I have a carrier bell C6906, anyone else having problems with .257 firmware it randomly shuts off and I had to hold power key to turn back on again, it seems does that randomly everyday when the phone is on standby (unplug), and with .534 firmware the phone randomly shut off (not as much as .257) and it doesn't turn back on with power button, I had to hold down vol up + power key to boot the phone back up, should I be worry about this problem or its firmware issue, should I bring back for warranty? and the viewing angle is garbage I just tilt 30 degrees the colors are washed out, but no yellow tint.

Bring it in to get replaced. The sooner the better. There's no point in dealing with an issues that's been there since the time you got the phone. I've had mine for 3 weeks now and have had no problems.

I called bell tech support they advice me to do a DOA replacement in bell store, since the phone is less than 30 days old, sucks my phone is only 17 days old and they wont replace it with a black one because its passed 14 days policy even though I got a defective unit at purchase, they have to replace it with same color white as my previous one
I have no problem like that either,
Did you ota update 257? Im stuck with 534 still..

I used flashtool and updated my rogers unit to .257 and mine shut off on its own once in a 10 to 14 day period. Chalked it up to just one of those things but I had some connectivity issues where the data connection icon would disappear and Bluetooth became flakey when connecting to my car so in flashed back to stock rogers ROM and all is good again
If yours is turning off that often I would get it replaced asap

I did the flashtool update for the c6906 generic tft .257, it shuts off 2-4 times a day I had to power back on w power key, so I went back to stock bell .534, it shuts off maybe 1 time in 1-2 day but I couldn't power back on with power key, I plug in the AC and no charging light indicator, so I had to hard reset the phone with vol up + power key hold them for a few seconds till it vibrates, sucky thing is bell store has no more white phone for me to exchange right away, so Im stuck with the defective unit for now, I only have 13 more days left to test out the new device till my DOA replacement expires then my phone would have to sent in by mail for repair
I'm on EE in the UK but running monx rom. My phone has rebooted itself once per day, my friends Z1 which is also in the UK on three has this same issue, I think it's just bad software on Sony's part, probably will be fixed in the future.
Saying that i've only had the phone since yesterday and it's not very welcoming for something like this to happen.

custom rom/bootloader unlock might be the cause of this problem? maybe?
i am still running stock rom, so as 3 of my other friends bought it at the same time also are running stock rom,
we never experienced our phones shuts off by themselves.

I was on bell stock .534, very first time used it and then I turned it off, after that wont power back on, I held down power button nothing happens I plug it in no charging light, the battery was at 60% I had to hold down vol up and + power to hard reset, I just got a replacement and I noticed the back corner glass is chip off broken back top right corner, I cant believe their build quality on their QC department is that bad, now I called bell and they said return the device back to them again tomorrow, but I notice my previous device the screen had tiny dots and lines across the front display when the display is off, now this device has no dots or line its just black glass all I can see perhaps a newer display panel?

whats serial number on yours? i have BH900D and no issue with the screen at all. i noticed bell don't seal the original box so someone(sales or inventory person) might have drop it and not reported it or something... at least bell didn't say the chip is your fault. hopefully your new one has no problems!

Nope the phone did it before it was rooted, also my friends is not rooted and has not been tampered with, as i said i think it's a Sony thing, hopefully i'm wrong.
BH900LM, the screen is better . Don't notice the dots as much previous one, not sure if they gonna blame me for damage yet have to go and see, this display is way better than previous the white is so white compared last product and the viewing angle is improved a little, I wish this device didn't have a tiny chip at the back I would've kept this. I hope my next replacement is as good as this one minus the broken corner hah

I am at my wits end with android devices. I came from a problematic lg optimus g e973 to the z1 only to have constant shutdowns. Where the hell is the quality control on these $700 devices we buy? I'm stock, not rooted, .534 and getting 1-2 shutdowns a day. I have to pop open the sim card cover and press and hold the little red button in order to get my phone to power off then I can power it on normally. This is getting ridiculous.

I no longer have the device, sold it but if I remember correctly, u open pc companion and connect your device and click on update, it will say you already have latest software, just click on repair device and follow the instruction
here is the link http://lionking853.blogspot.ca/2013/10/how-to-root-unroot-sony-xperia-z-z1-z.html go all the way down to unroot xperia, its exact same steps to return to stock

I have already carried out the repair procedure in pc companion, but It doesn't downgrade s/w.
And the other procedure you linked also say I need to downgrade if mine has latest s/w, but as I say, I have no previous stock bell ftf file. The only ftf file I can get is Rogers stock.
Did you do with Rogers stock?

My Xperia Z started to act weird from two days ago, when it started to vibrate during all the time.
I restarted the phone, discharged the battery and recharged it again but it does not help me at all. It keeps vibrating even when the phone is turned off and it seems that it will never stop.
Did you guys had any similar issue?
Plzzz somebody help me:crying::crying::crying:
Did you tried a hard reset?(hold power and Vol Up at least 15 seconds)
And if i understand right, it vibrates too if you shut it down, or only from boot on?

