There is nothing stable for our device. Even the original Gingerbread keeps rebooting with games or ram consumption apps... samsung take out this phone from their as*es. You can try CM10.1 but it has some problems because of low RAM and battery goes down faster...

[Q] moving from darky

hi,
whats up?
ok so i have darkys rom v9.4 and i want to try a new rom called pilotx because im not really happy with the battery life and speed, and i got a little bored
so anyway, im kindda new to this flashing thing and i dont want my phone to become unusable for the next days so i wanted to know how to change roms the quickies and painless way possible.
do i just copy the files to the sd card, wipe and then install with recovery?
thanx
yes that is what you do BUT !!!
also remove the lagfix (if applied) before flashing the new ROM
Ok thanx.
So when do I need to use Odin?
And is miui a good rom for the sgs? Do you recommend it?
i use MIUI now and its awesome !!!
it has a few bugs still but is more than stable for day to day use.
biggest issue is battery life - its about 1 full day with heavy use. 2 days with normal use.
you MUST follow the instructions perfectly, it can be a little tricky but will definately be worth it.

Modaco FR15 or CM7

Hi guys,
Currently running MCR FR15 but was thinking of giving CM7 a try...
Was wondering which people thought was the better rom at the moment in terms of stability / everything working / best battery life?
Cheers in advance.
I would stick with FR15 for now. It is very reliable. CM7 is way too buggy at the moment. Tried it for 1 day and had a couple of reboot.
i have tried both, CM7 is really not ready yet.
Cm7:
Flash video curruption, Sound stuttering, SOUND distortion , USB Mount to PC bug ,
Most important,
CM7 11. has a bug not all people has been experiencing yet, which the EXTernal USB card is not detecting under Recovery mode. THis **** end up having me NVflash my system, and lost everysingle thing on the device.
Note: if you read the forum , and i am not the only one that has this issue.
i will stay with FR15 for sure.
But to me i rather use STOCK LG ROM, issue free. if you can live with a bit slower UI and installation , other than that i think Custom rom isn't really that much better than LG stock rom with all the issue we are experiencing right now
I tried both, too.
MoDaCo feels more solid with less bug but the battery time kills me. Even with all apps suspended it still drains 10%+ overnight.
CM7 is quite buggy, yes. But I managed to get it running quite a-ok. The most important things work well (phone, gps, usb-storage, youtube, gmail etc...). There are a lots of issues with usb-storage doesnt work for some people and the video driver is still full of bugs (broken flash video, on-off animation don't work yet, screen turns on twice at wake ). Still, the best feature of this CM7 gotta be the battery time which is really really really important for me. Installed CM7 nightly 11 2 night ago and the battery drain has been virtually zero overnight. I will have to monitor it a few more days thought. Just wiped the battery stats yesterday so it might have not been correctly showed yet.

CM7 is completely separate to the recovery, and has no bearing on it. Whatever caused the problem was not CM7.

Totally agree with u.
I would stick with stock until CM7 is ready. Paul will lose interest in the O2X like he does with every device and development will stop. CM7 has a much larger development community and when the final builds are released it will be the perfect Android device.
But to be fair, Paul doesn't stop development on a device until his ROM is as good as he thinks he can get it (which, as I found on my Hero & Blade is pretty damn good - not installed FR15 on my O2X, as still thinking about taking it back).
Tested allmost all cm7 nightlies till v11. Its a dawn good rom, but not reliable at the moment because of the freezes and reboots. I will definitely install cm7 final but till then i continue using fr15 FEAR edition (stable and smoothness ****in rocks )
Hi guys,
Bringing this one back from the dead - we're a month on from the original post... is there any change?
Is MCR (FR17) still the best custom rom?
Of has CM or one of the FR18 roms from here surpassed it?
CM7 has come along way, annoying freezes are a thing of the past.
I'd recommend a modaco based rom. I'm running fear edition and it's nice and fast. Cm7 still has some bugs.
I'd recommend making a nandroid and testing a few out for yourself. Backup and restore is a fairly simple process

