 USD and doesn't ship to Canada.
Can the XT1058 version be unlocked to work with AWS?

The XT1058 only supports LTE on the AWS band. It won't work with Wind or Mobilicity. Only the XT1058 is certified for sale in Canada so you'll need to import an XT1053 if you want one. As to where to get it from, well ebay, etc I suppose.
Now I'm stuck having to choose between:
the phone I always hoped someone would create
vs
the carrier that gives me everything for so little (Wind)
I hear ya, I'm on the Koodo SK plan so its pretty affordable. I'm still looking into flashing the XT1058 with the full XT1053 firmware. I've been told both that it will work and that it will brick my phone. If it does successfully flash I think its unlikely that wcdma on the AWS band will magically work but I'd sure like to verify for certain.
If you spend enough time looking I'd sure you'll find an XT1053 eventually.(its worth the wait!)
not too many people i'm guessing are buying the t-mobile edition for full cost or the DEV GSM edition which is more or less the same then selling on ebay.
your other route could be to buy a mexico nextel edition (which can't bootloader unlock it seems). some people on ebay are selling those and they are unlocked SIM, they are XT1053 though, but the updates would have to be whatever build that model uses.
i think they go for around $500

Just a note , I have the Rogers 1058 and I can flash the T-Mobile touched Roms. You can not however flash the fxz firmware through rsdlite, chances are you'll have a very expensive but small glass cutting board, you could always sell it to rob ford for cutting and snorting his daily dose of cocaine

I've had someone tell me they flashed the .fxz file with rsdlite and the phone still worked. They put the retail flash(used for tmobile, XT1053) into XT1058 hardware. However there is no report on if it happened to enable wcdma on the AWS band. I'm not going to try it with my daily use Moto X however they are getting cheaper by the day on craigslist so I may buy one to experiment with in the near future.

The XT1053 I bought through Motomaker works great for me on Koodo (aka Telus). Rogers and Bell also use LTE band 4, Rogers also uses band 17, so it should work on those networks as well. My recent speedtest results were: 5ms ping, 53Mbps down, 24Mbps up.

Hi there!
I am looking to get a Moto X to be used with any GSM carrier in the US and Europe.
(I don't want to root it)
Do I need to buy the Developer Edition or can I also get the No-Contract T-Mobile one (customizable via motomaker)?
Thanks in advance!
The T-mobile is unlocked and good to go, no need to buy the developer edition.

Are you absolutely sure about this? Do you know it for a fact, or have you just read it somewhere?
I contacted Motorola today, to verify that the t-mobile off-contract version indeed was sim-unlocked, but they replied that it WAS sim-locked, and also was carrying the t-mobile logo on the back.
I think it's really hard to figure out who to believe, since many are reporting that it comes sim-unlocked, but wouldn't Motorola be the one to know for sure?

I can't verify whether it's SIM locked or not but I have one in my hand and the T-Mobile XT1053 does not have any branding on it. There is no logo on it. There are no T-Mo apps on it either.
It's unlocked. Using it with prepaid at&t.

Thanks
I'm pretty sure the Verizon one is SIM locked. They might sell you an unlocked one, or let you unlock early. You are better off getting a European model motomaker phone.

Actually the Verizon Moto X is unlocked out of the box, as are all Verizon 4G LTE phones. I have bought at least 4 or 5 and used them on T-Mobile just to test. Even the iPhones are. One slight perk in the tyranny of Verizon
