Hello.
So I tried to update my Samsung GT-I9001 via KIES.
Everything went right as I should have, I started the android update, suddenly setup stopped at 3%, I waited for about 2 hours.
Nothing. So I unplugged the usb cable, phone stayed at the downloading mode screen.
I had to pull out the battery, when I tried to boot my phone I got an error sign, [Phone - Triangle with ! - PC ]
I tried doing the Volume up, Home button, power button combo. All I got was an error about RAMDUMP.
When I tried Volume up and power button, I got the same [ Phone - Triangle with ! - PC ] Sign.
All I can access is downloading mode which says Do not turn off target. By using volume down, power button.
I tried using the emergency recovery from Kies, And I got an error while doing so. I'm getting the error in both not working " recovery " mode and the downloading mode. Kies can't find my phone, when I plug it in it's connecting it, it's not showing my phone model name or anything, it's just saying searching. And I have my phone drivers in my PC, Both 32 and 64 bit.
I'm so desperate, I tried everything, nothing helps.
I even tried using Odin by flashing stock rom which I downloaded, It's just stuck on setup connection, even thought I terminated all Kies proccesses in the task manager.
Please help me.

1) ok , solutions for various problems are mentioned here
just take a look
Problem:- Odin gets Stuck on <ID:0/008> Set PIT file. or <ID:0/003> SetupConnection.. or <ID:0/007> Removed!
Note:
When using Odin to Flash, Open task manager and close these : Kies.exe , KiesTrayAgent.exe, and KiesPDLR.exe
IF your downloaded File (.tar, .zip, .md5 .rar ) is corrupted, Odin could get stuck too, so download from another source, if it happens repeatedly
Solution:-
First reboot PC after a power cord unplug and also reboot the Phone after a battery pull. Always use a Fresh Odin after any attempt to flash, than make sure you "Uncheck Repartition", If you had checked it or clicked Pit when you are not using one. You should also be running Odin as an Admin and ensure that KIES is not running when using Odin. Most of all, only use Samsung USB cable and not others as they may be incompatible and trying it out on a lap top or another PC ( when it happens repeatedly)
[4] Problem:- i9001 Odin 4.43 gets stuck on amss.mbn download..
Quote:
Solution:-
Flash i9001 CWM 6.0 together with AriesVE.ops in Odin 4.43
2) KIES recovery procedure is here download PDF file and follow instructions.
3) clearly you have a connection problem, when that happens you MUST reboot everything (PC&PHONE) to try again afresh, in addition I hope you are only using Odin 4.43 and not other versions. and use this guide to solve USB connection problems

Well this what I did.
Turned off my pc completely. When it turned back on I immediatelly ran task manager and disabled everything starting with K letter.
Ran Odin as admin, Turned off my phone, took the battery out, I waited for a half a hour, then I turned it on immediatelly on downloading mode, plugged the usb cable. Odin showed me that I plugged it in 0:[COM16], got all the files in the Odin, unchecked re-partition, pressed start.
And here's Odin's console:

well, its because you had ONLY flashed CWM recovery and booted your phone, what you need to do is download the (i9001) ICS or JellyBean ROM and the Gapps file , place it in your SD card, by using mounts and storage>usb storage in CWM ( you can now copy files from your PC to phone with usb cable connection) to flash, using CWM, read the WIKI (link given earlier) about it

Well I'll explain with more detail.
I installed rom manager, it said I need to install clockwork recovery. I didn't install it because only model they had was Galaxy S not the plus one.
So I googled up if there's a Galaxy S plus version of clockwork recovery. I found one, in a video, I downloaded it, installed from my stock recovery mode. Then it rebooted, now Im always stuck with clockwork recovery.

1) enter mounts and storage> USB storage

3) Flash that ROM ( this guide is in the WIKI link I gave you earlier)

So basically what I am doing right now, I downloaded a stock rom, I'm going to upload the zip file into sd card from a different phone and I'll try to install it when I instert sd card back to galaxy S plus. Will it work?
I don't even need those keys, My phone is completely on only recovery mode.
If I try to go on downloading mode, I get the same recovery mode.
If I'm trying to go to the recovery mode I'm getting the same recovery mode.
If I'm trying to just boot up my phone with power up key, I'm getting the same recovery mode.

Stock ROM's comes in .tar format, so you need to download an ICS ROM ( comes .zip format plus a Gapps ( Google applications) both can be downloaded from the developers post for that ROM, and yes you can do as you mentioned too. So long as you have recovery mode you can Flash .zip ROMs using CWM recovery.

