I have had some pretty serious signal loss issues since updating to 4.2.2. With 4.1.2 I had superb signal but relatively poor camera. I had great signal and data speeds in my house, at work etc. Since I updated I have had nothing but issues with signal loss. Does anyone else have the same issues. But more importantly is there a solution. Was the radio updated in 4.2.2? Would it be possible to revert back to the original radio whilst keeping 4.2.2? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can install a different radio, I can't say what will be best for you as location and service provider affect that
The search option would have provided you with this info - for future ref

If you are unlocked and have custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) you can flash the radio separately, you can find them all here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
All flashable via recovery.

Confirmed. On darky's 8.0 (XXJPY) right now with speedmod K12M.
Mobile AP is unacceptably slow.
HSPA on the device itself is blazingly fast though.

As stated in OP I believe this is a problem with all Samsung based ROMs, stock or custom. Not sure if it's carrier related (I'm on AT&T but they should have no impact since I'm using an unlocked device that I didn't buy from them).
Hoping some folks can help shed some light on this. I'm still learning but not advanced enough to try to find the problem.
Nothing? Surely I am not the only one who feels like this is a big problem...

You are right. however i tried with JP6 and i got the full speed on my network provider with mobile AP. But in darky's and other roms, i noticed that problem too. that dosen't mean JP6 don't have this problem.
I'm just saying
This was stock JP6 that worked? What modem?

I'm amazed that this isn't a huge issue for people...anyone care to post a configuration that they know is working full speed? For me using CM isn't an option due to battery drain, and having to flash it on everytime I need decent wifi tethering is a huge pain.

Been using CyanogenMod for a while simply due to the fast and proper tethering, just disappointing that I have to give up good video playback and other features just to get decent tethering.
I'm wondering if this is a project that one of the devs could look into. I should have posted this in General comparatively no activity here in Q&A

I believe the latest version is Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 found in the Wildpuzzle thread among others.
and that radio works well with cyanogen roms???do you recomende to intall?
I can say it fixed my navi prob in cm 7 #17
Radio's are universal. Not confined to any particular ROM. The latest one is said to improve signal strength at the cost of battery life.
so if i dont have signal problems better stay with mine? how much difference of battery usage are we talking?
I personally have stuck to my old version (15.31), because, for me, Signal reception is fine, and, I dont use GPS at all, so, CM7's non functioning GPS is a Non-Issue for me.
The battery difference will be minimal. It's tough to put a figure here though. :/
how do u flash a new radio???
@3xeno... can i possibly help my prob of datanetwork??
Hello, I am new to this forum, I have a HTC Incredible S from Optus Australia, it is currently s-off and has khamsakamal48s' MIUI rom installed. I have also been having bad reception, poor battery and wifi range issues ever since I got this phone, so i thought it is time to change the radio. Which radio would be appropriate for my phone and how will I install it?
Install the radio in my sig, i was with optus and has recently unlocked...

i'm using the one with 19_m at the end ( see signature) it is the latest and seems to be ok, that's with Amaysim ( who use the optus network)
it can be installed 2 ways,
1) put pmg file in your sdk tools folder of PC and push via command prompt
2) put pmg file in root folder of sd card and boot to H-boot and it will find file and install itself
Note: make sure MD5 checksum is correct or else you can brick your phone.
files can be found in the "radio " topic in the moderation section
cheers

Well, I successfully installed it but it seems like it did minor differenceand nothhing to wifi range (have to be around 1.5 metre radius from the modem to get full bars and every 0.5 metres away from the modem takes out 1 bar, so max range of like 3.5 metres away from router :/ if you know any fix for that it would be appreciated) Thanks for the help so far

You cant use any kernel on any rom, because some kernels are made for specific roms/android versions/User Interfaces..
For Instance, Kernel 3.x works on CM10 (Not Released Publicly Yet)
Beastmode Kernel works on roms like Blackout, ViperVIVO, and MIUI..
l0st.prophet's kernel (XS ICS or something like that) works on most ICS Roms..
For you i suggest Beastmode. It works for the latest MIUI rom in dev section
If you flash the wrong kernel, u will notice problems like wifi not working etc... Just a flash a compatible kernel over it and it should get fixed.
The Kernel link is in Blackout Thread on the 2nd post. Just download it and flash in recovery :good:

Have you tried taking the back cover off and making sure the contacts are clean. And you have to make sure the cover is put back on properly. The radio and WiFi antenna are in the back cover.

yep, i've even tried that aluminium foil modification
I have had trouble with reception too, I did all that i could think of,
clean the contacts,
tried a new back cover,
used every radio under the sun (slight exaggeration)
the foil mod... etc
Whatever I did nothing seemed to help it.
But then one day i thought of electrical wires and thought if I could strip a wire back and just get a few strands of copper, it should work.... and IT DID!
now i have full bars where before I had little or none.
Moral of the story: When in doubt, use copper.

Hi guys, was hoping for a little help here. I'm sure there are many HTC ONE users here from the UK, I'd like to know which radios are working best here in the UK, I'm currently on 3 Network, but have been experiencing poor mobile Internet signals recently and slow down load speed. HOPING that users of the HTC ONE in the UK could provide links to the best UK radio
i've been using the Google Edition radio and they all seem to be the same for me on Three. which one are you currently using?
I'm using the new GE radio and I think it's the best yet, here is a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342544
Currently using 4A.17.3250.14_10.39.1150.04L on O2.
What akes the GE Radio so good?

I was having problems with the signal on my phone while making and receiving calls with the radio that came with the latest update so I first flashed the radio from the GE 4.3 rom and noticed an improvement and signal problems so I then did the full conversion to GE rom and firmware.

Yeah Nexus, same for me - Ive tried around 4 radios so far and to be honest, I dont notice a great change in reception or speed in any of them, at the minute im on Google Edition 4.3 4A.18.3263.15_10.38h.1157.04L, which I believe is the latest GE Radio, but had hellish problems with internet last night in a low reception area ( 1 bar ), mobile internet was on/off - on/off constantly , but could make phone calls fine, anyway guys thanks to all of you for your input and it may be worth posting links in this thread in future, just to keep us uk users running on the best possible radio/
thanks added to all who posted, cheers guys
@ maxal, may have to try a full GE Conversion , but love ARHD so much lol
Been on xda for a while, and have gone through a few phones, but have never really had the need to flash a radio. Saw there have been updated radios recently, and figured I'd give it a go. Curious which one I should use. I'm on AT&T, but don't know if I should flash the most recent ATT or Google Edition 4.3 radio from HERE. If it matters I'm running CM 10.2 (4.3.)
Thanks!

There's a collection of flashable radios here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419699
As for which one is best, you will have to experiment yourself; each user has different experiences with different radios, because it depends not only on your carrier but also location, etc.
Just make a note which version you're using now, and you can always go back if you choose.

I am aware, but I was looking from advice from an AT&T user as to which one to go with.
I've used both GE edition and AT&T's newest. I don't really see much of a difference, but my area has good lte coverage.

I've used both the most recent ATT and GE radios and I seem to find a little better reception out of the GE radios. It seems to give me about an extra bar at my house where reception isn't the greatest.
