[Q] JB 4.3.1 - edit RTSP / HTTP proxies - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Just a quick question.
I just moved from an Evo 3D to a Sprint HTC One, and previously in GB and ICS, I had to nuke out the Sprint RTSP / HTTP proxies since they were godawful and I wanted better speed.
I can't seem to find where in JB the RTSP / HTTP proxy settings are. I'm not talking about for WiFi - I'm worried about GSM / CDMA / WCDMA / LTE. It's rooted, S-OFF'd, and SIM-unlocked, so I don't doubt that I can get to what I need to to get this done.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I should clarify - I'm running an AOSP ROM and really don't want to have to go back to Sense, as PACman is too addictively good to lose.
For some reason, MSL Reader won't pull my MSL either; it claims that it's not a CDMA device, even though it's on CDMA only ATM and the LTE SIM is ejected.

Double-post. Sorry.

you cant modify this on AOSP, you need to make a backup of your rom, flash a sense rom, dial ##data#, enter edit mode, enter MSL (sprint should give it to you), and you will see an option somewhere in there to change those settings.....then simply restore your backup you made, the settings will stick....

##775# manual prl update not working after 2.31.651.7 update

Just as the thread title states. Is this a bug, or did sprint remove this option?
Honestly, it is probably part of the dialer lag fix. The AOSP dialer did not allow ## codes, and it looks like the HTC dialer was patched in the new fix. I do not know if you could use the old dialer (with enabled ## codes) or if the dialer lag would resurface as a result. I have been thinking about this dilemma for a day now.
1. Use old dialer with lag but with ## codes, or
2. Use new dialer without lag and without ## codes.
I will probably opt for the first option, now the test is to see if the old dialer can just be dropped in and if the ## codes were just removed from the dialer and not anywhere else. I might try this in the next hour or so...or if anyone else wants to take a crack, use the .6 HTCDialer instead of .7 and see what happens.
another reason i will not install this update, no need for it. some of the recent prl's really suck and give horrid signal.

im on alltel and just did ruu to update from alltel. the ##775# still works for me i just dont no where to put the prl i downloaded for it to find. here is a link of prl downloads for alltel i have not looked to see if they have sprint prl or not
http://www.the-answerman.com/sidlist/prl/index.asp
if any one can tell me where to place the prl it looks like 40062.prl thanks for any info.
i got it had to put /sdcard/40065.prl and it found it and rebooting now.
OK guys,the new number for Sprint is ##DATA#,it is no longer ##737# or whatever,I just tried it tonight and it worked like a charm,give it a try on your Hero's!
##3282# is for your data profile and evdo settings, and has nothing to do with the prl so why would you bump this thread for that.
Because his name is Andy!
Hey that is correct,that's my bad,I caught it on another android thread and have been searching and searching and searching trying to figure out how to manually install the new PRL. I've downgraded to nfx Rom with Android 2.1-update 1 from Android 2.3.4 and it shows I'm running PRI Version 2.20_003 and PRL Version 03472. I go to Menu>Settings>About Phone>System Updates>Update PRL and >Update Profile. It is not letting me update them,is there any way to go in and install the new PRL manually like pushing it into the settings or system via ADB or can we do it through Terminal or anything? Any help is greatly appreciated guys!