No,not immersed in water.
I now that it seems crazy but the problem started in my pocket when the phone was together with my bio-metric passport for a couple of hours. Maybe it s caused from the chip of the passport?!
I want to share another fact with you:
Always before having this issue when I was pressing the phone from both sides with two fingers close to the menu button it starts vibrating but stops immediately after releasing it. I don't know if it happens to all Xperia Z mobile phones.
Thanks

Doesn't happen on mine.
Maybe you should Send it to a Service Center or go to the shop where you bought it and ask for warranty. Did you Already tried to re-flash Stock Rom using FT?
Try flashing an old 4.1.1 one, it could be the NFC sensor. The downgrade will Also downgrade the NFC software. It may help.
If I should upload mine 4.1.1. ftf, just ask.

no, NFC does not interact with vibrator motor. That two devices is so separated
Sony must replace your phone in any reason. That's definitely sony fault.
Just had the same problem, My sony Z is a repaired one just over a month old. It is Always in a Leather Case. Just 15 min ago the Phone just started vibrating (thought it was a call) non stop. Turned the Phone off but didn't stop. Turned it on again but nothing changed.
meanwhile searched the web for solutions, only thing i could find that it was hardware related.
Since the Phone is little to big for my pocket i thought it could be from flexing the Phone or something like that. So i put it back in it's case, and put it flat on my hand and gave it a firm tap on the back with my other hand. The 2nd try was succesfull and the Phone stopped vibrating.
Checked if normal vibration still works and found no problems.
My experience with the latest Phones is getting worse with every model they (HTC / Sony) release. Feels like the phones suffer more and more from stupid (hardware) problems. Looks like the Urge of releasing a new model every half year is showing its flaws...
Mine vibrating too and getting worse!
The store guy told me it was the cover I had it in. Bollocks. The cover has been off for two weeks and still it vibrates! Seems to be worse if I charge it via a USB charger in my car. Related perhaps? I just tried the suggested holding down of power and volume and it has stopped vibrating. Fingers crossed! Glad I'm not the only one but need a fix
same thing here. my phone is vibrating RIGHT NOW!
my z3 is dual sim model the D6633. only 2 weeks old.
the phone first stop working on the touch screen. phone would not react to any finger. so when its locked, i can use the camera button to wake up and take pictures. still will not respond when i touch it.
then the phone getting warm at top area near the headphone.
so i google it how to turn off z3 with button, so i did, power+ volume
when phone turn back on, no screen. only a black screen with back lighting on. i can tell when i put phone right infront my eye.
then the phone start vibrate!!! none stop vibrate.
at this moment, i CAN turn off the phone with power+ volume but WON'T stop the vibrate.
really need a help, im in US and purchase this Z3 from NEWEGG and it is a DUAL SIM model, can i get warranty in SONY retail store????
GOD! why me
vibration problem
Hello,
I had the same problem.
Sony claims that there products are waterproof.
We as customers like that and want to try it out.
Maybe not in a swimming pool but at least clean it under de faucet.
That should be no problem, it is waterproof right!!!
After a while this vibration problem occur to your device.
Because none of these solutions help to stop this problem I decide to open my Xperia Z2.
My surprise was that I saw very small tracks of water inside!
Then I put it in the hot sun while it was open en the problem disappeared.
My conclusion:
It is NOT waterproof en a small short circuit causes the vibration problem.
I got a secondhand Xperia T a couple of months ago. The phone was originally bought in 2012 in Ireland. The phone is now unlocked to any network.
Friday two weeks ago the phone stoped working. What happened was, the battery was on around 15%. By the time i got round to charging it it had gone flat. After plugging it into the wall charger for around half hour the solid red light was on indicating charging but the phone wouldnt turn on. I left it for a while but it was still the same. I notcied that when i pressed the unlock button the screen would slightly light up but no picture. the phone could recieve texts and calls but i couldnt see anything. I took it to my nearest phone specialist. He tried re installing the software but had no luck. He said it was bricked. I then gave it to my uncle who is usually nifty with these sorts of things. He also came back and said it was bricked. I then did some reading of my own and came across the advise to re install soft ware through pc companion. I did that and it said it was successful but the phone was still the same.
Last night i was following the repair thread on here (cant find link right now)
The problem i had was i didnt know witch stock ftf file i need to download or where to download from.
Can someone give me a link to an irish stock ftf and give me a quick run throuhg of how to fix
P.s. This is whats happening with the phone now:
When plugged into the wall charger I get a green light, that goes out after a few seconds then the changes to red and proceeds to charg normally.
Phone still vibrates, and receives calls.
When the on button and + or - vol are pressed it vibrates like its supposed to but then nothing happens
If it still receives calls and you've already used PCC to repair the software and it said successful then its clearly not bricked... I'd suggest start looking for a replacement screen.

I've had that happen to a laptop a few years ago. Came out of the wintery -10°C outside into the balmy 25°C of a friends home, 2 minutes later I took the laptop iut of the frozen bag and the temp shock was enough to crack the screen.
So yes, it's possible, but with shrinking screen size the probability of this decreases.
I don't know where you're from, but (winter) weather can be an electronics killer. Especially when the device is heating up rapidly after being brought out of the cold into a warm house or car. Rapid temp shifts can lead to cables moving out of their connectors, solder joints cracking and air moisture can condensate and move into delicate electronics
i live in ireland, it is probally 5'c at night in my house where the phone was and it wouldnt be much warmer in the car and then in work, so i dont see that being the problem, especially since it has been colder and had no effect on the phone

Well no its not common, but neither are bricked phones that receive calls, SMS and successfully take a software repair
I stand by what I said but if you want to try flashtool take any stock rom you like just follow the guide. They all have all languages so I'd go for generic CE1 if you want unbranded and CE2 if you want Skyfall theme these are new 4.3 ones. You could even apply a older 4.1 and let it update from that if your region is even out yet.
alright ill try that later then, whats the difference between branded and unbranded.?
also can you link a stock rom for me
My Xperia Sp brought on contract from EE was working fine until earlier this week. The phone had 30% charge left when the phone shutdown. When i went to turn it back on, the phone vibrated three times and nothing happened. I tried plugging the phone into the mains and charging but the phone kept vibrating in a series of three vibrations. I tried the common answer to any problem with this phone and held the power off button at the back in and pressed the on button but this didn't work. I have also tried other combos such as the one Sony emailed me which was to hold power up followed by the on button but this did not work. The next day the phone magically turned on and i used this as an opportunity to back up my data off the internal memory and re-flash the stock android 4.3(12.1.A.0.266). The phone lasted a couple of hours but then did the same as before and kept vibrating. I left the phone a bit and when i got it to power on again, i flashed android 4.1.2 (12.0.A.2.245) onto the phone. The phone worked for only an hour before shutting down again and not turning on. I have tried various shops in my town, the first said they think it is software but they couldn't fix it, the second said it is a battery issue but they would have to order in a new battery and I also tried EE who refused to even look at it as my contract didn't come with warranty. Sony have emailed me back asking me to send it off to them, but i have no proof of purchase so that is out of the question. I have also searched Google for hours trying to find a solution but the only on that sounded remotely like my issue was apparently a sleep problem, but this is clearly not the case. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give to me about this issue. Thanks in advance to any help given

I brought the phone last october after my first sp(red) stopped charging as the usb port got damaged. I have used that button loads of times before using pens, pins and even a ds stylus to use it. The slight cover on that button has gone as a result.

Please is your problem solved how was it done.
Two days ago, my Xperia Z was on 1% battery, so I put it on charge. A few hours later, I go back to my phone, which had now turned off. I couldn't turn it back on, and I've also tried all the reset/hard reset ways. I left it on charge a bit longer (which all in all turned out to be 11 hours), still no success of turning it on. I took the charger out, then put it back in, which resulted in the red indicator light to come on (not flashing) for a minute, then switch off. But I still couldn't turn it on.
The battery is non-removable, which kind of sucks.
I've had my phone for about a year now.
I've read about this Sudden Death thing happening to the Xperia Z phones after the new software update, I don't know how true that is.
Apparently Sony has released a software update which MIGHT fix Sudden Death, but the thing is, because my phone is dead, PC Companion (updates your phone) won't detect my phone for update! So how can that even be possible?
Put a rubber band across it so that power and vol up are permanently pressed. Charge it that way for several hours and try again booting it
Look in the other thread about the same...seems like it has more importance than yours.. Hopefully you will get it working
My advice is just to leave it in the charger for some time... And hopefully it will work at some point

I eventually sent my Xperia Z to Sony for repair. I have received an email saying that their engineers could not repair it, and have sent out a like for like exchange handset which I should receive in a few days.
that happen to me today, brought it in and there is a reset button right next to the sim card...very tiny, hard to see, use a pin and push it in...should reset afterwards...mine did ...hope that helps
Flash it
Hard reboot your phone and then flash a firmware using Flashtool if required. I have run into issues like this with my Xperia Z few times.
Hey guys, long time no see.
Since my super popular forray into baseband modification my girlfriend has had my trusty old xperia Z c6603 until this morning. Of course, the first day of 2015 sets off with a bang.
After unplugging her phone this morning, it locked up. (this happens sometimes, once out of every 10 unplugs) She reset it with volup + power as usual and took a shower. Except today, it doesn't come back on.
This phone has never been rooted. It's had an alternate baseband flashed (of course, lol), and it's been working fine for 2 years. It has no water damage of any kind, and since it's me, you can expect it's in killer shape.
Volup/down + power does nothing at this point. Thinking I'm going to have to go into disassemble as described in other threads to unplug the battery, but that sucks.
Anyone else had this issue?

sadly no, nothing.
I'm thinking about getting a charging cradle on the off chance her port is damaged. - but it worked in the morning for her alarm and the chargelight was green before she restarted it.

yeah, probably not a bad idea. We just got her a Z2 as a replacement, but it was purchased in march of 2014, so, I would imagine it's still under warranty.
