Try reading that again and look at the size of whatever it is he is trying to flash, that isn't a recovery.
Also a recovery can be renamed to whatever you want, so the command could very well be correct.

Is your bootloader unlocked?
if you have working clockworkmod, then just flash a rom from clockworkmod recovery.
yes bootloader is unlocked and at the moment my phone does not go beyond "X" but it goes in bootloader mode and recovery i have tried both the recoveries.rom is not flashing
Go to www.shipped-roms.com and download the frg33 shipped rom. Extract the zip within the zip and rename it PASSIMG.zip. Place it in the root of your sdcard and boot into the boatloader.

From past experience if you can get to recovery your phone is not bricked. You need to download a rom from off these forums. Download CM7 and flash it
Bootloader is not detecting the passimg and I have tried cm 7 and the stock to flash through recovery after flashing it gives me a weird error:
E:cant symlink /system/dumpcrash Error

Looks like your internal memory has crashed. I'll get back to you when i have more details.

Could you give us some more details? When you place the renamed PASSIMG.zip file in the root directory of your sdcard and boot into the bootloader, what happens? Does it search for a PASSIMG file? Does it give you an error? What?

Trying to flash kfhd7-freedom-boot-7.3.0.img and i get this error below. Is there something im doing wrong. I get to step 5 for Hashcodes Instructions and then i get the error. I have tried to rename the img file and that does not work. Any suggestions would be very great.

You should post this on Hashcode's second bootloader thread. You are more likely to receive a response from him there.
Good luck!

Thanks was looking for that newer NBIMG version.. You also might wanna note that you are going to have to be on an engineering or modded hboot to flash a splash I believe.. even with s-off regular hboot won't allow it..

Just tried on an S-OFF, but regular hboot 1.44 and it keeps spitting out an error:
sending 'splash1' (4050 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.658s]

UPDATE: Actually... scratch that, I figured it out. It's possible without a modified hboot. Method I used wasn't like this at all.

Use the method in the OP and you need the android-info.txt file. Take the nb file and the android-info.txt and zip them up. put the zip in your adb/fastboot folder and run these commands from the bootloader. I included the android-info.txt.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip nameof.zip
fastboot reboot

Hello , hello , i have a probleme with my xt890 , so my probleme is that in the fastboot i have a message that says : max download size 100mb so i cant flash an sbf a stock rom so i decided to devide the file in 9 files of 90 mb with the software gsplit and i modified the line code in the xml file to flash withe the modified file how is .exe of corse it dosent work , but before i had make a bakcup and now when i enter with twrp to make restore it says failed because : enable to mount /system ! so now i am with a phone who dont have an os and cant flash :/ so please if any one have an idea just say it
Use the old cwm to format your system partition. After that reflash twrp if u like. Twrp has one annoying bug, and that is if you flash the system partition with fastboot, twrp is unable to mount the system partition.
The bug is listed as a problem in twrp. See the first post in the twrp thread.

thank you very much it works , i am restoring now my rom tell me there is no solution for the fastboot restriction of 100mb max download ?
Nope, there isn't a solution to the 100mb problem. Only with a script u can get it right. Somewhere on this forum there is a hand made solution that does the job. It works, tried it myself.

I have this message about 100mb on my fastboot too. Could it be important in my problem that you commented on http://forum.xda-developers.com/raz...-cyanogenmod-11-t2966855/page117#post61326253 or is it unsolvable? thank you

No, the 100mb message means that the max download size of a file you want to flash through fastboot is 100mb. So a file like system.img may not exceed 100mb. To flash a image higher than 100mb, u need a fastboot binary that can separate the big file in chunks of 100mb and than send those files to the phone. So all files are send with a max size of 100mb, but the actual combined size surpasses 100mb.
Max download size 100mb

Hi, I'm having the same problem and I do not understand how you solved that you can explain me? I know the Razr I is an old smartphone but my new cell phone broke and I remembered that I have razr saved
Well... too late, but for 'Bootloader: max_size" errors, you must flash w RDS opening for first the xml and deleting the "get_var max download size" line. just that.
After suscessfull installing of firmware got following error while installing recovery and also the sim card doesn't work

1.5GB would be a large recovery. Are you sure you're flashing the right file?
Did you check the md5 of the firmware and the recovery?
yes its only 15mb twrp

"cannot load" just means the filename is wrong.