[MOD] 4G and MMS on O3D roms

Ive been running the O3D 10j firmware for a couple days now, havent upgraded to 10k yet but heres something to help out with mms/4g and how I got them working.
MMS is as simple as changing the apn. For whatever reason trying to change the default apn has been spotty for me, so what I do is just create a new apn with the following information:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username:[email protected]
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
Now save that and select it as your default. mms should now be working. For whatever reason that is the only ATT apn info I could get to work with mms. If I try to use any other configuration for ATT I lose mms functionality. Which was frustrating because I kept copying the apn off my other ATT phones and mms would not work. Neither my Aria nor my Captivate need the password but apparently this phone NEEDS that password to get mms on P920 roms...
4G is a little more complicated and, at the moment, has a trade-off. So from here you have to make a decision, because I have as of yet been able to fix this issue. But you have to choose to either have 4G and use a 3rd party dialer/contacts app OR you can keep the default apps and not have 4g. You're call but here how its done. Go into /system/etc/flex/flex.xml and change it to read like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Flexinfo>
<Flexinfo
FLEX_COUNTRY_CODE="US"
FLEX_OPERATOR_CODE="ATT"
FLEX_MCC_CODE="310"
FLEX_MNC_CODE="410"
FLEX_REGION_CODE="0"
FLEX_SIMLOCK_ON="0"
FLEX_MODEL_CODE="0" />
</Flexinfo>
Now you should be getting the H+ symbol in the notification bar AND the up/down arrows. If you dont have the arrows then your apn is set incorrectly. If you dont have the H+ then you messed up in the flex.xml file.
Some notes:
Ive tried replacing the default Phone.apk/Contacts.apk with their equivalents from aosp roms, O3D roms, and Thrill roms. None of them have any affect on the issue. And trying to change the TelephonyProvider.apk has only resulted in frequent FC's. I can only assume its a framework issue but since I use a 3rd party dialer anyways Im not inclined to look into it.
I removed the default Contacts.apk because I got the occasional FC when ending a phone call. Removing it has no effect on anything since you cant use the default contacts app with the above 4G method. You have to keep the stock Phone.apk or you will lose the ability to make changes to your apn. It does not however affect your ability to make/receive calls with a 3rd party app. ContactsProvider.apk is also required or you wont be able to sync contacts to your phone.
Speaking of 3rd party dialers, Ive tested GoContacts and DialerOne so far and both work with no issues what so ever and have built in contacts functionality. Im going to assume there are many more that work as well.
So now theres really no excuse not to dive into the wide world of O3D roms!
EDIT: Just remembered that the time will be wrong after this too. Im trying to remember what I did to fix that. In the mean time you can go to menu>settings>Date & Time> and manually set the time. Its just that the GMT is being calculated incorrectly for each timezone so it gets the hour wrong so you need to set it manually. The minutes are correct though, you dont need to mess with those.
That's awesome news callmearia! Much appreciation for all the hard work you put in to get this working. Ill try this out 2nite when i get home. Thanks again

Have you tried also doing the telephony.apk? I noticed the Thrill and O3D have different sized telephony.apk sizes by a significant amount. I will try and test myself sometime tomorrow or Monday depending on my schedule.

3g SHOULD just work. But if not then go into your stock rom and copy the contents of /system/etc/flex/flex.xml and oaste them into the same file on your o3d rom. You might also want to get the stock apn settings off your phone to setup an apn on your o3d rom. Just follow the directions from the original post. I would recommend trying to change the apn first an then if that doesnt work go ahead try modifying your flex.xml file necuse the latter can cause issues.

The apn wont add the h+. That's where the flex.xml comes in. The apn is just for mms.
I have ThaiZ booted right now but with Franlovs kernel and the only time I get a fc is if I try to use the stock dialer or contacts app. Is that what you're doing or are the fcs happening all the time? This is why the 3rd party dialer/contact app is required.

[Q] SCH-i800 [Phone Enable]

I really hate to start this back up about enabling phone support on sch-i800. But the lack of post/info about it is very annoying. We know that hardware is there to make it work. But how far is the software limiting us on this fact? I myself have mine on a voice plan with Page Plus and could in theory make call's if I can get the tab to support it. I have made it as far to get the Tab it self activated and programmed onto Page Plus, and Framework-res.apk edit for the dialer to show. But when it trys to call out it just shut's the call down and I'm back at the dialer. If anyone could shed a little light my way I would be grateful. Anymore apk's i should edit? more in the framework somewhere? Any info guys ? I have full service and 3g perfect on this thing.
CM10 with dialer from framework edit.

Hey Haxz...I grabbed just a 3rd party dialer..and it tries to make a call..and closes...I was wondering if you ever found a way in to Diag Mode on CM10 so edits can be done such as web settings and prl updates with qpst...I have mine running Cricket...Thanks..
Actually I was able to get into diag mode using a command line in terminal emulator. Looks like original post was by autoprime I think, so thanks to him. This line worked for me. echo MODEM USB > /sys/class/sec/switch/usb_sel. I was running cm9 roms also.

