[Q] Purple tint? - Moto X Q&A

Is anyone experiencing a really purple tint to greys at low brightnesses? I think it's a fairly common problem with AMOLED screens but I was hoping it wouldn't be so prevalent.

Yes that is normal. I don't think it is a problem though. I think they do it on purpose so that you can see the greys better. I'm not sure but either way it doesn't bother me.

Backlight Bleeding

Sorry if this topic has been posted already, but is anyone else experiencing back light bleed. It's most noticeable with high brightness and black background. I wouldn't complain about something like this normally but it's quite noticeable on mine.

Lets see some picture examples?
It's IPS, they all have it, if you don't want bleed then buy an OLED screen. Why do you think they never turn the screen to full brightness at shows?

Purpleish Hue Capacitive Buttons?

I have just got yet another exchanged HTC One. This time around it came with purple whiteish capacitive Buttons.
I know this isn't normal because I've got another One right beside me with white buttons.
Anyhow, does anyone else have this problem too? Did you decide to sacrifice it (live with it) or send it back in?
Thanks

Mine are purple whiteish too. I quite like it tbh.

My last one had a pinkish hue and was the main reason I had it replaced.

Mine have a slight purplish hue...looks normal to me. Probably just a variation in versions....doesn't bother me at all.
Mine definitely have purple hue, hadn't even noticed this until now! Doesn't bother me though.
purple hue is cool!
You changed device because of the hue of the buttons?
Did you have any trouble at the point of sale getting them to do it?

Mine also has a slight purple tinge to it, but I quite like it as the buttons are not too bright then
At least you guys have a purple or pink hue to the capacitive lights - mine's don't light up at all! Need to figure out if I've got a fault or not. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

It only lights up in the dark. Try it in a dark room, see if they light up.

I assume this was to me.
It wasn't the only reason but it was the main reason. Also had a couple of slight build quality issues. Had no problems exchanging it as I was within the 28 days and the phone was faulty because of these issues. If the buttons had been a full on colour rather than just a very slight tint, I'd not have been bothered, but as it was it just made it look a dirty white rather than a clean white.
Mine is also purple so by the looks of it, it's very normal.

Camera issue?

I'm experiencing purple flares around my camera, especially during the night
Is this considered to be a build quality issue?

[Q] Camera discolouration in low light

Seeing some blue streaks on my camera in low light situations. Cleaning the overlying glass doesn't help, no idea what's causing it. It wasn't there when I got the phone.
Anyone having a similar issue?

[Q] 4.3 Update camera fix

Hey guys. I have the VZW HTC One and was curious if any of you have seen the purple hazing camera issue fixed with this update. HTC said the update would remedy the problem. Can anyone verify the fix?
I can verify that the problem persists. HOWEVER, it has been slightly reduced. I can take pictures now on the dark and it is possible to take better pictures. It changes ISO quickly to reduce the purple tint.
The main update wasn't included with the ota yet

Still appears to be a hardware issue (even though it has been reduced, it still is there for some), I would return to your carrier and ask for a new one.

I don't see a difference. My **** is still purple.

What?
I can confirm that problem is still present with the update although it's been reduced as others are saying.
Also, what's this about the main update wasn't included with the OTA?
It seems to be a firmware issue. I did not have any purple problems until I updated the firmware. Now I have them. I've heard that downgrading to an older firmware fixes it for people like myself who didn't have it before but now have it. My boss had the issue(GSM version), updated his firmware, and no longer has it. Seems the fix for it causes it for some people.

Purple tint is still there, pretty sure it has been confirmed as a hardware issue.

I doubt it as it's there on devices that didn't have it prior to the update now.
Running flex 2.03 and my camera seems to be fine, no purple haze..

I have to agree with you. I'm one who never had the purple problem untill the 4.3 update. Also Flash set to auto doesn't seem to flash when it should be.
Might try the firmware downgrade next weekend.
Paul
definately a hardware issue, although i'd like to know what caused it.
never had the problem until a few weeks ago, then all i got is purple tint in my photos in low light.
this phone used to take the best photos in low light compared to other phones on the market, now its just crap.
latest 4.3 roms dont fix it either.

Looks like it's getting too hot which somehow shows up in the pictures. Bad units for sure.
Purple haze came with 4.3
My HTC One has never had a purple haze up until I updated last week to 4.3. It doesn't seem possible that this is a hardware issue when mine was perfect until the software update. That doesn't make any sense.

I don't think it's a hardware issue directly. It's a post-processing issue. That points to firmware more than anything to me. If I had to guess, I'd say that they sourced the camera hardware to multiple vendors. As a result, the different vendors have slightly different sensitivities. So the post-processing that works fine from Vendor A-G may cause the purple issue on Vendor H and I. The firmware update that fixes it for Vendor I breaks it for Vendor E. It's a balance of slightly different hardware using the same firmware.

Agreed, mine is not fixed but when I updated to 4.3 without firmware it was terrible, now with the newest firmware almost perfect, though still a slight amount of purple tint. Good enough for me to keep it.
