Hi I'm in SF under tmobile the c6903 works very well under Lte too! If I'm not wrong the 06 is better for at&t Lte but if u check in the other thread there is more than one guy using it on at&t without any issue except less Lte signal.
So C6903 is the way to go if I want to be under T-Mobile, thanks!

c6903 will give you LTE speeds on T-mobile since it supports band 4 (1700mhz) for T-mobile's LTE ,if you go for c6906 you will get band 17 (700mhz) which is used by AT&T for their LTE, along with band 4 (1700mhz) so c6906 seems a better choice if you decide to swap t-mobile and at&t sim cards, also some users have been lucky to get get LTE by using at&t sim card on their c6903 model cause apparently at&t is starting to expand or at rare times uses 1700mhz spectrum for their LTE but i wouldn't bet much on it,700mhz is their prime spectrum for LTE.Hope this helps
Okay thanks so c6906 is the way to go. Anyone have any idea where the best place to buy it is?

yes, i got my phone about 3 days after i placed the order. As for AT&T, i have used my work ATT in it and get 3G but haven't tested LTE. i do get LTE on Tmobile of course where it's available
not sure about ATT LTE though, it seems to be hit or miss for some.

My parents are considering ditching VZW and going with T-Mobile. The bring-your-own-phone discount T-Mo offers is really appealing to them, and my dad's a huge Moto fan (IDK why). So, that said, i went poking around, and found a couple reviews that stated they were pentaband phones? I know Pentaband usually means T-Mobile 4G-friendly (EG galaxy nexus) but i really wanted to confirm that they would work on T-Mo at full speed before recommending either of the phones.
According to GSMArena, these are the bands the phones have:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
So... how would they fare?
Thanks in advance!
Is the phone unlocked? My Droid 3 had to be flashed to even work on gsm plus unlocked. It will work with 3g if you live in an area on air portal.de.

It doesn't have the 1700 mHz band, so unless you live in an area that T-Mobile has completed (or is in the process of), the refarming of the 1900 mHz band to,HSPA+ you will only get EDGE data speeds. Calls and texts will work fine.

So for future reference, the 1700 MHz band is important one? Is that single band used for 3G and HSPA+ "4G", or just one of them?

T-Mobile uses both the 1700mHz and the 2100mHz bands, you need both to get "4G" or HSPA+ (since HSPA+ is really 3.5G you will fall back to EDGE is the phone is not compatible.)

Sry I hope i dont double post here cause i dont have the timd to read the full thread just my two cents:
Motorola RAZR i
No 4G at all
Unlocked and carrier free
Will it be released in the US? I thought it wouldnt...
And when amazon germany is correct it will be released on 15., two days later i will get it
Again sry for (possible) double posting

1) Razr i has, AFAIK, AT&T HSPA+ "4G" radios, just no LTE
2) sim free version, yes
3) In the US we get the Droid Razr M, which is identical except for its S4 CPU and VZW LTE radios. Doesn't stop us from importing the GSM Razr i tho
4) I thought it was already out?
Uk only so far i think, France and Germany up next. Sweden seems to be a no show
Thanks for correcting me
Though im on vacation till 18th so i will get it on 20th when i meet a friend who ordered it for me :/

Ok Guys from what i understand on the AT&T site. I Can only use my Unlocked smartphone by purchasing a prepaid Plan for 60$/mo and this will only offer a 1GB of Data! 1GB of Data isn't really Enough.

The problem is that the C6603 doesn't support HSDPA on 1700 or 1900. If you get the C6603 you would only get HSDPA if you happen to be in an area where AT&T offers HSDPA on 850. However, the C6603 may be able to use T-Mo LTE in the few areas that it's available.

I think canada is getting the C6906 officially, which is suppose to work with every carrier. And C6903 and C6906 are the same beside the H 265 playback according to Sony white paper. So I would say yes.
I received my C6903 today and it works on Rogers just fine with 4G but you have to manually set the APN info.

Or ask your network to send a configuration SMS... You just click it and don't have to do anything!
Canada is (most likely) receiving the C6906 model, which has the LTE band that will for for any carrier really. After some research, Rogers, Telus and Bell all require 700 MHz band frequencies in their phones to get LTE. Wikipedia in this sense is not a viable source of information. I'm a bit lazy but here's Bell's website claiming that their phones must have 700 MHz frequencies: http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Products/4G_LTE_SIM_card
I spoke to a Bell representative and she very explicitly told me that the version of the Z1 they are getting will have the 700 MHz frequency built in, whether or not it is the C6906 model is something the representative could not answer. As such, it is very safe to assume that Canada is indeed getting the C6906 model.
I'm excited. I'll be getting a friend to purchase the phone outright for me and just ship it over to my ass in NYC. Sure would be nice if I didn't have to wait another 9 days! Would be even nicer if I could purchase the phone myself instead of having a friend do it for me.

the difference in z1 models are the LTE modem and the 6903 don't have the same as the 6906.

Do they use the same frequencies in Canada as in the US? In the US, they use 700/1700/2100, and I think 1700/2100 (band 4) is their primary (most widely deployed). If that's true for Canada as well, all four phones should work on LTE. Obviously, I have not tested this so I cannot be sure.
Flashing a 6906 to a 6916 for wifi calling feature
Hey Guys!
I bought a Sony Z1 last year (6906) Canada boot loader locked to use on T-mobiles LTE network and everything worked great, only issue was I lost my Wi-Fi calling feature on the new model as it was not directly from T-Mobile and really liked the feature.
I see that T-Mobile released an almost identical version (6916), only I think has more memory and less bands available.
I tried to pull the wifi .apk file off my original android phone to see if I could make it work, and would not install assuming brand specific of permissions related.
so, wanted to pick the forums brain and see if any one out there has done this, take the firmware for a T-mobile branded 6916 model ( I believe current version is 14.2.C.0.159, until new kit kat release comes out if and when of course ) and put it on the 6906 model so the wifi calling feature can work.
Bands look to be there, so hoping this could work unless someone had a reliable work around for the Wi-Fi calling ?
Please excuse my noobness, new to Z1 forum so any and all help greatly appreciated
Thanks for any help in advance!
I thought bands and signal reception were hardware related not software related.

It's a 5306. Otherwise it wouldn't have LTE listed in the baseband options when you type *#*#4636#*#*
EDIT - I take that back, I guess the 5303 does also have LTE, but different bands. God I hope it's not a 5303, how can you tell? Different ROMs come from different bases and depending on the ROM you install it'll say 5306 or 5303. The stock ROM that came installed on it said 5306, but I installed another custom one and it now says 5303, ugh.
Holy ****, not only do I have the wrong phone, I think I was defrauded in the process. This is a 5303 that was sold as a 5306. The seller just flashed 5306 firmware on top to make it look like a 5306. The picture below shows that it has the 5303 bands (1,3,5,7,8,20) and not the 5306 ones (1,2,4,5).
Does it say C5303 at Model Info? Or on the Box? If yes get your bud to the store

It says whatever firmware you put on it. The C5303 and C5306 firmware are interchangeable. Hence why I think they can sell them as "C5306" phones. This was on ebay, by the way. The only way you can tell is to look at what bands the phone supports, which I did above, you do that by typing *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialer and then going to Configuration in the Service Menu.
i have a c5306 i checked the bands. Anyways i am using it on att and i get h+ but no lte any ideas?
