Hey guys. I have the VZW HTC One and was curious if any of you have seen the purple hazing camera issue fixed with this update. HTC said the update would remedy the problem. Can anyone verify the fix?
I can verify that the problem persists. HOWEVER, it has been slightly reduced. I can take pictures now on the dark and it is possible to take better pictures. It changes ISO quickly to reduce the purple tint.
The main update wasn't included with the ota yet

Still appears to be a hardware issue (even though it has been reduced, it still is there for some), I would return to your carrier and ask for a new one.

What?
I can confirm that problem is still present with the update although it's been reduced as others are saying.
Also, what's this about the main update wasn't included with the OTA?
It seems to be a firmware issue. I did not have any purple problems until I updated the firmware. Now I have them. I've heard that downgrading to an older firmware fixes it for people like myself who didn't have it before but now have it. My boss had the issue(GSM version), updated his firmware, and no longer has it. Seems the fix for it causes it for some people.

I doubt it as it's there on devices that didn't have it prior to the update now.
Running flex 2.03 and my camera seems to be fine, no purple haze..

I have to agree with you. I'm one who never had the purple problem untill the 4.3 update. Also Flash set to auto doesn't seem to flash when it should be.
Might try the firmware downgrade next weekend.

definately a hardware issue, although i'd like to know what caused it.
never had the problem until a few weeks ago, then all i got is purple tint in my photos in low light.
this phone used to take the best photos in low light compared to other phones on the market, now its just crap.
latest 4.3 roms dont fix it either.

Looks like it's getting too hot which somehow shows up in the pictures. Bad units for sure.
Purple haze came with 4.3
My HTC One has never had a purple haze up until I updated last week to 4.3. It doesn't seem possible that this is a hardware issue when mine was perfect until the software update. That doesn't make any sense.

I don't think it's a hardware issue directly. It's a post-processing issue. That points to firmware more than anything to me. If I had to guess, I'd say that they sourced the camera hardware to multiple vendors. As a result, the different vendors have slightly different sensitivities. So the post-processing that works fine from Vendor A-G may cause the purple issue on Vendor H and I. The firmware update that fixes it for Vendor I breaks it for Vendor E. It's a balance of slightly different hardware using the same firmware.

Agreed, mine is not fixed but when I updated to 4.3 without firmware it was terrible, now with the newest firmware almost perfect, though still a slight amount of purple tint. Good enough for me to keep it.

hello everyone. had the one for 3 weeks now. I just noticed a very small blue dot almost at the center of my screen when taking pics or recording videos. I could only see it on camera mode though. on home screen it does not appear. ran dead pixel test and did not find anything. I been searching forums and found nothing similiar . I'm debating on returning it or is there a fix for this. I'm completely stock, unrooted for now.
Is it in your photos?
Yes. I just tried it.

At this stage, you likely won't get a refurb.
That said, it looks like your camera actually has a dead sensor. Not sure what, if anything, you can do to try to clear it up short of taking in the phone.
It obviously isn't the screen.
Ya, I am no genius on this subject by no means but that pixel would be considered stuck instead of a dead pixel. If it is on the software end of things then going through the various colorize settings in that particular camera mode and taking snapshots may release it. Maybe even a factory reset may release it back to normal.
Then again it may be a warning sign that that pixel is about to go dead too I guess. I really hope you get this cleared up for sure and I for one would be very curious as to just what is going on here. Thanks.
Edit: referring to the camera may have a dead sensor as said above, I would have thought that it would have shown that way with recording too. Maybe not though...
Thanks guys I'll try to take it back as soon as I can

My HTC One has the exact same issue but it's on the very edge of the screen so much less offensive then where yours is.
It's a hot pixel on the camera sensor that only shows up when the ISO is cranked up. For DSLR's, software (at the factory or even on camera) is used to "map out" these hot pixels. Perhaps we have something similar on our phones that can be accessed.. have you tried a hard reset?
Blue dot
Yeah I recently purchased mine but unlocked and I have the same problem, seems to happen when it is on high ISO. I was reading into the hot pixel thing which happens in other cameras, but they say they go away but can persist. I am debating to wait or exchange it, but these phones are back-ordered :/
Considering that your hot pixel is near the center of the screen, I would consider exchanging it (if possible). While it's true that they can sometimes go away on their own, my experience (with DSLR's at least) has led me to not rely on this happening (I have a few hot pixels on my DSLR that have appeared and NOT gone away in the last few years).
I have a similar problem I have a little green dot on the corner of my screen

Hi guys
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a light leak in the bottom right corner of my HTC One. I'm sure it's leaking from near the Home button key. It seems as if the adhesive has come of or something, because it didn't happen since the beginning. It's visible only when the capacitive keys light up and the background in dark. The leak sprays on the screen for almost an inch!
I'm wondering how serious is this problem? What should I do?
I've attached a couple of pictures, they're not the best ones but thats what I could do with an iPhone 4.

