Unlocking relocked bootloader fails - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had my bootloader unlocked, device was s-off, and super cid, then decided to sell my HTC one so I went back to s-on, restored my Telus Nandroid ( no RUU for Telus), relocked bootloader and then try to update it, it was then stuck so I pushed on power, went a little bit further, then stucked, power off and it completed. Now I decided to keep the device so I tried unlocking it again with HTC DEV, after flashing the unlock_code.bin it says it's successful but nothing happens on the phone. Any idea how to fix that?
Thanks

Anyone? I just can't think of anything else

Have you tried to push the file another one time?
However, now you're with 1.54 hboot or 1.44?

Use the revone file and go s-off, after do all you need and stay with s-off also if you will sell it

I tried to go s-off a few times but it always failed with error -6. I remember when I went s-off (when I got the device) I had to do like 15 times before it finally works, I guess I'll need to keep on trying. Thanks for the help

Sounds like you're on 1.54, double check!
If you are still on 1.44 use a Rom based on 4.1.2 for biggest chance of success.

So i just need the root to be gone and the bootloader to be locked as it was. How do i do that? Your help is greatly appreciated. I got a day to settle all this

I know that if you can get a Windows Vitual machine running on Mac you can do it.
Then when the RUU is running you can search for the ROM
Check it out. I know if you use the HTC one AIIO toolkit you can flash the extracted data to your device. Even the recovery.img from a stock RUU.
Let me know how you get on

Lock the bootloader with revone and flash a RUU (European or WWE), like this one http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...13323127-1031113105-release-310878-signedexe/, then run revone and remove tampered message (if you have that) in bootloder but i would keep S-Off if i we`re you forever.

Unfortunately it comes up with this, and then fails at updating a while later. Turns out my hboot is 1.54 so I can't use revone right?
I remember there is a method of tricking the ruu in to thinking the device is older.if I'm not mistaken it's the changing of the cid
But someone would need to verify that one

You probably need S-Off for that right? I'm on the 1.54 hboot and the s-off method only works on 1.44 I think.
The thing is, I just noticed factory reset did not remove root.. So i'll try to unroot it first and then run the update agaib.

[Q] How to downgrade HTC One Developer Edition (US) from firmware 1.29.1540.17 to 1.2

Hello,
I have been researching here to find a way to downgrade to a previous version of a firmware so that I can S-Off, and to no avail unsure how to do it myself using either use Moonshine or revone.
The reason I wish to do this is that I want to install Google Play edition and of course the necessary info to install it.

If I'm not mistaken the ROM firmware is irrelevant as to if you can root or not, or get-S-OFF. The most important factor for S-OFF is the bootloader version. I haven't seen any threads about getting S-OFF on bootloader 1.54.
Reboot to your bootloader (turn device off, hold volume down and turn device on). Check your HBOOT version there. If it says 1.54, then the only possible solution is to search for an official HTC RUU with a lower HBOOT version. However I do not know if this will actually work.

Don't really know what you mean by reflash? Returning to the newer HBOOT (1.54)?
If that's the case, once you're S-OFF you can update the HBOOT to 1.54 and S-OFF will still be there. There are some threads in the development section about upgrading the HBOOT. I used these myself without issues.
As for the official RUU, this will probably be a Google search. I haven't seen a thread around with these files.
Keep in mind that flashing an original RUU will result in loss of root and custom recovery. You will need to re-root after flashing the RUU and reflash a custom recovery.

I think so yes, but I'm not 100% sure. You may find the answer, or ask the question in the hboot update threads or s-off threads. I haven't flashed a RUU myself in years.

I was s-off with stock unrooted locked 2.24.401.1 firmware (ruu'ed by repair center)and tried to use revone to unlock again but it would fail, then I downgraded to hboot 1.44 (I could still do this because I was s-off already) but revone would still fail, then I decided to properly downgrade to 1.28(or was that 29).401.?? with an ruu and was able to use revone again to unlock my bootloader, so hboot is not the only factor for revone to be succesful...
downgrading hboot and other system partitions, except kernel rom radio and recovery, is not possible if you are not s-off already....

