[Q] [HELP] Phone not turning on - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Samsung Glaxy S+ i9001 is not turning on, it just stays black. I've tried recovery mode, download mode, taking out and placing the battery back in, letting it rest, nothing works. If I get it to download mode I can fix it, but it just stays black. Its not that PHONE (!) COMPUTER thing that people unbrick or w/e, its just black. Nothing happens when I click any of the buttons, different combinations and such. It just stays black as if you are trying to turn on your phone without battery, nothing happens. How to fix this?

Even if there is nothing on the display , charge your phone for appr. 1 hour , then turn it on to download mode.
If this don't help , try:
-Buying an USB-JIG (got myself one , its such cool and really cheap for that what it does!)
-Buying a new battery for the phone.
I would prefer to buy an USB-JIG since it is really cheap and the chance by getting it back to life is quite high.

If you are sure your Battery is not dead and has been charged and has a charge, check your battery contacts to see they are clean and not oxidized and are firmly in contact with the contacts on your phone. (try shifting battery)
Final solution would be to use a JIG to get it into download mode..
BTW it is always better to mention what you did that brought about this situation, that is how we can analyse the problem.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

What is a USB-JIG? Will it work, I mean...the phone doesnt even do anything or show anything on the display, its just black without anything on it, like turned off and never turns on. What does the USB-JIG do? Where can I buy it? I cant even get into any mode, recovery or download, the phone doesnt even do anything when I press the buttons and stuff.

you can use volt meter to see how much power it has or try it on your friends or someone who has i9000 or i9001 phone and as mentioned earlier check it is in contact with your phone. But what did you do , before this problem ?? or what caused this problem??

I changed the recovery mode to Clockworkmod, then I installed gapps. I got stuck in a boot-loop so I wiped all dalvik cache and data and the other cache types, then I clicked on some bootloader thing, then the phone restarted and never started again.

ok, the bootloader thing you clicked caused this problem, so your battery is good and your only option is to use USB JIG, buy or borrow one and you should be able to get into download mode to flash a i9001 Stock ROM with AriesVE.ops using Odin 4.43
Never mess with bootloader:fingers-crossed:

I've sent a few PM's to people in my town using the thing you provided me, thanks a lot! You gave me some hope to fix it, I'll eventually borrow one if I get a response or I'll buy one, sadly it will be delivered in around 1 month, so I might just send it to service if I dont borrow.

I have already rooted it twice on 2 different Cyanogenmod's , 10.1 and yesterday I tried 10.2. Everything was fine, only GApps would not install properly. So I installed Clockworkmod, installed it without any problems, clicked on that boot thing, the phone rebooted and no more started.

For download mode, you have to buy 3 resistors of 100k ohms each (or any other combination which makes total 300k ohms) and connect them in series.
Cut an USB cable or charger pin from the phone end. Connect the resistors in between pin no.4 ( which is not connected to any of the wire in USB cable) and pin5.
The below link will help you to understand better :
galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-hacks/how-to-make-a-usb-jig-for-your-galaxy-s2/
I would like to recommend you to download official JVU pack and flash using Odin. The best way around if you can go to download mode.

ur phone still ok but u need do manually ...
1st-take out ur battery
2nd-put it back
3rd-Put your Galaxy Note into download mode by holding down Volume Down, Center button, and Power button together for about 10 seconds.
after that press volume up , then connect ur device to odin , flash new fresh rom without pit file
Your phone seems to be totally unresponsive; that sounds like the ultimate hard brick to me.
Take it to the nearest service centre.
USB jig
Did you try putting your phone to download using USB jig ? There are many articles relating to that . Sometimes the phone may not charged when its bricked . So get it charged from somewhere else , or may be from your friend who has note and try using USB jig . It might work , no guarantee , try your luck , else be ready to spend almost half what you paid for your phone to change the motherboard !

I don't think that the problem is battery, It was 55% yesterday evening, but I haven't friend with a Gnote
I haven't a JIG but I will try to make one if I can find a 300K resistor
Can I find a 300K resistor into a old none working device ? (Like a old radio, tv, telecommand ?)

similar type of brick....and the suggestion given by the SSC is better to buy a new mobile since they have to replace the main board....(without warranty)..and cost will be around (Dhs.1150) that is almost half the price of new mobile....
btw i have tried jig also but no luck...
I have the same problem with my galaxy note.
i treid everything no reaction
pls has somebody an idea for me ?
Same problem with me.
Weird, I had a I91000 for a year, flashed everything and never had any problems. Never got close to bricking it.
I did this:
Rooted it with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 - OK
Ran again CWM.
I put the latest nightly from CM9. When I started flashing it, it hung. I turned off my cell (no other option, it was stuck), now it won't turn on.
Whoa... What did I do wrong? I admit I was anxious and didn't take the proper care I should've, I was very anxious, but, wow... I wasn't expecting it to be so easily brickable.
Do I have any hope left?

[Q] What should i lie to samsung centre to fix my GNOTE

Hello,
Yesterday i've bricked my galaxy note
i've flashed cm9 built instead of flashing kernel
and its superbricked ( cant turn it on , get charged or even entering download mode )
the question is what should I say to them so they repair or replace my motherboard ?
note : my country didnt get the ICS update yet !
you should try entering download mode by using USB jig first...if you cant then just go to samsung and tell them u duno wat happened ur phone just dead out of a sudden. if u cant turn if on...i think they cant turn it on either..they have to flash the whole phone to fix it..i dont think they will check wat happen.

