[q]downgrade with ruu - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I will s-off my phone in few days
Can i downgrade hboot with ruu?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

The ruu will reset to stock your phone, not only the hboot.
If you need to change it, flash only the hboot

is ruu work from 2.24 to 1.29?
Sorry about bad english

I'm not sure. If you find you can't, it's now possible to S-Off on HBOOT 1.54/1.55 with a tool called Rumrunner.

I also have a true S-OFF IncS (via XTC clip), but with HBOOT 2.0x, I still had to relock the bootloader if I wanted to run an official RUU despite having S-OFF. S-OFF did allow me to flash any RUU without the need for a goldcard, but if I didn't relock the bootloader, the RUU would throw a 155 error, so I am speaking from personal experience.

Need clarification on H-Boot and firmware

Hey guys
I searched around and didn't seem to find the answer to my question. Its been a long time since I had an HTC(og Evo) and I think I've read too much to where I have confused myself. I have the Att version,
I've unlocked the bootloader and have S-off using the moonshine method. I am interested in updating my firmware.
As I understand it I have the moonshine custom 1.44 hboot but if I update my firmware will it not update my hboot to 1.54 which has no S-off yet?
I guess my main question is does the firmware update change my hboot and if it does will it mess with my S-off status or worse brick my phone.
I know I sound like a noob but ive been flashing for years, just a little turned around on the HTC side of things.
Thanks in advance!

Nothing you flash here will remove s-off. Hboot is the bootloader. These firmware zips include the hboot and drivers for things like touchscreen.

[REQ] RUU for 1.31 firmware

I'm looking to RUU my phone back to stock, but I've already installed the 1.31 update. I didn't have any luck with Revone to get S-OFF so I'm just looking for a tool that can get me back to stock unrooted with the 1.31 firmware. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't you just flash Indirect's stock 1.31 rom and relock your bootloader?
I was kinda in the same situation on 1.31, but I was able to use revone to get s-off and then the 1.29 RUU worked fine.

How would that affect future OTA's from Sprint?

Maybe I'll try Revone again and see if I have any luck.

Why would you want to take an ota? HTC is notorious for locking things down more and more with every update they are trying to make it harder and harder for us you do anything to our devices. Case in point all the folks that updated their phones can no longer get s-off until a new exploit is found. One of the reasons we get s-off is so we don't have to take the ota

[Q] Rumrunner custom hboot

So if I flash the custom hboot from rumrunner, and say I need to return the device to sprint, for whatever reason, do i simply reflash the ruu to return to stock? or do i have to first flash the stock hboot? Im sure this is a stupid question, but I wanna make sure.

Yes and no. Your custom hboot and recovery will be replaced with the stock one, but your phone will still read s-off and unlocked. I suggest that you flash this hboot, you'll look completely stock, locked, s-on. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565201

Oh okay thank you, thats all I needed to know
Can I flash this hboot over using a stock rooted 3.05.651.6 rom being s-off? Or is it only good for 3.04.651.2 roms. I currently have the moonshine hboot but want to upgrade to something that compatible with windows 8.1.

Yes you can. Hboot is completely indipendent from the ROM

Yeah he's right about that. Specifically since both Rom versions from stock use the same hboot version.

S-off after s-on

I've tried all I know without success. I did s-off a while back and I did s-on I don't remember why, but now I need to get s-off to return my phone to AT&T without issues. I have hboot 1.44 it has June date. I'm running a stock 4.1.2 and software 1.26. When I tried to run revone it gave me a error-1. I've tried runruner and nothing. I don't know what to do. :banghead:
