Kingo root drivers - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody has drivers for Z1 that are necessary to finish rooting via kingo root?
I installed drivers provided with flashtool (also for fastboot) but still kingo root app is persistently downloading drivers and then after finishing downloads it starts downloading once again.
Transfer rate is uber lame - 3kb and I've been trying all day

Thanks, but turns out those are the same I had already installed looks like kingo requires some additional drivers.

Haha yup I had the same problem.
I just gave up and used Vroot and now I'm pre rooted on latest firmware

hah I'm about to do the same but I just wanted to give my branded rom last chance
U used Vroot on flashed .534 then OTA to .257? Or had whatever was installed on your device - just rooted and then OTA?
Thanks

I had the same problem but I've re-installed Kingo, restarted my laptop and Bum! Rooted in no time.
If you use VRoot, you will have annoying Chinese messages popping up and this root can cause a problems when updating through OTA...

from:

And if downloading takes to long the time xpires...I tried it for about an hour or so with pause..resume and then the then an error xpire time out error. Let's try again

Thanks for that! Good finding!
Yeah, I remember that first time it didn't install anything, just loop dl/install, but after reboot and re-installation it asked for permission to install unsigned driver (twice) and then it worked just fine! Now, it's rooting every time without downloading anything..

It seems like Kingo root program creates a one time download file with a expire. And ofcourse above link is created on the fly. Everytime you start it changes the parameters. SO best way is Wireshark, start kingo and try downloading till it works.
---------- Post added at 01:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 PM ----------
Can you find the download somewhere on your computer (c:/program files/kingo root/) I think it's in files or setup. Then it's usable

Thanks for that - didn't occur to me to check trace... Well I tried using that link with no success - download is interrupted after a while and cannot be resumed because link expired. But afaik the Google USB driver is part of ADK. So I installed that but the current revision is 9 so kingo still looks for 7
EDIT: Tried in the early morning hours and without changing anything the rooting succeeded.

[ROOT][KitKat] Root method for new KitKat update!

I have found and tested a root method for the new 4.4.2 update that came out yesterday to the public.
Download Odin https://mega.co.nz/#!fJRkzTQL!uUN3LLhSCXIHtEFUlUDyPdf48rgEXj1wh5mgV5q8TkU
Download this file https://mega.co.nz/#!DdhkzBIZ!2wjBE5cGRnu1hIRuID3o05yjJb_Xe3C6gfEq1LwQn1g
Flash in ODIN and allow to reboot
THIS WILL TRIP YOUR KNOX COUNTER!
**This method is NOT mine. I found this through google searching, and give all credit to that developer, who I now have come to know is @Chainfire.**
Edit: added developers name after searching, so I could give proper credit.
I just used cf auto root that I used to root my phone when i got it with mf9 and it still works for me on 4.4.2 lol.

This did not work for me it says su binary is missing any ideas?
It's a no-go.... But don't worry.
Downloaded and tried to use auto root file you have linked. Didn't work. In ODIN, gives MD5 sum doesn't match error.
I did try using an old CF-Autoroot that I had, that didn't work either.
I then downloaded it from the CF-Auto-Root Repository site, and viola. Worked like a charm.
I was on MK2, rooted. I had to flash back to MK2 stock, using the file supplied within a tread, (it ain't hard to find), cleared Google Framework and plugged in to charge, checked for Samsung Update. Update to 4.4.2 installed. Had a brief problem when after rebooting and upgrading apps, my screen remained black. I knew it was doing something though because I have pushbullet installed, and was getting the notifications on my PC screen. But a reboot fixed the black screen. I then tried the first two root attempts mentioned above. Then the one from the Repository. Now I'm good to go.
I tried CF autoroot several times and it did not work for me. I Flashed philz recovery and there is an option to reroot your phone and then just download supersu from the playstore. Now works like a charm....

There is only one custom rom out at the moment.. Also.. If you look on the play store there is an app or 2 that installs into the app drawer in the watch that gives you the option of booting into recovery... Bootloader.... Or a regular reboot

Yes but you need root to use the reboot to recovery and bootloader app and at this point we only have temp root. Unless you install the Ron that is out.

I was able to use that app with zero issues on my Gear live, and it worked every time. It may be a temp root (which I didnt realize) , but it still worked regardless via the TWRP method Adam suggested

The only thing is, Adam mentioned using command line WITHIN twrp to remove the superuser after I rooted it. Since the watch doesnt have a keyboard, the only way I was able to accomplish this was to use the twrp built in file explorer, and delete the superuser.apk manually. The app still worked after that as well so I believe I still kept root after removing it
Awesome
Anyone having issues running this tool in Ubuntu? Can't seem to get the tool to launch.
Worked fine for me on windows 8.1. It did freeze when I installed TWRP the first time, I rebooted and then was able to install TWRP with no problem. Thank you!!

