wow,
I am really happy with my HT 820 but this looks great and small!
I would really be interested in getting one......
Maybe PM me or email.>?
Or post?
Why does every body oohing and ahhing about this piece of junk? IT DOES NOT VIBRATE!!!!.... Let me repeat. IT DOES NOT VIBRATE!!!! So the only way for you to get call notification is to either wear the ear pieces all the time or turn on your Athena default ear shattering notification sound. Now, I understand that a lot of you think that no one will ever call you or the line of work that you're in will never ever require you to attend any meeting at work so the default loud Athena notification is not a problem. But think again!!!! On that rare occasion when the hooker you paid to go out on a date with you calls, you will find yourself looking like an IDIOT emitting that horrible stupid default call notification sound that came with the Athena. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY BUYING THIS PIECE OF SH*T.
The only stereo BT headset that also vibrates up until now is the Jabra BT8010.

We all got your point dude. Perhaps a bit nicer way could be a better way of informing and putting your point across. This is a forum to share information, where manners would be nice (other than info).

Manner would be spending a minute searching for more info (problems, etc...) about the item one is thinking of posting that have been reported time after time after time after time... up here before starting another thread tricking people into buying junks....
I'm with you Red_Toyol.
I bought this headset and the Jaba but took the Jaba back after a few days in favour of this one for two main reasons. First, the sound quality on the Sony-Ericsson is definitely better, both on Music and both ways on calls. Secondly, the wires for the earpieces act as the necklace so you wear it round your neck (and inside your shirt) and it only comes out when needed.
Now, since using it for some 4 months now, I can give you a couple of other pointers.
The DS970 has caller display so I can see who's calling before I answer. OK, it's number only (there's probebly a fix for names) but I'm good with that.
Also, I charge mine once every two weeks or so. That's as I use it only now and then for music but for phone calls all the time. However, I leave the BT on the Ameo ALL the time but switch off the headset when not using it. That's because, when the phone rings (and I only have 20seconds before switching to answer machine), I have time to power up the headset (about 5 secs including logon to Ameo) and answer. When call finished, I hang up and switch off.
If you do this, you get sooo much battery life for no convenience loss AND it means vibrate would be useless anyway.
Each to their own I suppose but I am so pleased with this bit of kit. IF you need vibrate, look elsewhere. If not, this is the best IMHO.
Oh, and as for the ringing, why would you use the default ringer anyway? I have my own ringtones for various purposes and when I get a call, my Ameo rings as if I didn't have a headset. The only difference is I can choose at that point which method to answer by.
Hope this is helpful to those searching. Cheers.
DS970 indeed looks like quite an ideal BT headset.
Vibration is completely unnecessary for me also. Even if I have such a function, I won't use it. The reason is this. If I'm outdoor, I want normal ringtone to come through from the phone's speaker. If I'm in the meeting, I would just switch via profile into one of those "special ringtone". Special ringtone could be mosquitoe ringtone (ultrasonic frequency ringtone which I can hear but some others can't), sound of coughing, or even sound of a vibrating phone, etc. Something that sounds acceptable from etiqeutte standpoint. In addition, my profile would have set the ringing to go from soft to progressively loud. There is no need to actually vibrate.
I like the style of the phone where you can hide it in your shirt with only two wires hanging out. It is much better than hanging it on the ear, which looks really wierd in my own opinion.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Beware of fake HBH DS970 from ebay sellers.
I did a quick research on this, and noted that many have bought from Hong Kong sellers mainly, but some are out of US too.
If you have it very cheap, it's likely to be a fake.
Attached are some articles related to these fake items.

