Gmail? Anyone working on it? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I can't for the life of me believe Samsung did not enable gmail support. Is there anyone out there who is working on getting this working properly?
I thought I remember reading somewhere that you could enable it in the regular email app with pop? Is this true?

I suggest you use imap. Here's how to enable it in your account and the settings for your phone.

Pop or imap? Which is better? Does it remove the notification on the phone in the regular gmail app?
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app

Don't use pop or IMAP tell it manual setup, use the exchange settings and input the mail server m.google.com and you will get live pushes instead of the periodic 15 minutes pushes.

Yes. I don't get it. Everything is already populated. In the domain are you keeping the back slash

No I removed the back slash. Mine works perfect. Wonder if you have to enable Pop in your Gmail settings for it to work?...

I had it enabled from a long time ago. I just checked it again and it is turned on but not sure if you need it for this. Authentication error is good, means you can talk to the mail server (m.google.com)

I believe Google stopped supporting Exchange, so using Exchange wont work anymore. If it was working before (When you have it set up a while back), then it will still works, but the new one wont.

I am pretty sure it still works. Can anyone confirm.

The Atooma app has a set of conditions for Gmail that it looks like will send you the body of the message to the Gear. I haven't messed with it much but looks like it is there (and dang cool).

or instead of running 2 processes and getting duplicate notifications you could just install the apk that someone has made to extend the notifications access.

Constantly flashing active notification.

I was wondering if the active notifications are constantly supposed to be lighting the screen up. Every time I look at my phone it seems to be lighting up only the clock even without any notifications pending. Is this normal?

Yes, active notifications are supposed to have a "breathing-like" quality. Every few seconds or so if and when the phone is not face down and/or in your pocket, it will gently pulse the time and any notifications you may or may not have. I think you can turn it off, but I don't remember. Can't wait to get my hands on it next week
Yup, this is exactly how active notifications work. They're only lighting up certain panels on the display. Also, you can put a timer on it so it doesn't turn on at certain times.
Thanks for the responses. It's really irritating when driving simply because my suspension is hard, and every bump makes the phone think I moved the phone to look at it.

Basically works the same way a flashing LED light would work on the Nexus 4 or any other phone. It might be annoying, but it's meant to grab your attention and be just as annoying as an LED light except it is more informative since it tells you what the most recent notification is. If I'm trying to focus on something, I just put my phone face down and it will mute the notifications until you turn it over again.

Hopefully. But just flashing the clock over and over doesn't seem informative. Either way the driving feature doesn't have many features. Maybe it's something that isn't specifically mentioned. Regardless, thanks for the answers.

If you have more than one notification, swipe away the top one. The rest teleport to the top with no animation. That alone has me back on 4.1.2
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
not sure if its related but ever since i updated all my contact photos in the text message app that were linked to my friends facebook pics are all now blank and i cant get them to come back and stay, i went into the facebook app and "sync with existing contacts" and i went into settings and synced facebook contacts in there also
I don't know ifthis is a bug, but what ifs the purpose of the day dream setting. My phone didn't fully charge last night, probably because the screen kept coming on. Other than that I don't really notice anything that is greatly different. I am however hoping that the no SIM card issues are fixed.

I asked in another thread, but it might get more answers here. On 4.3, I've had the stock music app reset the volume to all the way down/off twice. I'm using google Play music to see if I can get the same issue on that as well. I'm curious as to if anyone else has seen this particular issue.

That's not the ROM problem. That is your phone/sim issue. I believe most people have resolved it by taking out the sim, cleaning it, blowing out the contacts, and re-seating.
The firmware seems to cause a swap for those who did and did not have the purple camera issue. I didn't before, have it now. Boss had it before, doesn't now.

I had the no SIM card error pop up, rebooted and it's gone. Been getting a weird Wi-Fi disconnect issue but it could probably just be my router. Other than that, no issues.

The option to toggle whether open wifi connections are available is not working it is permanently turned on even after factory reset. Also roaming guards cannot be toggled off and alot of apps force close after closing them but that one could be they are not updated for 4.3 yet.

It was my guess as I assume AT&T wouldn't send else a phone not capable of receiving mms, especially considering how much $$ they beat you for them.