What I have done in the past is used root explorer and gone in and deleted the apk myself and rebooted. No uninstall from play store or things like that. That is if root explorer works since you root might be messed up. If that don't do it. Odin back to stock and fresh download every file. Check md5. Start all over. Sorry man

Okay in that case you forgot to enable usb debugging in the phone.
Go to settings and navigate to "about" then scroll down until you see
"build number" once you find that click on it many times until it tells
you that developers option enabled and then go into developers options.
Then check the box which says: "usb debugging" to enable it.
Once that's done odin flash cf-autoroot again and that should
fix your supersu / root issue.
Good luck!
I didnt forget usb debugging. I will try flashing stock i guess

Wuzza? Is that vid for real?!
If not, talk about false advertising.
"maybe needs admin privileges on start up." - nope, it does not.
Root does not work with this soft, maybe it was for an older firmware, but TBH, it looks like a nice video montage, but nothing really happened (maybe no phone was connected either).

This is my first post, and I joined specifically to share this. It took me many hours of searching and trial and error to get my phone rooted, so I'm taking the risk of being called a shill to make this post. I hope it helps someone.
I was able to use Wondershare MobileGo to root my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 on Lollipop version OC1 (NOT OF1).
At first the only root option that worked for me was installing the Kingroot APK. This did give me root, but only through Kingroot, not SuperSU. Naturally I wanted to use SuperSU, so this is what I did:
1. Installed MobileGo.
2. Clicked on “One-Click root”
3. MobileGo said it has gained root access however, SuperSU still would not work.
4. I then uninstalled KingRoot and ran MobileGo root.
5. Presto, it gave me root and SuperSU now works!
6. Uninstalled MobileGo
7. Still have root
There were a couple of phone reboots mixed in there, but that's the general idea. Clearly this doesn't work for everyone, but it was the ticket for me. YMMV.

[SOLVED] Safe to continue?? or start again? please help

This is driving me nuts... I was on 5.1.1 and I am trying to get it rooted.
I'm following a guide which goes like this..
1. downgrade to kitkat 4.4 using flashtool
2. root 4.4
3. Install custom recovery
4. Flash 5.1.1 pre-rooted zip
I have had problem after problem and I think something may have screwed up along the way.
I finally managed to get kitkat installed using flashtool and a generic C6903 .108 ftf.
Problem 1... I used 'Easy Root tool' from xda to root kitkat... but it seemed to hang at the cleaning up' stage - is this a problem?
Problem 2... every time I restart my phone - kitkat asks what language etc. Whats that all about?
PROBLEM 3. The guide Im following says to install busybox after rooting kitkat.
I've tried 2 different busybox installers and both of them fail when trying to install bb.
QUESTION: Are these 3 problems linked and will it prevent me from continuing with the guide I am trying to follow??? i.e. do I need busybox to install XZ Dual Recovery and therefore a pre-rooted zip?
Root Checker basic says kitkat is rooted, as does the first busybox installer.
I'm taking a short break from this nightmare, so in the meentime if any of you chaps could advise me on whether or not its ok to continue or if I have fecked up the whole process, that would be great.
Thanks in advance
problem 1 : re run the installer again, don't use administrator mode
problem2 : use any simcard on your phone
others, sorry i have no idea, you could download busybox from playstore ?
I would just start over and try a different root program. busybox is failing to install because the root didn't work.

Cheers bud, I'll try 'easy root tool' once more without admin priv, if its the same story I'll start over and try a different root tool. Any suggestions on that?
Also: how come root checker says I'm all good and rooted but busybox wont install? even one of the busybox installers says "Your device is rooted"!?!?

i think you don't have supersu installed, and busy box couldn't get root rights
so download supersu from playstore, open it and update binaries as normal, then reboot
and you would be able to install bb

Try the suggestion made by @Gamer4Life, just in case you somehow got root but it failed to install the APK needed to manage it. Might save you some work. That would explain why everything thinks you're rooted.
As for an alternative, if you still need it, I think I used kingroot successfully on 4.4.4.

Thanks mate. I was hoping Gamer4life might be right as there was no Supersu installed.
I installed supersu from play store no problem... but when I try to update binaries it says' update failed. Please reboot and try again.'. tried reboot but same story.
I guess I'll try 'easy root tool' again and then will give kingroot a bash if needbe.
One last pre-emptive question...
If I root kitkat using kingroot... should I replace kinguser with supersu before proceeding with XZDR and a pre-rooted zip or will kinguser be sufficient to continue.
Many thanks to you and everyone else who has tried to help me with this clusterf*ck,.. I appreciate it
can you screenshot the error you got ?
i reread your op, you don't need busybox to install dual recovery, it installs like the easy root installer, very easy
just one click and you are ready to go
also xzdualrecovery will root your device and install supersu by default if you have kitkat, so you can skip that.
edit (i don't think this will work because towelroot doesn't work on z1 4.4.4 108)

must have been a glitch in the matrix mate becuase its now working (Possibly thanks to your suggestion of installing Supersu?).
I reconnected to PC in order to give 'easy root tool' another crack at it.
As soon as I start install.bat It says checking if device is rooted AND I get a superuser request on my phone for adb.shell - Happy days!
I granted root access to adb shell and the root tool says Job Done. Root success etc.
So I disconnect and try to update su binaries and it worked first go!!!
*Touch wood* I think I'm now past the tricky part and it should be plain sailing from here on in. lol
THANKS for the help Gamer4Life, and everyone else who has chipped in.... hopefully my next post will be to report a fully rooted 5.1.1 :fingers-crossed:
