Hi there guys, That's it .
After reaching my highest limit of searching / installing / removing , z4root , super onclick, which btw none work, I am on the edge, basically , loosing my mind, and all I would like to do is just root my phone and have it working properlly and faster.
Now there are so many old root methods as the one I tryed Does any of you guys can help me out and explain how do I root my Samsung Galaxy S I-9000, with froyo 2.2 firmware ?
Thank you Omri.
what exact firmware,
i used JL2 and super one click worked for me.
try all of them.
Gets stuck on " Waiting for Device "
and i already unplugged the phone a couple of times with usb debugging on/off , any chance that im doing somthing wrong?
flash speedmod kernel.. or cfroot kernel
Can you see phone from the PC?
It sounds like the Odin method of flashing a custom kernel is not an option (if not try that - lots of info in the kernel posts)?
If your computer is not recognizing the phone try remove and reinstall drivers and kies and then also clean out the port on the phone with alcohol (and try another usb cable if you have one).
That my two bits. I tried in vain to root from the phone alone with 2.2 but finally got odin working by cleaning the port and now the possibilities are endless.
What exactly is this "Flashing / Kernel" options exactly , because the computer recognizes the USB just fine. ??
See here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756
This is for speedmod (if you need other options go to the stickies in the development section and look for the kernel list near the bottom of the stickies).
Follow the procedure for Odin installation. You will need to ensure you can go into download mode (Vol Down, home and power buttons to see - it should show android with a shovel in yellow - you can pull the battery to stop it if just checking but don't touch anything while Odin is working). If you cannot get 3 button download working, look for that fix in the forums too. I did not have that issue so I can't point you in the right direction there.
I think hardcore's page (author of the rom) has a link to an Odin guide. But its worth getting to know a bit as it will save your bacon if you need to get back to stock for warrenty.
Once you have this rom you'll be rooted and have clockwork Mod which allows flashing from the phone if you like (most custom roms are based on CWM installation). This is what I did once I got mine back from warrenty with 2.2 and then I flashed Darky's rom keeping the stock modem.

If you are stuck at "waiting for device"
do not exit Super One Click
1. pull out the usb from the phone,
2. turn off by pulling out the battery
3. put the battery back, turn on & plug in the USB
No firmware and USB problem
I have a large problem, my wifes galaxy s won't go by the first screen (says GALAXY S GT-I9000)
So i thought i'd fix it using odin using the 3 button combo. But that isn't working anymore.
Luckily i have a usb jig which gets me to the download mode ...... but !
When i connect the pc cable (tried 2 OE samsung ones) i get device not recognized so i can't use odin to fix it.
What can i do, or do i have to send it to a repair centre to be resurrected ?
I have searched and searched but not found any topics with the same issues i have on her phone.
Need a bit more info i.e were you flashing the phone??if so which rom?
Then phone was playing up so i flashed darkys 10.4.2.
However the usb connection wouldn't work so i flashed it to standard JVT
using mobile odin.
Then i rooted it and went to go into recovery mode and it wouldn't turn on.
I tried to help the gentleman , but no luck . From what he told me , phone turns on after battery insertion , and It is not recognised by usb => so odin not usable .
If you can get to download mode but the phone isn't recognized by your computer then i'd say it's a driver issue. Install your phone's drivers again. To do that, just installing kies is enough BUT be sure to open task manager in windows and kill any process that has kies in it's name before opening odin.
If that still isn't flying i'd try using different USB ports and even with a different computer.
Extra advice:
- try not to flash bootloaders for now. That means picking a rom that has no bootloaders included but matches your phone's current bootloader. If you were using gingerbread flash a gingerbread rom, if you were using froyo, flash a froyo rom.
phone not starting up past first screen (GALAXY S GT-I9000 in white on black screen), phone not recognized neither by pc nor laptop ( usb drivers installed ) , phone turns on after battery insertion without pressing anything.
This manual is from a German board
Take the battery out, then hold the 3 keys combo for download and put the battery back on. Now you should start the download mode.
If not, then try it with a jig.
Good luck!
GOT A JIG. WORKS FINE.
But pc wont recognize it !!
Have you double checked that you have the right drivers installed? I know you have to use the Nexus S drivers for CM9, not sure about Darky's ROM.
Drivers
Download drivers 64 bit | 32 bit from here and install.
It is NOT the drivers as my other galaxy s connects fine every time.
Drivers have been removed and installed repeatedly.
I would suggest a different computer, maybe a different cable. I have this same issue with my infuse, hope you get this resolved.