I found 2 scripts in the Sprint section that click click and you can switch between PDA and Modem..But one thing....I can get web settings to work under GB but no ICS/Jelly Bean Roms will work with Data period..I have re-checked the settings dozens of times..and nothing...One thing just in case you need the info...To change APN settings...I had to use the Sprint modem file...If you try to write in qpst with the Verizon modem file the settings won't take..Thanks for the response on it...
This thread is a few months old but I wanted to post that apparently the trick to getting voice back is to replace the modem.bin from a samsung fascinate because it's the same dialer hardware.
I haven't done this as it's beyond my abilities but I've read it elsewhere.
If anyone successfully tests this, perhaps they can make a clockworkmod zip file that we can flash over cm10.1

SIP account details is missing "Authentication Username"

I have a Sprint HTC One and asked this question in my phone's forum but have not gotten any answer yet. Part of the question is actually directed to owners of the international HTC One so I figured I'd post my question directly in this forum.
On the Sprint version of the HTC One, if you go under Settings-> Call ->Accounts and try to add a SIP account for internet calling, the setting "Authentication username" is MIA.
This setting is required in order to get the SIP account setup properly. Without it, I keep getting the "Authentication failed" error. This very setting is available on my Nexus 4. However, my N4 is running 4.2.2. So I'm not sure whether the root of the issue is Android 4.1.2 or is this an HTC Sense issue.
I called HTC this morning and they were not very helpful in the sense that the rep did not know much about this whole internet calling thing. He looked at multiple other HTC devices and none had the setting so he thinks that it is either not required, or the carrier decided to have it removed. However, he only had carrier versions, and did not have the international version, or the developer edition. My guess is that the issue is present on all the Sense versions of android 4.1.2, or Android 4.1.2 for that matter.
However, I do not have the international HTC One or the developer edition to verify. So can anyone with an HTC developer edition, and/or the regular international version take a look at the settings available on their phone and tell me whether the "Authentication username" setting is present? See the screenshots of the SIP account details screen I'm talking about. You will notice that the setting I'm inquiring about is not present (on my phone that is).
If your phone is also missing the setting, can anyone with knowledge on this setting tell me whether they've been able to setup a SIP account without any issue (and w/o this setting) using the android native SIP account settings? If so how did you workaround the missing setting?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Can anyone please take a look in the SIP Account settings details and tell me if they are also missing the Authentication Username setting? That's all I need at the moment in order to confirm that the fact that my phone is missing the setting has nothing to do with the carrier, but rather HTC and/or Android 4.1.2.
Thanks!

Thanks fridgeman. That helps a lot. At least I know it's not Sprint who had it removed. Now I guess all I need to find out is whether the problem is in Android 4.1.2 or whether HTC created it when they baked Sense into AOSP. That's going to be a much harder task as I assume all N4 and GNex are now running 4.2.2.
One thing you could do though is update the thread once the 4.2.2. Sense OTA update rolls out on your phone. It'll get on your phone a good 5-6+ months earlier than on mine (if not more), so if the setting is still missing, we can officially blame it on HTC.
Thanks again!

Verizon users what's your APN setting for MMS?

I am having MMS issues where I can't get MMS and I have looked and looked for correct APN for Verizon and LP. I am still on 502 but I will like to know what are the settings in your APN that you are using there seem to be more than the ONE that I have...mine looks like pic but I still don't have full success..

From my understanding you can't set apn's on verizon they are auto programmed by the sim card. As for mms issues do you by chance have moab adblocker installed if so you need to add mms.vtext.com to your whitelist in adblocker. I had the same issues and doing this solved them. Hope this helps you out.

Thx for this info. I do run AdFree which I use in my custom rooted rom. I never thought to look there not sure if adfree could be part the issue.
I was going to ask if stock, but once my VZ N6 and all those others came with 5.1 installed already, it provides the answer.
When I was on FML, zzpianoman made this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58148948&postcount=3023
Flash it in recovery and let us know if it makes it better, it's worked for plenty of others, myself included, though I no longer need on my N6 stock (for the moment).
