Helloo guys,
I never done this before so I need some help
I rooted my phone and I installed Clockworkmod with Odin from this started guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1578821
After that from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650615 I downloaded a file from from link 2013-07-30: CM9 Final Release [1], It is a zip file (127mb), how I can now install this? I putted this zip on my external card in folder customrom. What I have to do in recovery mode? I followed istructions "How to install Custom Roms/Kernel/Recovery/Mods with the Clockworkmod:" and when I enter in external_sd folder I got message Not files found in recovery mode. What am I a doing wrong?
Maybe I can install this from Odin, but Odin for One Package needs a md5 or tar file but I just have a zip and I dont know how to convert.
What do you suggest? Odin installation or installation through recovey mode?
Sorry for my bad english
Thanks in advance

READ WARNING BY ARCO concerning CWM
[/LIST]
Before you install CM9: Preparation (First three are optional. If you want to start fresh, these can be skipped)
Install AppBak from Market, run it and save a list of all your apps.
Install SMS Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your SMS history.
Install Call Logs Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your call log history.
Boot into CWM5 recovery. Make a full backup. You will need this backup later if you decide to go back to your previous ROM and data.
WARNING: Many apps will Force Close crash if you restore data from a previous ROM.
Install
Use CWM5 or CWM6.
For flashing with Odin: recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ariesve.tar.md5 | recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-ariesve.tar.md5 (Needs AriesVE.ops)
For using dd command to flash: recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ariesve.zip | recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-ariesve.zip
Warning: Only use this recovery to flash CM9. Otherwise, you risk bricking your phone!
Wipe data and cache.
Flash update*.zip.
Flash gapps*.zip. You must flash gapps after every upgrade to CM9 since /system is formatted, wiping your previous add-ons.
Reboot phone.
After you setup your Google account, reinstall the three apps from Market in order to restore most of your apps, call log and SMS history.
Warning: Do not restore backup data of system apps!
If you restore a bad backup with cached settings in telephony.db in data/data/com.*.*.telephony it can break MMS.
It seems that restoring backups can also break Calendar sync.

So if developer of ROM tells you and warns you to use his CWM recovery, you must ensure you follow that when using his ROM you should not follow the guide from the earlier link
second, IF you placed the ROM files in Internal SD card, don't look for it in the External SD card. if its confusing copy it into both SD cards and delete after flashing.

I dont understand you, I didnt place ROM file in Internal, I placed in External SD card. When I tried to find that file and open extaral_sd folder I got the mesage "Nof files found" so I ask you, where to put ROM file (127mb) on External SD Card or Internal SD? What about name of ROM FILE? How I should name that file or it is ok "cm-9-20130730-UNOFFICIAL-ariesve" ?
Also, For flashing with Odin: recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ariesve.tar.md5 | recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-ariesve.tar.md5 (Needs AriesVE.ops) I have to install this? Can I just install this now after installation of this "FeaModRecovery_1.2.tar.md" from starter guide?
Also author of ROM says: Wipe data and cache.[*] Flash update*.zip.[*] Flash gapps*.zip.
Ok, I saw Wipte Data and cache, and saw "Flash update*.zip." but what is "Flash gapps*.zip."?
So, I dont have update.zip on sd card or maybe I should name ROM file update.zip?
What about gapps.zip where is this file?
Thanks

Suggest you please read the developer thread again ( take your time) and follow his advice as how to do it, and the links for his final release as well as gapps and CWM is also mentioned in it. You must understand it before flashing and you must also charge your battery before flashing.

Go to get.cm, then to galaxy s, then to stable, then download CM9.1 and put it on internal SD card.
Go to goo.im/gapps ans download the gapps for 4.0.4 and put it on the sdcrad.
Go to the recovery, do a wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache.
Flash the rom then the gapps and reboot.

It is not recommended to use FeaMOd recovery for this ROM by developer, so you have to change to CWM 5 o r 6
IF your phone is working perfectly now with FeaMod recovery, you can use it to make your Nandroid Backup, if not you can flash CWM 6 (untick reboot in Odin 4.43) so that you can power down by pulling out battery after flashing CWM 6 and use combo keys to enter CWM recovery to do your Nandroid Backup and after that do the wipes and after that flash the ROM and Gapps a mentioned in the thread.

Sorry about making a new post under this forum, but i didnt have permission to reply in the dev forum.
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
noticed the LG screwed up - bad - here's why your UI is jerky! link, and decided to give it a try.
Code:
cat /system/build.prop | grep build
shows:

ro.build.date=2011. 03. 15. (í) 14:14:22 KST
ro.build.date.utc=1300166062
So i go for the V10b (date 1300166062) linked on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023354
did a nanodroid backup and tried to install the rom(zipfile) with clockworkmod from my SDcard.
Select the "Wipe Dalvik Cache" but leave the others unchecked.
Phone reboots and enter CLockwork recovery and attempts to install but it fails at the beginning of the installation and reboots the phone before I get time to read the error message.
What am I doing wrong?
I didnt wipe cache over V10B and it worked smooth. But i am on V10C now which is much better!

upgrading to v10c, does that require any wipe, or can you just write it over your current version. Also, do you have a link to the package?