Already tried that as well
You could try Adam outler's unbrickable mod.
Pasted from other thread:
I just wrote a wall of text b4 and my browser crashed GG
Well, here we go again, i will only tell what I did/the process
I did a nandroidbackup, then i wiped all data (data+cache+dalvik), installed CyanogenMod 9 (Build 16), it rebooted automaticly, so I entered recovery again, installed Google Apps from there, wiped data and cache (no dalvik), rebooted.
Ended up looping at the Samsung screen (not animation), and I couldnt do the 3-button-combo, so the NANDroid backup is useless.
I can enter the download thing, but i dont even know what it does.
Tried plugging it in the charger (after letting it dry out during the night), and only the loop thing appears. Cant do anything.
I see that theres something called odin (Since my download thing is working (VolDown+Home+Power) if its that you mean.
If its possible to fix my phones state, please tell me how, since I startedrooting, flashing and stuff yesterday (Gotta start at some point) and followed HDTechVideos tut (On his website)

I have nowhere near enough ability for that. Pity though.
Your problem is most likely the USB port. Maybe cleaning it might help. It happened to me for a few months then when I got the S2 I stopped using it. Began to use it as my home 3g wifi modem and kept it on charge the whole time. A few weeks later tried connecting it to the computer and it worked first go. Ever since it has worked perferctly. I suspect the problem possibly started by a rain drop getting into the port.
Mind you, even when it wasn't being recognised by the PC, I would constantly connect, remove, reconnect, reboot PC and phone etc and it would sometimes get recognised. Other times it wouldn't connect but Odin still recognised it.
Sounds silly but try leaving it on charge as I did and maybe, just maybe you'll be lucky like I was.

Well as of today it is away to the O2 repair centre.
Its under warranty (unless the find out it was rooted etc) so fingers crossed.
Well had a text back today to say my phone has been despatched, so here is hoping that its fixed.
It came back from the repair centre yesterday with a note saying a part had been replaced,
no costs for me, yippeeeeeeee.
Hey all,
I have recently been given a phone by a friend, a SGS i9000. He bought it as is, and being n00b he couldnt describe anything to me about how or why it was like this. As I have a i9000 myself I took a bit of a look at it, I have no idea what firmware, rom, kernel etc is on it. After researching around it seems to be locked in a bootloop, I can not access any recovery menu, if I hold the power + home button I get the screen below (found this button combo somewhere in the forums, attaining to the Samsung anycall, korean?), but when plugged into my computer it comes up saying "windows could not recognize device blah blah". Any hope??? Last resort will be to get a jig, but ive never had to use them before and not sure if it will solve my issue. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Identify what Phone it could be by checking its top corner for a Tucked in TV Antenna ...if you can pull out an Antenna its an M110S, if not it is an i9000 flashed with a wrong ROM. IF its M110S , just use PIT STOP link below to resolve using How to flash guide
The Anycall screen you are getting means it is still in download mode and can be detected by Odin, if not do a battery pull ( follow My Android Solutions, link below)

Thanks for your reply.
I have looked to see if there is an antenna, nothing there. Ive tried rebooting the PC, and done a battery pull. Whilst in bootloop ive plugged in the phone, nothing comes up. Whilst in download mode, ive plugged in the phone, device detected but unrecognized. I removed everything......then......
1) Uninstalled all drivers and KIES from my PC > Reboot
2) Went to Android solutions, started with step one, no help.
3) Went onto step 2 (Problem:- Cannot connect to PC or Unknown Device, getting Code 43 or any other code or NO response when using USB cable),I checked to see if any pins were bent, and cleaned the contacts using some mini brushes I had. I am using a Samsung USB, same one i use for my i9000, which works 100%. Installed and tried every driver seperately, whilst trying to see if odin would detect anything.
NOTHING :crying:
Tried different ports etc. The only response I get is when ive put the phone into download mode (Home+Power), then all I get when connected to PC is "USB Device not Recognized". Im grateful that I get that, but cant do much else haha.
Can you suggest anything else?? can I even use the jig as a last resort???
Did you remember that you need to reinstall drivers?

