Sorry if it's been posted before. I searched WiFi and got tons of results but couldn't see what I was looking for. Basically, I hadn't used my N7 for like 8 months and broke it out. I updated to 4.3 and now it just constantly drops wifi, like every 5-10 seconds. I can't go through the play store without retrying to connect every page or download. Is there a fix for this or should I downgrade using the toolkit to 4.2?
Do a factory reset /full wipe and start afresh and hopefully that will solve the problem

yes do a factory reset and under the wifi advance settings, untick the wifi optimization.

So I just lived out a nightmare trying to figure out how to ' reverse tether' so I can use my cable internet while at home and not waste my data. I Finally get it working with connectify and virtual router only to discover that I get dropped frequently and sometimes can't even reconnect with a reboot of my phone and/or pc. unfortunately I haven't been able to test it on wifi anywhere else cuz there isn't much around. Can I get some advice in things to check/change on my phone (modem?) That might keep me connected? My girlfriend has an htc and she doesn't get dropped so it's something with my phone. I'm running 2.2.1 that came with serendipity 5.11. Nobody has issues with wifi that I could find in the serendipity thread so I'm at a loss.
Thanks a bunch

Did u try flashing to stock, and re-flashing the ROM u have on urs?
Actually, no. guess I should give that a shot. Does the modem affect wifi or no?

modem absolutely affects Wifi
I read somewhere on here that ths modem doesn't affect wifi. But them someone else said they thought it did. Do I want sure. I haven't had a chance to reflash yet but here is some additional info on my problem..
I seem to get dropped when my phone has been idle for a while. Like right now I am connected but when I am done writing this and I set my phone down itll be disconnected when I come back to it 9 out of 10 times. I got dropped just before writing this in the same way. I connected, set my phone down, came back maybe 15 minutes later and I was disconnected. I was on connectify at the time and couldn't reconnect. I closed connectify and launched virtual router which I am connected with now. Changing the tether program doesn't always work. Sometimes I have to restart my phone too. I have a feeling I need to look into a different modem.

Hello fellow 2x owners.
Im experiencing the following weird problem:
After using the phone for about 24 hours suddenly my internet stops working. It still has the 3g icon but not the up and down arrows.
Setting are correct, entering new settings doesnt change a thing. Rebooting, turning data on and off, roaming.. nothing seems to work.
The only way to restore it is going back to factory defaults.
Ive done that 2 times already but the problem seems to return every single time again after a while (say 24 hours).
Do you guys have any idea what might cause it? Im using the phone for about 10 days now and its really getting annoying. Comming from a HTC Desire with the same simcard where I never experienced this problem before.
Cheers!

Had the same experience today with a "brand new" VIP changed phone. While in the train from Amersfoort to Apeldoorn I lost connection, checked the APN, did resets, flight mode etc. Eventually it worked when I rebooted while in flight mode, then turn connection back on after reboot... Hope this won't happen more often, as my previous sample (bought on 10 march) didn't show any of this.
Only difference is this one's rooted from day 1.
Hi, does the wifi work? Or... IMs, Tweets, & RSS updates? If there is an issue w/ your phone, you'll want to be clear when speaking to an CS agent. Good Luck!
I ended up finding the problem. Every setting and such was correct, but there was a faulty widget toggle that was preventing data. ended up reinstalling it and the problem was fixed!

Having the same problem
Can't get it to work regardless of how many reboots and toggles. It works after I do a factory reset, but as soon as I have used the wifi, it simply refuses to go back to mobile data once i turn the wifi off.
Really frustrating.
I tried using apndroid to disable/enable the access point. This worked really well, and I got back data connectivity. What's really weird is that the problem hasn't returned yet. I can switch between wifi/3g all I want. I don't really know what the problem was since my sim card (tdc) worked well in other phones, and other sim cards (Telia) worked well in the optimus....
Everytime I go on the Youtube app all I get is "There was a problem with the network [504]" I have cleared cache etc, flashed stock Froyo and GB (each time factory reset and cleared dalvik) but nothing works, also Tweetcaster wont update. Yet all other data dependant apps work? Im confused.
I also hve the same problem, what I found out is that the internet connection should be very good, otherwise it will give error, seems the problem is youtube not the network becuse at the same time I can connect to internet
I've never had a problem before, regardless of how good my internet connecting was. It would work on g/3g or h. It was fine on Sunday then not working on monday.

For some odd reason my Touchpad can't connect to Google Servers which means I can't access market and many other applications I regularly use. I searched in Google and tried 4-5 different fixes to try get it work but seems like it's not connecting. The only other fix I've read that seems it will probably 100% work would be wiping data which I don't want to do Anyone have any ideas how I can get this to work?
Thank you.
Try setting ur time and date, mine was set to wrong time zone and wouldn't connect either but then I changed fixes my time and date and boom it worked!

Thanks! Such a simple fix. I was borderline about to reset my device, until I stumbled upon this and also realized that my device's date & time settings were reset earlier today for some reason.
Hello. I recently got a Moto X and I've been trying to update it but when I go to settings then update. It says that there's already an updating being downloaded. Problem is, there isn't. I've tried lots of things like, force closing MotorolaOTA, Clearing data and force closing Google services framework. I've factory reset, Cleared Cache Partitions, tried downloading in a different WiFi. But none of those worked.

Here you go.
If it makes you feel any better I'm having the exact same problem. I was coming here to post as a last resort and saw your post. I bought the phone yesterday morning and got it all setup and saw the update so started the update. 24 hours later and it still says an update is in progress. I decided to try to install the Motorola Device Manager on my PC and it says an update is already in progress... even after I force closed Motorola OTA on the device. So frustrating to have all these issues with a new phone I was so excited about buying after coming back to Android after a couple year stint with iPhone 5 and then iPhone 5s.

I bought it yesterday afternoon. And let it update all day but woke up to this. Tried Motorola manager and got the same error as you. Its weird cause my mom got the same phone 2 days ago and is happening to her too.

Does turning on the WiFi help? Maybe its restricted to download in 4g to not eat your data plan up? Or how about doing master reset?

I was on Wi-Fi for like 24 hours straight and it didn't download. When I leave my house and lose Wi-Fi I get a notification that says " Download will resume in Wi-Fi coverage" and the progress bar shows 0% even after several hours on high speed Wi-Fi. I also tried a complete restore and it still doesn't work. I wonder if the servers are having issues?

if you aren't worried about data then you can just use rsd to flash the updated FW on your phone. or manually do it. Or you can just push the OTA update file that it is trying to download manually into your /cache folder and then when you reboot the phone it will start installing the ota. easy workarounds. I haven't ever downloaded the OTA over the air actually. just push it to my phone from a computer so i don't have to wait for it to eventually pop up on my phone durring their rolling releases

I've tried multiple WiFi networks. I'm aware AT&T doesn't allow to update over data.
I don't know if this applies, but I had a similar issue with my Nexus 7 (2013). It wouldn't see the most recent update (JSS15R), even though it had been out for weeks. It just kept saying 'Your tablet is up to date.' While it's not quite the issue you're having, it might have an effect.
I went into Settings -> Apps and cleared data from both Google Services Framework and Download Manager. Then I rebooted and checked for an update again. I think it didn't work the first time, so I tried it again.
Hope it works, I hope to be getting a Moto X soon and would like to know if this works in case it happens to me!
Weirdest thing... I was out of the house for a couple hours so the download showed as paused in notifications.... I walked back into the house, picked up my Wi-Fi, and the update popped up as being ready to install within a minute. Hopefully yours eventually come through too Doctor.

Weird. Went and clicked to update and took about 3 seconds. Must've been something with their servers.
