[Q] Need help rooting. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I have a Galaxy Note I GT-N7000.
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband Version: N7000XXLT3
Kernel version: 3.0.31-1103517
Build number: J2054K.N7000XXLT4
I would like to root it and install a lighter / bloatware free rom.
Can anyone direct me to the right rooting method please?
I've been to many links in XDA that attempt to explain this but am not sure which versions of which files I need to download and use.
Thank you very much.

Go to the link below, grab right PhilZ for your Rom and flash it using stock recovery..

Btw this is General section, it is always better to ask any questions, query, or help in Q&A Section more than General.

Thank you , but again , I did not understand from it which Kernel to use and what to do with it. I am afraid to brick my phone by using the wrong one. The instructions in that post are not that clear for a first timer.
Thank you.

Go for method 2 in the thread mentioned... For ICS and JB, using Philz kernel to root is the same procedure. just read through it

Ohhh,
It's very clear. You have to flash right zip file according to your build number.
Ok
Download the zip file (link below)for your build XXLT4 and flash with stock recovery. After flashing you wil be rooted with PhilZ touch CWM...
And hit thanks button instead of saying that..

First off I'd like to say I've read the majority of the stock threads and there was plenty of info there but i couldn't come to a conclusion on how to restore back to my original firmware.
This ROM uses the Abyss kernel and how would i go abouts restoring it?
I had originally a firmware that was directly rootable and i followed a video by cursed4eva to root it.

Thank you dr.ketan...one more question:-
Now I revert back to stock ROM 2.3.5 and rooted. If I flash it to N7000DXLA1_N7000OLBKL2_XSE.zip, do I need to root again? Is there any method which can remain rooted after flash to stock ROM 2.3.6?
Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks alot, its work and now I'm on 2.3.6 stock ROM with rooted but when I use mobile odin pro to flash it that time, there isn't an option for me to select the 'Inject CWM Manager'...so now need to install again.
Any idea why don't have that option? Could it be the version of mobile odin?
Thank you.

Hi,
I'm very sorry if asking the noob question here as I'm new to android world.
What do you mean "using zergrush exploit"? To root? If yes then I know what you mean but I already rooted my device and flash the stock ROM 2.3.6 using mobile odin pro.
I just want to know why the my mobile odin pro (2.30)does not have the option called 'Inject CWM Manager'?
Thank you.
See change log
It is removed from Newer version of Mobile Odin pro.

You have to install CWM first. Which rom you are on ? Warning - Don't Ever Wipe on Stock ICS kernels)
Now Download the Files from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796217
Now follow these Steps :-

Then You can use Abyss 4.2 Redpill Original Logo to flash it.
Download it from here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362424
then follow the steps.
Reboot your phone into Recovery Mode.
Flash Abyss 4.2.
Reboot Recovery
Now flash rom
Flash Gapps
Full Wipe
Reboot System
to the OP.
PLEASE read up before you flash anything. make sure you understand it all before even attempting it because it is way too easy to brick your device.
If you have to ask what kernels and things are (in your 5 other threads you have started) then you are not ready to start flashing. Google the terms, read the FAQs and read the existing threads (read - dont post at the end of it without reading).
we are all here to help, but you HAVE to understand the basics yourself first.
come back to us in a few weeks when you understand how it all works, and we will guide you through the process.
Tim.
do not flash cm10, that is not for noobs, you will messup phone and come with annoying questions like this.
tip, read first post then thread fully twice, all info is always there
tip2 you probably have questions already answered so searchvfirst, not with tapatalk but from pc webbrowser. Search is better as wel as searching within thread
tip3 make it a habit to read sticky threads first, always because very important info is there
go read drketans thread sticky section of development. get used to flashing gb first

How do I fully root the Note?

Hey guys, Recently my dad got a Galaxy Note (N7000) and he has been complaining about The Note 2 getting jelly bean and stuff.
I already rooted it for him with Superuser.
I want to install a custom rom for him but I read a lot of topics saying that theres a very high chance on bricking your device using CWM and stuff.
If anyone could post a step by step guide, That would be super-appreciated, Thank you in advance.

He's already rooted and on stock kernel, if he tries to flash a ROM using above CWM.zip or does factory reset on it, he will brick his device.
Best advice is to go Here, download PhilZ-cwm6-DXLR5-OLB-2.7-signed.zip (that's the one that is compatible with his ROM) and put it on external SD card. From there, boot into recovery mode, and flash Philz kernel from external storage. (It's the only one that can be flashed from stock recovery). Then phone will be fully rooted with safe stock kernel and safe CWM recovery. Only then should any attempt be made to flash ROMs from recovery.
Re: CWM.zip READ THIS
Easiest for me is to flash ICS of your choice using Odin. Then flash speedmod-kernel-n7000-ics-k3-13-Odin.tar using Odin. Select PDA in Odin to use this file. Google it up. Double check that the file you get is for ICS N7000 and that it is the Odin version.
The end result will be a rooted ICS that you can safely wipe. It also has Clockworkmod installed. This allows you to flash custom JB roms. You may get a yellow triangle upon reboot. Just buy Triangle Away on Google Play store. Reset the counter using the app.
But flashing philz from stock doesn't result in triangle, raised counter and need for triangle away. Surely easier

If he has to ask what is xxLRG, thr i wont even advice him to flash custom roms.
Sell the Note and get your father a Note2. Chances are, he will complain of so many things "not normal" once in custom rom, etc.

[Q] N7000 JB 4.1.2 JZO54K problems

Hi all,
I've just flashed the stock rom from sammobile N7000UBLSF_N7000UUBLSF_TTT.zip, previously I was using the N7000XXLSZ_N7000OXALSZ_DBT.zip. Both has the same problems:
1. Can't use PhilZ kernel to root.
2. Notification Panel always became force close.
Anybody can help?

Of course you can flash and use Philz kernel. Obviously you aren't doing it in a correct way.
So please tell us how you installed the stock Roms and how you tried to install Philz kernel after this.
I used odin v3 to flash both files, stock rom and philz.

After installing the Rom with PC Odin copy the kernel (download the zip version) to your sd card and switch to the recovery.
Install the kernel there and reboot. After that you're rooted.
Please do not send me PM with questions like this - I do not like private tutorials - if you have a question post it in the forum - like you did here. Thanks.
So u mean i need to use custom recovery? Like CWM? Currently I'm using the stock recovery. If i use the custom, wouldn't there will be yellow triangle?
Sorry, i thought PM would be mor convinient for u cause the topics in the forum are added so quickly and u will find it hard to browse for my reply.

Nooo, I didn't say anything about custom recovery (what is this?). Flash PhilZ kernel in stock recovery. See his thread and follow the installation instructions. And start to read the tutorials - because learning by one question after the other will only result in stopping answering you.

[Q] Installing JellyMod

I apologies If I'm posting in the wrong section, I literally just signed up. I've rooted my device and have got the jellymod file downloaded, however I've looked at some tutorials (couldn't find one specifically for I9070) and they say to use ROM manager with clockwork mod however it seems my model isn't supported so I'm quite stuck, help please!

Do NOT use rom manager...can result in a brick. After you've rooted, install a custom kernel with custom recovery and then just flash the jellymod using custom recovery after placing it in the ext sd card..

Go with CoCore..the same which is in the guide.. i believe that is 5.0 version.. you can update it later to 5.6 or 6.0 if you want to..
Edit- the link is to the main cocore thread.. so you can go ahead and install the latest i.e 6.0 with either twrp or cwm recovery..
