Running low on app space?? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed a few different Roms over the last few days after finally unlocking my HTC One.
I have had a few times had a pop up saying I have very limited space left to install apps. i don't seem to have many apps installed compared to what I used to install on my galaxy Nexus. What is causing this and how can I overcome it to install the apps I need ?
Thanks

Which space do you have for apps?
I have 20 GB free with music, photo and the OS...
Can you post a screen here of your memory details from the settings?

[Q] Low Internal Memory - 3 Days

Has anybody come across a problem with low memory after 3 days of use. This is with stock rom and unrooted. Barely 20 apps installed. What in the world could be eating up on the memory i wonder This is definitely the first for me and this is my 4th Android device.
Any apps or way to find out which app is taking up all the memory? Yesterday i checked and it was 600 plus MB free. Now it's only 67.8MB free. WTF
Something definetly not right. I have a lot more apps installed.
Have you accidently installed all your media files ie mp3s, videos onto the phone memory?

Nup....it's in the memory card. Even if i did, i could not have copied so much mp3 and i for sure did not copy any video's.
Is there any way to find out which app is taking up all the memory? I'm using my Sensation and i have more then 40 apps yet it still have some 500 plus MB.
How in the world did i lose 500 to 600 MB to apps on my device.....what's worse.....i don't even know which app. Damn
Anybody has suggestions.....appreciate it

You could try to factory reset your IS.

On the Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications, it should show you how much space each program is taking up. Does anything look unusual on that screen?
I've checked in the manage apps but nothing unusual. Running apps are normal. Nothing very huge. Guess i will have to root the IS to find out what is eating up all the memory
Am trying not to do a factory reset. Would like to find out what apps are killing my phone memory so i can avoid that app. My first guess is Papago
So i finally figured out what app was taking up all my internal memory....Contact Storage was taking up 886MB.
It only had 442 contacts in it.....anybody knows why it would take up so much contact storage space?? Care to share?

Is it me or is stock a bit sluggish?

I am on stock 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0, Its a bit slow to be honest and what the hell is eating all the RAM 80mb free out of 606MB
That would be all the apps loaded into your internal memory. You can avoid slowdown by moving apps over to your SD card. Also if your running live wallpaper or have widgets that grab information and update via your mobile network. I wouldn't say it's your fault tho as these devices are advertised with live wallpaper and 3d applications. I found my phone to be sluggish too after installing many apps and running sync with fb and news and lots of other crap. Also the more you use your phone the slower it all get as files installed by apps on internal memory when uninstalled usually don't erase everything therefore clogging up your system. These devices are like computers in a lot of ways especially in the way when you buy it it runs fast and smooth than goes to **** after a few months. For all these reasons and many more I rooted and flashed so I have complete control over my device.

Follow this. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Incredible_S:_Full_Update_Guide
If you don't want cyanogen just replace it at the end but I would stay with cm.

OR,
If you want to stay stock, try and figure how to use ROM Cleaner.
Doing that, you can remove unnecessary default applications or bloatware that might be causing you discomfort, which cannot be uninstalled by conventional means.
stock is really slow. I would recomend rooting and flashing custom roms. One thats suits of course...
I agree. I had the Incredible S and it worked pretty smoothly before the update. There is a tad bit of lag with the new update. I would recommend trying a new rom.

[Q] Removing System Apps

I was wondering if there was a way for me to remove the apps that came preloaded but no functional uninstall button (twitter, facebook, amazon kindle, etc) without rooting it? I rooted my nook color successfully a few times last years, but I'd really rather not with the dell just because it really already has the functionality I was looking to get out of the nook (except these annoying apps). It seems to run low on space quickly, much faster than the nook. I don't even need the navigation apps as it is one that has the sim card blocked off so it's wi-fi only. If I do have to root it to get rid of them, what would be the best route to go? Thank you in advance!
Nope! You download Superuser7 and install from Fastboot.
Woops! That wasn't correct! You must install a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP first and than install Superuser7 from that.

Mine was rooted with gingerbreak, but I never upgraded it to hc, so it probably doesn't fit your situation.

It seems I may have a problem with my device and not these system apps like I was thinking. I tried to install a 29 mb app today it said insuffiescient space so I unloaded another app and got rid of a few pictures, still wouldn't work. I checked the space and it says I have nearly 12GB available internal and my sd is blank so theres almost 8GB external available. For some reason the device sees the empty space but can't install to it. I have 6 apps and 10 pictures on my devices and it still says theres no space. I guess I'll have to send it to Dell again because I don't know what it's problem is!

[Q] Hardly enough storage to install apps CM10?

I installed the CM10 rom for my xperia x8 e15i following the thread here. It works pretty well and I like the style a lot, but it is rather laggy (even with swap enabled in settings). I can more or less live with the lag, but worse is that I seem to have almost no internal memory left...whenever I try to download an app via the play store I run into insufficent space (I hardly have any apps installed, maybe 4 such as whatsapp, terminal emulator, maps, supsersu).
My internal memory shows total 192mb, used 132mb, available 39mb. But installing something like twitter results in insufficient space error. I even used the LuckyAppManager to move maps etc to sdcard but still I have not much space.
Is this normal when cm10 is installed on the x8? Not sure I can live with so few apps and such lag (6 seconds to load a screen like settings for example or to rotate the screen).
If this is normal for this ROM, could someone recommend me a fast lightweight rom for the x8?
Thanks
I have the same problem!
I've prepared my old x8 for my daughter and after I've installed a ROM (something like v4.1.2 of Android I've found on XDA), but there's not enough space to install anything.
I'm keen to install whatsapp for her, but I only have 31MB free, and whatsapp won't download due to lack of space.
Did you find any solution? maybe I should look for a smaller ROM. Now that I can't install whatsapp I would even settle with a v2.3 ROM or whatever, as long as I can install it.

Is there any consensus on which rom is the Ultimate Custom Rom? 5.1.1 (jun/2018)

theres so many roms. im using right now CarbonRom. Before i installed many apps, it was perfect with many options. the best one was one that fade out when i open a app. now apps are freezing or taking several seconds to open.
To be honest, the best rom for me so far was the vanilla kitkat 4.4.2. its very fast all time. problem is. with time the system can get until 5gb of space, leaving few gb to use to put music or games, movies.
