Thanks! Your method is actually easier than I thought it would be. It's almost a natural way to hold the watch as you snap. Cool.

REQ : loudspeaker App/tweak for S730

If some of the app programmers in here are looking for an idea to an app/tweak for the S730 (or other phones), i have a suggestion :
It would be such a cool feature if, when you are talking on the phone normally and you decide to slide out the qwerty keyboard the phone automaticly puts the call on loudspeaker, and when you slide the qwerty keyboard back in it automaticlly goes back to 'normal' phone mode.
Fx. when you are driving and need to put in on loudspeaker its easier to slide out the keuboard. Or if you want to add an appointment or contact while talking to someone its way easier to just slide out the keyboard and start typing.
I really hope someone can code such an app. I would be a very happy little piggy
Is it even possible to mske such an app?
I dont wanna go around hoping for it if it's not possible
Same for Tilt. It can really be a bugger to answer. Sliding back to vertical seems to put caller on hold. Very dangerous to answer in car w/o bluetooth.
there's clearly something being called when you open the phone. it's a matter of figuring out what, putting a watch on it; then, when activated, making the necessary reg changes/api calls to do whatever you want. Obviously. Too bad I don't have a working version of Visual Studio.

Sure thing. Actually I had installed it on Vista. Something happened (I think with an SP upgrade), and it no longer starts; and I can not uninstall it.
Lovely, Vista. Lovely.
It's pretty easy to be notified when keyboard is out and incoming call is detected.. I guess, the harder part is to programmatically switch on loud speaker (without simulating menu presses). But, maybe it's easy, i've not touch the phone or RIL API yet..
Well i really hope that you Saman-cz or bigflavor or someone else could program it. It would be really cool. I used to have it on my Nokia Communicator and it was a great feature that i used a lot.
If someone makes it for the S730 would it work on other slide out smartphone as well?
just found out:
Hit Green Call button "long" (hold it for about two seconds) while in a call and it will toggle speakerphone.
great hint. thanks
Cool. Not as good as the keyboard app , but very very usefull. Thanks.

Official Keyboard Sliding Sounds READ!!

I know we have a bunch of threads for sliding sounds with transformers, mario, etc. I was thinking to start one whole new thread for Sliding Sounds. I am going to be doing a video and post it on Youtube that shows how to create custom sliding sounds from scratch using sound bytes collected from the internet. It will be a full tutorial. I am also willing to do phone support for people who are better with directions when spoken to them. I will only charge 1usd via paypal and that will be donated to this forum. Any slide sounds you guys wants. PM Me i'll get the sound files you request and we can walk through creating the custom slide sounds.
I will also be making .CAB files for custom slide sounds. Put in your requests guys.
How about a nice exotic car starting up and rev?
this one is gonna be good...I have been waiting to learn how to do this....I have seen other posts describing how to do it, but I always think im gonna mess up my phone. thanks can't wait!
Hey Guys,
Just got done making a sliding sound. It's a dodge viper starting up, when you close it drives away so beautifully. This is the first cab I ever made!!! I'm a pretty smart guy so don't worry guys it's perfectly safe. I tested it on my device and it works flawlessly. Heres the CAB file. Keep sending me your requests and i'll make some more CAB files. YOUTUBE video coming soon. I'll show you guys how to manually go into REGISTRY and make your own custom sounds. Hope you guys enjoy it.
SOUNDS GREAT! Thanks mate!
I have a REALLY DIFFICULT one for you. If you can find this one..you're a STUD.
Samurai Sword going out of the sheath and of course going back in.
1. a cute anime girl giggling would be cool. Nothing too loud.
2. The noise made in a kung fu movie when someone gets his. (I think it's wood being smacked together)
3. someone saying " oooooohh aahhhh" like they are envious of the super bombass kaiser.

