My wife dropped her phone and it turned off, or at least the screen won't off and won't turn on. If I hold the up arrow and power button for 10 seconds, the indicator blinks green. When I plug into the computer, the Mac android transfer tool doesn't detect the phone, any ideas? Thanks.

hi!
the green led on my g1 suddenly starts to stay on all the time.. i dont know how to turn it off? can i?
or why does it stay on all the time? last time i check it doesnt.. any help?
....did you forget to remove your charger out?
yup, charger is not connected. i also tried shutting it down then remove the battery. but after hitting the power button to boot the device the green led stays on.
When I disconnected my phone from the charger this morning the LED did not shut down. The phone does not respond, now several hours later the green LED still is on (solid green). the buttons on the screen is lit but the screen is black. If I press and hold the power button the buttons on the screen starts to blink after a few second, but nothing happends. The same if I try to do a hard reset by pressing vol-down and pwr button. Nothin except the blinking from the buttons on screen. If I try to connect the phone to a computer nothing happends, the computer does not find the phone. If I try to call the phone notheing happends....the phone was turned on when connected to the charger.
Any idéas?
Problem solved, after2,5 hours the LED shut down and I was able to reboot the phone.
If you keep the power button held down for 10 to 15 seconds it will power off, because you can't pull the battery in this device HTC built in a power down feature to the power button

Hi. I have a very strange problem with my XSP running Vanir. I've been using Vanir for over 2 months now.
The problem is that the phone wouldn't charge, at all. When it was powered on, plugging in the cable through either wall socket/pc would do nothing. PC didn't even recognize the phone.
Currently, the battery is completely drained and there's no way to power it on. When I connect the phone to wall socket, the LED first turns green for about 5 seconds. Then, Sony logo is flashed with LED being red, for 5 seconds again. Then, the offline charging screen would appear, and go off within a couple of seconds. When I press the power button, the offline charging screen flashes and goes off. LED isn't blinking or lit up.
If I connect the phone to PC, the LED glows red constantly. That's it, no charging.
The problem is not with the cable as I tried 3 different ones.
Someone help, please.
May be the micro usb socket is damaged.

Seems like my 3T does not turn off when I turn it off via pressing the power button. When I have a charger connected it's easy to spot when the vibration goes off, but the charging light keeps lit - even when I remover the charger. It's also apparent that the device won't turn on when pressing the power button for three seconds. I need to press it about eight secs and then another two to turn it on.
Turning off works when rebooting the phone and turning it off from the bootloader (my device is unlocked) or when turning it off at the pin entry (have boot pin set).
Can anyone confirm?
Tested with clean system (no root, no Xposed) and still happening...
Turning off with the power button works on my device, powering up DOES take some time, 5-8 seconds of holding the power button down.
Seems like forever holding that power button!
Maybe I need to be more precise. Yes, I can "kill" the phone just holding that button for about ten seconds. But that's not the point. I suspect it does not power off properly.
To test, hook it up to the charger. Press power for about three seconds. Select "Turn off". Wait for the phone to vibrate. Charging light is on. If it'd be powering off correctly, it would kind of turn on again to show you the charging screen (battery symbol, then dash symbol). Does not do this for me. Instead it sits there... black. When I remove the charger, the charging light stays on.
To turn the phone on again, I then have to press power about ten seconds (turning it off), and then again to turn it on.
I tried your exact method, and my device shuts down (connected to the power cord, plugged in) normally, and them restarts while holding down the power button in 3 seconds.
When not connected to the dash charger, my device does power down very slowly as described in my earlier post (stock kernel)
My devices is rooted with the blue spark kernel though--so maybe that has some baring in my "normal" shut down/startup behavior.
I have the same bug to you... So I disconnected the cable...
Just wait for the future updates....
My device was working fine it turned off all of sudden and it wont turn on again.
There was around 70% charge remaining.
No display while I connected it to charger.
No display/Vibration while pressing power button.
No display while pressing Power + vol down/ vol up
Only The red LED is on even when it's not connected to charger. its not blinking. its steady.
When I long press the power button for around 10-15 seconds, the led turned off and on after a second. still there is no display.
I tried to keep my mobile in charge for more than 12 hours. Still not turning on.
I would appreciate any help to revive my phone.
