It's starting to get dirty on the sides. How do I clean it and make it white again? Without messing up the phone.

Its a hazardous process that includes high speed driving, code names, beautiful women, sex, drugs, lots more sex and drugs, defusing bombs, shooting people and a trip to Walmart to buy one of these:

Seriously those things are amazing. ^^^
No. I don't recommend anything with bleach. Rubbing alcohol aka isopropyl
Alcohol works wonders. Face pads will work great as well. Safe, effective, and hell kills germs.

So rubbing alcohol is what's best to use? It won't mess up the phone?
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk
It shouldn't. Magic Erasers work great at cleaning things too but you should be warned, they are essentially very very very fine sandpaper. Too much rubbing and you'll be taking off more than dirt.

I have the woven white Moto X and last night I got a little crazy with it at a party...woke up and my phone was black with soot, grease, and dirt...when I saw this the first thing I did was just wipe off as much of it as I could with a Kleenex but it still had a lot of black smudges all around the phone...I didn't bother trying to get rid of this because i had to get to work. But when i got home a couple hours ago I emptied some bottled distilled water into a bowl, dipped a paper towel into the water and used it to wipe the rest off...worked perfectly! Phone is as white as new! Also, I used distilled water because pure water is not conductive just in case any of my nano coating is flawed

^^^ He just scratched off the paint with his fingernail or a small flat head, it was started on the captivate as a joke mod then got big lol.
I did it with a razor and went over it with nail polish remover and will soon go over it with an abrasive, it left no scratches and looked amazing, but with one wrong turn or too much force, you could put a hefty scratch upon the screen or the very top.
The mythical Silver Speaker has returned. I remember the commotion in the captivate thread.

Nice. I like it.
Just a little tip for others, get some of the blue maskers tape and mask off around the speaker first. That should help keep the surrounding area a little safer from scratching etc. Use the blue cause it doesn't leave the residue behind.

I managed to make it 2 weeks unscathed with great care but I finally fell victim to a few scratches in the corners on the front and back and a chip in the middle (Just my luck, the case arrives today as well '-.-). Sure I heard the warnings of it being slippery but I guess I was surrounded by level surfaces all the time..Nonetheless while turning into a parking lot at a decent speed, my poor nexus leaped out of the cupholder like a bar of soap and onto the floor. Luckily, I managed to both grab it without holding up traffic or completely destroying the screen by stepping on it/dragging it too much across the floor trying to retrieve it. I guess this experience is motivation enough to keep my car cleaner >_>. My pure android experience isn't completely ruined but you can see the scratches if you look hard enough...Perfectionists be further warned.

I decided to go with a diztronic tpu like I did on my galaxy s2 and it will be waiting for me when I get off work. It should serve me pretty well, I'm not very accident prone with my electronics...This however was a very unfortunate freak accident.
This has been mentioned a few times in the various review & first impression threads. No need to have another discussion about this.

Apparently, my headphone jack broke halfway and I had to open up the flex. This is some of its pictures. It's a one piece credit card slide method; however, I used something much slimmer and harder (metal) to slide it open. You have to start at the top corners and go downward. If you feel like it's going to break, it will break. Be gentle or you will break some tabs.
Code:
DISCLAIMER: I am not liable for poor surgeon hands. If you break it or whatever happens, not my fault bro.

I liked the One X a lot when I had it which had the white back and mostly black front. Also liked the white G nex in the same style. I dont like phones with all white fronts so i would never buy one as is but white back black front is appealing to me. Carbon fiber is too boy racer for me. Never really liked the look only its purpose.

We all want to take a Galaxy S5 and start washing it under the sink. Okay, fine.
But please remember to not use any detergents, window cleaner or any other chemicals. Use only water and a soft terry cloth towel. The oleophobic coating on your screen can be damaged by soaps. This means your screen will show fingerprints much sooner than it would by simply wearing out over time.
You can re-apply an oleophobic coating using 3rd party solutions such as that found on Amazon. But most/all 3rd party oleophobic coatings have mixed reviews.
So, no soap for your S5!
Did you really create a thread for this? Jesus talk about upping a post count. Nobody here wants to go wash their phone with soap...

I've seen it mentioned by 5-10 different posters so far.
It's a water resistant phone.
Heck, I know I'm going to do it (but without soap). hahah
But I'm glad you were able to increase your post count by finding something to ***** about. :good:

You should down your post count buddy, it's not clear for everyone just what kind of liquids the S5 is resistant against.
Yes. you are right. Sometime i see some technician use liquid in on phone.. Thanks for suggestion..
I appreciated the info! Handy to know.

I have a whole stack of dedicated phone cleaning wipes which I use once every month to clean dust/grease off my phone. I have used them on my tablets bare screen and so far no ill effects after over a year of use.

If you have a case on the phone does that matter? In terms of water-resistance.

NO, but its important to check to make sure the backing is secured correctly. With a case you might not even know it came undone.
Hello everyone.
I got my phone 6 months now,my camera was good as far as I noticed. But this summer I went to camp on the beach and after I came back I noticed that the pictures I took with my phone doesnt look well,I cleaned the lens more than onces.but no result.
I must say, that I swimed with my phone and maybe be went for more than 1m underwater. So maybe the pressure causes the problem ?
If anyone has similar problem or know what exacly the problem is please let me know.
Here are some pictures taken with my phone after the problem.

Thank you and have a good day !
??Holy haze Batman! That looks like a turtle dove crapped on your camera lens!
But in all seriousness, if you were at the beach, chance are that your lense is scuffed from being in your pocket or what not while there was sand in there. It happened to my wife. Sand is massively pervasive. It gets everywhere and fast.
Think about it. When you got back from the beach. Did not 10lbs of sand fall from your but crack in the shower?
Also, if it was a ocean beach, the salt in the air can get behind the lense and cause this. Though, I don't believe that is a common occurrence.

LOL,thanks for your reply mate.
Yeah,I guess you're right with the salt thing.I were there for 20 days which quit enough.
Since,I think I found what the problem is,what about the solution ?
Should I open it and clean the lens. If this is the case, any advances how to do so ? Because I have never open it before and I dont want to mess it up of course.
