Like in topic. The worse thing in S2 for me is it's terrible video performance. I got fujitsu chip, and there is some solution to improve framerate (focus issue) but the cost is lack of light diode, which I cannot loose. So here come's my question - is it worth moving into Note? I now there are some advantages /dis, I'm well aware of all of this. But it's hard to find any complaints for both S2 and Note camera - what doesn't acctually mean that there is nothing to complain about. Maybe just that some people doesn't find that so crucial for their phone. I do, so please help me If I see advertise saying 1080p 30fps = thats what I assume to have. Samsung Wave made better quality movies than my current S2. Maybe it's caused by this particular model, it's quite possible I think, but I just want to know if it's worth moving further into galaxy family, or maybe to switch to another company...
thx in advance.
Yes same issues, its all about the luck of the draw on which camera module you get. There was a thread about that here.
I decided to go on the black side of power, and get one Note. How can I see if seller offers Note that is damaged due to it's camera chip? Is there simple instruction I could ask the seller to follow to give me information I need? Please help me not to waste 430euro
Have 4 Notes and they all shoot great pics/movies. Earl seems to think every Note has a defect.
any way to check the hardware chip + firmware on note? I'm in the middle of bargain talk with seller
any1? i'm really in need here ;(

Yeah, keep asking him why he's still around spreading negativity, since he reputedly sold his Note, but no reply. Guess he likes trolling...

do you mean by that, that Note is free of those problems that some of S2 had/has?
well my note takes nice pics and videos, but the best recording mode for samsung galaxy note ( and i think for s2 either) is 720p, ive read in a review that in 1080p the light is different, more bright or something like that and the picture is "stretching" when you move your phone more in 1080p than in 720p( and thats true), i think that video is pretty smooth, but camera in s2 and note is almost the same, for phone i think its enough
Just posting to see if any of our QUALCOMM variants are experiencing what the International versions are. Mine is working amazingly well no sign of an issue yet. Anyone else facing anything like what's going on with the exynos? I'm optimistic yet cautious about ours.

Yes your thread is vague and honestly simply go through the forum and see the threads of people complaining. Not sure why you would create a new thread for this or make it more specific. IJS
First off no need to be rude. Second I'm not sure why you care so much about a question I asked must be keeping you up at night so I apologize for that...... I was talking about the using the phone for a few days and it becoming a brick like several international versions are experiencing. But thanks for showing me how rude everyone can be at 8:50am...
Probably quiet few people on t-mo forum don't frequent international forum, myself included, so may not be aware of specific issues there, so lets all come down and have intelligent conversation, since IMO OP question is legit as long as it is properly explained. Sooo, as far as I know there were few complains about lagging, poor battery life and couple QC issues , which BTW none of them I experienced. Personally I have not seen any brick post on this forum, which is strange since we already have root and there is plenty of people who can't follow simple directions, sometimes myself included. Anyway I wouldn't worry too much, phone is on warranty and there will always be some quality control issues. Are you sure those are not user related, like trying to root without a clue, or taking underwater photography on your scuba dive? People don't always tell whole story. If you don't have N7 yet, wait until dust clears, if you do, just enjoy it, life's too short.

It's not a matter of rude, mate. There's multiple things that your cryptic "same prob as intl versions" could be...a little more clarity is all that was needed...

But to answer, that's a Exynos issue thus far, and nitric had been reported for Qualcomm models

Exactly, no rudeness seen in this thread its just if you're going to ask a question at least have it make sense. With further explanation from other parties it seems we now may have a better understanding of what OP originally meant to say. :good:
It appears that the problem starts after the first OTA update samsung released from what I have read. I hope if Tmobile releases it, it will be a later build if infact the software is too blame. I'm usually first to update but I may play it safe and wait a day or so when it's released to us. And in regards to the user error in regards to the problem. The phone apparently will start to freeze and reboot and then get stuck in reboot cycles and when you attempt a factory reset in the OS or recovery the phone becomes unusable. Samsung isn't sure of its hardware or software yet. That's why I'm optimistic but cautious about ours.
Good to know, if that's the case we could postpone updates and see if any problems are reported. It wouldn't be first time updates create more problems than fixes. Few yrs ago I updated my Asus computer BIOS, despite reading other people having problem (I assumed user errors). It took me 1 week and $20 hardware just to boot up, never mind countless hours of Google search, the BIOS was completely hosed on certain hardware, which I happened to have. Never bricked the phone with updates yet, but more often than not, stuff stops working the way it should, so waiting few days may be best option. Love the phone, would hate to loose it even for few days.
Well samsung had stopped shipping the note 7 due to them needing more "quality control testing" havent said why yet or what markets they are delayed in.
The article I read said Samsung stops shipping in Korea, no official reason given, except better QC, so everything else could be speculation which for now seems to point to battery as culprit. My phone gets pretty hot, when on fast charge, so I disabled it for now. But I'm thinking if the connection is not perfect, it could cause problems. I think the phone is charging at something over 10 Watts, my soldering iron is 30W.
i've been very happy with my note 7 so far. i luckily havent come across any of the issues some other ppl in this forum have. i did read about the international note 7 bricking randomly and not being able to factory restore it. but there havent been any reports of the qualcomm version doing that. so the exynos is faster and less lag but there's a chance of a random brick and the qualcomm doesnt brick but many complaints about ui lag. seems samsung hasnt been able to get either right so far. it's definitely a QC issue because it's random units these things are happening to. every manufacturing process has some QC issues come up but they want to keep that below a certain percentage. this seems to be above that percentage.

Well i have 7 days to exchange in store before I need one shipped so I'm hopeful it will last haha. On the topic of lag I don't notice alot in fact I think it does alot of things faster then my s7 edge for example when I start up I can enter my pin right away my s7 edge didn't even register a keypress for quite a few seconds after it popped up. This I can get into the phone in no time.
I'm experiencing the below with my TMO | Onyx black | Made in China (apparently there are 3 countries making them, china, korea, vietnam)
Running hot for no reason
Poor battery life
UI lag
Poor touch screen sensitivity - 1 in 5 key presses when typing is lost and other various touch recognition drop outs
If it's running hot, very possible some software crashed and its looping. First thing I would do is restart, then check battery screen to see what using it the most, maybe download something like 3C toolbox for better picture. Just make sure you're not in some particular spot where reception is spotty and it constantly goes in and out of network or keep switching towers.
Well though it doesn't sound like ours will be part of it I just read that Samsung will be recalling the note 7 in several markets due to a faulty battery used during manufacturing. Though more information will be provided in the next few days from Samsung. http://www.sammobile.com/2016/09/01/galaxy-note-7-recall-will-reportedly-be-announced-soon/
If the battery was the issue, it would be so much simpler on the older, non sealed models like S5, which was water proof and had easy battery access. All would they had to do is mail new batt. to customers. Maybe some good comes out of this, like easy to open back in the future.
The only issue i have had is with users stating there are issues. Out of all the Samsung phones i have had 10 plus this is by far the best.
Now appears that the recall will be global. And samsung is in talks with the carriers on how to go about returning and exchanging phones already sold. Never had to deal with a phone recall before.

I have had all of those issues on top of no signal for long periods and I just got the phone yesterday. I have had every Note except the 4 with none of these issues. Pretty disappointed.
Hey all,
I have a Note 8 SM-N950J, the Japanese variant, and I'm curious about the hardware differences between it and the US unlocked version.
For those who don't know, most Japanese Android phones come with a whole slew of odd Japan-specific hardware features. This particular Note 8 has a Wimax 2+ radio in it, a TV tuner, and an integrated FeliCa NFC antenna, among other changes. I suspect that, as part of these significant changes, it's also missing a few things most of the other variants have, like MST for one...
My question is, how might one go about checking *exactly* what's different on this phone compared to, say, the SM-N950U? My motivation in this, ultimately, would be to see if I can get Samsung Pay working, although I highly doubt I can, as it crashes every time even when I've got the store region set to US. I know it has a Snapdragon processor, and someone in the root thread said that the SamFAIL method works for this variant as well, although I haven't tried it.
Anyone got any thoughts? I'm quite willing to post screenshots and do just about anything else, if anyone's curious.
The way I check hardware differences with Samsung devices is guaranteed to yield results. I go to samsung.jp and check the hardware specs of the device and do the same with Samsung USA website . I compare the two, then note any differences if any.
Samsung pay, don't know sorry.

