i'm having a problem with the band not switch when its low on signal. for example i will get the H and when it drops down to 1 or no bars it doesn't switch to E. also some times when the reception is around 2 or 1 and its on H, i would drop calls or can't call out at all. for some reason i've noticed that the reception issue happenes a lot and i would have to change the band to GSM and 850, 1900, then it would stay on E.
anyone has this problem or know a fix?

I was about to suggest you flash a different radio, but then I noticed that you're on AT&T. It's just your network being crap.
I believe the network sets the rules on handing your cellphone signal over to another tower. Only thing you can do is tell your phone to force EDGE or HSPA.
yea when ever i have no signal i have to force it and the best i can get is edge. but this wasn't an issue before? could it be a hardware issue?
Depends on carrier too. I have such issues sometimes.
But X1 also tries to keep 3G/HSDPA as much as possible...
YEAH I BEEN GETTING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH MY XPERIA, I HATE IT BECAUSE IT IS LIKE IM BEING LIMITED OFF GOOD RECEPTION SIGNAL. SOMETIMES I CANT MAKE CALLS AT ALL. cOULD AT&T BE DOING THIS TO ALL CELLPHONES LIKE MY X1, SINCE THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME 30 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR UNLIMITED INTERNET,SO I COULD GET 3G SPEED, SOMETHING I DIDNT HAVE BEFORE, BUT I STAYED WITH MY REGULAR INTERNET SPEED, AND NOW I EVEN GET FASTER INTERNET SPEED THAN MY BROTHERS AT&T HTC fUZE 3G PHONE.
Well just a FYI, but AT&Ts network isn't the great in San Franciso anyway.
Moto X on AT&T MVNO - signal strength drops to 0 briefly - phone or carrier problem?
I've got the Moto X GSM developers edition with Kitkat 4.4 unlocked and rooted. I am on H2O wireless (AT&T MVNO).
Several times a day, I'll hear a quick beep in my bluetooth headset alerting me to the fact that I have no mobile signal. I look at the phone and I have zero bars for maybe 30 seconds and then it goes back to (usually) 4 bars. This happens at home, where I always seem to have 4 bars except for these incidents, so it is not like I am in a marginal signal area and it is going between 1 and 0 bars. Is this likely a problem with the phone or with the carrier? I switched from PagePlus (Verizon MVNO) when I got the Moto X, so I don't have a history AT&T with another phone to look back on. I never had this happen when I was on Verizon towers with my previous phone (Droid 2 global).
I don't know if the loss of signal is real or a bug in reporting the signal strength because it doesn't last long enough to try and make a call. I haven't had any dropped calls, but I don't spend a lot of time talking, so the odds of this happening during a call are low. Still it is a bit of an annoyance and if the loss of signal is real, it will eventually happen during a call.
There may be nothing wrong, the phone may just be scanning for other bands that do not exist in the area. 30 seconds does seem like a long time though. I know when I use AT&T firmware with a different provider in Canada my phone will do exactly the same thing after a fresh firmware install, however after it happens a few times it stops and holds the signal fine. I am guessing it is building a database of what bands and protocols are available in the area. It might not hurt to do a full reset of the phone.

That doesn't sound quite like what my phone is doing because you say it happens a few times, then stops. It happens to me every day and I haven't recently installed firmware.
Anyone else having the same issue as me? On a Moto X or any other phone on AT&T?