Tritton - Another Option
Here is another option I came across while looking for a BT solution. The Tritton relies on the housing to clip on your pocket, shirt or coat but I have also used it with a lanyard when wearing a t-shirt. It also allows you the option of using any stereo headset with a 3.5 mm plug.
It is a very clean, mimimalist design (no blinking blue light) with an OLED display and Caller ID (number only) to conserve battery and relies on only 3 buttons for all the functions. So far it has worked very well with the Advantage and the range for both headset and stereo functions has been excellent with no static or popping at all. You can actually keep your device in your pocket, bag or briefcase without any degradation to audio quality. The only con is that there is not vibration feature.
I purchased mine at Tiger Direct for less than $100.
While trying to source for DS980, I came across DS220, which seems to be similar to DS980 except you're free to plug in your 3.5mm earphone of your choice if you wish.
Has anyone used this before? If so, how is the sound quality?
Anyone knows if there are other differences between DS980 and DS220?
bizarre this thread should appear as i bought some of these this very day for 40 quid from Cex, though they are brand new and CERTAINLY not fake. certainly if they are available for twenty quid il be gutted!! they seem to work fine. sound quality is great and i dont feel like a **** wearing them. all good then. the only thing i havent figured is whether i can get it to automatically open up media player when i press play. i also cant get it to work with my n95 - after pairing it just says 'unable to connect'. stupid n95.