I'm running CM7 .42 build at the moment, and I must say I'm pretty impressed. Overall feel is better than with Fr16 (haven't used 17+, since that's when I went on to ecperiment with CM7 nightlies), app installation is faster, Gingerbread (should I say more? Well, yes: it brings UI changes I prefer to Froyo, like the widget selection screen, faster UI overall).
I had issues with Slick2x and Spoelstra's GB ROMs rendering my Wifi unstable and unable to connect after a while, but I have flashed CM7 off the official source and it is bloody stable, fast and I have yet to experience that WiFi bug again. (I have had one reboot, but I am pretty sure it was a sucky app (errrr, game) that caused it. Hard to blame CM7 for that.)
I'm currently not going back to Paul's ROMs for a while. I'll stay a subscriber though: he has magic fingers and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do when LG finally gets us GB....
I'm using the latest CM7 Nightly, it works perfect, but the only issue is that i'm not able to get the internal sd-card mounted.
Anybody got a solution for this?
Look in /mnt/emmc
Thanks, but...
For example the camera won't see it. I think camera app doesn't know the mountpoint. Same at gallery.
Currently, I don't have an external sd-card...
I'll have a try by editing the vold.fstab, perhaps that's it
Edit: just renaming emmc with sdcard and vice versa doesn't solve the problem.
Edit2: It works!
Tested fr17 fearless today, it's nice and quick but i just miss something.. don't know what. Back to cm7

+1 for Modaco or fear Rom CM7 just isn't there yet for an everyday rom, It's close. I still get sound missing or stuttering in MOST music players that only goes away after a reboot but come back randomly. A fair few games just refuse to run under CM7 that run fine under any other non 2.3 rom. So for me any 2.2 based rom is at least usable as 2.3 isn't quit there yet. If you however never use your phone for music/photo or games then CM7 may just be ok for you.
Kernel
Sorry, but you and 'ever fail to install rom with some kernel?? Let me explain:

Not 100% sure what you're trying to say...I recommend a wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition then dalvik cache in clockwork recovery. Then install your new ROM. If that doesnt work try nvflash back to stock.

What's the most stable ROM at moment?

I been on simply honey gingerbread since August, but after a few Weeks it starts to give force closes, becomes slow and battery calibration every 2/3 days. After every few Weeks when this happens I just reflash the ROM and it works well again until the cycle starts again.
anyway i'm fed up of doing that now, not much of a flasher either anymore like I was when darky and doc were around. So I just want a long time stable ROM, but there's so many I've from never heard of. So need help from you guys please.
P.s ROM developers, please start collaborating with each other to create quality ROMs rather than go for quantity of mediocre ROMs.

tornado ROM really fast and stable +
Damiangto kernel
Or
Cyanogenmod
Most people just go with some stock/custom samsung rom with a custom kernel. Samsung based roms aren't all that much different from each other, some tweaks, removal/add of programs, different theme and that's pretty much it. In the end i always ended up finding something i didn't like and up to this day i haven't seen anyone correcting the charging bug on samsung's roms.
No offense meant to any developer out there, of course, but i've tried loads of roms and this is my experience of it.
This kind of changed after trying cyanogenmod 7 stable. It isn't based on samsung's roms. And i know this statement is, by now, a cliche around here but this is, by far,the fastest and most stable rom i've tried up to this day and is what i recommend from personal experience.
Just a note to however follows this route. There are nightlies being released after the stable version and i've seen people recommending them instead of the stable because they were release after the stable and are just added stuff. The way i see it, if they're adding new stuff, it may break previous stable work. Well, this is your call, they are called nightlies for a reason, not stable.
Up to you though, i've seem some posts saying they had all sorts of trouble with CM7. I reckon either they were unlucky, tried an unstable version or just didn't follow instructions properly and ended up quitting.
It seems that GingerReal v1.3 for Galaxy Ace is more stable as what I have experienced.
sO Go GingerReal YoU RocK Dude!!!
jetpack checkout totallydubbed facebook wall 19hrs on with gameplaygood batterylife very stable but thats just my opinion

Best ROM as of right now?