Hey thanks for your reply, if youre referring to the PC, then yes I removed all the drivers that did not work, and lastly reinstalled Samsung KIES. Still no change to the device being recognized by windows.

Hi, ive tried ezboot, still no luck, I get the same error message in odin. Grrr frustrating, seem to be throwing solutions at it but nothing is cracking it.
Is there a way i can do it through heimdall?? seems to get more done when trying to flash except the error i get above?? perhaps how to do a bootloader flash using heimdall not odin??
Thanks

I think the solution to your problem has been found, and your phone is actually an M110S Anycall galaxy S..read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1888319...so you need to use the M110S repair kit, download from Pit Stop, link below and flash as per guide or like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28174768&postcount=4774
First of all I would like to thank you xsenman, your posts and guides on these forums have been a huge help. Going along with what you said in your last post, I have started downloading the repair kit, then hopefully do an official update for here (Australia).
I just want to add, you may want to add the the following as a solution to a lot of problems (it helped me verify).
I had a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30797809&postcount=1
And about half way through the thread is IMEI check
I entered the IMEI from my phone (an official samsung gti9000), and it came back with a result saying exactly that.
I then entered the IMEI from my friends phone (bought from ebay >:/ go figure), and it came back saying it was M110S but so has it that the internal sticker on my friends phone says model: GT-i9000
If anyone else gets into a confusion like I have, which it is hard to tell if its fake or not. Posting/sticky the imei check will save a lot of time, heart ache and possibly from creating a $200 paper weight.
Once again thank you so much, hopefully this repair kit will work and the phone will be up and running.
:good:
My Samsung Glaxy S+ i9001 is not turning on, it just stays black. I've tried recovery mode, download mode, taking out and placing the battery back in, letting it rest, nothing works. If I get it to download mode I can fix it, but it just stays black. Its not that PHONE (!) COMPUTER thing that people unbrick or w/e, its just black. Nothing happens when I click any of the buttons, different combinations and such. It just stays black as if you are trying to turn on your phone without battery, nothing happens. How to fix this?

Even if there is nothing on the display , charge your phone for appr. 1 hour , then turn it on to download mode.
If this don't help , try:
-Buying an USB-JIG (got myself one , its such cool and really cheap for that what it does!)
-Buying a new battery for the phone.
I would prefer to buy an USB-JIG since it is really cheap and the chance by getting it back to life is quite high.

If you are sure your Battery is not dead and has been charged and has a charge, check your battery contacts to see they are clean and not oxidized and are firmly in contact with the contacts on your phone. (try shifting battery)
Final solution would be to use a JIG to get it into download mode..
BTW it is always better to mention what you did that brought about this situation, that is how we can analyse the problem.

you can use volt meter to see how much power it has or try it on your friends or someone who has i9000 or i9001 phone and as mentioned earlier check it is in contact with your phone. But what did you do , before this problem ?? or what caused this problem??

ok, the bootloader thing you clicked caused this problem, so your battery is good and your only option is to use USB JIG, buy or borrow one and you should be able to get into download mode to flash a i9001 Stock ROM with AriesVE.ops using Odin 4.43

For download mode, you have to buy 3 resistors of 100k ohms each (or any other combination which makes total 300k ohms) and connect them in series.
Cut an USB cable or charger pin from the phone end. Connect the resistors in between pin no.4 ( which is not connected to any of the wire in USB cable) and pin5.
The below link will help you to understand better :

I would like to recommend you to download official JVU pack and flash using Odin. The best way around if you can go to download mode.
Hi there I recently just got my self a i9000 and it had gingerbread v2.3.5 and I wanted to flash XXJW4 on it simply as it was the latest update so I downloaded odin v 3.0.7 and I had put my phone in to download mode and put the firmware file in the PDA section .The weird thing was that Odin didn't recognise the phone after plugging and unplugging the cable to the phone for a few times until it recognised it.Finally it recognised it and then I proceded to flash with auto reboot and f reset time only checked. Then it looked like everything was alright until it reached to Setup connection and after about 5 seconds it didn't do anything. I stupidly then took out the cable from the phone and I then rebooted the phone and I now get phone triangle then laptop. If I left the phone at setup connection would it have done the flash successfully? the good news is that I can get into download mode so all is not lost.Could some one please guide me out of this mess?
Thanks