my main gripe with the sony units is that they have their own propriety charger connection, a kinda bastardised Sony phone charger.
IMHO the tritton unit is much better, recently upgraded to one from a hbh-ds970
i guess it all depends on each other's preferences. some like the headset to vibrate, some like it hanging via neckstrap, etc.
this is what i've been using for 2 years now:
http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/products_spec.asp?cid=2&pid=02030
it's an r35 itech unit. i use the white one and i like it for the following:
- no need to hang it in your ear all the time
- minimalistic and you can hide it in your shirt collar...or clip it
- has a built in buzzer that i can hear even when outdoors. when a call comes there are 2 beeps that go off. they won't stop until i answer or the caller hangs up
- my x7500 is either in my laptop bag, the diaper bag or in a backpack. so this saves me the trouble of carrying it all the time
- during meetings, i can disable the buzzer and change the notification to rapid light mode. basically, i leave it on the table so when a call comes through the normal flashing light turns to 2 rapid flashes
- i can change the single earphone to dual for a2dp stereo use. the headset also allows me to skip to the next track or go back to the previous, etc
- and i can plug my nifty bose noise cancelers on it as well
cheers
I really cant understand why no one does the following:
a2dp
usb chrging
option for using your own headphones
vibrate
full caller id- not just number
sms viewing
full music controls
mp3 id tag display
lanyard or clip on option
equaliser controls
oled
wm and symbian compatitibilty
Surely it can't be that difficult- I just wanna be able to leave my Ameo in my pocket until I choose to take it out
Hi, everyone.
tl;dr: Phone calls kill the music player (presumably due to low memory), although the navigation keeps going. How can I stop it killing the music?
Bit of background.
I have a Milestone currently running CM7. I like Android 2.3, and I'd like to keep it if possible, but I would consider switching to any ROM that supports 2G/3G switching in Tasker (which means no stock ROMs) if it'll solve this problem.
I use my phone to provide music in my car because I use it almost constantly for navigation. I have a Tasker profile set up so that when I plug something into the headphone socket (including, for example, my tape deck adapter because I'm too poor to get a proper car dock) the phone asks if I want to go to car mode. On selecting this, it switches to 3G only (so as not to interfere with the speakers), turns off wifi, fires up GPS and starts Car Home, as well as activating some auto-respond and reading aloud profiles to deal with SMS. From there I normally hit Navigate and then get some music up either in the default player or Spotify.
So I was trying this out yesterday. Since updating to CM7 my phone seems to be able to more reliably keep music playing, whereas it'd often close the music app at the end of a song with CM6 (Spotify, oddly, was more reliable). Good. Until I get a phone call, at which point it kills the music player entirely, although the navigation does come back at the end of the call.
This makes sense. The call is more important than the navigation which is more important than the music so it kills the music. Thing is, I'd like to keep all three going. I hate driving without music and leaning over to fiddle with my phone while driving is going to get me killed one day.
I've used zeppelinrox's guide to supercharge my phone and I'm running with Auto Memory Manager at 6, 8, 24, 26, 28 and 30. I haven't bulletproofed the launcher... yet. Thing is I'd be happy for the launcher to die while I'm in my car so I'm not sure I want to do that. It's also running overclocked to 900MHz max on the interactive governor (or was, I've just this minute switched it to smartass but I doubt that matters).
My phone, incidentally, is doing nothing in particular right now and has 44MB free (I have a bunch of home screen widgets but I don't think I'm being excessive).
That's not a lot, it's probably not enough to run a music player, navigation and a phone call. I get that. But a phone with 256MB total RAM should be able to handle those three tasks simultaneously.
Here's what it does in my car that I care about (in priority order):
Taking calls.
Navigation.
Music (either the Android app or Spotify).
Tasker (sitting on my "in car" profile but not actively doing things unless I receive an SMS in which case it auto-replies).
Receiving text messages.
Car home.
Receiving emails.
Here's what I think it's doing that I don't care about:
Syncing Facebook/Twitter.
Software updates.
Home screen widgets.
Whatever else Android does when it's idle.
I've just had the notion while typing this that having Tasker disable sync while in the car might be a good move (to stop emails, Facebook and Twitter). This might free up extra memory. I don't know enough about Android to be sure of this, but I could give it a try. I'd rather not have to though because emails are sometimes important enough to pull over and deal with, or at least have my passenger read out. Facebook and Twitter aren't, obviously.
Any other tips? Would it be possible to build a script in Tasker to raise the priority of things I commonly use in my car and drop the priority of everything else? I'd also like to bulletproof my launcher while in normal use but not so much while I'm in the car.
Thanks.
First a workaround.
You can add a short cut to the music player in Car Home (the google car home you can, anyway)
So at least you have a big easy button to hit to run it.
You can also try and bulletproof the app with a gscript.
Yep, got the music apps in Car Home. I like the Google one, the Motorola one is useless.
I don't know how I missed that thread but I shall give it a go. Cheers.
It's hit and miss but apparently it works pretty good for the music app
Hey folks:
Just made the switch from Android to Windows Phone 7 and I'm loving it. The phone does exactly what I need it to do and it does it well. I'm only having one issue that's really troublesome to me:
I'm listening to music, and whenever I receive a text message, of course, the phone display lights up to notify you. The problem occurs when I'm playing music, and the phone is in my pocket, and I receive a text message; during the time the display lights up, me moving around with the phone in my pocket causes the Zune lock screen controls to be hit every once in a while, so my phone either skips to the next song, or rewinds, or fast forwards, etc. Is there a way to avoid this problem, other than not listening to music with my phone in my pocket?
Thanks in advance.
I can't seem to replicate this issue. You keeping it in a really tight pocket or have other items in the pocket? Even with the phone in my jeans, I haven't noticed any issues and it seems that even a layer or two of clothing prevents me from activating any of the touch controls. Maybe you are bumping into one of the side buttons? I have read about issues on other phones, and most typically just move the phone to another location (or a holster-type) to prevent it.
Thanks for the response. I was wearing slacks, so the pocket fabric is quite thin. Maybe I'll try positioning the phone in my pocket to where the screen isn't facing away from my leg, and see if that helps.
Again, totally blown away by how smooth this phone is. Really enjoying it.
I was watching a Galaxy S4 commercial that featured the ability to answer calls with a wave over the device. I thought that was actually kind of cool, so I went searching in the Play store to see if there was an app that replicated that feature.
I found something called Wave Control (and Wave Control Pro), so I promptly downloaded it and installed it on my One. The standard app doesn't let you do much customizing of the wave features, but I was able to test the basics with music control. What the app does is it looks for triggers of the proximity sensor and uses that determine what commands to send to the device.
Unfortunately, it looks like the sensor in the One isn't the best for this kind of app. The default is a hover to play/pause music (hold your hand over the sensor), a wave for next track, 2 waves for the previous track, and 3 waves to enable/disable wave control. For the One, I could only get play/pause and next track to work. The proximity sensor seems to be too slow to detect multiple waves. After the first wave, the sensor seems to ignore inputs for a bit longer than is needed for the app to work.
Just to make sure it wasn't just me not understanding how the app worked, I tried it on my Nexus 4 and it worked fine. The sensor on that phone was a lot faster to react to whatever my motions were.
This is disappointing because it looks like I will need the Pro version if I want to answer phone calls with a wave of my hand. The default is one wave to silence the ringer, 2 waves to answer the call (which doesn't work on my One).
Just wondering if anyone is willing to give it a try and see if it works better on their One vs. my One.
Just installed for you yes music is working but phone is not shame