The Italian Authority for Competition and Market sanctioned samsung for obvious planned obsolescence for Samsung Note 4

let's begin to ask for explanations to samsung support and ask for an immediate upgrade to a better operating system
I want my note 4 fixed! It's physical new but software broken. Stock Rom and all official updates
According to this article (http://www.alphr.com/business/10100...ion-in-fines-for-throttling-phone-performance), the judgement states that "Samsung was said to have told Galaxy Note 4 customers to install the latest Android operating system which was designed to run on the latest Note 7 devices, causing the performance of the older model to noticeably drop".
I have to strongly disagree with this based on my own experience. I'm still running my N910C on the latest stock ROM (6.0.1) provided by Samsung, with probably close to 200 apps installed, and have no complaints about performance. Maybe if those complaining took better care of their devices and cleaned up every now and again with a factory reset they'd find things running more smoothly? I had considered upgrading to the Note 9, but recently did a factory reset and there's nothing wrong with the performance of my Note 4 for another year at least.
If they want to complain about 'planned obsolescence' they should address non-removable batteries which, I suspect, are one of the primary reasons for today's devices needing regular replacement.

I'm not sure it has been definitively proven that the EMMC problem was actually related to a software update. In any case, the statement should specify that only some Note 4 models were affected (as you say, 'lots of Note 4s', so not all) - to date I have not seen any reports of N910C (Exynos) models being affected. It was not my intention to be rude, apologies if I came across that way.

they have to do this, otherwise they cant sell new phones. after 3 years, note 4 is still a decent phone and quite usable. I have no reason to upgrade.

I don't think it pertains to a software update in particular...I think when the ota was pushed, it took unusually longer to update, thus causing the phone to heat up and fry stuff. This is why when I flash ROMs and etc, I put the phone on a frozen bag of peas to help with the over heating when flashing.
The question is... It's Samsung going to do something about it? I have a perfectly good Note 4 with no use at all because of bad software
My exynoss note 4 still works perfectly on stock rom after 3.5 years .
Only problem I got is ir blaster stooped working after an ota but other then that everything is fine.
I am considering replacing the battery to use this phone for another year or so.

I would agree with this - I think the Snapdragon models have had a hardware flaw with the EMMC which is aggravated and accelerated by overheating. So it's likely the problem would have arisen eventually on a Note 4 with this hardware which was repeatedly exposed to overheating through gaming, wireless charging etc... or a lengthy update.

It's probably a vain hope to expect that Samsung will do anything to rectify this now - in fact, if the overheating from the software update has caused EMMC problems, then it's now a hardware fault which can't be corrected with a new software update.

Yup - did a factory reset and clean setup this year with a new battery and it's like a new phone. Hoping to get through until the launch of the Note 10 - depending on what it's like I'll either upgrade to one of those or go for a Note 9, which will be a good bit cheaper by then :good:
Just so sad to leave behind my replaceable battery, IR blaster and 16:9 screen :crying:
I use AnyMote (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy) for the IR Blaster, but found it would only work with 'Use Alternate IR Commands' switched on in the advanced settings.

Hi all, I was thinking of getting a used galaxy note 9 from ebay but I've seen a lot of talk of screens turning green. It seemed to be linked to a software update but Samsung seems to be ignoring it and (as far as I can tell) it remains unresolved.
However I can't see it mentioned on here.
Do you have any knowledge on this issue and should it stop me getting a used S.G. note 9?
I'm also considering spending about the same on a new redmi note 9 pro as an alternative...
Thanks for your thoughts.
Hi, is there some reason I'm not getting a reply to this question?
I've never had any issue on my phone at all.
Thanks, but it does seem to be a known issue, just Google reddit note 9 green and there are pages of threads about it and people talking about grouping together to sue Samsung.
It's making me want to shy away from Samsung as there seems to be a history of problems and even affecting new s20...
I guess I wondered if it was fixable with a custom rom but after reading around I think once the software has broken the hardware (screen) it won't be reversible.
I'm surprised it's not mentioned/discussed on XDA, home of the experts (at least not that I could find)

In the same boat as you are. Would love to own my first note device if one can get it cheap and solve it somehow in future.
If you find a thread about this issue on xda, pl share as I am also surprised it's not being discussed much on xda.
