Guys i hv experienced 1 strange problem... My xperia sp camera gets blur or oiled something on lens and it cant remove with all types of cleaning process...
Actually it starts from a story:-
Me and my friend "techkeeda" have the same xperia sp.. Around 2 months ago his camera get blur and when i compared it ith my new sp, mine was super clear... So we decided to get fixed from service center.... But some how with tight schedule we couldn't go to service center.... but what i got!!! with the passage of time my friend's xsp camera get cleared and mine was get dirt and blur same like my friend's xsp...
I dont know from when that problem gets started and how long it continues... 3 days ago we both installed ExistenZ rom and then checked both cameras... After installing that rom camera gives better outputs but mine jst blur blur blur.....
Anyone have any solution of this problem?? Plz share

Even my lens has no scratches but still... ;(

Ensure there's no layers of "protective frames" on top of the camera
Catching my breath, letting it go, turning my cheek for the sake of the show
Jst checked... But there is no protection kind of thing over there.... Even during ensuring the protective layer got scratch on glass with my nails
But doesnt matter my older phone has so many scratches but camera works jst fine...

Hey problem solved... Cleaned the lens with my mom's nail paint remover with hard rubbing.... Still some parts here and there are blur but i'll clean it out... Thanx to all......

bro, what kind of scratches? does the scratches are over the glass covering the lens? how do you fix it?
i have the same problem today, i get blurry pictures because of the scratches all over the glass covering the lens.
is there any problem to fix this? or we don't have the same problem?
If the glas is scratched go to a local store and ask them if it possible to replace it. (It should be possible).
But try to clean it first
Bro the glass of lens still have many scratches but not deep scratches... I think i didnt use camera from around 1 month (as camera was jst the name sake) so may be the dirt get sticked over it... But after existenz rom camera jst gone to the next level so i need itto be cleared and finally i apply nail polish remover with cotton and rub it with hard hands then cleaned it with new cotton and applied 1 tip or cold cream ( i use to apply clod creame on dvd and cd when they got many scratches and it worked ) then cleaned it with very soft puece of cloth... And here it is my camera...

thanks for the information bro. but im afraid that if i put any solution to the camera like what you have used (nail polish remover and cold cream), i think that some of the solution might enter the camera and can seriously damage it.
I think the glass is sealed pack... Otherwise dust could also come inside glass... Keeping this thing in mind i took that step... Actually i was afraid too...

did any of LG 2x users tried to take down the back cover of their phone and then take the picture?
yesterday i accidentaly broke that plastic part on the back cover while cleaning (the part that says "8M" and protects the lens/flash) and discovered that it's blurry as hell and can't be cleaned much...

Haha same thing here, the pictures are awful now.
If you want you can clean it with isopropyl alcohol and then put a new back on.

i tried to clean it with a liquid specified for monitor cleaning - but nothing happened...
btw how can picures be worse without the blurry cover? they can only be better
My felt off like 6 months ago, and I think it pohos looks better without it.
They are cleaner without the back cover, but hace you tryed andyCP's camera mod (gingerbread) i have taken my best pictures with it, by far the cleanest images

yes, it's good to have it covered for preventing any mechanical damage to the lens but in my case i rarely keep anything else in the phone pocket...
when the phone seats on the table, the lens is still protected from the mechanical damage because it isn't in the same level with the table but slightly inside the back battery cover...
only dust can access it...
however... it was just an idea
Hello, so yesterday i noticed some scratches on the camera lens and i can feel them with fingernails. So i googled about scratches on lens and almost everywhere they said it does not affect pictures that much but when i try to take pics with my SP they turn out to be fuzzy/blurry.Im afraid the warranty doesnt cover it too
Any advice what should i do?
Sorry for my english and if this thread is in the wrong section feel free to move it
after 2 months the camera lens looks terrible. im not using protective case but it is in pocket on its own no keys or lighter next to it. somehow the camera LENS got nice scratches. there is a purple color shine on the lens like on eyeglasses which supposed to be scratch resistant layer but it has gone completely. since the lens is not covered physically i have to clean the fine dust off the lens to take photo. what i see the on closer look is that the scratches are drawing circles that makes me think the lens is so soft material that the cleaning causing the scratches. i guess its plastic. i havent checked it yet but after replacing it ill do a test. i ve found on sony support forum a link where u can buy replacement lens which is by description 100% glass.
interesting that the screen itself is very durable but this tiny round lens is a crap. disappointing from sony. very stupid mistake of chosing this material for such a nice phone. i am thinkin to call them and make a complaint. :crying:
Yup, mine is scratched too, every photo looks like Joan Collins c1986.
I believe it's just stuck on so should be easy to replace.

faulty assembly?
My mate said that purple layer is a kinda filter (flare,uv or whatever) supposed to face to camera. Is that possible?

I have the same problem, and I just bought one.
Here's a question for people who have changed it : do you have to unscrew the back of the phone (not just the back cover) or can you change it directly ?
From what I've seen, the lens and the "camera ring" might be "glued" directly, but might as well have to come off from the inside.
Another thing, there's one screw that's not directly visible, it's under the antenna, at the bottom of the phone...
Some help would be really appreciated !
Thx
I managed to get the ring off with just my finger nails, the ring and lens are two separate pieces, when the ring is off, the glass sits in a recess, so may be a bit tricky to remove.

Is there any purple coating on the replacement lens? If no than its just a plain glass and not like the original. I will just polish off the coating. On photo there is sharp area just as the clean area of the lens.
Thanks for the tip @technaudio.
@r1kkHUN : I'll tell you when I get it, but since it's an original part, I guess it'll be there, i'd make no sense otherwise.
Good luck with the polishing, I'm affraid I doubt it'll solve the problem though.
T cut or some fine rubbing compound that you polish a car with might work?