I upgraded via Lg updater. I cant give you links and yes just apply over it.

Sounds like you use ROM Manager to boot into recovery?
Try booting to recovery manually by holding Power+Vol- while booting (until you see the yellowish A N D R O I D letters) and go from there.
If I remember right CWM Recovery and ROM Manager swap the internal and external SD card around or fails to mount the latter when booting directly to recovery from ROM Manager.

the same with superuser
You have to scroll it down. there is one option YES, but it's "below" screen..
If you are seeing clock work mod screen and a Number of no one upon other in many lines then swipe up your finger on screen because it's a touch recovery mod then you will are the yes option.
But after flashing with smart flash tool you have to just reboot.
You can flash a rom with already
Included Super user just google or search xda .
Also snegovik which you have tried has described a best tutorial with pic and it's a very good tutorial
A child can also do this I request you to read and retry please.

Ok and now what should i do to install zeus, can i do that?
You can always install whichever rom you want. Just don't forget about wipes in CWM.
In Zeus thread, there are instructions in first post... It's easy. Zeus rom & updates are always as cwm zip, so you already know how to do this.

Download Zeus read Zeus Tom pages by huexx
You will need 6.3 zip and latest 6.36 zip
You can choose version based on v20n or v20o
All instructions are given in his thread
Copy 6.3 zip and 6.36 zip to root of your SD card as you can not browse folders in depth in clock work mod recovery
If you don't know what is copying in root of SD card Google it its simple
now reboot your phone in ce recovery mod
Choose wipe data factory reset
Then chhose wipe catch
Then wipe dalvik catch by going in advance mod
Then return by go back button
Choose install zip from SD card
Choose 6.3
Flash by touching selecting yes
Then after finish of flashing reboot
Wait for some time after complete boot to stable the system
The same way flash I mean install 6.36 update
That's all
Pl ask if any difficulty

hello
im currently using an android 4.0.3 XXLQ3 rom
my main objective is to install PARANOIDANDROID rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115167
in order to get root+safe kernel + cwm i used phiz recommended method described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
after i flashed it i rebooted the device i now have cwm but i do not have root or supersu app and i dont know if im on safe kernel or not
i read on the forum that lq3 room has some sort of a space problem as described here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
saying:
1B.If you want just Root but not kernel, follow this
- Download Root_SuperSu 0.95
-Copy downloaded file to Ext SD card.
-Reboot into recovery (vol up+Home+power)
-Select install zip from ext SD card
-select 'root_SuperSU-*.zip' which you have copied to Ext card above
-Reboot device
-You can see superSU on appl drawer. open it and update.
-Now This will give you only SuperSU not busybox, though application which doesn't depends on system busybox will still works.e.g.Titanium Backup.
-To get full Root+busybox, Download Root_busybox *.zip
-Copy Root_busybox* only to Ext SD card
-Reboot into recovery, Select Install zip from Ext SD card. select Root_busybox* .zip and Flash.
-Done !
PS : If you can't see superSU after flashing above file(sometimes happen if there is too low space like in LQ3 ROM, then use this Root_superSU, followed by same above Root_busybox file.

so my questions are:
1. how do i get root from my current state? can i use the root_supersu in cwm instead of stock recover?
2. how can i tell if my kernel is safe atm? phiz is suppose to be safe but maybe if root failed the mmc_cap remove failed too?
soory for the long post
thanks in advance to all the helpers!

phiz kernel suppose to be safe does super_su somehow overwrite the mmc_cap erase?

Restore the backup you made in step 2, install newest official CWM via ROM Manager (download it from play store if you don't already have it) then boot back into CWM and install CM again.
---------- Post added at 08:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:37 PM ----------
Also I honestly don't see any real benefit to this thread when installing official CWM solves the status 7 issue and allows for OTA updating of CM instead of having to wait for the OP of this thread to upload a fix every single day...
argh

Also I honestly don't see any real benefit to this thread when installing official CWM solves the status 7 issue and allows for OTA updating of CM instead of having to wait for the OP of this thread to upload a fix every single day...

I was afraid you were gonna say that! You can still boot into CWM though right? If you can, and your computer has an SD slot, just take out your external SD card and put it into an adapter and put the fixed version from this thread on that, then you can just install it from the external SD in CWM.

from CWM you can install via sideload ...
or harder way- reflash stock, root it, download rom manager, install newest cwm via it, copy files, flash in recovery
won't work

When i connect phone to computer, driver is missing, it is named lgp880. I've installed all the drivers that came on my mind, and nothing.
So i'm not sure how to use the sideload command...

i've tried to flash CM and followed instructions in this order:
1. Place cm-10.1-20130416-NIGHTLY-p880.zip and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip in to your internal sdcard
2. BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA with CWM Recovery
3. In CWM Recovery make wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, format system
4. Flashcm-10.1-20130416-NIGHTLY-p880.zip from sdcard
But i've got an error status 7 . Now my phone wont boot, and i can't copy this fixed zip file. What can i do?
