Im able to hook up my wireless keyboard and mouse using my OTG cable but whenever I plug in my 4GB flash drive it doesn't read it. I want it to work so I can make all of my backups on there but even TWRP wont recognize it and I've tried the newest TWRP and the 2.5 version. I saw a video where wwjoshdew used his and it worked so I wonder what I may be doing wrong? I've formatted the drive to all of the different formats and still no luck.
Download Stickmount from market.

I'm not sure that's going to help with the issue of it not mounting in twrp.

Have you come across a fix for this? I had heard that in order to use a USB OTG you need TWRP 2.5 but not even on there does it work.
I'm having the sanme problems. No usb otg. I'm also thinking the new hboot is what fixes fastboot but nobody has confirmed.
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4
I don't think twrp supports usb otg on our device. Another note is android doesn't support ntsf by default it's usually added by devs to the kernel not sure if it's like that now with 4.3 but that's how it was before

I was using usb-otg before i updated & or flashed 4.3 on twrp 2.5.0. I haven't gotten any confirmation, but i don't think usb-otg is supported at this time on 4.3. I've tried twrp, cwkm, philztouch...All with no succes. I've been backing up with twrp & keeping a copy on my desktop(just in case)

Hey guys I got a question , I have a friend that rooted his droid 3, but when the update came out for it he went along and did it. Now the phone says its rooted but the computer won't read it. How do you fix this ?

He meant system version, not android version.
Anyway, assuming you're on 5.6.890, you can just reroot using 1clickroot
5.6.890.xt862 , so even though it says its rooted , just root it again ?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
It could be a root issue but I would first ceck device manager on windows, try latest drivers, if that does now work go into recovery and turn on usb connection (I think its under advanced).

The main problem he's having is that the computer won't detect his phone.... I installed the drivers from Motorola and it didn't work....
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
Did you/he try the recovery thing? If all else fails then he could have to re flash the sys.

Sorry I did not see the post above me , Imma give that a try and see what happens

The 5.6.890 system update for some reason broke any no-name brand micro-USB cables from working with the Droid 3. Use the supplied one or buy one from Verizon or Motorola.

Same problem as the OP, tried all of the above. If I input the ADB DEVICES command, it output :
87897897897987 Offline
Can't get it to show as online or whatever the other state may be.
you could boot into the recovery options and flash the sbf using RSD.
I also have cheap blackberry MicroUSB cables bought on ebay that work just fine.
It seems simple but have you tried toggling usb debugging. I had the same issue until someone suggested that to me and worked like a charm. Toggle while unplugged then plug it.in

Hi
I recently bought a cheap OTG cable for my nexus s and is not being recognized by my phone. Please forgive me if this has already been a thread but I have just joined. I read somewhere that if you flash Matr1x kernel it will work successfully. However I will have to root it.
Does someone have another way to get it working or can you tell me how to root my phone in simple steps? Everything is appreciated
Many thanks
Sairas

Same issue here I'm rooted but on sock. I had to connect my SLR with NS but no luck so far.
Otg is not supported out of the box. It is required that you install a kernel that supports this feature. Search around and you'll find.
And yes you need to root and unlock bootloader, but once you start that, you won't recognise your phone any more good luck

With the appropriate kernel it still wont work,
there is no kernel available with 5v output, you'll need to make a Y cable (or buy one)
I also wan to make it work.

The only method to make it work is to use a kernel that supports OTG and to use a Y-cable providing external power supply...
I've been searching for an explanation to this, haven't had any luck. I used ROMToolbox on my Nexus 10 to change recoveries (TWRP 2.5.0.0 > 2.3.3.0) and it worked without any problem. I tried the same thing with my Vivid and got an "illegal instruction" error.
I was on CM ROM at the time, so I switched to PAC to see if that made any difference. It didn't. I finally got it installed using flash_image. I'm under the impression ROMToolbox's script uses flash_image, so I'm wondering if anyone knows why it didn't work that way
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
I would assume ROM toolbox tried to flash your recovery to the wrong partition...
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
Thanks. But that seems like a fairly large glitch on ROMToolbox's part. Wouldn't all Android devices have the same partition structure? Or is there something unique about HTC devices?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
Not all phones are partitioned in the same manor... hence the guess

Well, then. That's better than I got on my Bionic. CyanFox, CM11, or SlimKat(current) would not even breathe on slot 1.
Any other slot, and I was golden.
Yep, test, play, tweak, or wreck.....blow that slot up and go at it again.

Its good to see people still flashing custom ROMs on their bionics. I still have my bionic and its going as strong as ever. My son uses it and he loves it.
I installed Slimkat and I can't get past the loading screen. It just keeps flashing the Slimkat logo over and over indefinitely.
Alright, I fixed the problem. I made the mistake of using the old bootstrap to install Slimkat, so I wound up with a bricked device. Even the recovery was wiped out so I thought I was screwed. I did some digging and figured it out over the course of a few hours...
I downloaded the latest firmware for the Bionic and tried installing them in the command line while the phone was in fastboot. The img files supposedly loaded successfully, but I still couldn't get into recovery to finalize the system installation. Luckily I discovered RSD 5.6. It worked except there were a few problems in the xml file within the firmware, so I had to take out both lines that had "oem" in them to get it to finish.
After that my Bionic was brought back to factory stock condition. I rooted using the Safe Root command line tool, installed Safestrap 3.73, and flashed Slimkat. It worked great!
If you're having similar issues and I didn't give enough info just let me know and I'll try to help.

Thanks for the link playful. Got a question though. I did the three wipe method (dalvik, cache, and system) like you said and flashed the cm11 both downloads I download numerous times ,I thought maybe I got a bad download. And both downloads every time I flash comes up "failed" I'm on 4.2.2 rooted with twrp installed. I reran your freedom apk to make sure the f340 aboot was installed. And still nothing. About 10 sec after the "updating partitions" line comes up it pops up in twrp "failed". Any suggestions? Hints?

Your instructions I see don't actually say to wipe system does that make a difference? And also your instructions describe the cwm recovery options. Should I be using cwm instead?

thanks man, if we could get twrp to work, I would feel much safer testing and trying different things out, but, with no custom recovery, and after already bricking this thing once, I prefer to leave well enough alone...
