[Q] Pictures / avatars in phonebook, sms. - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Here is the thing.
The very 1st time i was setting up my XSP i was able to make my picture for a contact square. Not it is only possible to make dreaded rectangular that centers to fill the square frame.
I think i was using 1.257 the first time and no google contacts account. I am using the google account and latest soft plus i installed this. Is there someone who can help me with identifying the culprit? I really liked my square avatar...:crying:
Or perhaps someone can confirm that the selection frame for cropping phonebook picture is indeed square in the stock phonebook app?

Dialer with large Contacts Photo

Does anyone know of a dialer which displays a larger contacts photo. The size of photo in the standard T-Mobile dialer is tiny. Also the pop up notification window on an incoming call doesn't show any photo. A large picture of the caller would be great for screening calls. I used to use a modded Eten dialer on my Wizard which did have a slightly larger picture but afaik it is WM5 and does not support video calling.
Bump
Are there any Kaiser compatible dialers which display a larger contacts photo?
I used to use this and it worked nicely:

It also had good profile management, blocking features etc.
I can't be bothered to install it now that the HTC Home has contact pictures on it though...
I have used "Slide 2 Unlock" on mine which is available on this forum. There is a registry setting on this that will allow you to have a full screen picture of the incoming call contact as a background with the incoming phone number providing you have a photo for the caller stored. It works very well and it's free!
I'm now using "Inesoft Address Book" and I'm quite happy about it.

Try it and I'm sure you'll like it

I installed this last night (v0.86) and it is working brilliantly. What with S2U2, PocketCM, PocketCM keyboard, HTC Album I feel like a little Apple fan boy. I didn't start out to clone the iPhone look&feel I just wanted a responsive, intuitive, user friendly interface for commonly used features.
I guess I didn't either but it's hard not to like some of these iphone type apps. It's a bit like having the best of both worlds, but what I will say is that I tried the iphone in the o2 shop and the screen is something else!
Does it identify contacts in your SIM? Photo COntacts pro didn't that's why I stopped using it. Also can you use alternate dialerpads cause the one they show is ugly. Also what shows when someone without a picture is calling? Thanks for your help and advice.
Does somebody know what registry settings belongs to make larger contact photo appear on incoming calls? I don't want to use a multi purpose program for it.
Thx

[Q] MMS picture orientation

Hi All,
Not sure if this was ever brought up in this forum ?
When I attach a picture to a MMS, the picture will always be display horizontally.
So even if I take a picture vertically, inside the MMS the orientation will be wrong.
But the picture will display with the right orientation in the Gallery.
It's not that big of a deal, but it's annoying to have to flip your phone every time you receive a MMS...
So do you guys know if there is a way to fix that ?
I tried replacing the Samsung Stock Messaging apk with the Vanilla one from Google, but it didn't fix it.
Any other ideas ?
Thanks!
i have the same problem...it's really annoying when uploading to fb and then having to go into fb to rotate it
My current work around for that is to use a third-party Camera App (like Vignette) and use it when I select Attach/Capture Picture in the MMS app.
But if I have a vertical picture that's already in my gallery I can't find a way to attach it with the proper orientation.
Glad I am not the only one having that issue.

[Q] Contact Question

Hey Guys.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.
-I touch phone icon
-start typing contact name
-no other numbers come up. just the home number.
--if i goto the actual contact tab on the upper right side
--search for same name
--multiple choices are available.
i find this is only on certain contacts. there is only a hand full out of all my contacts that this happens to. I checked in the contact profile to see if there is something that i clicked but nothing stands out.
These contact were brought in from Nitro Touchdown exchange software which i am running on the phone.
Thanks for your time and knowledge.
Bogdan.

[Q] How to add contact photo?

Hi guys! I need your help.
I'm using samsung i9003 unit.
How can i add photos on my contact? I already do some research on how to add photos on my contacts but it didn't work..
Any apps or tweaks that can help? w/o sync in facebook or google..
Just like entering person name and number then take a picture of that person then save or add photos from picture gallery.
I appreciate all the help!
Thanks!
When you are adding/editing contact you can see near fields "Name", "Surname" shape of the head with sign '+'. just click it and select 'Album' or 'Make photo'. That's all

Firefox set image as to Contacts. Bug, or not smart enough?

So earlier today I was attempting to grab an online photo of someone to associate with a contact so I don't accidentally reject the call (I tend to just let people I don't know go to voice mail). So I looked up the number with Firefox/duckduckgo, found the photo I wanted, did a press/hold and the menu pops up. Select 'Set image as' and then selected Contacts.
Contacts then crashes (I tried it twice, with the same result, except the second time it asked to close app or send feedback, vs restart app and send feedback.)
So is this a bug? Or is it me thinking the phone should be smarter than that? I mean is Contacts thinking I'm opening it AS a Contact? And since all it sees is a jpg, it crashes?
This seems like it'd be good functionality. now I wonder if Bixby would look up a photo and put it into a contact for me....