Well that zip is not working, can you throw me a link of that rom you mentioned?
My old stock rom is still in my phone, but it doesn't boot first, clockwork recovery is the first who boots.
So I can't boot up my stock rom now.
I found a thread about this, they said to use NV flasher i think.
But i can't, it can't install from the zip or if it's supposed to be used from pc, my pc doesn't know my phone because it can't boot.
Edit: Installed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000828

Hello,

Thank you.
No problem, just don't rush.
Flashing CWM takes a minute, after that the phone will reboot.
To enter to Recovery mode press Volume Up + Power and keep it pressed for 2 seconds after Samsung logo will appear.
BTW: If you encounter boot loop don't panic, just clear cache, data and dalvik and everything will be ok. I fixed boot loop on my phone by doing so.

You are talking about ClockworkMod, yes?
It replace Samsung's Recovery, if You flash it with ODIN there is no way it wouldn't run. Just turn the phone as I wrote before: Vol UP + POWER, and keep them pressed for 2, 3 seconds after Samsung logo appears. This will take you to recovery mode, and by so to CWM.
I'm using "recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ariesve.tar", but the latest one is: "CWM6012-TOUCH-CM9-recovery". As far as I know for this moment.
There is the same also with Windows7 it won't flash.

I was trying to instal CM rom on Galaxy S using clockworkrecovery. Unfortunately, after installation and reboot, the phone gets stuck on CyanogenMod boot screen, then reboots again.
I understand I will need to get USB jig (no key combination, or usb cable trick worked).
Does that mean I will lose all my data on the internal SD card, like photos and TitanumBackup files?

You probably didn't install the CM exactly as described in the guide (opening post) for your device. Usually, it requires full wipe: wipe data/factory reset, wiping cache and wiping dalvik cache (in CWM recovery under "advanced"). Right after that you can install the CM zip, and after tge CM you should also install gapps for that CM version as apps for another android version won't be compatible. As you didn't write which CM you flash, I can not tell you which gapps do you need. If you can reach your CWM recovery now, just do as described and you will obtain the CM system.
You shouldn't lose your photos that way. If you want to install CM10.2 build, wait for next nightly as the nightlies between 24 and 26 Aug could format the internal SD, that is now sold and will be OK in the nightly build 27th and onwards.
After booting in your new CM system don't ever try to restore apps made with Titanium backup in another ROMs. It isn't compatible anymore with the CM. Install the apps simply again downloading them from play store.
If I could get into recovery mode, or even download mode, I wouldn't need USB jig (and I am still not even sure that will help).
The rom I was installing was cm-9.1.0-galaxysmtd.zip
I formatted system, boot, and I think everything else except for the sdcard.
Now the phone is stuck on CyanogenMod logo, which appears just after Galaxy S logo. Then it waits 10 seconds, and reboots again.
Is the phone and/or data on the sdcard gone?

I don't understand what do you mean here:
it is impossible to enter recovery or download mode. Maybe USB Jig will let me enter download mode.

Can you or can you not enter download mode with 3-buttons combo?

Try this:
remove the battery
keep power button pressed for about 30sec without battery
use 3-button combo for recovery mode and insert battery again while all three buttons are pressed (acrobatic thing)
Is recovery mode accessible again?
BTW you will not lose your data (photos) unless you format SD card. Let us see how to unbrick your device now as first. If you didn't backup your data, you must live with possible loss if it happens.
One more thing: please quote my text if you want me to answer (or anybody else) or reply the post directly on the button "reply" just beyond because otherwise we don't get any notification so it was pure luck that I've found your new post here by browsing....

The question is - when I recover the phone using Odin in download mode (I think I need to select 'repartitioning' option?), will it erase internal sdcard?

OK, then buy a jig for i9000 on eBay (it costs less than $2) and connect it according to the manual (I think the device must be turned off and after connecting it, you must wait for about 10sec until the download mode appears)
One important detail, but important nevertheless: is there still some juice in your battery? You must be sure of that, because maybe only battery is empty. Try to charge it by some friend who has the same telephone.
Let know later whats's up. Just have some patience now, mate.

Yes, battery is full. When I turn it on, I can see "Vibrant Samsung" logo, and shortly after "Galasy S syanogenmod" logo. Then it shuts down, and turns on again.

Wait a second, mate: Samsung Vibrant is SGH-T959 and we are talking about GT-i9000
Are you absolutely sure you have SGH-T959 and did you try to flash on it some build for GT-i9000 maybe? It is a non-excuse mistake and you will be lucky if anything revives your Samsung Vibrant now....

Your main concern seems to be with regards to data, now it all depends on which data, for instance flashing with or without partitioning, will only erase/change the Android folder on your SD card, so if your concern is with regards to app data, game data , sms, contacts, call log etc that will be gone by flashing.
Your camera images, music, video will not be touched and whatever other folders in your SD card will remain as is, if you had earlier CWM backup etc will be intact.
If you had debugging ON, and IF your phone can still power ON, you should try ADB push/pull to recover whatever you want first before flashing. meaning you can recover sms, phone contacts etc. so try powering ON your phone and connecting USB cable to PC while Odin3 is running on your PC. IF Odion3 detects, than you can try ADB method.