Whats the best rom available right now for the N1? I haven't tested my N1 with anything in a while been running MIUI but I'm finding it to be sort of laggy now with apps installed.
Fastest? Hmm, pretty much any CM7 self-kang.
This one by samuaz is really fast: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416894
Is that the most stable rom available for nexus one right now?
with multiple full wipes to include system both are stable for me
with ICS by samuaz you need to follow op page exactly
Temaseks latest CM7 Kang with scroll zip is BLAZING
I use now ICS by samuaz, it's fast and really stable. But it's an alpha version!
When you think it's important to have a stable rom, then
use CM7. CM7 roms are as stable as stock, but better ;-)
worth upgrading to ICS or JB?
hello. I realize this thread hasn't been active in a while, but I am thinking to bring back my Nexus One from the grave so I can have a backup phone for my daughter to play with in the car/plane. I wanted to ask if it is worth installing ICS or JB ROMs that are out there. I just have the stock ROM in there now and I always struggled with low memory and lag with some newer apps, that's why I've upgraded phones (I've have a Galaxy Nexus now).
I don't have intentions to put a SIM card in there, so I don't really care about phone call features.. only purely from a processing and lightweight standpoint.
Has anybody played enough with GB vs ICS and/or JB and weighed if it's worth upgrading? I'm assuming that it's worth it because so many developers still have Nexus One ROMs... that's why I would just go ahead and install it, but then I'm thinking again if it's just going to bog down the phone if I'm going to only use it for simple games.
Thanks in advance!!
Ken
Hello! I have installed the CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.2 v6.0 that is based on CyanogenMod and Evervolv, and works fine for me. I also have installed all the /data partition in the SD card with the A2SD script that is incorporated in the ROM... it generates some few lags, but I didn't have had any problem of lack of space again.
In my opinion, this is the ROM of JB that best preserves the native Android interface, and in my case is stable (until 7 days without to require a reboot!).
Other JB ROMs that users frequently use are PARANOIDANDROID and PixelDroid.
Thanks for the quick response! That is the ROM I was thinking of as well. However, just as a comparison, I'm thinking to flash a clean version of GB back onto the phone as well. Any recommendations on any GB ROMs as well? Thanks!

Sorry, but I can't help on it. I didn't install any GB ROM further than the stock ROM. In my opinion, I think that a stable, complete and functional ROM might be CyanogenMod 7.2. Maybe other XDA members can help you better on it...

No problem. I'll probably end up trying both out. Thanks again for the response. By the way, what do you use your N1 for now or is that you main phone? I was playing around with it yesterday and I still like it a lot - I always liked the trackball.

This is my main phone. In several times I though changing to other new Nexus device, but the screen size of new devices is too big for me! I like a screen size from 3.7 to 4.0, that is good to read mails, a brief navigation in the Internet, and other minor issues. For other intensive uses, I have my tablet Nexus 10 or my laptop.

[Q] What's the best CM7 Rom for P970

I must ask
because I like a lot CM7 ROMs, very fast and all the apps worked so good, even faster than stock ROM
but everytime I installed one of them it always happened the same to me, randomly, but sooner or later, my screen just got stuck and I needed to reboot...
is it a ROM based on Cyanogenmod7 which doesn't present that problem, I mean a really stable one??

CICI was one of the more stable CM7 ROMs, but it wasn't solid.

You want a GB 2.3.4 based ROM for the greatest stability and performance.

oh yeah I tested CICI once, it's amazing I almost left that one as my default ROM but it presented the same problem (system crash and random reboot) not sure if the latest has this issue fixed