HAHA! Good ones!
I should have those done by tonight when i get home from work.
right now i'm working on a simpsons sliding sounds. When you slide it out you hear Homer screaming, when you slide it shut you hear Bart laughing. Should be done soon. I'll upload the files tonight when I get home.
One more. How about a turbo spooling for open...then a blow off valve (pssssssh!!!) for the close?
If you need...I have the BOV sound....just not the turbo spooling (high pitched whine ascending)
this looks like a great option for those too worried about messing about with the registry.
Many thanks.
Great news guys. Ok pardon my tardiness but I work full-time as well as school full-time. Ok guys I have a set of instructions you guys must do to install my cabs.
Step 1: open you file explorer, can be found in your start menu or in the programs list.
Step 2: go into the windows folder
Step 3: Located the files called 3_in.wav, 3_out.wav, 4_in.wav, 4_out.wav Keep doing until you are done. If you don't see them then you are ready to move to step 4
Delete them, it will delete the current custom sliding sounds you have on your device and just keep the default ones such as xylophone, piano, and the other one.
Step 4: After you delete said files drag the folder with the SLIDING SOUNDS CABS into either your Storage card or Device, via activesync or emailing them to yourself as an attachment from your computer.
**** For advanced users who have PHM registry editor or another Registry Editor program. Navigate to HKLM, Software, HTC, Sliding Sounds, Delete Keys 3 through whatever.*****
Step 5: Install the Sliding Sounds in number order as I have numbered them 0-5 Make sure they are in number order. They will overwrite those crappy sliding sounds that come with the phone.
the mario when he gets a mushroom and then loses (or gets smaller again).
Ok guys withough further ado (did i spell that right) I present sliding sounds pack 1. This pack includes:
Dodge Viper, starting up and driving away
Starcraft Siege Tank, Transforming and going back to normal (as requested, i got your back dude), Sword Play, Sword Noise and then the sound of the sword clashing with another, Wood, Sound of wood doing what would does I guess, Jet, A jet engine starting up and then Revving, Scooby Doo, Scoobys Laugh and then when he says Duh! Hope you guys enjoy them, I put some time into these. I initially said 1 dollar for sliding sound but I hope you guys will donate to this great site, as I will too. Damn Bank Authorization!!
Tomorrow I will upload Sliding sounds 6-10
They will include:
Homer Simpson Screaming when you open the phone , And Bart laughing when you close the phone
the other 3 will be open to suggestions so start poaring them in people.
Oh yeah if you guys don't want to lose the current custom sliding sounds you have in your phone, tell me which ones you will be losing in exchange for installing my cabs and I will include it in a future Sliding Sound Pack.
ALL CABS ARE WORKING 100 PERCENT FULLY TESTED.
Great work man!

Question:
You mentioned above, I have to install the files in order 0-5 . How about I just want to use one of them , number 5 , in this case. Can I just go straight to install it and skip the other ?
OK, thats great. I have a suggestion, what about some xxx sounds. U know, something like: uhh, ahh from xxx-films. That would be funny.

Diamond novice needs your help... PLS!!!

After having a Touch a few months back, i thought the Diamond would be a breeze. NO such luck in my experience.
For example. On the main home screen. How do you edit that so it's just the clock or, to add more to the list that currently shows calendar and call history? I can't find any way to do this so if you can enlighten me, i'd really appreciate it.
What about when texting? Is there any way to make the keypad a different size? Personally i can't find a way to edit that. It's annoying that after adding your contacts name, you seemingly have 90% of the screen filled with the entry system and you have to mess about to get to the message section of the screen. Guessing i've missed something somewhere!
Zooming in on a photo... how is that done? Orange's CD ROM User Manual is vague to say the least so if you can assist here to, please do.
This thread could become a handy hints and tips chart for beginners if all feedback is good so if you have a question or some simple advice for settings and the way to go around things, chuck a note in and someone will be very happy to see the reply
1) Well if u flick ur finger in an upward motion on the home screen u'll notice the clock becoming smaller and will list all the list all ur appointments from ur calendar...
2) If u are not satisfied in the HTC Keyboard, u will need to look into other keyboards my fav personally is Touchpal from Cootek and there is even resco keyboard which is pretty gud.
3) You can only zoom in a picture when u r in the HTC Album, in order to zoom you will need to rotate your finger clockwise or anti-clockwise i am always forget which is for zooming so u will need chk tht out...
I hope these tips helps u out....

Hmmmmmm, i see. Shame that somehow we can't take the good things from the Touch like the Home screen as standard and have them in the 3D instead. If any cab compilers are reading this, maybe it's something that could be done?
Along those lines, maybe someone could rip out the original texting keyboard, the smaller more compact one... better for stylus use and enables you to see more screen. I HATE the big finger pad they've put on the Diamond. Is is really necessary to have it that big? Surely if you're going to use the stylus (i mean if HTC didn't want us to use one, then ALL the functions and menus would be larger, yes?), then why provide us with one in the first place?!?!!