This happens to me on AT&T on the GSM (T-Mobile) model sometimes too. It usually happens after a phone call is hung up and it's switching from HSPA back to LTE. Sometimes it's instant, other times it's 10-30 seconds.
According to the Sprint coverage, I should be getting solid LTE coverage in Hartford. I rooted my phone over a year ago (currently on BadBoyz Sense 6 ROM) and I believe I've done the proper maintenance, but the LTE reception I'm getting is abysmal. I can usually load things faster on 3G when I switch from LTE/CDMA to just CDMA. Not to mention the battery drain from lack of "coverage."
That leads me to question whether or not I've missed something I should have done for my phone, if it's just my location in my building at work (though it shouldn't be as I'm right next to a window), if Sprint is lying, or if I messed something up with my latest flash(es) of the ROMs - any ideas?
Thanks!
Sprint and most carriers exaggerate their coverage to look better and different phones pick up different signals better/worse than others. I also get poor LTE in places Sprint claims ought to be excellent.
Here are a couple of apps that use the signal ACTUAL users are getting (crowd-sourced data)
Sensorly: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sensorly.viewer
Open Signal: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.staircase3.opensignal
You can help fight this exaggeration by letting the FCC run random network checks on your phone. They use this data to hold carriers accountable to their promises.
FCC Speed Test: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samknows.fcc
Thanks for the info.
It's not so much that it's a poor (read: slow) connection, it's that it cuts out to the point that I usually can't even download MMS messages in my group chats. As soon as I disable LTE and switch to 3G, I receive them, but at a slow, expected, pace.
With Verizon I started to have drops in signal all together and rarely could connect to 4g. I went and activated a sprint account and it first things seemed fixed. Now 24 hours later my phone will not connect to 4g even though signal monitors show a LTE connection, I have to force a 3g connection to have internet. This is happening in areas with great 4g coverage for both providers. Would you consider this a defective phone? Has anyone else experienced these issues? Any help would be great both Verizon and sprint seem to be at a lost about what's causing this.
One of the great things about this device on Verizon's network is instant LTE service. In my house I have dead areas which cause my signal to drop. When trying to get LTE back it can sometimes take 30 seconds or more because once I get to an area with service it will first go to 3G and then sometimes get stuck on it and I'll have to toggle airplane mode to get LTE back in a timely manner. With the OnePlus6T as soon as I have service it goes instantly to LTE! This is the first time I've ever had a device connect to LTE so fast. All my previous devices over the past 5 years since I've had LTE in my area have annoyed me because they always go to 3G first even though I have strong LTE service where I live.
I've always wondered why companies can't make their phones instantly connect to LTE when it's there and why they always favor 3G -- but this is no longer an issue since the OP6T doesn't have 3G on Verizon

What now happens in the areas where you only had 3G on your old phone? On your new Oneplus 6T do you just have no signal at all since it is only a LTE phone?

Well, I'm assuming that in none LTE areas I'll have no signal at all. But, Verizon's whole network has been converted to LTE as far as I know. I never go anyone where I don't have LTE (and I live in the sticks). But in the off chance that happens I have 2 lines and my Pixel 2XL is still in service.

I too am on Verizon, and in my office at work, one of the places I had zero service on Axon 7, I still get calls and text and one spotty bar of LTE. At my house, in the basement bedroom where I have missed countless calls and txts, I have 3 bars of signal and no issues with calls, txts, or LTE.
I drive all around my county for work, and so far, I havent hit a no service area. on the Axon 7, they were evident. It could just be better coverage due to glass back vs metal (the real reason OEMs have switched to glass back imho) or the better modem of the SD 845, but hands down, the cdma-less VZW is far superior for me IRL usage so far.
This is obviously subjective, but despite living in a rural area, I have no need for cdma so far. Vzw is the only carrier with good coverage where i live (upstate SC) and somehow, cdma-less is better.

LTE only in *#*#4636#*#*
2g/3g/4g in Preferred Network Type
Yeah I was in a spot Friday that goes to 3g or no signal often. I still had some sort of signal. It had an R and an H on the signal bar I believe. It worked fine and was still pretty fast online. Signal is way better than any of the Pixels was.
When I select LTE only I get two signal icons in the status bar.
Just curious will wifi calling / VOLTE work on Verizon?

Volte has worked for me since the moment the tech I chatted with switched my sim to CDMA-less. Case and point, I am in the section of my house with the worst reception, a spot where the Axon 7 I came from got zero service on tmob and Verizon. Yet, much to my heart's content, I have service and VOLTE in the downstairs Faraday cage that is my house.
To the second part, no, Verizon doesn't support wifi calling on this device yet. Hopefully, they will work that out soon, but so far, I am having the best network experience I have had yet with Verizon.

Wow, just reset mine and noticed. I guess I had defaulted back to LTE/CDMA/UMTS, which apparently works fine. When I switched to LTE only, you are correct, double LTE icons in the status bar. I don't remember it doing that on 9.0.4. That being said, the other, default setting works perfectly fine for me.
Did y'all not have any problems sending/receiving MMS (not SMS) when your phone was in LTE only mode? I had to manually switch back to the default preferred network type from the dialer menu in order to fix that issue.
I had no problems at all I did the following.
1.Ordered new SIM card
2.Turned off old phone and took out SIM from old phone
3.Went on my Verizon account put in info on BYOD
4. Insert New SIM in 6T
Finish Setting up in your Verizon account then turn on the 6T
Done all working
I was worried because my old phone was 3G but the LTE is everywhere I always have signal.