Hi.
Just got the new lens, and changed it.
Easy and fast, and the result is perfect, and for only 11€
There isn't any purple coating on the new one I got, but it seems to be okay, I'll try to take pictures in the sun as soon as the weather gets better.
I did a little guide about it on a french forum, if you want to have a look at the pictures.

It's very easy to replace the back glass that does include a new lens. If it bugs you that much that's an option.

You have to heat up the back then the adhesive comes loose, make sure you order a back glass that has the adhesive already applied and then you reheat that when you put it on. I did it on my Xperia Z and it worked fine. It's basically just a piece of waterproof tape that keeps the water out.
Or mayb you can use some p2000 waterproof sandingpaper and allot of patients? Don't know for sure, replacing is always possible...

Can you mayb try to polish the back after removing? I am quite anxious to know if it would work, in that case 1 can pollish the whole phone, also the frame (to end up with an mirror/chrome finish)?

Hi!
I ordered this (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/for-...cover-back-housing-back-glass/1603707841.html) back plate two weeks ago and it arrived yesterday, my old one was broken.. I don't know if it's glass or hard plastic, but it's holding up great without any protection!
There is no shatter film on the backplate, so I think its not original but OK.
It was very easy to take the old one off; just some heat, a sharp knife and a guitar pick did the trick.
The new one came with adhesive, and after cleaning the frame it went right on!
All in all very nice, and easy install, may be original, may be not.
Press thanks if I helped you

Hi!
For copyright issues it's blurred on the site, but it's there. First I was worried about the quality of the logo's and branding, but when it arrived, all the logo's (Sony, Xperia, NFC icon, G camera icon) were all very crisp and detailed!
It looks like the real deal
Does anyone have this problem? My Xperia SP, when you looked in a room with lots of light (or in an outdoor environment) it is possible to realize a lot of sand between the touch screen and the LCD panel.
Not to mention my touchscreen, which displays a little "loose" the arc of the phone.
Someone managed to solve it? I've been thinking about dropping my touchscreen without removing your phone (with all care of the world, go through a credit card around the edges to loosen the glue) and then clean the LCD screen and the touchscreen using a soft brush, removing any sand present in that place. Is this a good idea?
Thanks in advance..
I saw a teardown of the phone and the lcd is not glued to the touchscreen this device is really easy to teardown but you won't get further then removing the back cover because of the side screws

I can partially remove the touchscreen without disassembly the phone? Without removing any connector, just to clean the screen.. can i do this?
You have to completely disassemble the phone to separate the digitaliser and the LCD as with most phones manufacturers tend to start with the screen and build up from there is RMA an option because that's the sort of thing covered by warranty

Is really easier? More than disassemble a Xperia Play?
@zenug I have never tried the play but from looking at photos I would say the SP is easier. It's not a difficult phone to disassemble nothing like as hard as certain fruit based phones. Just make sure you go slow there's nothing more frustrating than waiting for a new ribbon to arrive because you damaged one. There are videos on youtube of the teardown. One last thing vv important if it is sand or dust in between the LCD and digitaliser use a can of compressed air to blow it away sand will scratch the glass and ruin the LCD. Fingerprints and smears from cloths are almost impossible to remove. Think fitting a screen protector but cleaner, much cleaner. Try and avoid touching or wiping either surface if possible.

Well, I've cleaned the screen using my ninja technique (passing a card around the screen edges to loosen the glue, I used a brush to clean properly) and not to the problem appears again, I used a kind of "glue" to stick the edges and prevent the entry of dust on the screen. I do not think that is a definite "fix", because it is a McGyver technique that should be resolved by Sony.
sorry for my bad english

Wow if i am not buying the z i will do it too
So, I've had my m8 for a month and a half maybe, with a spigen slim armor case on it at all times. After cleaning my rear lens cover yesterday ( with a soft microfiber cloth) I noticed many small scratches right above the lens area.. Seriously?? I am super careful with my phone, considering I'm really into mobile photography as well. Is the cover made out of plastic?? Whenever I had whipped it in the past, always used extreme care. I can't believe that it's scratched.. Really bums me out that htc would use such weak materials to cover the camera lens. Other than that, the phone is great, no doubt. I can't imagine what it's going to look like in 6 months though.. Any others noticed the same ?

After reading some threads like this I ordered a protector to cover both lenses. Wish I could remember the name now, but you get 2 sets for $3 and I've not seen any effect in pictures. God I wish I could remember the name. Would search but late for work.
Edit: Slickwraps.com
do you guys have cases cuz i have a
OB and mine are fine!
Mine!
I do not use a case, my preference.
My camera window is also scratched with a lot of micro scratches.
My question is, if people are replacing the windows, where are they purchasing the part from? Anyone have a link to a replacement parts site?
I use a tpu case . this is the only smart phone I've had that had this issue and I've owned a lot .

stop putting your phone in your pocket often

After doing some additional research, I found many people having the same issue, that is possibly caused by heating, resulting in the coating not sticking correctly. There is also the assumption that the protective coating was never removed when manufacturing/assembly. I noticed that with slight pressure with just my fingernail on the front camera , same thing happens.. the coating scratches. And btw (for who thinks this is the cause) having the phone in your pocket has zero effect on this issue. I baby my phone , and always have a case on it, and would never put in anything else. Glad there is a simple fix, by removing the coating. However, a good idea would be to purchase a lens protector from slickwrapes just in case.

Well yes, but idk how they got there. My front camera and duo lens were the ones affected. I always have a case on and never have put my phone in any pockets. Only idea I have is cleaning my phone, in which I clean the lenses but shouldn't "scratch" from that. Just seems like a cheap clear coat that easily removes.