Yup, exactly the same for me. The sensor just wouldn't work with multiple waves, only play/pause and next track.

Cool. Thanks for the updates guys!
I guess it really is a gimmick, but it would be cool if it would work better. I did find one annoying little quirk. Since I have it set to work with the screen off, anytime something covers the sensor, it will start playing music. This could be me reaching over to turn on the phone, or a paper covering it, or me picking the phone up by the top side. I'll probably play with the app a bit more, but I'm not sure it's a keeper.
Yeah i uninstalled already lol
Just tried it... Just uninstalled it, tbh, i got quite frustrated with it. lol
This is not really specific to the S10s, but since the galaxy buds came with it, I'm asking here.
If anyone has the galaxy buds, could you go to Wearable app, then about earbuds, then tap multiple times on device name, you will get a debug page with an option to self test the buds.
I get failed results for the proximity sensors, I wonder if it's just a software problem or something is wrong with my earbuds.
View attachment 4721440 View attachment 4721441
Further, I just want to convey my frustration with the connectivity, first it has a serious problem with the Facebook Messenger, it would not route the call to the earbuds, I have to reconnect them once or twice. Second, they constantly fall out of sync during calls, as in one bud would be a second ahead of the other.
Other than those issues, nothing really much to complain about, the sound quality is good, microphone quality and sensitivity are good, battery life is awesome.
Same..haven't done any calls long enough for them to drop yet but my music has lagged a few times and one time they completely turned themselves on and off after breaking up too muchView attachment 4721554

Same here, it happened a few times where they restart themselves, let's hope we get a fix soon.
Thank you for sharing your test results, it appears to be normal then.
Got the a few hours ago, so not much usage time. However I will test them over the next few days, also with whatsapp and messenger calling and revert.
One other thing - the buds work as a single earpiece, perfect for calls at the office. That was a big surprise. You can put one in ear, one back in the box, and the one in the ear works as a single unit. Will test that too and may then retire my headset. The sound during calls is very good and also the sound reported by callers and the music plays very good too, not over done. Do remember to switch on the Dolby Atmos on the phone and the equalizer for the buds (my favorite is the dynamic setting).
Best of luck with them - for the moment they seem very good.

Thank you for the input, I am satisfied with the sound quality as well both in calls and in music, and I have the Dolby Atmos + dynamic equalizer on all the time.
I am using the Galaxy Buds and when talking to through the buds on Phone calls I sound muffled not very clear. Does anyone know why?
ive got 2 pairs of the buds, one for me and one for the wife. mine have been flawless and my wifes go out of range at like 3 ft sometimes. and its like a 1 ear thing sometimes. Then we re-pair and they work for an hour then do the same thing. wonder if its going to be a software update or i need to do a warranty.
I just ran 4 tests on my black Galaxy buds, results are as follows:
In case (1st time):
-All accelerometers failed
Removed from case, laying flat on table:
-All pass
Inserted into both ears:
-Both (Left & Right) proximity sensors failed
In case (2nd time):
-All pass
got an update pushed about an hour ago. hopefully this fixes everything.
I've had the same thing happen to me. I discovered that if I tried to do the self test while wearing them, I would get a fail but when they are in my hand or just laying on the table it would pass. Hope this helps.