Sounds bad....
I think it is really the best you can do to try it with the jig now.
So you should get your device into the download mode. After that, we can say you're on safe side again. I would save now battery juice and wait until the jig is there.... (or make one yourself, it's easy and there are video tutorials how to do it)

Photos, music, stuff like that. I don't care for contacts. As for SMS, i have titanum backup on this sdcard, too.
I installed CWM through ODIN on my I9000 and booted into recovery mode through CWM and tried to flash two different ROMs but each time it hangs with the Semaphore flag and logo on the screen, after which it never boots and returns to the same screen. I can get it into download mode and I have reflashed a stock ROM and its back to normal.
Any guesses on how I can get around this? Thanks!

I've tried again, following the exact instructions. Install CWM, wipe the 3 data sources and install rom from sdcard. Within 2-3 seconds the phone reboots and arrives at the Semaphore screen. I've tried 3 times now and each time I have to reinstall a stock rom to get the phone alive again.
This depends on ROM you are flashing, you do not seem to tell us, what ROM you are flashing, you need to repeat the flashing in SD card , TWICE, and some may work only if ( after flashing) you go back into CWM recovery and flash again ..
Anyway this will help you solve problems

Sorry the rom is - pa_galaxysmtd-3.99-RC2-20130921
Unfortunately I cannot flash twice because I can't get into CWM once we hit the Semaphore screen. I can pull the battery and do volume down/home/power but it only takes me to downloading option, not recovery. So I'm unsure how I can flash twice without going to stock rom in between?

you can repeat flash, when you doing it the first time by just repeating the process and only rebooting after you have flashed it more than once and after that flash the gapps than reboot. or try for a stable version.

If your phone status like this
or your IMEI is 0000 than you need to use your efs backup to resolve like this
[6] Problem:- lost my IMEI or changed on upgrading to JB CM 10
Quote:
Solution:- Reason is you had Jumped from GB to JB (should be on ICS before JB), so now you need to
1) Download Root Explorer, or Xplore, or any root browser from Play Store and use it to
2) Search you internal SD card for sdcard/backup/efs or any other backup you have for your efs
3) Copy nv_data.bin, nv_data.bin.md5 paste them (means overwrite existing files) into /efs in your Internal Phone memory
4) Fix permissions by Click on efs folder and keep it pressed to open the menu and click on permissions and set them to rw_r_r_ ( Owner = read & write - Group = read only and Others = Read only), after this Save using menu and exit using menu
5) Power down phone and reboot into recovery and wipe cache before rebooting phone to get back your original IMEI
or
you can start from the beginning.. go back to GB 2.36 (use a JVU ROM + Root, upgrade to ICS CM 9 and than to CM10
Solution for i9000 on JB:-Try not to jump from Gingerbread to Jellybean, as all upgrades should be done progressively. meaning you need to be on a GB 2.3.6> than into ICS and finally into JB.

Depends on the Kernel you had flashed before on the ROM you had, The version you have is 3.0.0.5, written on the image your posted. Here you must know and indicate what is your phone model. wooh, Hold on! you flashed dbdata. rfs and hope it will work?, Step by step meant flash the gingerbread ROM with kernel as written above, the link is inside the upgrading or downgrading to gingerbread section.
Flashing a kernel alone would work too, but you are not sure what version of ROM, you really have on your phone.
IF you are positively sure you had a gingerbread ROM, than flash this to solve your problem

first mistake well, it seems you do not understand what you are doing. The Froyo ROM, you had initially will not work with a Gingerbread WD19 tegrak kernel. Rom's and kernels are version specific, you cannot change or switch them and hope to get it working
second mistake Before flashing a ROM, you need to factory reset as well as do the wipes in recovery first than only you should flash
Third mistake you cannot keep on flashing ROM's without finding out why and what caused your first problem.
So now
1) First power down remove Battery, Ext SD Card and SIM Card, press and hold power button for min after that insert battery
2) enter "recovery Mode" (use combo keys) and wipe everything repeat twice
3) Enter download mode
4) Start Odin version 1.70 , use 190 PIT file with EA 26 ROM ( download this first)
a) 190 Pit file must be selected as PIT ( repartition must be ticked in Odin3) and EA26 ROM selected as PDA
5) Flash it to get get phone rebooting,
a) after reboot, you have shut down phone enter recovery to do the wipes again before rebooting the phone
Now, you need to update to latest ROM, so you need to flash WD19 ROM, either just the ROM or the MOVI version that was 700 plus MB, Again remember, you need to do factory reset after every flash of ROM after that you can root by using the WD19 tegrak kernel

its because that file was meant for M110S ( for M190s you need to unpack a M190S ROM) , so since it solved your cache problem , now you flash the WD19 ROM, to get it back to its original state.

LOL, param.lfs is used for correcting boot animation problems, not what you had done, like flashing wrong kernels and not doing wipes or stl10 problems.
