Okay so i looked around and found out what the problem is, thanks to this:
http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-sony-xperia-z-users-report-dust-particles-camera-lens
The nightmare started yesterday and i have no clue what to do and since i live in Egypt id rather not take the device to the service as we only got a reseller here and they are mostly incompetent and could ruin the water proofing, did anyone manage to fix this on his own?
I also had what I thought was dust particles, but it can't be because the "particles" was so sharp and in focus. The camera cannot focus at so close distances, so it has to be hardware failure. The camera was replaced.

Just noticed a piece of dust or something in the exact center of the camera lens. I was at first annoyed, but it honestly did not seem to effect any pictures i took.
Just curious if anyone has seen this happening. Again, no real picture issue so not worth sending back or doing the heat press in my opinion.

I have this too, but it is impacting my pictures. Is there a way to remove the outer lens in order to clean out the debris?
i would call HTC and see if it qualifies for a warranty repair, you may have other dust getting in as well.
Ok I've been everywhere and tried everything short of breaking out the torx. I'm not under warranty anymore, and of course it didn't start getting dusty until after it ran out.
if i take the back cover off and blow compressed air in the slot by the main camera it clears most of it out but it's all back within days. i'm only getting dust in the front camera area, none in the screen itself that I've found [I've taken it out in direct sun with no screen protector and scrutinized it].
I'm wondering if maybe the screws on the motherboard are loose or something creating a gap, I've dropped it a fair share of times. I can find teardowns for replacing the screen but nothing specific on the front camera, and being a nervous nelly i want all the info i can get my greedy hands on. I *think* i know where the parts are but cant find anything specifically saying "THIS IS THE CAMERA NEWB". I'm perfectly willing to take the case apart and the board out but i don't want to touch the glass, i'd probably get more dust in than out.
So to summarize my request =p
1. Anyone know of camera specific teardowns?
2. Anyone have this problem themselves and fix it?
3. If it does involve taking the glass off would it be worth it to pay someone to fix it, or is it more cost effective to just upgrade?
Hey, lucky you I just cleaned it myself. At the price of almost screwing up my incs forever. Look up YouTube on dismantling the incredible s, take it all apart, clean it from behind and fix it back. Had some loose connection when I was fixing it back so my screen couldnt light. Now its as good as new. Advice that if you try, be very very precise and careful. Good luck!
Screen is seperated from camera, don't worry about getting dust in there. Use the replacing screen video, sufficient information for you to tear it up. No video guides to fixing it back unfortunately, so just download the video, find a player with the reverse play function and do as according(nahh I'm just kidding)
You don't need to be a technician to do this. No brains required. I don't have any. Have fun!

I "had" dust over front camera too!!!
I didn't mind it; I'm talking in paste tense because my phone should be now in HTC's repair centre in Como with:
-dust under the screen ( top left area)
-but mostly because part of the digitizer is gone: a vertical row of about 1cm on the right...
So I think it's a common problem, pay attention on the screen...
Hello,
A few days ago I noticed a black spot on all my pictures. I feared the worst and thought I had a faulty camera sensor. But then the black spot started to move when I shook my phone....
Doing some research seems to confirm it's dust under my lens...
Did anyone else get the same problem?
I didn't take the extended warranty from Docomo. So I suppose I am screwed?
I doubt I can take the phone apart to clean it myself without completely ruining the waterproof aspect of it?
I think the phone has a 2 year warranty so you don't need the extended warranty to claim.
Phil
Yeah I have that issue, but my dust seems to be a bit harder to move. A bit surprised by it. Also initially thought it was a sensor issue, but then it disappeared after a couple of weeks and got replaced by two much smaller dots. A bit weird but I'm not too fussed about it.
Attached some shots before the dust, during the dust, and after the dust.

Yes was about to say that it will not be dirt, indeed dust is more obvious
Just for everyone's info:
I brought the phone back to the docomo shop, they said they would open it up and clean it.
If the insides of the case would have been bent (from sitting on it or dropping it) and that would have caused the dust to enter, they would have charged me 5000 JPY (around 50 USD) to repair it. Apparently that wasn't the case.
So they cleaned my lens, and they still put a new case on my phone. Which is great, cause my case was chipped. They also renewed my screen or at least the sony protectors on it, because all microscratches are gone! All for the exact cost of free.
All in all, I got pretty lucky. Just had to live with an LG Optimus LTE for 1 week, damn torture if you come from the xperia z