There are multiple SIPs already built into the Diamond. Holding your finger or stylus on the small arrow next to the keypad button when input is allowed will display the menu, from there you can select the Windows SIP which is tiny and stylus friendly...
Reading the manual is a good idea before posting dude. Or even a search

Oh and for the record Mr Read-The-Text-Provided (lol)... did i not say this? ---> Orange's CD ROM User Manual is vague to say the least so if you can assist here to, please do.
Hmmmmm, i think i did!
Ok... answer this one then. Every other HTC phone i have had has done this but not on the Diamond. When you receive a simple thing like an mms or a text, the screen lights to give a clue in case you never heard the message laert. How you you activate THAT cus i'm not seeing how it'ds done anywhere.
Clues please?
I agree - the 'manual/instructions' Orange sent were non-existent and as a first time PPC user I was totally lost until I had a nosey around here and to be fair am still learning all what this phone can do!

HTC want a good kicking if you ask me. The thing as I see it is this. If they'd have kept the basics as it was on the Kaiser (Tytn II) and THEN added the 3D, all would have been superb.

Use a simple but great app named Answerkeys Disabler (consumes like 1kb of memory), or disable the HTC phone skin (frees 10MB of memory but disables video calling.)

Change key click sound

hey guys, I really don't like the keyclick sound that is Default for the Captivate. I don't want to turn it off, I would like to find/use a replacement.
Can anyone tell me how to replace this sound file? Also were is a good place to find replacements?
I can tell you how, but not where to find a replacement.
1) Grab a terminal emulator or Root Explorer (I prefer Root Explorer myself for this one).
2) Navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
3) If I'm correct in assuming that you mean the keyclick sound from browsing around menus and such in the phone then the file you want is "Effect_Tick.ogg"
4) Copy it to your sd card, and then to your computer and edit/replace it as you see fit. Just make sure it's the same audio length as the old one. Save it as an .ogg file or it won't work on the phone.
5) When putting it back onto the phone, make sure you make a BACKUP of the old one. Just rename the one that's already there with a ".bak" at the end. Then paste in your editing file.
6) Reboot and test it out.
Hope that works. I made that up off the top of my head cause I'm not about to try it out myself cause I turned the sound off in the settings. But it should work as that's the usual method of replacing any file on the phone. Good luck, let me know how it works out for you.
You are the man!!! That worked fantastic! I wasn't actually looking for the Effect_Tick, it was the TW_Touch sound that I wanted to replace, I found it in the folder by listening to them and figuring out which one it was.
THank you again, at least I know how to change something next time if needed
Wow, thank both of you. Never thought of changing the sound, but that would be hilarious to have a pew or pow sound. Think ofbeing a kid with two army men. Thanks guys.

Glad I could help. Also, FWIW, TW_Touch.ogg and Effect_Tick.ogg are the same sound. The only difference is the name, which actually makes TW_Touch a few bytes bigger.

Still trying to find some good ones. I am currently using the SIP.ogg sound found in the same folder as the others. Its more of a soft click sound. I am still looking for a really nice replacement though, so if anyone of you find one please share, as I will do the same.
You know the keyboard isn't making a click sound with Cog Rom. I wonder if its turned off somewhere in the ROM because I have keyboard clicks turned on but hear nothing.
I like to have regular dial tone for the dial key pad. Know how to fix this?
They are regular. The sound the same as every other phone I've used.
What do you really mean?

I would try and get them for you, but I haven't the slightest clue on how to convert the .caf file the iPhone uses to .ogg for Android. But looking around, there are some cool mods for dial tones out there. I found this one and now I want to do it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J4RfiTi08Q

I FOUND A WAY!!!!
If anyone can provide with me a copy of the iPhones dial tone sounds, I can format them for our Captivates. Based off of what I'm seeing from my iTouch, the directory layout should be /System/Library/Audio/UISounds. I need all the files that start with dtmf. There should be 12 files in total.
Edit: I did the Daft Punk mod to my phone and it works great! I'm attaching the zip with the .ogg files inside and already renamed so you can just drop them on the phone. Remember to back up the original!

HA. Wrong. These are in iPhone format and not for our phones. My zipfile is for our phones.
I was just linking to the sounds you were looking for.
Anyhoo for some reason my keys don't make any sounds when i press them, any idea why? Would love to replace the stock sounds with the daft punk ones.
edit: n/m fixed that, now to load those daft punk sounds
Beat me to the answer, it's a seperate setting in the Sounds Menu. But now you know that yourself. I'm probably going to make a tutorial thread for this elsewhere in the forums in case anybody else is interested
The sounds seem to be mixed up, they don't match the keys in the video, seems like he rearranged them after posting that zip file. Trying to sort them now but its a pita since mpc barely plays them.
I know what you mean. I didn't bother trying to put them in the right order. It's just fun trying to play the song.
And smeltn, I'm writing up my tutorial on how to change the dial tone sounds and whatnot now and I'm giving you credit for the idea. Cause if not for you, I wouldn't have even bothered to do any of this.