So even if we can understand that you are in stress, you could still
try what other helpful users say instead of just keep yelling the same
thing....
OFTEN even if you think it is completely dead, in fact it is not.....
Even if the phone looks dead it could still be loading fastboot.
So just try to turn it on, even if you don't see anything happen, hook it
up to the pc and try ODIN or ADB to see if it connects.
It could also be that your battery is empty andit doesn't charge anymore.
Try a battery from friend, or charge externally.
silence...
I super bricked my note too..I can't get into download and recovery mode too.
So the next day morning I sent to Samsung..I just told em,I can't start my phone..they
Didn't ask anything more..just said 45min later could collect my phone..

We all know you were not able to do anything on your phone, this is why you need to try using USB JIG(try ebay). USB JIG will put the phone automatically in download mode. Google "USB JIG" to get more info about this. It's cheap around $5 i think and a must have if you're into flashing roms

ok at this point ,
1)try powering on yr phone continously holding the power button for about 8-10seconds...
2)second option, try putting yr phone into both download and recovery mode using he 3buttons...
3) if still not turning off try and flash a stock rom of yr region using pc odin in download mode.
this will get yr phone to work incase if its an os crash.

[Q] Fixing screwed up i9000

Hey guys!
Before i start, i'd like to say that i searched around the web a lot and from what i gathered is that these problems are very individual. Hence i'm asking here for help from the elite.
The current state of my i9000:
- Boots into Black Screen of Death
- Doesn't boot into Recovery Mode (Black Screen of Death)
- Boots into Download Mode
- Phone isn't detectable by Odin nor Heimdall Frontend
Previous state of my i9000:
- Boots into "Galaxy S GT-i9000"
- Boots into Recovery Mode with plenty errors of "can't mount...". In other words my phone wasn't detecting Internal nor External SD cards, rendering everything in the Recovery Mode useless.
- Boots into Download Mode
What caused this? Unsuccessful recovery where i tried going from the upgraded OS back to original. After which phone wasn't detecting any hardware.
Trying to flash or install something has turned out to be just a waste of time as my phone doesn't communicate with Odin nor Heimdall.
Nor doesn't it seem to be an issue with the USB cables nor drivers as i installed and reinstalled the original ones, the ones from KIES and also the driver provided with Heimdall.
Any help would be much appreciated, the more concrete the better :highfive:
Anybody up for a challenge?

Thanks once again!
Didn't believe it was a problem with USB connections as i had 3 different USB cables (1 original from phone, 1 from headlamp battery charger and 1 more solar battery charger) and all of them worked fine, installing drivers that showed up as Samsung USB etc.
Thought oh well let's give cleaning a go, can't get worst right? Well it did, SmartPhoney turned into "Unidentifiable Device Detected".
Then i disassembled the whole phone unscrewing and taking out everything and got an evil brush and just went sterile on the phoney.
Dragged out a cloud of plastic fur as they fill pillows with these days, only black colored from the USB port. Assembled the phoney-o again and gave it a go with Odin once again with those files from one of your extensive sections. Where it usually FAILED as it couldn't pick up anything, it succeeded!
Now my SmartPhoney is back amongst works from spending some time are invalids retirement penthouse.

HELP: Hard Bricked GT-S6500T after installing Swapper2

After installing swapper2 and rebooting my phone would no longer boot correctly.
The bootscreen would sometimes display and get stuck on a very low quality Samsung text logo and other times just show a black screen with 2 lines visible on the right of the screen.
Volume_Down+Menu+Power doesn't work.
Volume_Down+Volume_UP+Menu+Power also doesn't work.
Now the phone no longer turns on at all and even connecting it to charger or usb doesn't turn it or show any signs of life.
Is there a usb dongle jig that will bring this back from a hard brick?
Would this usb jig work with a GT6500? SAMSUNG GALAXY S / S2 i9000 / i9100 USB DONGLE JIG
take everything out and leave the phone like that for 30mins .. plugin the battery and pray..
usb jig not working... flash firmware w/ Riff Jtag bro
I have something else going on with mine 6500D, I mean
I can acces DOWNLOAD MODE but RECOVERY is out of my reach...
I've flashed CM10, it was working fine but without wiping dalvik cache, factory reset I've flashed through ODIN
STOCK SOFTWARE - 1file soft now I'm stuck on bootloop, samsung logo appears and that's all.
I would like to give a try and try to do something Can somebody tell me what could I do ?
I can acces DOWNLOAD MODE may I flash somebody's backup or something through ODIN ?
THANKS 4 all responds
GOOD LUCK

What? ,,Menu,,? I think that you mean Home button.
Other... Try to acces download mode many times but after all, remove battery, and try again and again...until it works.
I do that to recover a soft-bricked S6500D, and it works, after many, many tries...

Just wait for a new battery , and try my solution , it will works 100 % (after you flash stock rom, then cwm )
Solution: Acces download mode, at the first screen, press home and down and up (fast!!! ), this may force phone boot into recovery!

Used swapper2 sometimes for swapping to zram or sdcard. Never had any brick.