Sigh...
I can resist looking at hot girls, but if they are too hot, I will have to give in eventually. Therefor I'm hot girl resistant and not hot girl proof.
Maybe you will understand it this way. Being resistant to something doesn't mean that you're immune to it.
Hi techies,
My pixel 4XL has recently had a water accident, everything works perfectly now except the rear camera is cloudy and cant focus properly. I opened the phone and wiped the lens with a good amount of robbing alcohol, its even worse now. So what should i do? Do i have to open the entire camera module and wash the tiny lenses and the sensor or what? I really wanna repair it myself instead of buying a new sensor because it takes so long for me to arrive.
Thank you,
Pixel 4 XL is IP68 water resistant (up to 1.5m for 30 mins).
Has it been opened before?
If you used isopropyl alcohol, then there should be no problem, but it should be dried for a long time after such an operation.
Well, I am not an expert on cameras but the cause of your blurry photos may be caused by:
-The motor of the camera don't work, so the lens can't move and as a consequence don't focus
-there is water inside the lens or in the sensor (which can't be seen unless the camera is disassembled.
If you have water inside, as it manage to get in it may be a way for get it out. I would suggest you to take the camera module and heat it up with a hairdryer so water can evaporate and get out. But don't heat it up too much do, it could damage the sensor.
However as you said you used alcohol, it leaves some residues which if is the case, with this method it won't be fixed.
If this doesn't help you would then I think you would need to disassemble the camera. Iwill leave a link to a video off a guy who disassemble an Iphone camera. It isn't the same, but it's similar Here
Also are you sure there isn't any software related causes?
Good luck

Thank you for the reply,
I'm sure the problem is the water+dirt or residue inside. Ik the water has been gone since then and alcohol is evaporated but there must be some dirt sitting in there. This phone has never had a force to get some component cracked inside.
As for the software thing, i'd say i dont think so, what software related issue it might be? Since the front facing cam works just fine, the cache has been deleted, i even downloaded open camera to take more control over the sensor manually. Its just foggy. Like some filter has been applied to it.

Idk if it was, since i bought it in mint condition second handed. The alcohol i used was 96% Ethanol, not the same as the isopropyl, but i dont think of a major difference, but probably some dust has gone there underneath the lens.

Do not use ethanol for electronics, because you can dissolve many components. Besides, ethanol contains water, which harms electronics. That's why isopropyl alcohol is used, because it has much lower dissolving properties, and if it is pure (99.99%) it absorbs water and causes it to evaporate faster from the cleaned items.

I have marked the centric area that diffuses the light. It could be a dried-up blob of whatever you washed the lens with. The liquid could easily penetrate the camera and get under the lens or even onto the matrix if the seals were not tight.

Yes most probably that's the case. So wha's your suggestion for me? Tear the lens down, wash the components inside it with soap and water, dry it out and reassemble? Or what to do? Im kinda disappointed now. Been shaking and tapping the lens since yesterday with no success lol.
If you still want to use this model, I advise you to replace the camera with a new one, or recovered, so that they are original.
I do not ignore your self-denial and other talents, but I think that you will not fix the camera yourself.

Ok then i have to order a camera lens then, are those sub 10 buck lenses from Aliexpress oem parts? The reviews are excellent but the prices are syspicious. Plus, i almost forgot to mention something. There werw two sponge/rubber curcles (whatever the material) arround the camera lenses, which locate between the cameras and the outer glass. (i marked them) when cleaning, they chopped off. Any chances this be a reason the light doesnt diffuse the right way?
It is for this purpose that the cover glasses are blackened or coated with other coatings so that there is no side light. Gaskets also serve this purpose. The tube of cameras and scopes has been made of blackened material since the oldest times.

So does it affect picture quality?
Plus, I managed to diassemble the camera module, soaked it in alcohol and dried it up, its even more blury now lol
Multiple sites have reported on this. Just curious if anyone here has had it happen. I've had my P7 since launch, and looking closely at the camera glass, it all looks good. I live in the south, and this seems to have just started, and some are saying it the weather change, or maybe a new batch that went out with a defect.
Pixel 7’s Camera Glass Keeps Breaking
It took a few months before we got to this point, but Google’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro may have found their first big issue. A growing number of people are experiencing a spontaneous break in the glass that covers their cameras. The first reports of this date back to early December and have...

Apparently that's a problem and Google is aware of it. Don't know what the solution might be.
Looking at multiple photos of the glass being broken really is confusing. They are breaking in the middle of the camera lens. If it was stress breaking it from heat change I would think it would crack around the edge by the frame, not directly over the lens. It almost looks like a bad batch that put the camera lenses too close to the glass somehow. Just my guess.

Yeah, it's something in the manufacturing process that screwed up it seems. A big problem though is that even though they will gladly replace the device it will be a refurb and that seems unfair after paying for a new phone. But we'll see what they do. I can't see them sending out new devices though.
I have a case...problem solved...
Just got mine. So no issues yet with the glass
It's just a coincidence that allot of people are rough with there phones and then complain when the glass breaks to try get a refund, glass just will not spontaneously shatter like.