For what it's worth, I came across an app - Soft Buttons Light that permanently enables or disables the soft key lights; It did the trick for me. The best part is, it doesn't require root.

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. Just installed a rooted stock ROM and a different app (Capacitive Buttons) to disable my button lights. Works just fine now.
The reason I would've preferred an app that doesn't require root is that I enjoy receiving OTA updates, so initially I didn't want to root. But all is well now, so whatever

I was just about to post a new thread, but saw this one.
Anyway, I also have this light leakage issue. It's coming from the bottom right corner of the screen where the screen meets the speaker cover. Kinda difficult to describe, but the fact that I spotted it and am now aware of it bugs me.
I'm way past my 14 days, so the only option is probably to send it to HTC.

You can do that. Just make sure the replacement you get doesn't have any other major flaw like the camera purple tint

If your camera is fine, I would suggest that you don't send in your phone for repairs. You can either learn to live with it or disable them completely. Ending up with a bad camera or getting stuck in a repair circle is worse!

Screen bleed issues
Having read some of the comments and issues with the M7 HTC One, please make use of these suggestions, if you
have a problem like i have,
1. The bleed issues and severity of these issues is 'handset specific' BUT is know by HTC and most retailers in the UK
(Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and all the UK carriers, ie, EE shops, etc).
2. I had this issue & can be resolved (in some or all instances by flashing a halo, or light Rom) This however is not ideal
for several reasons and obviously is not a fix as it invalidates your warranty if rooted and returned to the manufacturer or
retailer.
TAKE ACTION.
1. Return your handset and ask for a replacement, yes, they nearly all have some problems but after 30 mins of sifting through
a dozen or so handsets i found one that was "slightly better" than my first handset but not ideal.
2. Buy a Samsung, Sony or any other device if this matter is not resolved at, point of sale...
It's not the best BUT you do have rights and a choice, great handset, but not for everyone !!!!

Well, some sort of workaround... Not so much a fix.
There's an app called ScreenAdjuster from the play store which allows you to adjust colors a bit, turn blue up a bit until you like the result (to about 6 or 7 I believe).
so it is a software problem not a hardware problem and there is hope for future fix by sony?

Seems to be a software issue, Mine turn yellow after the first update. Screen adjuster is a workaround in the mean time. My nexus had the same issue. Its more of a colour temperature thing. Most people seem to like a cooler look to their screen.
should i go for replacement under doa without fear of getting more defected one
or wait for update on issue?

I have this problem also. I call to sony center they already confirm is a hardware issue and I requested to change, by monday they will change for me. My opinion you better change a new device from them because the yellow hue really make you feel angry that you pay so much and you still getting this problem.
Even I had talk with customer center dey admitted it as hardware issue and guaranteed me replaced phone won't.have it.but dey stated after I get changed phone.I.wnt be able to doa it in case of.prob is.it.true?

This is a very known hardware issue, not related to the 4.3 update. Send your phone to repair under warranty. They will replace your camera chip with an improved one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317507
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465651
I didn't have the issue until I decided to downgrade from the first kitkat ota back to original stock, then back up to 3.05.651.6 through ota.
Any ideas that would help me regain my original camera functionality, or did I make that impossible through my actions?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Sorry, it's been confirmed that the issue is hardware related. The downgrading probably didn't cause it, but made you aware of it.
The sensor actually gets damaged over time. Some people traded in their ones, made sure there was no tint, but still ended up getting it anyway.
Moral of the story: HTC sucks for selling faulty cameras.
PS: I sent my phone in for warranty a couple months ago, after having the purple tint for a year, that seems to have permanently fixed it.
I may just do that then. Thanks man. ^^