S-OFF is not needed for root or custom recovery. You do need an unlocked bootloader though. On other devices S-OFF was needed to flash radio's or kernels through recovery, but from what I have read the One can flash kernels in recovery without S-OFF

So I have gotten TWRP on there, however I have been unable to flash a previous firmware, to downgrade, getting the error message, Unable to open zip. My guess is that S-On is stopping this process even in a custom recovery. Is there a recommendation as to how I can achieve S-Off?
Also There is something I have been thinking about it, and if I were to follow the steps here, with execption of the flashing the RUU through fasboot, could I flash the RUU through TWRP instead?
[Edit] Could I install a custom ROM, S-Off through the ROM, then follow the steps in the link to flash the RUU?

I had the same problem. First time I tried I realized I forgot to relock my bootloader so I took care of that then the second time I tried it failed again with the same error you got. I've ruu before and never had this happen. Luckily my phone didn't get wiped.

If you are ever attempting to downgrade the firmware you n yet be S-Off. If you are S-Off then there is also no need to relock bootloader when running an RUU. Now, if you are attempting to go back to Locked without Tampered or Relocked then you must lock it before running RUU but I would honestly say that it is better to stay S-Off after doing it once because it is east to go back to S-Off and you don't need to be rooted to go back to S-Off and at the same time you will always be able to downgrade if need be if you want to unroot properly.

[Q] S-OFF help

So I am already rooted and have an unlocked bootloader. I did this a while ago. I flashed ARHD GPE and am on 4.3.
I wanted to upgrade to 4.4 but I needed to be s-off'd so I went to try to do so with revone but I got a error code = -1. I read online that I needed to be on 4.2.2 or earlier in order for revone to work so I flashed maximus hd 11. I tried s-off'ing again but kept getting error code = -6.
I am on HBOOT 1.44. I restored to 4.3 but I still want to upgrade to 4.4. How do I go about gaining s-off? Help would be great!
Also, I am running TWRP right now. If I want to switch to CWM to flash cyanogenmod, what's the procedure I need to follow?
Thanks for your time guys and a happy thanksgiving!

It's 2 am, for me, but here's the short version: buttons blinking = good.
Do keep holding power + volume down (under a bright light, no I am not kidding!!!). The phone will reboot (u may need to try more than once or twice, can take anywhere between 20 secs to a minute), u can let go of power button, but keep holding volume down, and it will get u to bootloader.

If you have exhausted the many combinations for firewater and you are receiving the whelps this sucks message then your another alternative is the paid S-OFF Sunshine.

Is that a guaranteed s-off? I wouldn't want to waste 25$
It isn't wasted. It does compatibility checks before it does anything. Most important thing is to have stock kernel for it to work

I don't know about guarantee but I would check with the site to see what they say.

It worked :victory:
Now I am getting no signal.
I changed the CID to 11111111 and flashed a Bell Mobility Nandroid Backup since I intend on using it on Bell... the damned thing doesn't get signal...
Try flashing a newer firmware?
[Guide] HTC ONE Hboot 1.57 Root S-Off Change CID Downgrade Hboot & OS
Search the above phrase on google. The first result should be from the site forums(dot)gsmhosting(com) with the title same as search.
I am a new user so I can't post external links.
I used that guide to achieve S-Off on my HTC One M7 UL with Hboot v. 1.57.
I had to run the final firewater commands several times before firewater launched finally. Enough tries to make me memorize those commands so I stopped copying and pasting them and instead actually typing them. But it worked for me.
I hope it helps.

Thank you but, I did achieve S-OFF already without downgrading and firewater using Sunshine. My problem now is not getting signal only Emergency Calls

Have you checked settings to see what network mode is checked? Check each one separately to see which one gives the best results. Auto generally works best! Did you have a GSM or CDMA phone?
